Wests Tigers showed fans plenty of skill, heart, and determination to defeat the Panthers in last Friday night's trial match at Leichhardt Oval. In front of a healthy Leichhardt crowd, Wests Tigers turned a two-point deficit into a 16-point win, 26-12.On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel, Josh, and Nick put a fine-tooth comb right through the performance. Taking on a near full-strength Panthers side, our guys stood up and accounted for themselves, despite missing some quality Tigers players, including Royce Hunt, Terrell May, Jeral Skelton, and Kai Pearce-Paul.Some of the other main talking points on this edition of the podcast include:Is Heamasi Makasini the most exciting local junior since Tedesco?Has Alex Twal grabbed that number 13 jersey for round two?Did Adam Doueihi cement himself into the 7 jersey for this season? What did we make of the debut performance of Bunty Afoa? Are the ongoing contract negotiations affecting Jahream Bula? While we also look at some of the fantastic performances put in by the young Wests Tigers stars, such as Jack Attard, Jared Haywood, and Javon Andrews. And we run through all the many 'One Word' submissions left by our loyal members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. When young people began disappearing in Argentina, their mothers searched for answers. Despite laws prohibiting protests and political gatherings, the women still met to walk the Plaza de Mayo, a central square in Buenos Aires near the president's residence. The government worked to deny their reports of the missing, to discredit the women, and to erode their standing among their peers. But the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo persisted. Dr. Laura Tedesco joins us to share about her own childhood in Argentina during the military junta of the 1970s, her expertise on the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, and what authoritarianism then and now looks like, as we take a deep dive into her article “How Government Killings and Kidnappings in Argentina drove mothers to resist and revolt – and eventually win,” published in The Conversation on January 27, 2026. This episode explores: features of authoritarianism, liberation theology, the death flights, Nunca Mas, human rights, fear, mothers' activism, and how a society can react to state terrorism. Our guest is: Dr. Laura Tedesco, who is an Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations. She specializes in Latin American Politics, Political Leadership, Political Corruption, and the dynamics of Authoritarianism and Democracy. Since 2024, Dr. Tedesco has served as the Associate Dean for Humanities and Social Sciences at Saint Louis University's Madrid campus. From 2016 to 2024, she led a research grant funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), focusing on the political role of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (FAR) in Cuba. Additionally, from 2009 to 2021, she directed a research project sponsored by the Open Society Institute, examining political leadership in Latin America. Since 2024, Dr. Tedesco has served as the Associate Dean for Humanities and Social Sciences at Saint Louis University's Madrid campus. On this episode of The Jon Gordon Podcast, I sit down with Matthew Tedesco, SVP at Miller Knoll and author of The Business Buffet, the very first official release from Gordon Publishing! We dig into the real-world leadership and communication skills that business schools leave out. If you're looking for simple, practical takeaways to elevate your leadership and strengthen your team, this episode is for you. About Matthew, Matthew Tedesco is the author of The Business Buffet: 15 Career Skills They Never Teach—But Everyone Expects You to Know, which distills two decades of global leadership into practical lessons on communication, connection, and culture. He is a senior global business leader, where he has led teams across Asia, North America, and Europe, launched new divisions, and guided organizations through periods of transformation and change. His approach to leadership was shaped not just in the boardroom, but also while studying improv at Second City in New York, where he learned that authentic connection comes from listening and responding—not delivering a script. He also serves as board chair for Global Nomads Group, a nonprofit that expands education and opportunity for youth worldwide. Outside of work, Matthew is a musician (under the name NJMJ), photographer, and lifelong storyteller. He grew up on Long Island in a blue-collar family where hard work and education weren't just values—they were survival. Today, he lives with his wife, teenage son, and their Labradoodle, who has never once respected a conference call when the mailman shows up. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
