'Remember the movie Jerry Maguire? There was a spot in the movie where Cuba Gooding Jr. was telling Jerry he needed the Quan. Quan is everything. It's the respect, the authority, the love, the intimacy, and it was the money. It was everything, and almost indescribable. That character in the movie was describing the thing he wanted most, and it wasn't just one thing. It was everything, in this harmonious unified soup of life.' ~ Gunther Mueller In this episode, Gunther and I go down the rabbit hole of what it means to be a superconscious creator and to be able to choose what our lives look and feel like. He shares his thoughts on how to stop reacting to the world around us, and instead choose to create the experiences that we want to have. Brenda and Shelley highlight mothers with a special Mother’s Day episode that will touch your heart, encourage you, and make you think. Warm and gracious Southerner Trudy Cathy White, the only daughter of legendary Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy, speaks about legacy, faith, intentionality and motherhood. Like her father, Trudy is a beloved leader, communicator and entrepreneur, as well as a best selling author. She’s an ambassador for the family business that is now the fastest-growing restaurant chain in the country founded on biblical principles, and she was also the youngest operator of a Chick-fil-A store at the age of nineteen. Trudy is now on a mission to keep her father’s dreams alive. Trudy speaks about leaving a legacy and what that looks like practically, how faith has shaped her life in both business and her personal life, and how she wants to be an “intentional mother snd grandmother.” In Trudy’s new book “A Quiet Strength” she details the life of her colorful mother, Jeannette M. Cathy, the true heart and soul of the Truett family. Trudy shares, “My mother had a habit of standing at the door as we were heading to school and saying, 'Remember who you are and whose you are.' Those were powerful words! I always felt motherhood was a special calling from the Lord. No one else can play that role for my children. I don’t think there is any greater reward or joy than investing in the lives of my children." Trudy is fueled by her passion to be “intentional” with her influence and she just launched a new inspiring podcast called “Along the Way,” a heartwarming collection of true stories and life lessons from her personal life. Trudy states, “For me, intentionality means clarity about priorities to determine what really matters to you. You need to understand your purpose in life because that will bring clarity to your priorities and you will focus your time on what matters most to you. One of the practical ways I’m intentional about my time is I’ll sit with my calendar and block off time I want to be intentional with my husband, children or grandchildren. I put all of those things in my calendar first.” Trudy is full of unshakeable faith and wisdom that comes from a life well-lived. The founder of two Gospel-centered ministries Impact 360 Institute and Lifeshape, Trudy adds, “The legacy you leave is the life you’re living now. You don’t leave a legacy, you live a legacy.”

As Mufasa once said- "Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you." So they really question is how do we remove the seeds of doubt and sow the seeds of faith, trust and self-belief? This week we dive into how to have faith, trust and/or self-belief. If you can't trust yourself, who can you trust? So let's dive in and have a little faith in ourselves! Come soak with me!

Elaine Howley (Altered Hours) and Eoin French (Talos) are working together, along with Katie Ellis (Crash Ensemble) on music for Eriu's Threshold, a new multidisciplinary project from the team behind Body & Soul. Featuring an outstanding cast of renowned Irish female talent from the worlds of theatre, dance, film, literature, fashion design, and music, the project interprets the past in response to the current global pandemic. The film features a re-interpretation of Henry Purcell's aria Dido's Lament, which is considered, in classical music, one of the most heart-wrenching portrayals of the passing into death. 'Eriu's Threshold', however, reimagines this aria through the Irish mythological goddess, Eriu. The lament was selected as one of the most powerful and timeless expressions of death and loss. It appeals to us to 'Remember' to remember people, remember where we come from, who we are... It sounds like a fascinating project - you can register for free to watch the film, which premieres on Saturday, February 13 on Bodyandsoul.ie.
In our work-driven culture, it can be hard to rest. And yet, in the Ten Commandments, God commands us to 'Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.' What exactly is God asking of us with this commandment? Does Sabbath rest just mean taking a day off? Or is there more to it than that? Join us as we trace the spiritual discipline of Sabbath rest through Scripture to better understand what God designed Sabbath for. Together we’ll evaluate commonly held ideas and traditions about the Sabbath, consider healthy ways to keep the Sabbath, and discover how cultivating this time-honored practice can strengthen our faith and draw us closer into relationship with our Creator God.

Our God does not operate in guilt and shame. The love story that is recorded in your bible boldly declares that there is no height nor depth that God will not go to reconcile you back to Him.
Grief has a way of being universal, but also unique, and in today's discussion with Crystal Webster we discuss just how challenging and taboo grief can be in our society. After the untimely death of her infant daughter, Crystal struggled to regain her sense of purpose and identity. She lived every day waiting to die, until she realized that she needed to make a change. Crystal has been able to turn her grief into an organization that helps others, but it was not an easy road. "Everything happens, you find the reason." More about Crystal: Her infant daughter died in her arms in 2010 (8 hours after she was born) from a genetic condition. Because of that condition, Crystal was unable to have more children, even after 3 rounds of IVF in 2 states over 5 years. One in 4 women experience a pregnancy loss or infant death and 1 in 8 couples deal with infertility. Crystal states, "My story is not that 'special' but in the moment it feels like no one can even start to understand." She founded a company, Sharing Solace, founded on the principle 'Remember. You're not alone.' and wrote a book talking specifically about how we WANT our grief to be special (and it is in many ways) but it is not completely unique. We don't have to feel alone and there are similarities in our stories - if we choose to see them. Continue following Crystal's journey at www.sharingsolace.com or on Facebook or Instagram @sharingsolace xoxo, Jessi This is My Truth is a newly launched podcast, and I'd love to know what you think! After an epic, heart-rending, wildfire ravaged past 10 days in Southern Oregon (and on the entire west coast of the U.S. and in the world). I decided to pull out my interview with Francis Weller from 2 years ago for the documentary RE:MEMBER, as it is more relevant and important than ever and the interview in its entirety has not been publicly shared! Francis Weller is a psychotherapist, writer and soul activist. He is a master of synthesizing diverse streams of thought from psychology, anthropology, mythology, alchemy, indigenous cultures and poetic traditions. Author of The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief. He founded and directs WisdomBridge, an organization that offers educational programs that seek to integrate the wisdom from indigenous cultures with the insights and knowledge gathered from western poetic, psychological and spiritual traditions. In this episode we talk about: – Welcoming grief and apprenticing to grief – Obsession with happiness in our culture – How grief keeps us current – Ritual and going deep into the well of grief – Containment and release and the need for community – Soulful repetition vs. superficial repetition – Correlation between the currency of sorrow and currency of joy – Building communal strength – Practices that help provide ballast – Coping doesn’t get us there where soul wants to take us – The ecology of the sacred — the sanity of knowing trouble will come and the only way through is together – The San Bushmen – When one of us is ill, we’re all ill – A living culture is one that knows what the people require in order for the soul to survive – Community first vs. me first – We are devouring our world because of a profound emptiness and at the heart of that is the grief of the loss of living culture – The broken heart that allows us to feel again – Ancient memory that remembers how we wept together – We cannot do this grief work alone – Right now we are desperate, we can’t pretend it’s not happening – Amnesia around grief work – Ancient Scandinavian village practice with people in grief — sleeping in the cinders — living in the ashes – Grief is holy work — Rilke – Divine quality to the descent, god of the depths – Those who stay faithful to the journey of grief, will be our elders – Blake — emotions as divine influxes – What does it want from me? How do I serve this? – Alchemy — make the black blacker than black, move towards the darkness with fidelity – Suffering will come to you, it’s part of being in the body – Rough initiation — severing; can’t go back; ending of something; to step into a larger identity – Everything you love you will lose; to be faithful to that love, you must be faithful to this grief – Every living culture had ritual at its center to maintain itself – We moved away from it to intellectualism – Ritual has the capacity to derange us — part of psyche that speaks in art, beauty, song – Healing must address the psychological, the sociological, and the cosmological – Healing repairs what is torn and prepares for what is to come – Soul activism – To be re-dreamt – Ritual comes out of the land – Victor Turner — “communitas" Support the podcast here: https://www.patreon.com/astemperaturesrise More about Francis Weller: www.francisweller.net/ RE:MEMBER where grief and beauty co-exist: www.rememberdoc.com/ As Temperatures Rise website: www.astemperaturesrise.com/ Music is "Time of Sorrow" by Martin Carlberg
