So much of this industry is about connections.” “I think you should get involved in short films if you can, so you start to develop a reel.” “It’s more important than ever to have a great self-tape setup. It doesn’t have to cost a lot.” “Trust that your agent or manager are doing everything they can to get you seen.” “Your rep should be passionate about you.” “If you want to be a great theatre actor, go to college.” You should do community theatre. It’s great. That’s the first step to getting over stage fright.” “Patience is very important in this industry.” “Win the room, not the role. If you win the room, they’ll keep calling you back over and over.”     Follow Sherry Kayne here:   Website:                     https://moxieartists.com/   Instagram:                 @sherrykayne

In this Live podcast review of Captain Marvel after an advanced screening, the following people agreed and strongly disagreed on some questions we asked.  (Guests - Dre, Natasha Mayet, Jennifer Molnar and Akil DuPont) Hosted by:  JB Smith, Zonga Fielding and Amanda Ray Was this a better origin story than other Marvel movies? Comparing Captain Marvel’s wrecking action to other Marvel superheroes like Blade. Certain scenes were in the mood of Star Trek movies Comparing Brie Larson to Gal Gadot in Wonder Women Did this film have a bit of a Superman feel to it? Did it handle the pressure to succeed given Marvel’s first female led superhero movie? Was she believable in having the power to destroy Thanos?? Fitting 90’s music and fashion with the NIN (Nine Inch Nails) t-shirt Talos played by Ben Mendelsohn was awesome! Was very funny charismatic and did a great job acting through the make-up. The group ranked Captain Marvel from a scale of 1-10 between 7-9. A missed opportunity to pull us into a bigger cause than her own. The actresses that played Carol Danvers best friend Maria Rambeau played by Lashana Lynch and her daughter Monica Rambeau, played by Akira Akbar, were fantastic!   And the passing of Carols jacket to Monica sparked conversation about their backstories in the comic books. Like Monica becoming the next Captain Marvel and characters: Kree warrior Mar-Vell and Captain Britain. Kevin Feige’s decision making for this film.

Kriss, Ro, Brandon and Ashley review the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel. This is Marvel's first solo film for a female character and they do a pretty good job. Brie Larson does a great job (despite all the white fanboy hate prior to the film) and really owns the role of Carol. We also talk about how Lashana Lynch and Akira Akbar should be getting more praise for their roles in this film and how their characters help this movie avoid some tropes that happen with female characters. This film also serves as a semi-origin story for Nick Fury and fits well into filling in th history of the MCU and how we got to the point of bringing the Avengers together. Stay for the two after credit scenes (the first being the one to get you hype for End Game) and the Stan Lee Tribute and cameo will make you cry.  Like what you hear?
