Well the time is here! Abby is finally getting a back surgery we knew would need to be done despite all the cortisone shots and physical therapy. I don't share this so you can plan when your next family member needs you for a surgery. I'm sharing all my planning thoughts and iterations because where else do we hear this stuff? How do you learn how others plan? This is for any event you have coming up that requires a lot of shifting and planning. I'm going into a time where there will be a plan and I can not just “not feel like it.” I have to do what is on the plan in order to have success. Operation “Take Care of Grayson” What does this mean for me? Full time primary care giver to Grayson. Honestly, I'm using the lens that this is a unique opportunity to spend these months with Grayson and support Abby. The first thing I knew I needed was to think about how I was going to entertain this active big 4 year old. I have a routine I am going to try out based on tiny details of care that Grayson needs and what he's used to. And I've thought about a lil lunch box I can pack for on the go, what all needs to be in my purse at all times for Grayson, and a backpack in the back of the car with things we may need when we are out. The routine is in small chunks of time that I can start to give back to Abby as she recovers. Next Layer: The Family When going into a time of new demands on your time and capacity, you need to look at it in reverse order to figure out how to still meet as many personal and family obligations as possible. So next my brain went to the rest of my family. How will I care for Greg, Joey, and help Abby through recovery. Greg has this trip to the Keys planned to take with Joey and his dad. It's important and I encouraged them to still take it. It's during the first week after Abby's surgery. I'm asking Greg to take on a few tasks to make sure we all get fed and Grayson gets to and from Daycare. I've been reading up on this surgery and the recovery process. I have tried to consider the physical things Abby may need to aid her in her recovery. But I have also been considering the emotional toll this may have on her. Might be tough watching me play mom to her child for a while. I will do my best to include Abby to keep her spirits up. And the physical therapy! Likely I will have those scheduled before the surgery takes place. I'm sneaking in an adult field trip before surgery to fill my cup and one after Abby's surgery to give me something to look forward to. I also looked at work and rearranged the things I need to be in person at, to the mornings, when I will be in the office. I've decided to work from home for the first week. And Saturday showed itself as a day I can take advantage of being in the office because Greg can be home with Abby and Grayson on Saturdays. I will be working on my dissertation starting now because I have time and then Saturdays. Please cross your fingers all the research I'm going to do in advance about Prospective Memory will be worth it because I have not got the green like on this yet. But it's a risk, for times sake, that I have to take. How Will My Planning Day Workbook Look This Time? So after taking 32 minutes to tell you all about my planning, I opened the Planning Day workbook. I walked through the workbook and shared, off the cuff, my thoughts about how I will plan according to each page. Ha! I was actually caught off guard on a couple of upcoming things like birthdays and our anniversary. Yeah, Abby needs an oil change and I checked but my car is good for a while. These are the things you should be thinking about going into something this big, what can I get done now to make this upcoming busy time more smooth? I am trying to think of everything. I will continue to mull over my calendar and rearrange things as necessary. This is a ridiculous amount of planning that my future self will thank me for doing. This is the kind of detailed planning we do in Planning Day! EPISODE RESOURCES: The Sunday Basket® Planning Day Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter Did you enjoy this episode? As always, I'm putting one foot in front of the other and hoping for the best. Listen as I fill you in on the latest in my recovery.

At 55 years old, Joey was living with 7 herniated discs and had been in chronic pain for almost 20 years. He suffered from:✅ L5-S1, L4-L5, L3-L4, L2-L3, L1-L2 (ALL 5 lumbar discs herniated!)✅ T12-L1, T11-T12 (thoracic-lumbar herniations)His pain first started in 2007, when a debilitating back spasm left him stuck on the ground, unable to move. For nearly two decades after, he dealt with severe back pain and sciatica flare-ups every 6-7 months. He tried everything to get better:❌ Epidural injections – only temporary relief❌ Physical therapy – generic exercises, no lasting change❌ Decompression therapy – expensive and ineffective❌ Inversion tables & back braces – no long-term results❌ Surgery consultations – told he'd be in and out of the hospital for lifeWith nothing working, Joey assumed this was just his reality—until he took a chance on the Whealth Limitless Program. How Whealth Limitless Changed EverythingAt first, Joey was skeptical (like most of our members) —he had already tried so much without success. But within just a few weeks, he started feeling a difference. And in a few months, he was completely pain-free for the first time in over a decade. Now, he's:✅ Back to playing golf after 14 YEARS away from the sport✅ Running his landscaping business PAIN-FREE✅ Waking up without thinking about his back pain✅ Living life without fear of flare-upsJoey is proof that you CAN heal—even with multiple herniations and decades of pain.

Zack's story: "I wish I'd found Whealth before back surgery—I believe it could've saved me. After an unsuccessful microdiscectomy and 2 injections, Limitless finally healed me 100%, ending 3.5 years of sciatic & back pain. In 2020, my MRI showed three 6mm herniated discs (L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1) as I felt severe pain shooting down my left leg. For 6 months, I saw chiropractors, doctors, and PTs 5x/week and did everything they told me, but my pain worsened. I became depressed & stopped lifting, surfing, & golfing. This was devastating as my athletic identity was stripped away. For 2.5 years, I relied on 8 Advil/day to numb the pain. Desperate for relief, I consulted top surgeons in LA, but they dismissed my pain saying I was too young for back surgery & it couldn't be that bad.. So I was prescribed 6 more months of PT. PT still didn't work despite my adherence and pain persisted, so I finally underwent lumbar surgery (microdiscectomy) on L4/L5/S1 hoping for my life back. Unfortunately, post-surgery, my pain GOT EVEN WORSE and daily life was a struggle- I became more depressed, fearing I'd never enjoy activities like surfing, golfing, and running again. While searching online for rehab programs, I discovered Whealth- skeptical but desperate, I committed to the Limitless Program in April 2023. The progress was slow & humbling, but it offered the first glimmer of hope I had in years. Within 2-3 weeks, my pain reduced noticeably and I stopped taking advil. 6 months into the program, my back pain and strength had improved significantly and I was golfing again. I felt a renewed sense of life. Within 9-12 months, my back and nerve pain was fully gone. Today, I am lifting, golfing, surfing, traveling, & put back on 20 lbs. Limitless transformed my life, giving me back my mental health, confidence, and happiness. I'm forever grateful for their guidance and support. If you're struggling with back pain, I highly recommend trying the Limitless Program before considering surgery or other medical interventions. It truly gave me my life back."
Well, here I am again! I'm roughly 20-ish weeks out of back surgery updating you again. WHY? Well, I really want to give you all the details of the FULL recovery…the good, the bag, the ugly and everything in between. It's been a road if I do say so myself. It's kind of like life, ya know, things are going all good and then one day…BAM!! The shit hits the fan. In my world, I've learned it's all about how you handle it. Can I just say that sometimes, I don't handle it all that well when it hits BUT I DO make it through. Ya know, a few cuss words here and there and then I push forward…which is EXACTLY what I did last week. YEP, the shit hit the fan and I lost it!! Let's talk about what happened. Shall we?

Phil Norvold, Whealth Limitless member: "On May 23rd, I reached out to the Whealth team in a desperate attempt to avoid back surgery. My neurosurgeon had just diagnosed me with a 5mm L5-S1 disc herniation that was crushing my sciatic nerve, and insisted that a microdiscectomy was my next option, as everything I tried for the previous 3 months didn't help. From March to May, I tried an emergency epidural, yoga, Thai massage, sauna, dry needling, ibuprofen, muscle relaxers, painkillers, cold plunging.. but the pain was relentless, worsening, shooting down my leg & making every day a struggle. My work, travel, & responsibilities as a father/ husband were all suffering tremendously, so I needed to find a way out. On May 23rd, I faced a crucial decision: undergo back surgery or try the Whealth Limitless Program, which I had seen online help others like me overcome their back pain. I scheduled a consultation with co-founder @camborch who helped me believe in myself, and I decided to give the program my all before resorting to surgery. I started Limitless that afternoon and created a schedule to follow each 30 min daily workout. I awkwardly introduced myself in the private facebook community and began learning the basics, posting videos, and getting private coaching. Within 8 weeks, I eliminated 90% of my pain. By the end of week 1, I could sit comfortably with less pain, put my shoes on, and travel on a plane. 3-4 weeks in, my range of motion started returning, I got stronger, and the pain was at 50% By week 5, my neurosurgeon told me in a follow up that he no longer recommended surgery, changing his mind, and that what I was doing WAS WORKING! By week 6, I was back on a bike, and during week 8, I got back to jiu jitsu rolling and I cycled 120 miles. This program not only gave me my life back but also taught me the importance of balance and intentionality. I've decided to run it one more time, as I've regained my pre-injury abilities but still have room for improvement. I'll be at 100% in no time. This program is priceless, and it works if you work it."

Well, as of now I am coming up on 6 weeks post-op. I have started PT and I am SLOWLY moving forward. Am I gald I did it? Well, I can say I am glad I am no longer in the pain I was in BUT It seems the more people I talk to, the more they want to try to confirm my fears. This is why I didn't tell many people I was even having the surgery. Now, I have people asking me how I am doing and then they go into “ man, you just hear so many bad stories about back surgery”..yep, thank you for your time, I will gladly show you my hand (thank your lucky stars it is all 5 fingers) and tell you I do not want to hear it. SERIOUSLY, who the fuck does that and why? SHUT THE FUCK UP about it, PLEASE!! Anyway, I am in a place now where a LOT scares me and I am listening to every signal my body is giving me and taking things very slowly. Some people aren't happy about that but, again, I am giving ZERO fucks about what someone else thinks. It's real, I was REALLY cut on and I am in recovery and taking it one day at a time. Trust me when I say I WISH I was faking this all along because I do not wish this on my worst enemy!! Everyone heals differently and every little thing I FEEL scares the shit out of me now. I'll be talking more about all the feels and how my recovery is going in this episode.
Jim Irsay talking about back surgery - not overdose. Says his recovery will not allow him to be in the draft room Thursday night. Chris Ballard's priorities are unlikely to align with those of fans - which is fine, but he needs to be right! Pacers will try to rinse the stench of game one out out it hair tonight. Can they emerge from their butt whooping with a successful collective effort. Well, if you've been following me for a bit now, you know I've had some medical ‘things' going on that I have mentioned a bit here and there. Well, in this episode, I'm giving you the big update on it all and taking you along for the full journey. As this episode is airing, I will be roughly 4 days post-op from a microdiscectomy on L-5-S1. A Lot of you know that I have had back problems for a LONG time and twice it has turned into big ass nerve pain starting from literally my ass to the bottom of my foot. Never in my life had I ever felt so much pain. Surgery was NOT what I wasnted BUT it is what I needed. I had ehxausted all of my options and my body just wasn't cooperating with me. I had feared this moment would come and in my mind I knew recovering from back surgery at age 49 was probably going to be easier than recovering at 79. Trust me whan I say ALL the feelings came out, especially over the last 5 months when it all started to go down hill. Anger, frustration, fear, anxiety, defeat, fear…did I say fear?!?! That was the one that held me back the most. And possibly pride. I didn't want to give in to surgery, I wanted to heal without haiving to be opened up. Well, in this podcast I give a little “pre-op” story that led me to the surgery and over the next few weeks and months, I will be taking you all on the journey of recovery. I have had many clients who have had set backs and, liek me, it IS the end of the world. It really isn't but I was there and feeling sorry for myself and being severely pissed off because I was in a place in my fitness journey that I waskicking ass and taking names ( let me have my moment) THAT right there was a HUGE set back for me because I knew everything woul dhave to come to a dead stop and I'd be starting over AGAIN…but this time, my mindset is different and that is what I am sharing in this podcast. I am human, just like you and I have had BIG feelings on all of this BUT I know I will make a kick ass come back and live to tell about it all.
The Lakers still have designs on moving up in the Western Conference, and the narrowest of windows in which to get it done. There are opportunities. The Suns, for example, have an insanely brutal schedule over their last 10 games, and the Lakers do own the tiebreaker against Phoenix. Sacramento is still in reach, and has a harder schedule than LA. But if the Lakers want to make any of this happen - and want to avoid the possibility of dropping to 10th, or even worse, open the door for a red hot Houston Rockets team, tonight's game at home against a moribund Philadelphia 76ers is simply one they should win, and must win. Must, must, must. Must. And it's those "should win" games where the Lakers have tended to struggle, playing down to the level of competition. Can't happen tonight. Meanwhile, the Lakers announced that Jalen Hood-Schifino will undergo a procedure to repair a disc issue in his back, and while no timetable was announced, it would certainly figure that he'll miss a good chunk of time, possibly the rest of the year. No impact on the big club... which really is the jumping off point for the conversation. That losing Hood-Schifino makes no difference for their fortunes shines a light on the decision to draft him in the first place over players more capable of playing an NBA role as rookies. But that question - did they draft the right guy for THIS year, is a different one than whether Hood-Schifino is a bust. It's waaaaay too early for that. And meanwhile, his stats with South Bay are actually quite good. It's just a shame his season has been so short, both because he's been injured a lot and because the Lakers couldn't send him to the G-League nearly as much as they wanted because of the injury to Gabe Vincent. Finally, a great question from a viewer on the YT page: With Cam Reddish back, would it make sense to put him in the starting lineup in order to boost the defense, and bring some scoring to the second unit? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: The Lakers must win on Friday. There's just no way around it. SEGMENT 2: Hood-Schifino needs back surgery, which opens up the debate about drafting him in the first place. SEGMENT 3: Would a change in the lineup make sense? Many people have preconceived notions about spinal fusion surgery. Maybe you remember your parents or grandparents having one. If so - you likely think of an open-back surgery with a long recovery time, a lot of pain and restricted movement. But that was then and this is now. In today's era of modern back surgery, advanced technology makes minimally invasive surgeries possible. That translates to reduced recovery time, less pain and more movement. But what does that look like in real life? Today we're talking about it with a patient for an honest, unvarnished look at life after spinal fusion. Learn more about VSI at SpineMD.com
