must listen, guys, great podcast, guests, always, love, owls fans, temple sports.
Listeners of OwlScoop.com - The Scoop that love the show mention: football and basketball, john,The OwlScoop.com - The Scoop podcast is a must-listen for any fan of Temple University's football and basketball teams. As a Temple alum and Philly sports fan, I've often struggled to find good coverage of my beloved school's athletic programs. However, this podcast delivers excellent coverage and analysis that is hard to come by elsewhere.
One of the best aspects of The Scoop podcast is the impressive level of knowledge and insight that the hosts bring to each episode. John, Kyle, and the Sam's are all incredibly plugged in to both the football and basketball teams, providing fans with insider information and in-depth analysis that you won't find in mainstream media. They consistently bring on relevant and insightful guests who add even more value to the show.
Additionally, the hosts strike a great balance between being informative and entertaining. While they provide serious analysis of the teams' performance, they also include light-hearted moments and inject humor into their discussions. This makes for an engaging listen that keeps me coming back for more.
However, if I had to point out one potential downside, it would be that the podcast primarily focuses on Temple Athletics. While this is fantastic for diehard fans like myself who want every detail about our school's teams, it may not be as appealing to listeners who are looking for broader coverage or variety in sports topics.
In conclusion, The OwlScoop.com - The Scoop podcast is a gem for Temple University football and basketball fans. It offers unparalleled coverage and insights into these programs that are hard to find elsewhere. Whether you're looking for insider information or just want to stay up-to-date with your favorite teams, this podcast is a must-listen. The hosts' knowledge, insightful guests, and entertaining style make it an enjoyable experience for any fan. Go Owls!

Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney attorney Andrew Hope joins John Di Carlo, Kyle Gauss, Declan Landis and Johnny Zawislak to break down the NCAA investigation into Temple and the ramifications of the NCAA - House settlement. This week's episode all discusses, among other things, what's next for Temple football after a 56-34 loss to East Carolina and what the loss of Lynn Greer III for nine games could mean for the rest of Temple's roster.
After leading New Mexico to the Mountain West Conference championship and into the NCAA Tournament, Jamal Mashburn Jr. entered the transfer portal and picked Temple, where he'll take the floor for the Owls as a preseason first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection. In his 1-on-1 interview with OwlScoop.com for this week's episode of The Scoop, Mashburn Jr. said he'll be playing his fair share of possessions on the ball as a point guard for second-year head coach Adam Fisher. Mashburn Jr. has seen enough from his new teammates on and off the court to have him believing Temple could be playing some meaningful basketball in March. “It's just been a family-oriented deal over here,” Mashburn Jr. told OwlScoop. “All the players, they love me for who I truly am and who I authentically am, and we're able to have those tough conversations early, which is what a good team needs in order to succeed in January and February. So, it's just this group is great. I think we're going to do some special things. We just got to go out there and continue to stack days.” On this week's podcast, Mashburn Jr. talked about his relationship with his father, offered a detailed breakdown of Temple's roster and talked about what is important to him off the court. Temple women's basketball coach Diane Richardson joined us on The Scoop this week. She offered a closer look at her roster, talked about her daughter and WNBA star Jonquel Jones, and weighed in on the role of women in sports and sports media. We also previewed Temple's upcoming homecoming football game against Tulsa, took note of new American Athletic Conference commissioner Tim Pernetti's messaging at the league's media day, and answered your mailbag questions. With three seconds left and mere inches from the end zone on the game's final play, Temple fumbled away a shocking loss at UConn, one we recapped on this week's OwlScopp.com podcast. John DiCarlo, Kyle Gauss, Declan Landis and Johnny Zawislak talked about why it evoked memories of the past and analyzed the questionable coaching decisions that have led the Owls to a 1-5 record heading into the bye week. And in case you haven't noticed, Michelle Vittese's Temple field hockey team is now nationally ranked and on a five-game winning streak. Temple is licking its wounds after a 28-point loss last Thursday to Army, and now the Owls have another quarterback question on their hands. With third-year head coach Stan Drayton electing to keep starter Evan Simon on the field late in the fourth quarter of an unwinnable game, the Rutgers transfer took a hard hit and is now questionable with an SC joint injury in his shoulder heading into Saturday's road game at UConn. Who would start it he can't go? Can a Temple team that has continued to miss tackles on defense and miss assignments on the offensive line slow down a Huskies team that hasn't lost at home? John DiCarlo and Declan Landis take a look at all of that on this week's podcast, in addition to answering mailbag questions about a Temple men's basketball team that heads into head coach Adam Fisher's second season with a lot of potential. Intro: 0:00 – 3:30 On (or around) this date: 3:30 – 13:15 Recapping Temple's loss to Army: 13:15 – 25:27 Previewing Saturday's game at UConn: 25:27 – 36:37 Adam Fisher offers a look at Dillon Battie: 36:37 – 39:55 ‘Hello, Goodbye' with Cam Miles and KJ Cochran: 39:55 – 42:05 Mailbag: 42:05 – end

We also previewed Temple nationally-televised Thursday night home game against Army and answered your mailbag questions, too. 0:00 – 2:02: Intro 2:02 – 6:08: On (or around) this date 6:08 – 16:51: Recapping Temple's 45-29 win over Utah State 16:51 – 27:38: Previewing Temple's matchup against Army 27:38 – 42:25: Temple men's basketball coach Adam Fisher on NIL, the schedule and more 42:25 - 44:22: A basketball recruiting update and why now is a good time to subscribe to OwlScoop 44:22 – end: Mailbag
Temple's offense finally showed some signs of life last Saturday with Evan Simon under center, but the Owls are an 0-3 football team after their loss to Coastal Carolina. Could Saturday's game against Utah State be the day when the Owls finally put it all together and land their first win of the year? Will Simon get another chance to start? We examined that and much more, including the latest men's basketball recruiting updates, on this week's podcast. Intro: 0:00 – 5:47 On (or around) this date: 5:47 – 9:30 Recapping Temple's loss to Coastal Carolina: 9:30 – 17:28 Talking about the Owls' lack of focus: 17:28 – 22:11 Previewing Utah State: 22:11 – 35:42 Men's hoops recruiting update: 35:42 – 36:53 Mailbag: 36:53 – end
After an 0-2 start has left Temple football fans feeling quite frustrated, we're here with a mailbag-heavy episode of The Scoop to listen to your airing of grievances. What needs to be done to give Temple better NIL support? Why did the Owls play so poorly in their loss at Navy? Is it the scheme? The execution? A little bit of both? And we got into some basketball talk, too. Is Adam Fisher's men's basketball team good enough to get to the NCAA Tournament this year? What's an early look at a potential starting five and the first three players off the bench? Those are some of the topics we covered in answering nearly a dozen mailbag questions, and we've got you covered with a preview and closer look at Coastal Carolina, Temple's opponent in Saturday's football home opener. As he walked in to greet a room of reporters last week, Temple wide receiver John Adams smiled and started with a little bit of humor. "The president is back," he said, referencing of course that he shares a name with that of the second president of the United States. Adams has every reason to be in a good mood these days. After working his way into Temple's wide receiver rotation as a walk-on last season and catching 15 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns, his season came to an early end with a broken leg in a road game at UAB. Adams thought his chance of eventually earning a scholarship was over at that point, but he rehabbed, worked his way back and found out Monday night that he has indeed earned a scholarship, getting the news from his head coach Stan Drayton and from his mother, Louise Adams, on video. Adams spoke with us Thursday to talk about his recovery and what earning a scholarship means to him, and we have the latest preseason camp updates for you with the season opener at Oklahoma just a week away. Intro: 00:00 4:56 On (or around) this date: 4:56 - 12:34 Preseason camp updates: 12:34 - 14:17 John Adams interview: 14:17 - 55:55 Mailbag: 55:55 - end

Westtown School 4-star guard Cam Wallace, the 116th-ranked player in Rivals' 2025 class, got the week off to a great start for the Owls when he announced his verbal commitment to Temple, and 3-star DME Academy forward Babatunde Durodola kept the energy going Friday when he announced he was reclassifying to the 2024 class and signing with Temple, giving the Owls a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward who had a very solid summer on the Under Armour AAU Circuit with Canada Elite and played this past season down in Florida against the respective consensus No. 1 players in the 2024 and 2025 classes in Duke recruit Cooper Flagg and A.J. Dybantsa. You'll hear part of our 1-on-1 conversations with Wallace, Durodola and Canada Elite Co-Director Jordan McFarlane, who has coached Durodola on the AAU circuit and mentored him since the fourth grade. You'll also hear why Drayton is taking his team to Franklin Field Friday night for the Owls' next preseason scrimmage that will help the staff make some decisions on the depth chart and also hear from the third-year head coach about why he's taken his time with the single-digit voting. Temple and CFL Hall of Famer Henry Burris joined us on The Scoop this week to share memories from his career on North Broad Street as a record-setting quarterback out of Spiro, Oklahoma. Burris, who recently returned to his alma mater back in May to serve as the Klein College of Media and Communication's commencement speaker at the Liacouras Center, also established himself as a television personality in Canada on CTV Morning Live and TSN and said he used his Temple education to feel comfortable being on camera as a host and analyst. On the field, Burris passed for 7,495 yards and 49 touchdowns against some great competition in the Big East from 1993 to 1996 and earned his way into the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent and saw stints with the Green Bay Packers, where he backed up Brett Favre and Doug Pederson. The relationship he forged with Pederson allowed him to land a spot on his Jacksonville Jaguars staff in 2022 as an offensive quality control coach. This season, he'll be the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida A&M. In the CFL, Burris became a three-time Grey Cup champion, a two-time Grey Cup MVP and a two-time recipient of the CFL's Most Outstanding Player award -- and it all started with a tryout that had Burris throwing to guys off the street wearing slacks and Stacy Adams dress shoes. Burris shared that story and many more on this week's podcast, which also includes some football and basketball recruiting updates and information on how you can vote in the OwlScoop Summertime Madness food bracket championship between Richie's and Maxi's.
Temple guard Quante Berry will be at the Lupus Links Golf Challenge Wednesday at Lafayette Hill's Green Valley Country Club to help raise awareness and money for lupus research. It's a cause that's quite important to the redshirt-sophomore point guard, as his sister and mother have both been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease. Participants in Wednesday's outing can meet Berry and face off against him in a Beat the Pro game of arcade pop-a-shot. As a guest on this week's episode of The Scoop, Berry talked about his work with the Lupus Foundation of America, his freshman season at Temple, and why he thinks the Owls are poised to play some meaningful basketball next March. If you're interested in playing at the July 10 Lupus Links Golf Challenge, you can register here.
Temple's Board of Trustees unanimously appointed John Fry as the university's 15th president Wednesday morning, and we talked on this week's episode of The Scoop about how Drexel's former president might impact the Owls' athletic programs. Fry, who has served as Drexel's president for the last 14 years and helped it raise more than $800 million over a five-year span from 2017 to 2022, spoke with The Temple News Wednesday about a number of topics, including athletics. Temple's student newspaper shared some of that audio with OwlScoop that you'll hear on the Scoop, including Fry's initial thoughts on Temple's lease agreement with the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field and what he would like to see change in order for the Owls to be successful. And in the mailbag, OwlScoop editors John DiCarlo and Kyle Gauss answered questions about how Adam Fisher and his staff might use their last available scholarship for the 2024 class and if the Owls have a good enough roster to potentially earn an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. After completing an internship back home in Milan with his Temple MBA program, Matteo Picarelli returned to North Broad Street this week to practice with some of the players who helped the Owls advance to the American Athletic Conference championship game, along with several more he hopes will lift Temple to a conference title and into the NCAA Tournament. Transfer portal additions like Jamal Mashburn Jr., Lynn Greer III, Jameel Brown, Elijah Gray and Mohammed Keita could create more open looks for Temple's best returning three-point shooter, and he hopes to do the same for them. “Last year, maybe we didn't have as many threats from three, so teams were able to focus a lot of their attention on me,” Picarelli told OwlScoop.com. “Hopefully this year, with some more threats, it will open things up for me, and hopefully I can keep opening things up for others at the end of the day.” In addition to our 1-on-1interview with Picarelli, listeners will hear several Temple football and basketball recruiting updates, answers to their mailbag questions, and where things stand with the OwlScoop Summertime Madness bracket that will crown a champion of the best food on campus.
