Welcome to episode 231 of The All Seeing Guys with Greg and Joe, the guys catch up on a busy couple of weeks, they attended the May the 4th Be with You Star Wars night down The Fighting Cocks where laughs, drinks, and catch ups with Top Shagger Luke and Tom and Ant from the Anywhere But Here Podcast and members of the band High Frequency who played that night. Greg had a live Q&A session in a bookshop for his Star Wars Toy Guide book and accidentally stole a ladies phone. In this episode of the Anywhere But Here Podcast, Ant and Tom discuss Ant's upcoming holiday abroad and the excitement and anxiety, in general, of attempting to return to some sort of normality. After some housekeeping about changes coming down the pipe for us here at the Anywhere But Here Podcast, Ant and Tom have a couple of topics that came up recently they wanted to dissect and discuss. Firstly Katie (Cunty) Hopkins has resurfaced after a few years to spout some bullshit about the case of Tommy Robinson where she claims some outrageous things about exactly why she thinks he's been locked up. She's wrong. Also, she makes the claim that 'Muslim overlords' running the UK jail system... what exactly does that mean? Ant and Tom delve in. Secondly, they discuss the knee-jerk firing of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after some right-wing trolls dug up some old tweets of his and posted them without any context. What we learn from this is that people should be allowed to own their mistakes and learn from them, not be fired. Alternatively, you can't paint over the bits of history you don't like to sanitise it, bad things happened like British colonialism and the Second World War. Though these eras are morally reprehensible, there's no questioning that good things came from them, including the ability to never repeat those mistakes. Basically, the theme of today's episode is take a step back, think about things before reacting to them and ask open questions. This is not quite the open and shut case that the Weinstein allegations appeared to be. So, as with many things in life we have two ears and one mouth so should use them in that ratio (a maxim Tom's primary school teacher said once that has stayed with you ever since). The Anywhere But Here Podcast has reached it's 200th episode, so Ant and Tom decided to have a few guests on that they have somehow overlooked or previously promised. The first half of the episode features Andrew Bartlett who has taken a break from podcasting for a while, but is still working on things. On this part of the episode the guys talk Doctor Who, work, books and Terry Pratchett's last wishes. Including each other. Tom went on holiday and shares some stories about Holland and the Frisian Islands in particular, which also progresses to a long discussion about languages and how certain words or phases have evolved. Tom also played a gig with the covers band he joined recently. It was in the drummer's back garden where there was a makeshift bar which prompted a chat between the guys about home ownership and random projects around the house... which may be really boring. But, stay til the end because they cover Celebrity Big Brother because Tom's Uncle is in it. Episode 068 - The Wicker Man (1973) Scott's choice of movie this week as he and Charlie take a look at The Wicker Man from 1973. Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) arrives on the small Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the report of a missing child. A conservative Christian, the policeman observes the residents' frivolous sexual displays and strange pagan rituals, particularly the temptations of Willow (Britt Ekland), daughter of the island magistrate, Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee). The more Sergeant Howie learns about the islanders' strange practices, the closer he gets to tracking down the missing child.
