When Jordan Hayles was just nine years old, he sat wide-eyed in the studio of The National, mesmerized by the lights, the cameras, and the grand chair behind the anchor's desk. That early spark turned into a flame in high school, where he discovered the power of editing through mashups and music videos. Years later, he's become one of Canada's most thoughtful editors, with a career that's spanned lifestyle TV, independent film, and corporate campaigns, including the unforgettable NBA Championship video for the Toronto Raptors that left him in tears at the edit suite. In this episode of The Visual Intonation Podcast, we dive into the journey of a post-production powerhouse whose path was paved by hustle, humility, and heart. From his beginnings at Mohawk College to his early days cutting tape, Jordan shares how a passion for storytelling and a relentless belief in his skills guided him through spaces where Black editors are often few and far between. His work at Vice, CBC, MLSE, and on hit series like Next Stop and TallBoyz speaks to a career built not just on talent, but on connection, mentorship, and vision. But Jordan's story isn't just about credits and cuts, it's about community. He reflects on giving back through volunteer work at the Nia Centre for the Arts, mentoring the next generation of BIPOC creators, and how being “STiXX”—his self-branded identity born from being the skinny kid—became a badge of pride. Jordan doesn't just edit for the screen; he edits with purpose, helping others see a place for themselves in a space that too often overlooks them. Tune in as Jordan Hayles brings raw honesty, sharp insight, and infectious inspiration to the mic. Whether he's talking about crying in an edit suite or getting discovered on a Twitter thread, he reminds us that this industry isn't just about who you know, it's about what you show. And Jordan's been showing us excellence, one frame at a time. The Wests Tigers are out to make it two wins in a row when they meet the Dragons in Magic Round. Coming off that memorable win against the Sharks on Sunday afternoon, we meet the fellow top-eight aspirants in Brisbane on Saturday night. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Steve Stretton and Declan McCutcheon. The trio gives their thoughts on the "Leichhardt Oval miracle" and how the home fans helped get the boys across the line. Speaking of Leichhardt, Eddie raises the club's future stadium strategy and asks whether the advantage we seem to get at the ground is worth diminishing. There's also some debate among the boys on where to now with the Lachlan Galvin situation? Attention turns to the Dragons. The boys give a preview of the St.George-Illawarra clash with a particular eye on the importance of beating our joint-venture rivals. With the Storm next week, then the bye, there are mixed opinions on the pod about what a win or a loss could mean for the Wests Tigers' season. There are more changes at the Holman Barnes Group (will this ever end?). Steve gives an update on what's happening. Just remember, though, these are not changes or dramas (at this stage at least) at Wests Tigers! After an autumn break, 'Buy, Sell, or Hold' has made a triumphant return with Eddie coming up with some great conversation starters, including: Is Sunia Turuva the best Wests Tigers winger of all time? Did Sione Fainu milk that game-winning penalty against Cronulla? Penrith will miss the top eight this year? And that sneaky Steve has managed to find his way out of competing in Yioti's Quiz - he's taken over asking the questions! We hope you enjoy this mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. Don't forget to join the discussion on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, and we'll see you for hopefully another post-win edition of the pod early next week!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"I'm here at the airport. I'm about to board my flight for San Salvador. The goal of this mission is to let the Trump administration, to let the government of El Salvador know we are gonna keep fighting. What bullies do is they begin by picking on the most vulnerable. But if we get rid of the rule of law and due process in the United States, it's a short road from there to tyranny." That message came from Sen. Chris Van Hollen moments before boarding his flight to El Salvador this morning. He's traveling to demand the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident currently detained in a Salvadoran prison. Meanwhile, two House Democrats — Reps. Robert Garcia and Maxwell Frost — are requesting an official congressional delegation (or CODEL) to visit the prison where Trump's deportees are being held. But here's the catch: a Republican committee chair has to sign off. Without it, lawmakers can go informally, but they lose access to security protections and oversight power.
