This week on WDDD, Sarah recounts the chilling tale of Cosmo DiNardo and his descent into madness. In the initial week of July 2017, the disappearance of four young men in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, sent shockwaves through the community. Through a combination of investigative efforts and local hearsay, law enforcement zeroed in on two individuals with somewhat notorious reputations in the town. As cadaver dogs signaled a potential discovery on a recently unearthed portion of DiNardo's property, the police felt confident they were closing in on the truth. Tune in for a poignant retelling of this tragic and senseless narrative.       Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WhyDeyDoDatPod    Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whydeydodatpodcast    Email: WhyDeyDoDatPod@gmail.com

Cosmo DiNardo came from a wealthy family, had every opportunity to succeed in life, and flushed it all away when he went on a murder spree, killing four of his friends.  While the story of the murders are gruesome, what's behind the scenes is the interesting part of this story.  Was Cosmo was a monster?  Or was he suffering from mental health issues that lead him to commit these monstrous acts?  This is one case that challenges your view of the criminal justice system when it comes to facing mental illness and leaves you with no good answers.SHOW NOTEShttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_2017_Pennsylvania_murdershttps://www.phillymag.com/news/2020/02/25/cosmo-dinardo/https://jonharker.medium.com/rich-boy-blasted-4-friends-crushed-em-with-backhoe-burned-remains-in-pig-roaster-and-then-2b59d99ac75Support the showSupport by joining KMH+ and by checking out our merch shop! Cosmo DiNardo seemed to have every opportunity in life.  He came from a wealthy family, was athletic and well liked and had aspirations to become an orthodontist. “Cosmo DiNardo is the kind of kid who would always say hello, and he would grab your groceries out of your hand and walk you to your car,” a neighbor said about him. Cosmo suffered several concussions while playing football, and he also sustained a head injury in an ATV accident.   Cosmo changed.  He became violent, paranoid and delusional.  He would sleep with a Bible on his chest in an attempt to ward off evil.  His mother said at one point, he would even foam at the mouth. Despite all this, Cosmo's doctor believed that treatment was working and that his bipolar was in remission.  The doctor removed Cosmo from all of his medication.  And then Cosmo went on a killing spree. Along with his cousin Sean Kratz, the two murdered four men in July 2017. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the murderous rampage of Cosmo DiNardo and Sean Kratz. Cosmo DiNardo The first time Cosmo DiNardo came under police radar was in 2011, when a neighbour reported him for driving an ATV on their street in Pennsylvania. DiNardo grew up in a middle-class suburb at Bensalem. He is the oldest child of Antonio and Sandra DiNardo. A wealthy couple who run two successful and complementary businesses together. 4. Gerald McCants Texas native, Gerald McCants could be one of the worst sons out there. Around March 2020, the 49-year old, told his 78-year old father he had found a rattlesnake and was excited to show it off. His father could see he was excited so he decided to go with his son. The two drove half a mile away to Austin. Once there, they headed to a cliff. Gerald said the rattlesnake was just a little walk away. The elder McCants approached the edge of the cliff looking for the rattlesnake that his son said was there. However, as he was looking, Gerald McCants suddenly shoved him from behind. This caused the elderly man to fall roughly 40 feet straight down into the cliff. 3. UFO Above Plymouth County Last March 2020, an unusual footage was captured of what many think was a UFO flying over Plymouth County in Massachusetts. The video, was first shared by a YouTube channel with the username, Zeal. Eyewitneses say the object was above them and that it looked like a large helicopter. 2. Joe Exotic The Tiger King Joseph Allen Madonado-Passage (after his marriage) is more popularly known as the “Tiger King” or “Joe Exotic.” Ever since Netflix released their 7-episode documentary about The Tiger King, everyone has been buzzing with memes, jokes and posts about this unusual zoo operator. 1.Marquise Gandy Lots of people share their stories on Twitter, some are mundane, others harrowing. Cosmo DiNardo In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, between July 5 and July 7, 2017, four young men were indiscriminately murdered by 2 cousins. Cosmo DiNardo, 20, is the son of a wealthy businessman and this isn’t his first brush in with the law. He’s had more than 30 run-ins with the police but somehow has never been charged or convicted for anything. Meanwhile, his second cousin, Sean Kratz, had been in and out of jail following several burglaries including stealing a dog and lawn equipment. Despite being cousins the two were never really that close. In fact, they only started hanging out in the months prior to their gruesome killings. 3. Brian Hawkins For 25-years, Brian Hawkins from Redding, California, kept a dark secret – and it was that he had killed a man. One day Brian walked into the KRCR news station and said he was “sick of running” and that his newfound faith in “God and Christ” along with his own conscience has convinced him to admit his role in the murder of then 19-year old, Frankie McAlister. Frankie’s body had been found a year after he went missing in May of 1993. His vehicle had been abandoned in a Costco parking lot, Blood was found on both the interior and exterior of the car. Even though police managed to identify Hawkins and the Culver siblings to be the last people seen with Frankie, they’ve maintained their innocence and because of lacking evidence were never charged. 2. Robert Durst Born to NYC mogul, Seymour Durst and his wife, Bernice, Robert Durst from New York City, is one of four children. Even as a young kid, he appeared to have psychological problems. Robert once underwent counselling for his sibling rivalry and in 1953, a psychiatrist diagnosed him as having “personality decomposition and possibly even schizophrenia.” By the time he was in highschool in Scarsdale, he was described as a loner. He went on to enroll in a doctoral program at UCLA after college and this is where he first met, Susan Berman. Eventually he became a real estate developer, but the family business was later appointed to his brother, Douglas, instead of him. This proclamation caused a huge rift between Robert and his family, leading to eventual estrangement. 1. Henry Lee Lucas Born in Blacksburg, Virginia, Henry Lee Lucas had a dysfunctional childhood and family life. His dad was an alcoholic and his mother was a sex worker. As a child, he was forced to watch his mother have sex with her clients and she would often dress him as a girl. She also beat him heavily, even hitting him once with a plank on the head that sent him into a coma for 3 days. When he was 10 years old, he suffered an accidental eye injury. His mother ignored it until it got infected and it had to be removed and replaced with a glass eye. By this time, Lucas, had become an alcoholic and his brother and “Uncle Bernie” (his mother’s lover) had introduced him to animal torture and bestiality.
