It was a disappointing few days of missed opportunities between Ireland's penalty shootout loss in the World Cup playoff and the Cork footballers' narrow defeat in Croke Park. You could make the case that Meath deserved their Division 2 success but John Cleary's side, like Ireland, were in a strong position to end their 16-year wait for national silverware. The Rebels haven't won at Croker since 2015 and when Chris Óg Jones hit the net early in the second half to build on a two-point half-time lead, they looked well set. However, Meath hit eight unanswered points in a nightmare period where Cork lost eight out of their nine kick-outs and failed to score for 16 minutes. Questions will be answered about the Rebels' set-up on restarts and Patrick Doyle's deliveries. Meath had clearly learned their lessons from the Páirc Uí Rinn meeting. There were positives though. Jones, notwithstanding a couple of missed goal chances in the first half, impressed as he bagged 1-3 while Steven Sherlock was sublime, nailing 0-9. Daniel O'Mahony was a powerhouse again. The refereeing performance of Kerry man Brendan Griffin certainly didn't endear him to Cork fans, as he failed to award any frees to Cork inside the scoring zone for fouls. Sherlock's only placed ball came from dissent following a sideline. The weakness of the new hooter rule was also exposed, with Meath able to foul with impunity in the last minute, though Cork were also guilty of failing to get a shot off coming down the stretch with they trailed by two points after a great Brian Hurley goal.On the football front, the Echo Podcast crew also look at the weekend action in the local leagues. The hurlers head to TUS Gaelic Grounds for a sell-out Division 1 league final on Easter Sunday. The holders arguably have a free shot given last year they ended a 27-year wait to lift that title but seeing as it's Limerick they're facing, no quarter will be given. If there's any pressure, it's on Limerick who won't want a repeat of last year's Munster final loss on their own turf. John Kiely's side will be pumped to the last and look to test Cork's young hurlers like Barry Walsh and William Buckley as well as Ciarán Joyce's capability as a full-back.We all know, of course, verything hinges on championship and Cork have a very difficult eight-day start where they face Tipp and Limerick. The U20s got their campaign up and running away to Tipp and put up a fine display as underdogs though a red card ultimately cost them. Now in its fourth season, every week Éamonn Murphy is joined by The Echo team, including Barry O'Mahony, Denis Hurley, Rory Noonan, Jack McKay, John Horgan and more to discuss all the latest Cork GAA news on and off the field. I'm pumped for this one because I met Tanner Kim and Sean Kroker in person at the World Sports Philanthropy Network in Chicago—and their hearts grabbed me immediately. These guys are college seniors with the same pressure everyone feels at that age: career decisions, money, direction, and the constant “what are you doing next?” questions. But what makes Tanner and Sean different is they're not just talking about purpose—they're building it in real time. We get into what it actually means when people say “it's the Lord's timing,” and why that doesn't mean sitting still—it means moving forward with faith, holding your plan loosely, and staying obedient to what's in front of you. Then we go deep into what they're building: The League of Angels, a nonprofit using baseball to serve kids with special needs—and it's already exploding. What started as a small idea Tanner felt dropped on his heart turned into real impact fast: events, volunteers, families, and moments that will straight-up wreck you in the best way—like an Angel telling Tanner, “I never thought I'd get to be a baseball player for a day… I never thought I could hit a home run.” Sean breaks down the reality of building a nonprofit like a startup—raising money, learning the IRS ropes, and getting comfortable asking for support. This episode is faith, leadership, and action—plus the reminder that sometimes God leaves two doors open, and both choices can be okay.We Meet: Tanner Kim, Founder of League of Angels & Sean Croker, Operations and Community Builder Connect:Connect with Rick: https://linktr.ee/mrrickjordanConnect with Tanner & Sean: https://www.theleagueofangels.org/ Sean's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/seancroker/?hl=enTanner's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tkim42/?hl=enLeague of Angels Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFYi36kvTnt/?hl=enSubscribe & Review to ALL IN with Rick Jordan on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@mrrickjordan

We explore how rugby's core values have shaped James's leadership philosophy, the commercial transformation at Bournemouth Rugby and his mission to build a true sense of belonging in the local business community. Defensive protectors for oars and sculls to prevent the paint wearing off and the spoon degrading. Things you can do to preserve the spoons and handles. Timestamps 00:45 Oars get wear and tear You paint the spoons in the club colours and the paint wears in the middle of the back of the oar and the tips of the blades get worn off at the corners (so you no longer have a sharp corner). Defensive protectors for oars Our dock is wood and the surface gets greasy and is a slip hazard. We put non-slip matting onto the dock - water drains through the holes. The brand is Ako Matting and is recommended for ice, snow and water uses. The downside is the surface is abrasive on oars because of the non-slip elements. 03:00 Rules for oars We have a rule that when you land and leave the dock we always put our oars tip side down on the dock. This helps to preserve the paint and stop the wear patterns on the back of the oars. Tips down meant we got wear on the tip of the blade. Croker Oars have tip protectors - little triangles which fit over the corners and you superglue in place. https://www.crokeroars.com/product-page/row-tip-protectors-pair-4-tips The plastic takes the wear rather than the carbon oar. Concept2 oar users can use the vortex edge - it's a strip which goes along the length of the oar tip. https://www.concept2.com/oars/sculls/blades#vortexedge The wear on the tip of the oars reduces the surface area of the spoon. And the wear is always in the same direction - my sculls ended up thinner than 3mm. This is the legal minimum for World Rowing rules - I had to sand down the tips of the blade to restore the minimum 3mm. 05:30 Protective decals A scuff pack kit made to protect the back of the oar from rubbing when your oars are on the bank. Defensive protectors for oars https://crayfishrowing.com/shop/ols/products/scuffpatch-kit-for-two-oars and the Croker oar corners Lastly - blade wraps - vinyl that is pre-printed with your club colours and they are cut to the oar spoon shape. Use a heat gun to apply them and it also gives some protection to the oar spoon. https://regattaprint.com/blade-wraps-team-sweep-oars/ How to wrap oars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxcaeTeOz_g&t=10s Take care of your oars to make them last longer. If you paint your oars the old fashioned way is to sand them and use marine-grade gloss paint with undercoat and topcoat paint layers. Others have used spray can car paint too. We had stickers (decals) of the club logo made to put on the shaft of the oars so that they can be identified - helpful if you don't paint your oars and they look the same as every other club. Easy for them to get lost at a regatta. Want easy live streams like this? Instant broadcasts to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn. With over 70,000 packed into Croker on Sunday for the NFL game between the Steelers and the Vikings, it's safe to say it won't be the last time we see a game like this in Ireland. It was a bit of a culture shock however for GAA and rugby fans including Donal Lenihan and Marty Morrissey.

Up for the MatchOff on Sunday morning to Croke Park. Dark skies. Lots of grey clouds. Our journey was delayed by Féile An Phobail's 5km and 10km run. Diverted and distracted we eventually got out of West Belfast and on the road to Dublin. Enroute the dark skies lightened. The grey clouds gave way to blue heavens and gentle sunshine. We were off to watch Antrim's Lady Footballers in our own All Ireland against Louth. As we crossed the Border KneeCap kept our spirits high. Their ceol blasted out and the car rocked as we hip hopped to the Capital. A morning after the night before follow-on from Saturday evening's Falls Park Country frolicks. The match in Croker started off positively with Antrim taking an early lead but Louth soon asserted themselves and Antrim was chasing the game from then until the last ten minutes. Some of the players may have been overwhelmed by the big occasion.  If so who could blame them? To play in Croke is mighty and Antrim supporters were out in strength. Everyone, including us, as proud as could be.  Family members, club mates. The number of Northern Gaels was swelled by Tyrone supporters who later went on to win their championship against Laois. Dublin went on to best Meath in the Seniors. A great day of Gaelic football.Gaza – An Gorta Mór – The StarvationThe scenes of desperation as starving people in Gaza try to get basins or pots filled with soup, are shocking images. It is a famine we are told. Last week the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a United Nations panel which had long warned of the threat of famine, concluded that it was now a reality. The use of the word ‘famine' and the images of starving children are a reminder for many in Ireland of what life must have been like during An Gorta Mór in the 1840s. But it is important to note that in a famine there is no food. In Ireland there was plenty of food. During those years the quaysides of ports along our coast were lined each day with abundant produce - all bound for export. It was a starvation. The hunger in Gaza is an Israeli made starvation. Aid agencies and the UN have more than enough food and medical aid ready to enter Gaza. Israel prevents this. It is not a famine – it is a starvationOrangism in the New IrelandThe northern statelet was built for unionism. It was constructed and then managed in a way to ensure that nationalists would never have a say in running the place. We are less than three years off the 30th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. Most citizens, and many within the broad unionist section of our people, have grown accustomed to the stability and peace it has brought but there are others who still hanker after the old days of supremacy. The DUP shares the office of the First Minister with Sinn Féin but their strategy is focused on the next Assembly election in two years' time and their aim is to remove Michelle O'Neill as First Minister. That is why there is a battle a day over Irish language rights. That is why there has been no start on building the new Casement. That is why there is negative nonsense over bi-lingual signage in public places.
