The Avengers: Doomsday trailer has fans convinced there are two Doctor Dooms in this movie, and that one of them might not be Robert Downey Jr. at all. Frank and Squeaks break down the eye color, the two suits, and the Cillian Murphy voice theory, then look at what happens to Marvel when Kevin Feige's contract runs out in 2027. From there it turns into a full state of the franchises. The Feige succession list runs from Brad Winderbaum to Louis D'Esposito to one genuine wild card pick, before Star Wars gets put on the table: the Ahsoka trailer, Thrawn's return, Starfighter, and whether the Rey movie ever actually happens. Then Pirates of the Caribbean, where Disney is reportedly writing two competing scripts, and Frank pitches the real seventeenth century pirate queen whose story would beat both of them. Plus a Dungeon Crawler Carl check-in and a Question of the Week about how you would prove someone is an alien. 0:00 Intro and BlizzCon Countdown 1:34 Question of the Week: How Do You Test for an Alien 3:16 The Two Doctor Dooms Theory 11:05 Who Replaces Kevin Feige in 2027 22:36 Star Wars Without the Skywalker Name 29:33 Ahsoka, Thrawn, and the Sequel Era Gaps 34:15 Pirates of the Caribbean and Its Two Competing Scripts 46:22 Dungeon Crawler Carl Check-In Key takeaways: The two Doom theory rests on three small trailer details: the eyes reading green in one shot and closer to blue in another, two distinct suits, and a voice some fans think sounds more like Cillian Murphy than RDJ. There is precedent too, since dueling Dooms from different universes is the current main story in Marvel Rivals. Frank's argument for a recast is about longevity. RDJ's betrayal only works once as a surprise, so if Doom is meant to carry the MCU past Secret Wars, you need an actor you can keep around. The Feige succession shortlist: Brad Winderbaum brings television experience and would likely greenlight Midnight Sons immediately, Louis D'Esposito is the operations veteran who would need a creative partner like the Russos, and Frank's wild card is Iman Vellani, who is now writing comics for Marvel and Image. Both hosts want Star Wars to break from the Skywalker name completely, with Dave Filoni doing for the sequels what The Clone Wars did for the prequels. Frank also makes the case that Ahsoka, not Rey, is the real heir to the Anakin lineage. Disney has two Pirates scripts in play, one led by Margot Robbie as Red and one featuring younger versions of the original cast. Squeaks calls the Red version predictable, and Frank counters with Zheng Yi Sao, a real pirate commander the Chinese government eventually had to negotiate with instead of fight. Frank: "I'd actually respect Marvel for keeping a secret for once." Frank: "I've been hurt too many times by Kevin Feige." Squeaks: "It's time to go away from the Skywalker in total." Frank: "The true descendant to Anakin is not Rey. It's not even Luke. Frankly, it is Ahsoka." Squeaks: "That's the same thing we see everywhere. Find something new."
Podcastfolge.
Marvel Studios has found its Scott Summers. Deadline reports that Kit Connor is the pick for Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot, with the decision landing last week between Marvel president Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier.Frank breaks down why this casting works and what it signals for the next era of the MCU. Connor is in the middle of a serious run right now, coming off Netflix's Heartstopper, Alex Garland's A24 war film Warfare, and the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation. Schreier, meanwhile, is coming straight off Thunderbolts, which earns him a lot of goodwill heading into a franchise this size. The bigger story is the shape of the roster. With Samara Weaving attached to Emma Frost and Sadie Sink revealed as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the picture forming here is a noticeably younger X-Men team than longtime fans are used to seeing on screen. Frank makes the case that this is a deliberate reset, not a compromise, and that casting the field captain this young means Marvel is building a team meant to grow over many years.Quick headline drop, strong opinion, and a full discussion coming on the next Geek Freaks Podcast.0:00 Marvel Casts Its New Cyclops0:04 Why Kit Connor Is Everywhere Right Now0:16 Does He Look the Part as Scott Summers0:19 Feige and Jake Schreier Made the Call0:23 The Thunderbolts Factor0:31 A Younger X-Men Roster Comes Into Focus0:40 Your Turn on the CastingKit Connor is Marvel Studios' choice to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, per a Deadline exclusive. The call was made last week by Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier after a casting process that ran through the summer.Schreier directed Thunderbolts, and that track record is a big reason confidence is high on this project.Connor's recent run includes Heartstopper on Netflix, A24's Warfare, and the Elden Ring film adaptation.Connor slots in alongside another Netflix breakout, with Sadie Sink already revealed as Jean Grey.Samara Weaving is attached to Emma Frost, so three mutants are now spoken for.The through line across all of it is age. This is a younger team than any live-action X-Men lineup we have seen, and it points toward a long runway for the franchise.Scott Summers first appeared in 1963's The X-Men #1 from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and has anchored the team as field leader ever since."We have our Cyclops.""Kit Connor's on fire right now.""Frankly, Kit looks like a perfect Scott Summers in my opinion.""Damn, Thunderbolts was good.""A much younger cast than maybe we're familiar with, and I think a sign for the future of the MCU.""No complaints on my side."What do you think about Kit Connor joining the team? Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Tom Holland's fourth outing as Peter Parker/Spider-Man opened to a massively successful box office, shattering the domestic opening record previously held by Avengers: Endgame, and raking in nearly $1 billion globally in its first weekend alone - so while it beat Endgame's North American opening take, it comes in just behind it globally. Not a bad start for Disney and Marvel Studios as the conversation around superhero movies ebbs and flows in the zeitgeist. Those numbers exclude the premium IMAX format, as Spidey couldn't web up those screens due to The Odyssey still holding all IMAX screens. While Marvel is on their Spidey high, other headlines have circled the news this week - some good and some disappointing. On a positive note - Samara Weaving has reportedly been cast as Emma Frost. Horror fans will recognize Weaving from the Ready or Not films. Obsession breakout star Inde Navarette confirmed her meeting with Jake Schreier and she mentioned interest in playing Mystique. And for the bad news, Wonder Man will not get a season two after all - even though it was confirmed earlier this year - and both Kevin Feige and Maershala Ali expressed regret about the Blade film; with Feige admitting he feels like a failure for not getting it off the ground and Ali saying he's done with the project. Last week, DC Studios and HBO's Booster Gold series writer David Jenkins said that the project is no longer moving forward. Shortly after he made this statement, IGN reported that the series will, in fact, be moving forward, but with a new creative team. The New York Times reported that Barbie 2 is currently stalled, with Warner Bros. struggling to come to terms with lead talent Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, and Ryan Gosling. The studio has until December to reach a deal before the right revert back to Mattel. Stephen King's 1996 novel Desperation is getting a film adaptation from Final Destination: Bloodlines directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. Sam Raimi will also produce the feature, his first time working with King. Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Jumanji: Open World, which opens in theaters on December 25. The film returns franchise stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan. Amazon MGM Studios is developing a Warhammer 40k animated event series alongside the upcoming live-action version, sources close to the project confirmed to Deadline. Additionally, Henry Cavill, who is set to star, is also on board to be an executive producer.Dave Bautista is in talks to take on the lead role of Kratos in Prime Video's God of War series, replacing Ryan Hurst, who had to drop out of production after he sustained an on set stunt injury. Mary Holland, Star of Ghosts and The Little House on the Prairie, has been cast in a lead role as Sandra in the upcoming DC Studios and HBO Max Superman spin off series that centers on Jimmy Olsen. In a recent interview with Inverse, Jessica Henwick revealed that she declined an offer to reprise her role as Colleen Wing in Daredevil: Born Again season three because she wants to protect the character's perfect ending in Netflix's Iron Fist.
Kristian Harloff breaks down the biggest movie and TV news stories of the day, led by major new comments from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige following the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Feige opens up about the future of Spider-Man 5, addresses Sadie Sink's MCU future following her debut in Brand New Day, and shares his thoughts on whether superhero fatigue is still a concern for Marvel. Plus, new reports suggest the next James Bond actor could finally be revealed before the end of the year, the director of Fast Forever admits he hasn't even read the script yet, Dave Bautista is reportedly set to lead Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, and Mary Holland joins DC Studios' upcoming Jimmy Olsen series. Today's show is headlined by Kevin Feige's latest comments about the future of Spider-Man in the MCU. Kristian discusses what Feige revealed about Spider-Man 5, the future of Sadie Sink's character after Brand New Day, and whether Marvel has finally turned the corner on concerns surrounding superhero fatigue. The episode also covers the latest James Bond casting update, surprising news surrounding Fast Forever, Dave Bautista's reported role in God of War, and another casting addition to DC Studios' Jimmy Olsen series. NOW LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!After The Amazing Spider-Man 2 failed to justify Sony going it alone, a deal with Marvel to share a new take on the character for the MCU was soon inked. This eventually led to the web-head's appearance in Civil War, but more importantly, his own movie -- one that promised to be more fun, low-scale, and fully integrated into the house that Feige built. Though it succeeded critically and commercially upon release, many have questioned its integrity as a Peter Parker story in how it tones down the drama, involves characters like Iron Man, and so on. So, after nine years, what do we think? Come join Brian, Alec, Darby, and Trey to find out as they continue the Spider-Marathon and return to the MCU with Tom's first solo movie -- SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING!

Was hätte anders laufen sollen?
