Interview with Blake Hylands, CEO, Lithium Ionic Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/lithium-ionic-tsxvlth-low-cost-brazil-mine-ready-for-2027-production-as-market-rebalances-8304Recording date: 9th December 2025Lithium Ionic is positioning itself to capitalize on a dramatic market recovery as lithium prices have tripled since mid-2025, driven by energy storage demand exceeding initial projections. CEO Blake Hylands reports the company's stock has doubled during this period but remains "massively undervalued" relative to improving fundamentals and the company's proximity to construction. The company is advancing its Brazilian lithium project with a manageable $191 million capital requirement and industry-leading economics. At $600 all-in sustaining costs, the project maintains profitability even when spot prices dipped to $800-900, providing crucial downside protection that higher-cost competitors lack. Current spot prices around $1,200 offer healthy margins, with the project's feasibility study using conservative assumptions below today's pricing.Hylands emphasised that 2026 represents a transformational year, with construction targeted to begin by mid-year. The company has assembled the experienced "Sigma team" that successfully built the Sigma Lithium project, providing execution credibility and enabling an 18-24 month timeline to production once construction commences. This speed advantage is significant, as competing projects remain 5-10 years from production.Progress on project financing has accelerated substantially, with the company "being inundated with offtake and prepay opportunities" as market participants rush to secure future supply. Multiple lenders have expressed interest in financing the entire project, with discussions spanning China, North America, and other jurisdictions. The financing structure will incorporate near-term debt followed by lower-cost options including export credit agencies and government-backed facilities. The permitting process is advancing through new regional procedures, with strong federal and state government support. Both financing and permits are expected to conclude early in 2026, clearing the path for construction. Hylands set clear accountability metrics, stating "anything less than that, I'd be disappointed" regarding the company's ability to announce financing completion, permit approval, and construction commencement by year-end 2026.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/lithium-ionic-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Jay Ruane and Seth Price explore the dilemma of maintaining firm culture and accountability in a post-COVID, remote world. Jay is considering implementing "anchor days" to bring the team together periodically. They debate the viability of staffing low-cost, in-office receptionist/utility roles in different geographical markets, noting how AI displacement is creating a pool of experienced, non-legal candidates. The discussion pivots to internal struggles with delegation and accountability, highlighted by an employee who refuses to sign a PIP, forcing the owners to consider redesigning the role around the 70% of the job the employee excels at. Is remote work killing your firm? Find out if "anchor days" are the necessary solution to fix accountability and culture slippage.#RemoteWork #LawFirmOperations #StaffAccountability

What if the problem is not your motivation to recover, but a system that makes eating disorder treatment almost impossible to afford? In this conversation, I sit down again with Leslie Jordan Garcia @liberatiwellness. Leslie is a wellness strategist, certified eating disorder recovery coach, and Treatment Access Program Manager at Project HEAL. In this episode, we discuss real, concrete pathways to free and low-cost eating disorder care. We also talk about why you cannot separate eating disorder recovery from social justice, intersectionality, and body hierarchies. Leslie breaks down how Project HEAL removes financial and systemic barriers, how people from marginalized communities can apply, and how providers can join the Healer's Circle to offer justice-focused, values-aligned care. In this episode, we talk about What Project HEAL is and how it works to remove financial and systemic barriers to eating disorder care in the United States The four major Project HEAL programs and how to apply for: Community Care groups for BIPOC folks Cash assistance that covers tertiary costs like rent, pet boarding, and transportation Outpatient treatment placement with sliding scale and pro bono providers Insurance navigation support and help with single case agreements Who qualifies for Project HEAL services, including people in all U.S. states and territories, and how they prioritize folks from communities that are historically and systemically marginalized How Leslie matches people with “unicorn providers” who are fat positive, HAES aligned, queer affirming, trauma aware, and non Christian based when needed The difference it makes when someone helps you navigate insurance, access care, and complete applications, especially when executive functioning is low or things feel overwhelming How economic precarity, layoffs, food insecurity, and shifting insurance policies are driving an uptick in applications for eating disorder treatment assistance Why intersectional, identity affirming care is not optional in eating disorder recovery, especially for BIPOC, queer, trans, disabled, and fat clients How Leslie's social justice consulting work with universities, community colleges, and health organizations helps them: Reimagine intake forms and client facing processes Address promotion and salary inequities Create transformational circles where teams talk about harm, stereotypes, and systemic barriers How body hierarchies, food moralization, school fitness testing, and lunch shaming fuel eating disorders for kids and adults Why many people use eating disorders as a survival tool in the context of trauma, capitalism, surveillance, and unsafe systems What true equity and belonging could mean for decreasing the occurrence and severity of eating disorders About our guest: Leslie Jordan Garcia Leslie Jordan Garcia is a wellness strategist, certified eating disorder recovery coach, and social justice consultant dedicated to healing and liberation. She holds dual master's degrees in business and public health and has more than a decade of experience across military, public health, and nonprofit sectors. Through her practice, Liberati Wellness, Leslie offers HAES aligned eating disorder recovery support, inclusive movement support, and equity and identity affirming care. Leslie also partners with organizations like Austin Health Commons and the Hogg Foundation to embed equity and justice into health systems and helping professions. She currently serves as the Treatment Access Program Manager at Project HEAL, where she manages cash assistance and treatment placement and works to match clients with values aligned, culturally responsive providers. You can find Leslie's coaching and consulting work at Liberati Wellness and on Instagram at @liberatiwellness. Inside Project HEAL's pathways to care In this episode, Leslie explains how Project HEAL supports people who are struggling with eating disorders and facing financial and systemic barriers to treatment. She walks us through the main programs: Informed ED (for professionals) A learning program for clinicians and dietitians who are newer to eating disorder treatment. It helps them build skills, reduce harm, and align their work with justice focused values so they can better support clients whose eating disorders are uncovered in general mental health or medical settings. Community Care A free, BIPOC only, 8 week support and process group focused on body liberation, community care, and healing from white supremacist body hierarchies. Cash Assistance Program A program that does not pay individuals directly, but instead covers tertiary costs that often block access to care. This can include rent, transportation, pet boarding, or other essential expenses so that people can actually attend the level of care their team recommends. Treatment Placement Leslie coordinates outpatient treatment placement, connecting people with dietitians, therapists, and other providers who offer sliding scale or pro bono care, especially when insurance does not cover enough dietitian sessions or mental health support. Insurance Navigation Project HEAL helps people understand their insurance benefits, locate in network providers, and pursue options like single case agreements when an appropriate provider is out of network. Leslie also mentions a time limited clinical assessment program for people who know they are struggling in their relationship with food and body but have never had a formal diagnosis. All of these services are free to applicants, and one application can cover multiple programs at once. Who can apply to Project HEAL Leslie shares that Project HEAL is U.S. based, and that includes all 50 states, Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories such as Guam. Anyone in those locations can apply. Project HEAL prioritizes people from communities that have been historically and systemically marginalized, including: BIPOC communities Queer and trans communities People in larger bodies Disabled and chronically ill folks People navigating religious trauma and other layered identities Leslie's role includes reading applications through an intersectional lens, tracking diversity demographics, and making sure that people who face the largest gaps in access are not overlooked. She also notes that if the application itself feels overwhelming, Project HEAL can connect applicants with someone who will help them complete it, which is especially important when executive functioning is low. Intersectionality, social justice, and eating disorder recovery Throughout the conversation, Leslie and I look at how eating disorders are never just about appearance. They are deeply tied to: Trauma and chronic stress How we perceive our bodies and how we believe others perceive our bodies Economic instability, job insecurity, and food insecurity Surveillance of bodies in workplaces, schools, and medical settings Racism, anti-fat bias, ableism, transmisia, and other forms of oppression Leslie talks about clients who restrict food so their children can eat when jobs cut hours, and how people in larger bodies often avoid eating at work because of constant surveillance and judgment, only to experience intense hunger and binge episodes later. We explore how body hierarchies, moralization of food, school fitness testing, and lunch policing create conditions where an eating disorder can become a primary coping strategy. Leslie describes how, over time, this can become deeply embedded, with the brain chemistry colluding with the eating disorder to create a sense of safety that the larger system fails to provide. For Leslie, social justice work is inseparable from eating disorder work. If people had secure access to food, safe housing, living wages, and genuine body equity, many would not need to rely on eating disorders to feel safer, visible, or invisible. Justice work inside systems Leslie also describes her justice work with institutions, including: Facilitating Transformational Circles where diverse team members connect as humans and then talk honestly about processes that exclude or harm people Supporting clinics that operate in queer neighborhoods yet do not see queer clients, and helping them examine what in their client facing processes is pushing people away Working with community colleges on salary and promotion inequities, examining reviews, ranking systems, and feedback processes that keep certain groups from advancing Helping organizations rework intake forms, policies, and internal culture so that equity, belonging, and justicebecome real practices rather than buzzwords She reminds us that what often gets labeled as “DEI” is actually about justice, accessibility, and belonging for everyone, including veterans, people who breastfeed, people who need ramps and accessible bathrooms, and more. How to connect with Project HEAL and Leslie To apply for Project HEAL's Treatment Access programs Visit the Project HEAL website at projectheal.org and look for the section on Treatment Access. One application lets you indicate which services you want, including cash assistance, treatment placement, insurance navigation, and clinical assessment while that program is still active. Both individuals seeking care and providers who want to join the Healer's Circle start on the same site. Providers can share their identities, specialties, body size, languages spoken, and communities they love to serve, which helps Leslie make strong intersectional matches. To work with Leslie as a coach or consultant You can learn more about Leslie's equity and identity affirming eating disorder recovery coaching and social justice consulting at: Website: Liberati Wellness liberatiwellness.com Instagram: @liberatiwellness She currently has a reduced capacity for one to one clients but continues to support individuals and teams through coaching, collaboration with therapists and dietitians, and organizational justice work. If this episode resonated with you If you are struggling with an eating disorder and feel blocked by money, insurance, or access, I hope this episode helps you feel less alone and more resourced. There are people and organizations actively working to break financial barriers to care. If you know someone who could benefit from free or low-cost eating disorder support, especially someone from a marginalized community, please consider sharing this episode with them. You can also support this work by: Following @liberatiwellness and @projectheal Sharing Project HEAL's application info with your community If you are a provider, applying to join the Healer's Circle and offering sliding scale or pro bono care And as always, thank you for listening and for being part of this conversation about justice, embodiment, and eating disorder recovery.

Nanoscience breakthrough puts low-cost, printable electronics on the horizon

Scientists have made a nano breakthrough with a huge potential impact - one that puts printable electronics on the horizon. The scientists have solved a long-standing mystery governing the way layered materials behave, which has yielded a universal, predictive framework for the future of the 2D semiconductor industry [Friday 5th December 2025]. Imagine wearable health sensors, smart packaging, flexible displays, or disposable IoT controllers all manufactured like printed newspapers. The same technology could underpin communication circuits, sensors, and signal-processing components made entirely from solution-processed 2D materials. But until now, finding and developing the 2D materials that could enable such devices was largely trial and error. We hadn't known why some layered materials "electrochemically exfoliate" into nanosheets while others fail completely. Electrochemical exfoliation uses an electrical current to force ions into the layers of a bulk material, weakening the forces that hold them in shape, and causing the material to form thin, 2D nanosheets, if successful - some of which have myriad uses. "Because there has never been the means to predict which materials will behave like this, and produce nanosheets with the properties we need to unlock various applications, only a handful of 2D materials have ever been processed into networks of printed 2D transistors," said Dr Tian Carey, a newly appointed Royal Society-Research Ireland Research Assistant Professor from Trinity College Dublin's School of Physics and AMBER, the Research Ireland Centre for Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research. "Here, we've shown that we can unlock dozens of new 2D semiconductors. We've already fabricated state-of-the-art printed transistors with over 10 new materials, unlocking new circuits for the first time. these include printed digital-to-analogue converters and BASK communication circuits, which are capable of encoding digital messages into high-frequency signals - the fundamental building blocks of modern computing." The key seemingly lies in ensuring "in-plane stiffness" is higher than out-of-plane stiffness. This represents a measure of how resistant the material is to deformation when put under pressure from different perspectives (in-place being along the material; out-of-plane being perpendicular). The research, led by Dr Tian Carey, in collaboration with Prof. Jonathan Coleman and colleagues, now has a predictive framework pinpointing the stiffness thresholds required for successful exfoliation across many different materials. Using this, they created high-aspect-ratio nanosheet inks and built working transistors and circuits from them, including the first printed DACs and communication circuits. Dr Carey added: "It's very exciting to imagine a new wave of electronic innovations, all of which could be manufactured like printed newspapers one day in the future. In theory, this approach could yield abundant low-cost, flexible, and high-performance 2D electronics." "We now also understand from this work that each transistor's performance is limited by junctions between semiconductors rather than by defects within the semiconductors themselves, which is important in helping us direct future efforts. With this in mind, our next step will be to reduce the impact of these 'flake-to-flake' junctions to unlock the next big performance jump." Other collaborating institutions on this work include Politecnico di Milano, TU Delft, EPFL, and UCT Prague. The project received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, for example via the HYPERSONIC project awarded to Prof. Coleman, AMBER; via a Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (project MOVE); and a Royal Society-Research Ireland University Research Fellowship (project THINK). Dr Carey recently secured a prestigious Royal Society University Research Fellowship (URF) to build an independent research group in Trinity. URFs, awarde...

Send us a textI released a free training that shares the 4 steps I use to help clients reduce eczema, inflammation, and food-reaction symptoms by 50%+ in a few months — without restriction or overwhelm. Watch here: christabiegler.com/blueprintThis week, I'm breaking down the simplest, most practical steps I use with clients to spot mold issues and support cleaner indoor air. After talking with naturopathic oncologist Michael Robinson (his new episode airs next week), I was reminded how foundational air and water quality are for immune resilience and cancer prevention. Mold is far more common than most people realize, and with a few inexpensive tools and a calm, empowered approach, you can get a clearer picture of what's happening in your home and your body.KEY TAKEAWAYS: • Mold symptoms can look like skin issues, sinus congestion, yeast, or frequent illness • Stress can reactivate old mold exposures • Check water areas for bubbling floors, stains, or separating walls or baseboards • Use humidity meters in bathrooms and the kitchen • Fans and fast drying prevent many issues • Thermal guns help spot cold or moisture areas • ERMI dust testing is better than air samples • Supporting your nervous system helps immune recovery • I upgraded to Jaspr for stronger filtration and cleaner air⚡Jaspr Air Scrubber Commercial-grade, steel-built, and filters 5× more than typical purifiers. Removes 100% airborne mold (per their testing) in 3 hours and may reduce snoring and throat clearing. $799 ($400 off) with code “lessstressed” through 12/1, then it goes back to $200 off.Episodes Mentioned:245 I split tested urine mycotoxins (mold) and here are my results with Christa317 Environmental Mold Remediation with Michael Rubino, Founder of HomeCleanse334 Mold Remediation Made Easier with Dr. Emily Kiberd336 DIY Mold Inspection & New Construction (Part 2) with Michael Rubino355 Air Quality After Floods and Fires with Mike FeldsteinCLICK HERE for more mold episodes! ❓Question for Christa? Low-Cost, High-Impact CX Improvements The Power of Language: Transform "I can't" into "How can we" Shift from "I have to" to "We get to" Being "impeccable with your word" (inspired by The Four Agreements) Words trigger emotional responses that shape customer perception Getting CX Buy-In Across Organizations The Alignment Problem: CX initiatives fail when metrics aren't shared across departments Success came when executives adopted the same CX metrics as the CX team Without shared goals, customer insights get shelved with "we'll get to it later" The Pilot Program Strategy: Start small before asking for big budgets Show proof of concept with intentional, measurable pilots Use success to rally and align different areas of the company Real Example - CX Day Success: Introduced first-ever CX Day celebration at 145-year-old engineering company Started small despite skepticism Now an annual tradition that continues after her departure Rethinking CX Metrics Beyond Traditional Measurements: NPS and effort scores are starting points, not endpoints "Satisfaction" is no longer good enough (it's the equivalent of "fine") New focus: Emotional altitude across every touchpoint The Emotional Impact: Brains constantly cycle between thinking and feeling Emotions create lasting imprints that shape brand perception Research shows: 12 positive experiences needed to overcome 1 negative Measure emotional highs to identify gaps and successes The Four Rs of CX Impact: Revenue Retention Reputation Referrals The Future of Contact Centers Human + AI Integration: Smart companies intentionally map where humans add value vs. where AI should handle interactions The answer is "both/and" not "either/or" Critical: Validate designs with real customers, not just internal teams The Contact Center Superpower: Contact center teams speak to more customers in a week than other departments do in a year This proximity to customers gives agents unique power to be organizational change agents Voice of customer insights should inform product development, marketing messaging, and more Words Matter in the AI Era: Example: Website offering "24/7 support, our guides are happy to help you" "Guides" for both humans and AI feels impersonal Naming and framing still matters The Power of Customer Voice The 10-Minute Video Story: A contact center leader captured customer feedback about a failed new product. At an executive meeting, he played a 10-minute compilation of customer complaints. The CEO's initial advisor said it was a career-ending mistake The CEO walked out during the video Result: CEO returned and said it was "the best 10 minutes anybody's ever played" and named him employee #1 Customer voice changed the company's trajectory The Validation Imperative: Internal perspective isn't enough Customer validation must be iterative, not one-time Can't use internal team as proxy for outside voice Both internal knowledge AND customer validation matter The Fundamental C-Suite Challenge When C-suite leaders aren't aligned in their meetings, misalignment trickles down through the entire organization. This is the root problem preventing effective CX implementation. Notable Stories The Morgan & Morgan Tattoo Story: Leadership promised to get company logo tattoos if the team hit an unprecedented conversion rate goal. When they achieved it, 40 leaders got matching tattoos - four tattoo artists came in for the day. The question became: "Is your brand tattoo-worthy?" Stacey's Podcast Origin: Bought her first microphone for under $50, then waited six months before taking it out of the box due to fear. That mic ignited her journey to intentionally sharing her voice through podcasting. Living Podcasting: At the conference, Stacey pulled out her mic to record a 10-minute session where Amas (who has Parkinson's) gave direct advice to her relative with a similar condition - creating immediate, personal value rather than secondhand communication. Takeaways for Contact Center Leaders Language shapes reality - Small word changes create emotional shifts in customer experience Demand metric alignment - CX can't succeed unless executives share the same measurements Start with pilots - Prove value small-scale before requesting major investment Leverage your proximity to customers - Use it to become the organizational glue and change agent Validate everything with real customers - Internal assumptions aren't enough Map the human-AI journey intentionally - Design where each adds value, then test with customers Bring customer voice to leadership - Sometimes the most powerful thing is making them listen directly Average isn't acceptable - Move beyond satisfaction to creating emotional highs

Jon and I are back after a brief hiatus, and we had a lot to catch up on, starting with our ever-evolving audio gear! I tested out a new budget microphone, the Boya Measureless, which I'm using in a shotgun mode on a tripod. Jon is actually using the same mic in lavalier format. It's a pretty advanced 4-in-1 mic that even comes with its own charging case and windscreens. I'm glad it's working out for both of us! Shifting gears, I needed some help rationalizing a recent purchase: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE. It was a good bundle from Costco, including the S Pen (which uses Wacom EMR technology) and a nice magnetic keyboard case, all for around $500. I was looking for a replacement for my Pixel tablet, which Google is apparently not going to continue developing. I like that the S10 FE is IP68 water and dustproof, has a micro SD slot (I added a 256GB card for 384GB total storage!), and supports both Face ID and fingerprint login. I'm even learning how to use Samsung's additional windowing system on top of the standard Android UI. We discussed the rumor of a budget MacBook (codenamed J700) possibly coming out in 2026 with the iPhone's A18 Pro processor. I think it would be fantastic in the $499 range, especially for schools and people new to desktop operating systems. We also touched on the mind-blowing news that an AI-written song hit number one on the Billboard country music chart. I remember being wowed by the first all-CGI movie, The Last Starfighter, back in the '80s, and it feels like AI music is on a similar path to becoming normal. Jon then walked me through a cool, old trick for Google Sheets: using the Google Visualization API with a SQL query embedded in a URL to fetch specific data, which he uses for his weekly jokes. Finally, Jon demoed Open Broadcast Studio (OBS), which is a free, versatile tool for broadcasting and recording, offering commercial-level features for mixing audio and video sources.

In this episode we talk with Michelle of @OhthePlacesYoullGoTravels about the Denmark and Sweden part of their 10-day family trip to European, which proves that travel with kids can be affordable, flexible, and genuinely kid-friendly when you use points, stopovers, and creative lodging. Michelle walks us through the itinerary that started with a Flying Blue stopover in Amsterdam, an unforgettable day at LEGO House in Billund, and then a multi-night stay split between Copenhagen and Malmo, Sweden. She explains how she stitched the trip together using points for flights, a Mr & Mrs Smith penthouse booked on Hyatt points, a budget Kindred home-exchange apartment in Malmo, and an unexpected bargain Story Hotel stay by Hyatt — and how those choices kept the trip family-friendly and economical. We share concrete how-to tips you can use: how to book Flying Blue stopovers, when staying overnight in Billund (or renting a car) makes sense, where to store luggage and how LEGO House's zones keep kids entertained for hours, and why Malmo can be a smart, lower-cost base with a 30-minute train into Copenhagen. Michelle also breaks down the numbers and how with points they spent LESS out of pocket for flights, hotels, food and excursions for a family of 4 over 10 days and across many countries — a life-changing contrast to her family's earlier Florida road trip that was astronomically more!   She asked me about my glasses. They're heavily tinted reading glasses that block out blue light. They're not cheapy throw-aways, but they're not expensive either. It sparked a conversation about the everyday things we enjoy - things that make a positive difference in our lives. I started rattling off a few things - mostly things I saw within a 6-foot circumference of my studio space. By the time I got to number 22, I stopped and made this confession, "I know I could come up with twenty-two more if we kept talking about this." It's about stuff, our stuff. But it's about much more. It's about our expectations, happiness, and contentment. Mostly, it's about gratitude, being thankful for all the little, inexpensive things that improve our quality of life.   • Join Our Free Email Newsletter • Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel (click that bell icon, too) • Join Our Facebook Group • Support Our Sponsors (Click on the images below to visit their websites.) __________________________________________ __________________________________________ __________________________________________

Interview with Blake Hylands, CEO of Lithium Ionic Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/opportunity-in-volatility-lithium-projects-poised-for-rebound-5610Recording date: 15th October 2025Lithium Ionic has significantly strengthened the economics of its Bandeira lithium project in Brazil, delivering a rare improvement in feasibility study updates. The company's latest Definitive Feasibility Study reveals exceptional metrics: a post-tax internal rate of return exceeding 60%, net present value of $1.5 billion, and a two-year payback period over a 19-year mine life. Most notably, capital costs decreased by $70 million to $190 million, positioning Bandeira among the lowest-cost lithium developments globally. The capital reduction resulted from strategic partnerships and engineering optimization rather than project compromise. Lithium Ionic partnered with R-TEK Resources, the engineering team that successfully constructed the adjacent Sigma Lithium operation, bringing proven DMS plant design expertise. This collaboration enabled equipment standardization, simplified mine sequencing, and refined facility design while maintaining project robustness.Located in Minas Gerais' Araçuaí pegmatite belt, the Bandeira project benefits from exceptional geological validation. The deposit sits just 500 meters from the CBL operation, which has produced lithium for 30 years, with near-identical structural and geochemical characteristics. Through targeted drilling completed in late 2024, Lithium Ionic expanded measured and indicated resources from 21 million to 27.5 million tons, converting 21 million tons to proven and probable reserves at a 77% rate. The project's lowest-quartile cost profile provides resilience against lithium's recent price volatility, which has seen spodumene swing from $8,000 to $650 per ton. Management targets early 2026 for permit approval and end-of-2027 production, timing that could coincide with tightening supply-demand dynamics as sustained low prices curtail new supply development. With sub-$200 million capital requirements generating $1.5 billion in value, conservative operating assumptions, and a proven development team, Lithium Ionic presents a compelling proposition for project financing as battery demand continues expanding across electric vehicles, grid storage, and AI infrastructure applications.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/lithium-ionic-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
