Joachim Spieth teases his forthcoming album "Retrace" with the release of the album opener, "Recall," accompanied by a wonderfully dubby, dance-floor-friendly remix from the producer well-known within our community, Luigi Tozzi. While Spieth keeps things in a laid-back "sofa surfer" mode with deep, ambient, and dub-tinged atmospheres, Luigi Tozzi's remix expands the dub side of "Recall" into a proper dancefloor groover whose stabs simply envelope a listener like a spider web. Spieth and Tozzi, two of techno's distinguished artists, join forces and deliver a creme de la creme dub techno release. This is a great introduction to Joachim Spieth's forthcoming album, "Retrace," due in October. Celebrations are in store, as we're overjoyed to see the lovely Argentinian label Danza Nativa hit its fifth birthday in stride. From the start, the imprint helmed by Alderaan, Forest On Stasys, and Kyntral has been a proverbial force to be reckoned with, providing many a favorite tune over the years. We've been following them closely, and have enjoyed the progression of sound, a progression which is evident in their seminal 5 Years of Danza Nativa compilation. Featuring contributions from Anthony Linell, Amandra, echologist, Plants Army Revovler, Polygonia, Dino Sabatin, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio PRC, Daniel[i], Vanoni, Shoal, Vera Logdanidi, as well as all three founders, the compilation packs an incredible punch and speaks volumes to how well respected the label has become over the years. Our premiere comes from fellow New York based artist, Brendon Moeller and his echologist moniker. The raucous Mobil comes charging out of the gate with an upbeat tempo and dubby pads, providing a dose of energy to pick listeners up. As the tune progresses, growling synths and a litany of percussion, and textures pop in and out of focus, providing a jazzy ensemble to keep things moving. Danza Nativa's 5 year celebration compilation will be released both digitally and for the first time ever from the label on vinyl, the 15th of April. "It's a Mediterranean blue spilling from my heart, filling me up. Cool, deep, fathomless - between light and dark." This is how poet Gainor Ventresco describes "the perfect blue" in one of their poems. While it's unlikely that Ventresco had any ties with Italian DJ and producer Luigi Tozzi, these words perfectly capture the sensation that Tozzi's music evokes. Connected to the Mediterranean and deeply passionate about the ocean, his "Deep Blue" series transports listeners to a peaceful dreamlike state. The vastness of the universe and our subconscious worlds are perceptible within its depths. Tozzi's refined take on techno in his live sets and productions has gained him increasing attention over recent years. Not to forget his impeccable storytelling skills as a DJ (highly recommend the Acquario Immersioni Sets Pt. 1 & 2), specifically showing up in longer DJ sets where the light and the dark go hand in hand, as they do so in life. Luigi shared with us a Live Podcast featuring some unreleased material - this mix is enveloping and absorbing simultaneously. English: Originally from Kochi prefecture, now residing in Tokyo. He started organizing his own nights in 2011 where he honed his dj skills. Playing anything from classic to cutting-edge tracks, his smooth mixing brings a unique tension and intonation to the floor through individualistic loops. By gaining his reputation through his dj sets and an insatiable pursuit of the techno scene led him to play regularly in Osaka as well as various venues in mid and West Japan. As an organizer he has brought over many prevalent modern techno artists such as Claudio PRC, Ness, Luigi Tozzi and Refracted, in order to evolve the techno scene in Japan. In 2014 he moved to Tokyo where he linked up with his main partner Kannabi to start the techno party Katharsis. In recent years his music production skills have flourished, hence, set up the label Katharsis Recordings. The first release is sprit 12 from the Label founder Masafumi Take and Kannabi. Also include Iori and Takaaki Itoh remix. The Second release will be out in May on vinyl. The latest gem in the ever-inspiring Hypnus Records catalog comes from Rotterdam-based Rambadu, a relative newcomer who spent his recent years researching the energetic powers and healing properties of sound. In 2019 and 2020, Rambadu released two successful EPs on his label (the latter including a fantastic remix by Luigi Tozzi). For his collaboration with Hypnus, Rambadu delivers a four-tracker ‘Ajna' - an incredible tribal techno journey that keeps on giving with each new listening. Rambadu's use of live percussions and acoustic instruments paired with hardware devices and modulated field recordings shine in its brightest light in the ‘Ajna' EP. The closing track and our premiere for today, ‘Visie,' is an after-hour tribal-techno delight. The driving rhythm, a heartbeat of ‘Visie,' layered with organic percussive intricacies, is an ideal foundation for drone pads and field recordings to do their magic in the background and create quite a hypnotic atmosphere. ‘Ajna' EP is coming out on June 24th via Hypnus Records. Established herself in Europe, she played in prestigious venues, such as Rex Club in Paris, Khidi in Tbilisi, Griessmühle, or Tresor in Berlin, as well as some festivals, like Forte Festival in Portugal and soon Instytut Festival in Poland. Candy’s mix this month is a delightful mix of light and dark techno. Opening the cinematic score is the first from Robots With No Soul ‘ENTER’ and briskly into Luigi Tozzi’s sparse yet expansive ‘Allergic’ echoing out and warming you up for the path ahead. By Track 3 and 4, I’m reminded of John Selway's ‘Lightwave’ Journeys By Dj’s CD, which washes in and out with warm synth-led atmospherics and calm quiet brooding groove before ramping up and up. Intelligent techno if you will. We have the same ethos here and at around 25 mins in things start to morph and bubble with intent. Somewhere just in the middle of the storm that is brewing is an almost a ‘techno Jazz’ interlude from Tale of Us - Ricordi (Rødhåd Remix). It is reminiscent of a science fiction film soundtrack you think you’ve heard but can’t quite place. And then without warning; onwards. Dino Lenny’s futuristic ‘Living in a song’ sears in delivering the first full vocal of the mix and into ‘The Pain on The Train’ a proper old school techno stomper. At the halfway through point Candy has us all in the Tunnel and the lights are now out. It is head down reach forward stuff as techno tracks weave in and out of menace beats and melodic synths. Often in the midst of a night you know that the DJ will deliver you safely through the smoke-filled darkness and into the light. It’s exactly the reward you have here through the aptly named ‘Breaking the clouds’ from one of my old faves Dapayk Solo. Further gentle guidance and a now typical Candyesq warm and refreshing climax comes from Arutani ‘Far Away’. And we are back, refreshed 78 mins later, without a scratch or a mark on us looking eagerly at the play button again. DJ

Vinyl and it’s sound has always been the love of the Wroclaw artist Aksamit. In her compositions, you can find hypnotic sounds of ambient, deep techno and tribal. A Wrocław DJ, a resident at Projekt Pralnia, a founder of Affekt and Velvet Vortex, is definitely rising talent in the polish techno scene. Her love of vinyl led her to the Berlin club Tresor, in which she played during the iconic Klubnacht & All You Need Is Ears. Currently, she has performed in most Polish clubs and festivals - Wisłoujście, Revive, Instytut, LAS Festival, Kaskada Festival and Audioriver Festival. She has also performed outside of Poland - Germany, Spain, Andorra, Denmark, Ireland and the UK. She recently won the Polish Club Stage award in the Munoludy plebiscite in the Discovery of the Year 2018 category. During her short 3-year history with techno music, she had the honour of playing alongside such artists as Dasha Rush, Ellen Allien, Chris Liebing, Keith Carnal, Neel, Takaaki Itoh, Perc, Monoloc, Tadeo, Introversion, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio, PRC, Korridor or Refracted. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Dutch label @Dynamic-Reflection released a massive five-release compilation of music for example by Ness, Blawan, Luigi Tozzi and many more. Monument premieres Italian @Viels track Rhyuski Grhosour from the last instalment of the release series. The Luna Frigus EP is out on December 14th.

@MentalModern releases a V/A compilation by four great Italian artists - Ness, Luigi Tozzi, Mod21 and @Alan-Backdrop, whose dreamy track Hǎiyáng is Monument's pick for the premiere. The digital version comes with one more "Bandcamp Exclusive" track by Gianluca Meloni aka @Laertes. The V/A is out on November 30th.

This week we're thrilled to bring you an incredible guest mix by Empasym, who brings an interesting new sound to The Goose Collective Podcast. Empasym approached the mix with a strict mandate of bringing a unique new experience to listeners by tailoring tracks from minor artists like Kaf and BNJMN and from side projects from better known artists. The Gods Planet (TGP) is back with their 13th release, featuring previously released tracks by the label heads Claudio PRC and Ness, now remixed by fellow Italians Luigi Tozzi and Alan Backdrop. Paul Zawadzki, or better known as Concept Of Thrill is a producer from Warsaw, Poland. Earlier before the project Concept Of Thrill Paul produced and played under the name called Weld. Changes in life is a normal situation, Paul thought it was time to change and came up with a new project called Concept Of Thrill. A fresh new project founded in January 2014. Born and educated in Rome, the young Italian producer Luigi Tozzi was strongly influenced by the roman scene and its local artists, many of whom gave a crucial contribution to the birth and growth of the deep techno sound. Luigi’s music has so far been released on the established label Dynamic Reflection as well as setting a regular cooperation with the very promising and mysterious techno label Hypnus Records from Sweden, where he found a platform that inspired him to develop his style. Melting the tribal and hypnotic elements of techno with the atmospheric and emotional side of ambient music he is making his own path in the world of electronics. Recently this has gotten him in contact with Dino Sabatini which led to the opportunity to join Outis Music that has released well known artists such as Modern Heads, Brando Lupi, Donato Dozzy among others.

The Italian peninsula is known for its output of powerful, atmospheric and emotive techno, and Luigi Tozzi is just one supreme example of this type of sound. Hailing from Rome, Tozzi is a young producer and DJ who's Luigi-Tozziinfluenced by the deep and atmospheric sounds that are coming from the capital city and whose contributions to techno have piqued the interests of Edit Select, Claudio PRC and Deepbass; producers who Tozzi has featured with on the Outis Music imprint. Tozzi has also released on Dynamic Reflection and swedish label Hypnus Records. We really enjoy the vibe of this mix, as it takes you on a deeply introspective journey of the mind while allowing yourself to feel like you're floating out in the cosmos.

Hello! Friends of the Monument. Our guest for this episode is Luigi Tozzi(@luigitozzi). An Italian based producer with releases on influential labels like Dynamic Reflection and Hypnus Records (Sweden). We could expect to hear more from Luigi in the future as you could read about in the Q&A. On the note of “future”, this mix showcases a futuristic landscape of techno sounds and grooves. A real treat for the mind. 1. Which DJ would you like to share a beer and a conversation with? Why? Probably with the guys from Northern Electronics, especially with Acronym. I am paying a lot of attention to their output and like it very much, it's interesting to me how they express all a similar mood in their music, but keeping a very distinctive and individual touch. They are very careful not to unveil too much about themselves, which is something that I respect, but I'd be very curious to know a bit more about their methods and workflow. 2. How do you make your music? And whats up with the deep and sci-fi sound style? I make my music with an hybrid setup, I own some analog machines (Ms20 mini/Microbrute and a couple drum machines) but I tend to work and process a lot in the box with Ableton and some plugin bundles. This is the way I will continue to work in my solo project, but in the future I am planning to make a collaboration with a friend here in Rome which will be centered only on machines. I think that jamming and arranging live can be very stimulating for creativity and I'm very looking forward to give it a try. 3. What's happening in the future? (releases, gigs etc) A lot is happening in the next months, with Hypnus we will release a LP with great artists (such as Cassegrain,Ness, Svreca, Mike Parker, Alan Backdrop, Orphx, Cio d'Or and Edit Select) remixing our works from the past year.This will be released in January and in the following months I already have three solo releases confirmed and some remixes. Also I am very excited about starting to work on a live set, I know this won't be easy and will take some time but it's an objective I have fixed as a goal for 2015. 4. Any words to the people out there mesmerized by your sound?
