This week, we're in Oslo with creative couple Isabelle Eberdean and Jonas Bahri. They've spent over a decade building not just a life together, but a relationship rooted in curiosity, individuality, and shared inspiration. They speak to Susanne about the joy of constantly rediscovering one another. As people change over time - through experiences, music, conversations, or simply growing older - so do relationships. It's this evolution that keeps their connection alive. For Isabelle and Jonas, it's not about always doing everything together. It's about living separate lives and bringing that richness back home. After years of study, work, and travel, the two are now grounded in Oslo, embracing a new phase of life that includes not just being a couple, but also potential collaborators. They reflect on how they've matured over the years - learning to communicate better, support one another more deeply, and even imagine working side-by-side without losing their sense of self. They also look back with tenderness at their younger selves, offering advice they wish they'd had: be kinder, be patient, and don't forget to pause and breathe. Isabelle finds calm in music and people-watching, while Jonas takes quiet moments alone, letting stillness reset him. This episode is a celebration of long-term love, creative independence, and the small rituals that help us come home to ourselves - and each other. Ever wonder how to make it through the blah days of the week?God gives us a great example. In this episode of Live the Bible, we head to the Elah Valley in Israel, the scene of David's fight with Goliath. It's much more than an exciting story. Why? It shows us what to do with the blah days. (And it doesn't include throwing rocks.) I love how practical God's Word is. This message has quick takeaways we can apply right away—today. Merry Christmas! A few thoughts on how I've been approaching Christmas this year that I thought I'd share with you today. What if the Jesus that came in a manger all those years ago is also about our daily days? What if its the ordinariness of life that is actually sacred? Today we'll chat for just a few minutes about what's rolling through my mind this morning. Enjoy!
Have you heard these myths about faith's role in caregiving? Myth 1: Faith won't make a difference in the practical challenges. Myth 2: Caregivers must be perfect in their faith to make a difference. Myth 3: Faith won't alleviate the emotional toll of caregiving. Let's unravel them with our guest Dorothy Horne in this replay of Books & Chit Chat with Aging & Amazing. We touch on everything from clinical trials to the role of faith, and the power of community and positive narratives on the dementia journey. Dorothy, a retired first-grade teacher and former columnist for a local newspaper, brings a unique perspective to the conversation as she shares her caregiving journey with her husband, Byron, who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. Through her faith and resilience, Dorothy has found moments of grace and strength in the midst of the challenges of dementia caregiving. Her heartfelt reflections and personal experiences offer valuable insights into the role of faith in navigating the complexities of Alzheimer's and dementia, providing inspiration and support for others on similar paths. She has shared these insights in two books: Glimpses of Grace: Walking in Hope Through Alzheimer's and Ordinary Days and Glimpses of Grace: And Grace Will Lead Us Home. In this episode, you will: Explore the profound impact of faith in providing strength and comfort while navigating the challenges of dementia caregiving. Learn how to break free from the negative stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding an Alzheimer's or dementia diagnosis. Encounter the concept of “lightbearers” and how to become one. Discover the transformative power of community support in finding emotional resilience and practical assistance. Clay Sheffield's life is a miracle. Perhaps because of the faith of his three older siblings, the nearly 2-year-old little boy with a million dollar smile is still alive more than a year longer than doctors ever expected. Still, Clay's life doesn't look quite the way his family anticipated or hoped. Instead, the Sheffields are learning that sometimes the miracle is in the gift of ordinary days and in knowing that where covenants are made and kept, stories always end in happily ever after. 1:58- Clay's Emergency Delivery 8:49- Then To Now 16:09- Redefining the Miracle 19:29- The Power of “And” 22:20- The Faith of Children 29:14- Choose This Day 31:29- Covenants 33:18- Making Intentional Memories 39:45- Ordinary Days 44:43- Being Pruned 47:54- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? “I already know the ending of this story and this story is pretty great. Do you accept average ordinary days or create special, memorable moments EVERY day? How exciting we can choose how we live EVERY day!!
Pesach (Passover) begins with a Shabbat and ends with a Shabbat. The interim days are called "Chol HaMoed", meaning the workdays/ordinary days of the festival. It's in these days, when things seem ordinary, as if God isn't moving, that God does amazing inner work, even when we don't realize it.
Whilst taking a hiatus from her run as Anne Boleyn in Six, Laura Dawn Pyatt is currently part of the ensemble of 42 Balloons by Jack Godfrey.Laura first joined the cast of 42 Balloons when the musical had a concert run in the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre. The show is now receiving its fully staged premiere at The Lowry in Salford and Laura is reprising her performance for this new iteration of its journey. 42 Balloons is inspired by the highly improbable true story of how Larry, and his partner Carol Van Deusen, convinced their friends and family to help Larry achieve his dream of flying. Featuring an 80s pop-inspired score, 42 Balloons questions how far you would go to make your dreams come true; is the sky actually the limit, and what happens if it doesn't all go to plan?Laura joined Six The Musical's UK & International tour cast in April 2023, starring as Anne Boleyn. She has taken a break from the show to do 42 Balloons and is set to return to the company to finish off her run later in the year. Some of Laura's other theatre credits include performing with Bat Out Of Hell at the Big Night of Musicals (AO Arena Manchester), playing Claire in Ordinary Days directed by Julie Atherton (Cockpit Theatre), Dick Whittington and Jack & The Beanstalk (Royal & Derngate) and Eliza in Brass (Bernie Grant Arts Centre). Laura has worked as a choreographer, performed in concerts, appeared on screen and been part of many other projects. Recorded during a break from rehearsals, in this episode Laura discusses what it's like to be back in 42 Balloons, conquering her confidence with Six, navigating her career after leaving drama school without an agent and lots more. 42 Balloons runs at The Lowry in Salford 18th April - 19th May 2024. Red Letter Days is what Mitch Albom was talking about in his recent "Tuesday People" podcast - find it HERE. There are always special days in our lives and those that can be called those Red Letter Days - marking them in a calendar in red. Much of the world was caught up in a very special Solar Eclipse day on April 8, 2024. Mitch brings up the example that many of our regular, ordinary days can be those too. Time with loved ones. Having our health. Being able to do simple things. The list of grateful things goes on and on. I know that I want to view my regular days as being really special. I hope we all can do more of that. Today, we are talking about prayer and Scripture, which are often some of the first spiritual practices that come to mind when we think about ways to connect with God… Yet, engaging with prayer and Scripture are often some of the most challenging rhythms for us to maintain. In this week's episode, my new friend, Rachael Wade is here to give us ideas and inspiration from her own journey about how to experience God's presence through prayer and Scripture. The Pantone color that I chose for this week is Lime Punch. It is fabulous and bright, because prayer and talking with God throughout our days can vibrancy to the most mundane days. Prayer and Scripture change the way we see ourselves, others, and our circumstances, helping us see light where the world sees darkness. So, that is why I chose one of the brightest colors in the Pantone guide book for next week! ------- Rachael is a wife, mom of two, seminary student, writer, and teacher who is passionate about encouraging & equipping men & women with the word of God. She believes in the power of the "in process" everyday story. For this reason, she created Olive Us a ministry where women recount to remember the goodness & faithfulness of God. Rachael faithfully serves at Epic Church in San Francisco, where she leads small groups and is on the teaching team. When Rachael isn't leading, teaching, and writing on her "Seeds of Encouragement" blog, she's hanging out in her comfy pajamas at home with her family, enjoying a nice charcuterie board, laughing at something because what is life without laughter, or riding/running with her Peloton people. *Rachael's 'Olive Us' interviews drop on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and all Major Podcast platforms on the 1st of every month. * --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carly-bartlett/support
Young children thrive in the ordinary, to them it's reliable, predictable and feels safe. There's less anxiety, less overwhelm, less to be nervous about especially when the ordinary is nourished by a healthy rhythm. It can be hard to slow down, be present and fully embrace ordinary moments and ordinary days. How you wash the dishes, do the laundry, sweep the floor, set the table; these and more can make you feel like you're not seen and perhaps this is what makes simple, ordinary moments and days so hard.In this episode I offer advice as well as inspiration for finding joy in ordinary days. I also tell my story of how I embraced ordinary days as a first time mom. Here are two episodes from Season 4 that offer more on this topic. The Key to More Joyful Days with Your Child (part 1)https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/we-nurture/id1481862269?i=1000528963100The Key to More Joyful Days with Your Child (part 2)https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/we-nurture/id1481862269?i=1000529682364WebsiteInstagram

It's easy for us to get stuck into habits and routines in our lives and miss opportunities to make the average moments special. It's easy to make a few little thought shifts to your normal routine and turn the mundane into the magnificent.
You may know that Ordinary Days matter but are wondering HOW you can make them matter. In this brief episode, I share 7 tips on how you can make your ordinary days matter.

Today on the podcast, I had the real privilege of getting to talk to Tish Harrison Warren. She's a priest in the Anglican Church in North America as well as an author. She's written Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life, which won Christianity Today's 2018 Book of the Year and Prayer in the Night: For Those Who Work, or Watch, or Weep, which won Christianity Today's 2022 Book of the Year. And releasing May 31 of this year, she has written Little Prayers for Ordinary Days. In addition to all of that she currently writes a weekly newsletter for The New York Times, which you should subscribe to, and she is a columnist for Christianity Today. Her articles and essays have appeared in Religion News Service, Christianity Today, Comment Magazine, The Point Magazine, The New York Times, and elsewhere. For over a decade, Tish has worked in ministry settings as a campus minister with InterVarsity Graduate and Faculty Ministries, as an associate rector, and with addicts and those in poverty through various churches and non-profit organizations. Now, Tish serves as Writer in Residence at Resurrection South Austin. She is a founding member of The Pelican Project and a Senior Fellow with the Trinity Forum. She lives with her husband and three children in the Austin, Texas area. In today's conversation, we talk about all the things. We talk about her books Liturgy for the Ordinary, Prayer in the Night and her new release, Little Prayers for Ordinary Days. We talk about her faith journey, the liturgies that form our daily lives, and finding God in the suffering—the importance of liturgical prayer to give us words when we don't have the words. We also talk about how we can take God off trial and rest in his goodness, love and mercy in the midst of difficult and sad seasons through the hope of the resurrection. And now let's listen to my conversation with Tish!
Key Conversation Points: The ordinary moments anchor us and connect us across neighborhoods, states, countries and oceans....even for Lisa-Jo's friend in Ukraine. Lisa-Jo graciously reminds us that acts of extraordinary courage are getting up and advocating for our kids, sick spouse or family abroad or taking time to serve at church or sharing our platforms with someone. It all is courageous in the middle of hard times when all we really want to do is stay in bed. The rhythms of anticipation can feel like Christmas, even as we feel stuck in the end of winter. What is engraved in Lisa Jo's bag that anchors her in such a powerful way right now? Let us know in the reviews what is anchoring you right now. We want to hear your stories. Read Psalm 77 in The Message, “I yell out to my God, with all my heart…and He listens.” Current ordinary rhythms for Lisa-Jo and Christie: What the Land Already Knows: Winter's Sacred Days (Stories from the Farm in Lucy) by Phyllis Tickle Bitter and Sweet: A Journey Into Easter by Tsh Oxenreider.
