Live from Dr Johnson's House off Fleet Street in London, in this episode the biographer and historian Paul O'Keeffe takes us on an immersive dive into the year 1806. This was a time when both the British and the French attempted to come to terms with the fall out of the Battle of Trafalgar. News of Trafalgar was received in Britain with great ambivalence. The sheer scale of the victory was thrilling, but it was marred by the death of Admiral Nelson. King George III reflected the national mood when he declared that it was a victory that had been bought at too dear a price. While Britons buried Nelson and set about commemorating the battle, in France there would be ramifications of a rather different kind of Admiral Villeneuve – whose strange death is described by O'Keeffe as 'either a murder of an extremely tenacious suicide'. When you've spent your last nine euro on a curry cheese chips in Inchicore and been presented with a bag of promised vinyl and a sauna is the only cure for a hangover then you know it has to be another episode of your favourite podcast. Dara Byrne is the Health Service Executive National Clinical Lead for Simulation in the Republic of Ireland and the Professor of Simulation at the University of Galway. She established the Irish Centre for Applied Patient Safety and Simulation (ICAPSS) in 2017 – accreditation and awards Angela O'Dea is human factors psychologist with a background in organisational psychology. Producer Paul O'Duffy may not have been the actual architect of the sophistopop movement in the UK in the late 80s, but he had a hand in popularizing it. The man helped shape the sound of five of the major players within the genre - Hipsway, Breathe, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Danny Wilson, and Swing Out Sister, which he was practically the unofficial third member of for many years.
