With so many people moving to Australia in the last couple of years, I have seen a lot of chat about Australia not being what 'they' make it out to be. To cover this topic, I thought who better to bring on as this weeks guest than Producer Kelley who has some interesting news for everyone and is particularly familiar with the lows of Australia at the moment which you will hear about in this episode. With two varying experiences between us, we chat about everything from visa struggles, job hunts, loneliness and a whole lot more in between. Australia is an amazing place but my god it does not come without it's struggles. It's not all sunrises and boat parties but they do make the struggles a little bit more bearable and there's a reason so many people have moved over and never come back. Outside of the obvious roles that being a TD entails, he talks about the sides we don't see and the parts that have stuck with him for life like talking a man out of committing suicide over the phone. Is it possible to have a craic filled night on the tiles with no alcohol? Some of you probably think not a chance but Lisa Curran who is behind Ireland's first ever alcohol free events company, The Virtue Club, has seen first hand that it absolutely is and lots of people are behind the idea. Am I a bad bitch for uploading this episode on a Monday? Possibly, but as Lisa points out in our chat, lots of people have realized during all the lockdowns that alcohol and the fear and anxiety and whatever else that comes with it just isn't for them anymore. People are looking for other options to still get dressed up, have the craic, listen to live music and socialize. There has been a whole market of people who have not drank for years for whatever reason and have been so limited when it comes to nightlife and been almost outcasted because they don't drink. Gone are the days of standing there awkwardly with an orange juice and telling whoever is asking that you are on antibiotics because Lisa and the Virtue club have every drink you can think of without the filthy hangover and the good vibes to go with it. It may not be for you but I'm sure you know someone this would appeal to and how nice would it be to take that person out for a night on the tiles. Such a great chat with Lisa and hilarious to hear the stories of people really embracing the idea. Can't wait to see where they head next! In light of the tragic murder of Aishling Murphy a few days ago in Tullamore, County Offaly, although I had planned on doing an episode like this in a few weeks time, I just could not get this out of my head so I decided to record this today.  Things need to change big time. The fact that women can't go out and do their daily bits on their own without fear that they might be attacked, assaulted, raped or killed is not one bit normal yet we have just lived our lives for years just as though it is normal. We have been told since we were small to not do this and make sure you do that etc. etc. all to make sure we are kept safe from dangerous men. We have almost become numb to it over the years and have to accept the fact that some men will inevitably do things and we just have to do what we can to protect ourselves. Obviously what we have learned from this is that there is nothing more us as women can do anymore to protect ourselves. Therefore, conversations need to be had and changes need to be made.  Actual punishments need to be put in place for men that attack women and women need to be listened to. It's not all men but it most certainly is some men and my friends and I have had our fair share of dealings to prove so which you can hear about in this episode. The justice system is warped and victim blaming needs to stop and that's just touching the surface of things that need to change. The facts and figures that I discuss in this episode are shocking.  I know most of my listeners are women but I would encourage men to listen to this episode to open your eyes a bit to a few things you might not realize.  RIP Aishling xx

Lads, get ready for some wholesome content with the nicest, most genuine man in the whole of Ireland. At 67 years of age Padraig Howley, or Sing and Step With Padraig as you may know him from Instagram, turned vegan for health reasons and hasn't looked back since. He went from the typical Irish diet of a fry for breakfast and a dinner of meat spuds and veg to trying dishes that he couldn't even name. With the help of his lovely daughter Tara, he has been cheering up the country and every Irish person abroad through his lilting, dancing and overall good craic. He has won the hearts of so many people with a massive 79k followers on Instagram and growing. A man that didn't even know what Instagram was a few months ago. I'm so delighted to have been able to chat with him so thank you Padraig and Tara for taking time from your break away. *This episode is proudly sponsored by Pink Harper. I'm back with two of my lovely friends Erin and Rachel to chat about body issues, putting ourselves down and the obsession we all have to look ‘perfect'. We delve into the effects of social media, society and, more importantly, our own minds on how we see ourselves. We also get honest about our own struggles with what we see in the mirror and negative comments that have stuck with us for years. We discuss our opinions on fillers and surgery's and so much more but most importantly about how we all need to just start being a bit nicer to ourselves each and everyday. It's raw and truthful and it's a really important message that we all need to hear (myself included) and just remember that your looks are the least interesting thing about you. Ciara is so grateful to be exactly where she is today and although it was far from an easy journey, she is proof that you CAN get to the other side of things and feel happy again. It's absolutely no surprise to anyone that Australian borders have been closed since Covid took off well over a year ago now. The last few weeks in particular have been very hard for every expat here because it seems the likelihood and hope we had towards borders opening any time soon have been dashed. More and more stories of families that have been separated through deaths, illnesses and every sort of life changing event you can think of both good and bad have come to everyone's attention. Most of us that are left here in Australia are here because we've built futures for ourselves here, we plan on staying here for many more years to come or possibly forever for some. The situation that people have found themselves in now, because of these border closures, is a decision that nobody should be left with in such a difficult time. Do we pack up our lives and futures here and go home to be with our families and leave everything behind us? A lifechanging decision on top of everything all to be made in a matter of days for some people. Parents of citizens not allowed to come in to support their children during illness, citizens struggling to get back home to see their kids, caps put on numbers coming in making it even harder than it already was yet celebs are arriving here not a problem?! We want to go home it's been long enough! If the rich and famous are allowed then why can't we? This episode is me rambling on about these issues and so much more. We discuss the tears, the laughs, the friendships and the absolute torturous work they went through and so much more! If you want to have a look at Caoimhe's highlights of her farm work that I mention in this episode this is the link to her Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/caofakenny/ Enjoy the episode x Instagram: @aislinndowling Facebook: @dowlingaislinn Twitter: @dowlingaislinn Website: aislinn-dowling.com

On this weeks epsiode I am so excited to have another podcaster with me to have a chat and a laugh! Caroline is behind the podcast, A County Down Under, and is a fellow Irish woman over here in Sydney. We discuss all about her recent successes and her fantastic events and initiatives that she has started over the last few months. Her aim is to bring Irish expats together over here and help tackle any lonliness that people might be feeling while living so far away from home as well as helping those who battle with any mental struggles. Follow her page on Instagram @acountydownunder to keep up to date with the Sunrise Social information, monthly bottomless brunches and future events like her (sold out) boat party. Episode 10 - Agony Aunt and Dirty Dilemmas

On this weeks episode I make a stab at my favorite style of podcasting - discussing people's juicy dilemmas. I sift through the internet and find some intersting and quite worrying issues and attempt to give my own personal advice and have a laugh at their expence. My advice could be shite and is most definetly not professional or anything close to that but it was definitely a bit of craic! I would love to make this a more regular feature on the podcast but with the help of some fresh stories, dilemmas or just anything worth featuring. So, I will be adding a link to an anonymous submission box for any of my followers to submit whatever they would like. Keep an eye out on my Instagram for when I post the link for this Tumblr anonymous box. It will be in my Instagram bio very soon. On this weeks episode I am so excited to finally have my first ever interview (outside of my friends) on the podcast. I'm joined by Jenn, an Irish woman from Cork, who has been working as a stripper for years all over the world. Jenn is currently living and working in Perth and with sex work being so topical now more than ever, I thought what better time to find out everything I've ever wanted to know and also attempt to break down some of that silly stigma attached to her career choice. Enjoy!! x If you want to follow Jenn on Instagram I have attached the links below: https://www.instagram.com/pink.witch.bitch/ Jenn's personal page https://www.instagram.com/lily.voodoo.lounge/ Jenn/Lily's work page Instagram: @aislinndowling Facebook: @dowlingaislinn Twitter: @dowlingaislinn Website: aislinn-dowling.com

The ups, the downs, everything in between and the random things that we do that you wouldn't dream of doing at home. It may all look like sunshine and craic through the phone but it isn't all easy! Hopefully you get a little bit of an insight into the place I've called home for almost three years or if you're here like me I hope you have a laugh at some of the things that each of us over here can relate to.
