"We don't repeat the show. We improvise on stage and I like being able to to take a left turn in the music anytime that it occurs to me. I like to do what the music tells me and I get instructions in the moment when we're on stage. I get a little sort of advanced notice in my mind of what the next phrase or the next musical action is going to be and I like to go with those and obey them basically, and it's wonderful to have a band that can deal with that and that likes to improvise themselves.All the band members are able to make up their own parts and to head off into something they've never done before. And I like that. I think that unpredictable quality and the sense of excitement that you get when something unforeseen happens and it's magic... I think that helps bring people back to see us again and again. Also we play with a particular intensity, I know we do. The last known phone call between Keith and Paul Caneiro was played for jurors in Monmouth County Superior Court—and it reveals a man at the end of his patience. "I need it—I need it. Give me the f***ing login, Paul!" Keith demanded, giving his brother until 8 p.m. to provide access to a trust account. By the next afternoon, Keith Caneiro, 50, was dead on the front lawn of his Colts Neck mansion with five gunshot wounds. Inside, his wife Jennifer, 45, and their children—11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia—were found stabbed and burned. Paul Caneiro, 58, is on trial for four counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say greed drove Paul to slaughter his brother's family after Keith discovered he was stealing from their shared businesses. Testimony from a financial crimes detective revealed multiple transfers from Keith's trust account into Paul's personal account with no repayment. Hours before the Colts Neck fire was reported, Paul allegedly set fire to his own Ocean Township home while his wife and daughters slept inside. Evidence includes bloody clothing with DNA matching the child victims and a gun matched to the murder weapon. Paul's defense attorney claims investigators ignored a third brother. Several followers of Jesus have recently experienced situations of severe persecution in the Southeast Asian country of Vietnam. In one recent case, a house church leader identified as Brother Ting was tragically killed after he refused to stop holding worship meetings. A week after Brother Ting was murdered, his wife Mar was found dead in her home, leaving the couple's children orphaned. Brother Paul , who serves as the Project Partner Manager for Voice of the Martyrs Australia, joins Closer to the Fire host Greg Musselman to discuss why Christians are encountering escalating opposition in many rural communities throughout this Communist nation. After five days of deliberation, the jury could not reach a verdict on Read, 44, who was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Boston police officer John O'Keefe after his body was found outside the home of Brian Albert, a friend of the couple, on a snowy January night in 2022. She had faced a maximum sentence of life in prison. Norfolk County Judge Beverly Cannone scheduled a status update in the case for July 22. The jury told Cannone on Friday and again on Monday that they could not reach unanimous agreement. Cannone directed them to continue deliberating but to no avail. The wide-ranging trial included testimony from more than 65 witnesses, from forensic experts and police investigators to multiple members of Albert's family and Okeefe's, since it began at the end of April.
