Born in New Haven, CT, Heidi reported on the fashion universe for national magazines, writing features and styling photo shoots throughout her twenties. With a BA in apparel and textiles from Cornell University, she covered style and travel from New York to Paris, where she served as Fashion Director and Associate Bureau Chief of Women's Wear Daily and W Magazine. After Paris she went to India, where she lived part-time studying yoga for the next 8 years. In 2007, she opened and taught at a yoga studio in San Francisco, and two years later, she discovered her creative self in photography. Self-taught, she began by creating self-portraits and realized a meaningful way to make sense of the world and her place in it. Her images are often based in self-inquiry that stem from personal experiences, relationships, and/or investigate identity. She is represented by galleries in the U.S. and Uruguay and has exhibited internationally. Heidi is a founding member of the online collective Six Shooters, has twice been a Critical Mass finalist, received recognition from the likes of WPGA Pollux Awards and the Julia Margaret Cameron Award. Her work has been featured in PDN and Rangefinder magazines and in online photo blogs including CNN, NPR and the New Yorker's Photo Booth. Editorial credits include WSJ Magazine, Disegno and Grey Magazine. In 2014, Kehrer Verlag published the photography book Grassland under Lender's pseudonym H. Lee. She currently resides on an 80-acre ranch in Pueblo Garzon, Uruguay, where she has founded CAMPO, a nonprofit creative institute, supporting international artists, www.campogarzon.org.In this episode, Heidi recounts her impulsive decision to leave her burgeoning career as a fashion director in Paris at the young age of 26. Her tale is marked by personal challenges, including a divorce and the emotional rollercoaster of IVF, which she bravely shares with Anne. Heidi's journey of self-discovery and resilience is punctuated by her immersion into the world of yoga, where she trained under the renowned Pattabhi Jois, finding solace and a renewed sense of purpose.Prompted by Heidi expressing the realizations she had while shopping in Goa, Anne shares a similar experience from her recent trip to Greece, emphasizing the significance of unique, locally crafted fashion. Anne also speaks candidly about her battle with rheumatoid arthritis and how yoga has been instrumental in her physical and emotional well-being, noting that movement does indeed help with pain, despite seeming counterintuitive. The episode takes a reflective turn as Heidi shares the trials and tribulations she faced during her attempts at conceiving through IVF, eventually leading her to embrace a different life path with acceptance and grace.A pivotal moment in Heidi's personal story, she tells Anne, is her discovery of Garzon, Uruguay. During an impromptu trip to South America, she stumbled upon her dream home in the quaint village, which became the birthplace of CAMPO. Heidi describes to Anne how her passion for photography flourishes in this picturesque setting, where the art of self-portraiture becomes a therapeutic outlet and a means of self-expression. The episode highlights how photography, combined with mindfulness practices, has been a crucial part of Heidi's healing journey.Heidi goes deeper into the founding and growth of CAMPO, which has evolved into a sanctuary for artists, chefs, and writers from around the world. Heidi articulates her vision of creating transformative experiences for both residents and attendees, fostering a sense of community through artistic collaboration. The festival, now a three-day event with a month-long residency program, is using the theme "unsettled" this year. The theme explores migration and movement, thus reflecting Heidi's own journey of continuous reinvention. The episode concludes with a heartfelt discussion between Heidi and Anne on the value of solitude, introspection, and the interconnectedness of creative pursuits and personal growth. Heidi shares important moments of reconnection with her past and influential figures, weaving a narrative of the importance of serendipity and openness to new perspectives. Through her story, Heidi exemplifies resilience, creativity, and the transformative power of embracing life's unpredictable turns. An intimate and heartwarming interview with a talented artist who has a plethora of global experience. Dennis is joined in person by author A. Ashley Hoff to discuss his new book With Love, Mommie Dearest, his follow-up to Match Game 101, which he discussed on the podcast a few years back. Ashley talks about why he wanted to write this book, what surprised him while he was conducting interviews and doing research and why be believes that Faye Dunaway, who plays screen legend Joan Crawford in the film, is a "sorceress commanding the elements." He also recalls talking with Christina Crawford, who wrote the tell-all the movie is based on, at a screening of the film in Chicago years ago and learned that while she doesn't particularly like the film, she's proud that it shined a spotlight on the then-taboo topic of child abuse. Ashley also talks about watching the new documentary Faye on Max and finding that it pretty much tracks with the research he conducted for the book, even though he was never able to interview Dunaway herself. At one point, Dennis and Ashley are joined by author and superfan Abdi Nazemian who has been obsessed with the movie since he was 10 years old and has a juicy Faye story of his own to share. Other topics include: Joan Crawford's up-from-nothing resilience and determination, why the bullying aspect of the film might resonate with queer people, that time Dennis interviewed Faye Dunaway for Us Magazine and was kept waiting for four hours, the fact that Mommie Dearest was a financial success, how no one in Hollywood sets out to make a flop and what it is exactly that makes something campy.
This week I am talking with journalist and novelist Hayley Krischer whose brand new novel drops this week, "Where Are You, Echo Blue?," which is about a journalist's obsessive search for Hollywood's hottest starlet who goes missing on the eve of Y2K. Hayley has profiled celebrities like Tatum O'Neill, Celine Dion, and Gabrielle Union for places like The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic, and Elle. Hayley's first two novels were for young adults: “Something Happened to Allie Greenleaf” and “The Falling Girls” and they were awesome, about friendship among not necessarily likeable characters. I for one am very pumped about "Where Are You, Echo Blue?", I think it will be the perfect beach read, like Us Magazine meets Daisy Jones and the Six meets mystery novel. ** This week's episodes are a replay. ** We covered: - Which former child actor/celebrities Hayley obsessively researched for her upcoming book, “Where Are You, Echo Blue?” - How she found herself working at the Boston Globe in college and found all the journalists “these grimy, sexy, fascinating people” - The brilliant wisdom she tells her kids about power of just keeping going. - The circular editorial career that led her to being an author - The “pure insanity” that keeps her coming back to the page - The writing program Hayley signed up for that took the story she'd been working on for 20 years and could never sell and helped her revise it into a form that sold to a major publisher in four days (her first YA novel, “Something Happened to Ali Greenleaf” - The exact mechanical pencil she used to write her upcoming YA novel that's coming out in 2025 - The author who inspired Hayley to write a novel in longhand - Why you should never trust yourself to remember that great idea and the myriad ways Hayley captures those ideas, wherever they may happen For full show notes with links to everything we discuss, plus bonus photos!, visit katehanley.substack.com. Introduction: Minutes to 6:15 I loved the Fall Guy and am on the second season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire. Chandra enjoyed Challengers. Royals: Minutes 6:15 to 21:30 We've talked for years about this common narrative from the British Press where they'll come up with something the Sussexes need to attend and cover it endlessly. They've done this with Hugh Grosvenor's wedding since the invitations went out in December. Roya Nikkhah, a journalist who regularly gets exclusives from William, reported in The Times that Harry and Meghan weren't invited, which was not true. Then we heard that Harry was invited, but he declined. Chandra thinks that story was pushback from Hugh and Harry to William's narrative. They tried to spin it like Harry declined because William is going to be an usher and Harry is jealous or something. People magazine reported that Harry and Hugh talked on the phone and realized that it would be best if Harry didn't come. We haven't seen Kate since Christmas apart from her video announcement. We've heard Kate is not likely to be at Trooping the Colour on June 15th. She's also not expected to attend any events around the state visit from the Emperor and Empress of Japan on June 25th to 27th. William was asked about Kate this week by a WWII veteran during events ahead of D-Day. William said she's getting better. Just last week People and US claimed that Kate was seen out running errands including making a trip to a chocolate shop with William. This is very bizarre messaging. It seems like Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace are not on the same page. Much of the narrative is to protect William. Kate is covering US Magazine, and the article is getting a lot of attention on social media because of the quote that “she may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.” Richard Eden in the Daily Mail said a couple of weeks ago that Kate might not be seen until autumn and then Tom Sykes in the Daily Beast reported from sources that she won't be back until next year. It feels like a different narrative keeps taking over and being taken back. Shiloh Jolie: Minutes 21:30 to 26:15 Shiloh Jolie, who is now 18, filed to have Pitt officially dropped as her last legal name. She hired her own lawyer and filed the paperwork herself. We've previously heard that Vivienne, who turns 16 next month, is only using Jolie as her last name, and that Zahara is only using Jolie as her last name in college. Brad Pitt and his children have been estranged for years since he abused and terrorized them on an airplane in 2016. A source told People that Brad Pitt is “aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He's never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.” Brad and Angelina already had daughter Zahara for a year when Shiloh was born. All of Brad's statements to outlets about this have been self-centered and lack any remorse or responsibility. We hope the public sees him for who he is soon. Comments of the Week: Minutes 26:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Miranda on the post about Trump getting convicted finally. My comment of the week is from Jennifer on the post about Jennifer Lopez canceling her tour. Thanks for listening bitches!
In honor of the final episodes of Love Is Blind, Season 6, please enjoy this rRE-PLAY episode about Nick Lachey, “of course. We will be back with a new episode and special guest next week! Nick Lachey hoped for a red hot career but as Melissa reveals in today's episode, it was only ever lukewarm at best. As the frontman of the boy-band, 98 degrees, Nick longed for a solo career that would take him to the next level. Meanwhile his future wife, Jessica Simpson, was desperate to step out of Britney and Christna's shadows. This would be a marriage made in heaven — or at least on MTV's reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.” Though Nick's body temperature was normal, it seems there was a white hot rage that boiled beneath his frosted tip surface, and he directed it at unsuspecting people which got him into some legal and criminal trouble. Tune in for some iconic reality show moments and to hear Melissa and Rebekah's rating of boy bands from the 90's and early 00's. For Hervé Léger, the early aughts — and its big celeb-driven PR moments — are back. “I wanted to be back in Us Magazine,” said Melissa LeFere-Cobb, division head of Hervé Léger, while discussing her plans to reignite the brand on the Glossy Podcast. She was referencing Hervé Léger's original heyday, when the brand's signature bandage dresses were a style staple for every “it” girl from Paris Hilton to Britney Spears. In 2021, three years after stepping into her role and getting the brand's new products into the hands of stylist Law Roach and others with fashion influence, LeFere-Cobb's wish came true. Celebs including Jennifer Lopez began re-embracing the brand, and Us, among other publications, took notice. “The bandage dress will always be a pillar” of Hervé Léger, said Michelle Ochs, who was enlisted by LeFere-Cobb to join the brand as creative director in June. Prior, she was one-half of the creative duo behind the fashion brand Cushnie et Ochs, before going solo via the Et Ochs brand in 2021. However, today, thanks in large part to the fresh eye that Ochs is bringing to its collections, Hervé Léger is much more than body-con minidresses — and it's in growth mode. Together, LeFere-Cobb and Ochs are setting plans for product category and international expansion as they build toward the brand's next great era. This episode was recorded during a Glossy+ member event at the Hervé Léger showroom in the Empire State Building.

Introduction: Minutes 0 to 13:00 We took two months off, thanks for understanding! While we were off DListed shut down and I took that hard. We respect Michael K so much and we miss Dlisted. We have three new writers, Carina, Kismet and Rosie. We both saw Barbie and loved it. Neither of us have seen Oppenheimer. I liked The Blackening and Chandra saw the movie Showing Up with Michelle Williams and can't stop thinking about it. Celebrity divorces: Minutes 13:00 to 23:30 We talk about the recent celebrity divorces including Kevin Costner, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, and Ariana Grande. Royals: Minutes 23:30 to 32:00 Omid Scobie's Endgame is coming out in November and we're looking forward to that! He is one of the only royal reporters who fairly reports on Harry and Meghan. The British press is going after him and we hope he's living his best life. Suits, Meghan's USA series that aired from 2011 to 2019, is one of the top shows on Netflix. People are like “wow Meghan can act, she's incredible” and the British press are trying to spin it like Americans hate her, which is ridiculous. We just got a new video of Harry and Meghan in their courtyard congratulating the winners of the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund over the phone. It's really cute and they both look so rich and unbothered. I'm sure we'll get articles about how they're trying to pull focus from Prince William serving veggie burgers. Chandra thinks Kensington Palace is trying to bury the veggie burger video because it was all staged. The Sussexes are covering both People Magazine and US Magazine this week. They're said to be having business problems, which surprises me because they have so many successes. The Spotify debacle highlighted their need for a communications team. They've been speaking through sources instead of issuing official responses to Spotify's trash-talking. We hope they get an excellent communications team. Comments of the Week: Minutes 32:00 to end My comment of the week is from Peanut Butter on the post where Stephen Amell tried to dial back his anti-union comments at a fan convention. Chandra's comment of the week is from Kitten on the post about Trump being indicted. Thanks for listening bitches!
This week I'm joined by bestie of the pod, a trusted correspondent, and deputy news editor of US Magazine, Sarah Hearon. She is here to breakdown the latest from Nick from Love Is Blind on the brink of homelessness, WTF is going on with Meghan and Harry, RHONY thoughts and of course we get into RHOC. I share my love and respect for the Dubrows, and is Ryan in the running for the worst man in Bravo history? Enjoy! Thanks to my “Hot Off The Mess” supporters! I couldn't do this show without you! Episode 2265: Our featured article of the day is The Black Cat (US magazine).
What do Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and a Michelin Star Space dinner have in common? Lol, just this past week's news cycle. We discuss the wild world of billionaires and share our thoughts on how this is all just one "post-game" world, a la Black Mirror. From there, our conversation takes a turn to explore the controversial HBO show 'The Idol,' created by Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd), discussing the all-star cast, the drama surrounding its production, and whether it's worth watching. Be sure to stick around for our thoughts on the portrayal of characters and the uncomfortable scenes that left us feeling uneasy. Then we pivot to why we started watching the show: our favorite YouTube commentator D'Angelo Wallace. We talk about the awesome work he has been doing, the incredible community he has built, and why if you haven't already heard of D'Angelo Wallace, why you need to start watching his videos. As we wrap up the episode, we shift gears to discuss the importance of representation in media for queer and trans individuals. We focus exclusively on the animated series 'The Owl House,' we explore the impact of streaming networks pulling programming targeted at these communities and emphasize the need to support shows that offer diverse representation. Hear about our own experiences with representation and the power it can have to help younger folks feel a sense of belonging. We'll be on Sunday, July 9th for episode 7 with guest journalist, editor, and storyteller Ishani Nath to discuss reality television and therapy. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Show Notes and References!‘The Idol' Is More Toxic and Way Worse Than You've Heard - Rolling StoneEverything ‘The Idol' Cast Has Said About the Show's Backlash, Controversial Sex Scenes: It's ‘Not for Everyone' - US Magazine'The Idol' Has a Tedros Problem - ColliderThe era of A-list YouTube celebrities is over. Nick Lachey hoped for a red hot career but as Melissa reveals in today's episode, it was only ever luke-warm at best.As the frontman of the boy-band, 98 degrees, Nick longed for a solo career that would take him to the next level. Meanwhile his future wife, Jessica Simpson, was desperate to step out of Britney and Christna's shadows. This would be a marriage made in heaven — or at least on MTV's reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.”Though Nick's body temperature was normal, it seems there was a white hot rage that boiled beneath his frosted tip surface, and he directed it at unsuspecting people which got him into some legal and criminal trouble.Tune in for some iconic reality show moments and to hear Melissa and Rebekah's rating of boy bands from the 90's and early 00's.Rebekah gave the following clues for next episode:MANSIONMASERATIMIAMIHere's what the hosts are watching as of today's episode:Melissa: Seeking Brother Husband, TLCRebekah: How to Get Rich, NetflixWe are @criminalityshow on IG/FB + TwitterWe are @criminalitypodcastTikTok on TikTokYou can say hi and tell us what you're watching: criminalityshow@gmail.comEnjoy the show? Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon --------------------------------------------------- #realtalk #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #dance #dancers #vogue #voguedqnce #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing
David Beckham met Victoria Adams in the Manchester United Players Lounge on 15th March, 1997. The Spice Girl wrote her parents' phone number onto a boarding pass, passed it to the midfielder, and reportedly told him, “Mr. Beckham, if you don't ring me, I'm going to kick you in the bollocks.” David had apparently admired ‘Posh' in the Say You'll Be There video, while Victoria had perused David's photo in a Panini sticker album. From these humble beginnings they established themselves as football's first ‘power couple', as relevant to readers of the front pages as they were to the sports pages at the back. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain why, in the initial days of their relationship, ‘Posh and Becks' returned regularly to a branch of Harvester; consider how their joint star power eclipsed their fame as individuals; and how the couple effectively created the PR template for exploiting a ‘personal brand'... In this week's episode of The Indy Author Podcast, Edwin Hill discusses STORY STRUCTURE AND CHARACTER MOTIVATION. We discuss the motivational continuum, and how you can move from depicting the everyday world of expectation to the world of dreams and dreads, which is where the most engaging stories take place. We discuss where the key turning points in a work of fiction occur, and how you can use them to decide where your story may need to be expanded or tightened up. **Trigger Warning** This show is about Cancer. This is one of the saddest sentences I have ever written: A week ago, my step son was diagnosed with Cancer. Today's show is about finding all of the gifts that come with this tragic diagnosis. They are there, you just have to find them. While I am mad, sad, shocked, and scared, I also see that their is still so much joy in life to be found if we look for it. Everyday is different and this will be a long bumpy road ahead. But I know there will be many wonderful gifts ahead as well. *Please pray for my stepson if you are believer. Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:15 We weren't sure we could record this week because my power went out for a couple of hours. We will have another episode out on July 18th and will be off August 1st. I released this on Saturday as I was traveling. Please let us know if you would like us to continue to release on Saturdays or if Sundays are fine as usual. Chandra has been watching Wimbledon and is looking forward to the women's final. Roger Federer lost in the quarter final and he looked injured. We talk about our random injuries. Royals: Minutes 4:15 to 16:30 Last week we talked about Duchess Kate not going to the statue unveiling, which was surely William's idea. This week we heard that she was exposed to covid, but the palace was squirrely about where that exposure happened, only stating that she learned about it on Friday when she was at Wimbledon. The timeline is that on Tuesday, Kate, William and Prince George went to the England-Germany football match. Then on Friday July 2nd Kate was at Wimbledon. On Monday they announced that Kate was self isolating after being exposed to someone who tested positive for covid. The timeline suggests that Kate was exposed at the football match with George and William, which begs the question as to why those two aren't isolating too. It's also possible Kate was exposed somewhere else. We wonder if Kate is double vaccinated as they claim. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. It really looks like Kate and William don't live together because William didn't have to quarantine. Minute 11:00 Princess Charlene has been in South Africa since mid May as far as we know. She's been married to Prince Albert for 10 years and they have twins together, Gabriella and Jacques, who are six. I have a mailing list signup with the top 8 stories about how she's trying to escape. You can find the link to that at http://celebitchy.com/podcast under episode 96. Charlene has gone through about three drastic hair changes in the past few months and she hasn't been seen in Monaco since the beginning of the year. We heard that Charlene is staying in South African because she has had ENT issues and has had to have multiple surgeries for that, which is why she missed her tenth anniversary. Albert had a paternity claim come up at the end of December for a child conceived in 2005, when he was dating Charlene. He has two known out-of-wedlock children, who are now young adults. Before Charlene and Albert were married she was caught trying to pull a runaway bride and was apprehended by police at the airport in Nice trying to fly home on a one way ticket to South Africa. We wonder if Charlene has to choose between her freedom and her children. Charlene issued a statement saying she misses Albert and her children. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 16:30 to 22:15 Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez did their first pap stroll together! Multiple agencies had the photos of them out walking in the Hamptons and they're wearing coordinating beige outfits so it was definitely planned. You can tell that Jennifer is styling Ben as he looks groomed and put together. There was a story in People Magazine with insider quotes about the strength of their relationship. Ben, Jennifer and her 13-year-old twins and Ben's son, Samuel, 9, were seen at Universal Studios before Ben and Jennifer headed to the Hamptons. US Magazine has a cover story with syrupy quotes about them. We wonder whether Ben or Jennifer is behind all the cheesy stories about them in the press. I play a segment from Zoom where Michelle, Karen, Ameerah and Zakia talk about this. We wonder whether Jennifer is going to clean up after Ben's messes. Either way it's a fun story for us. Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:15 to 26 My comment of the week is from SusanRagain on the link post of Marion Cotillard at Cannes in a ridiculous Chanel outfit. Chandra's comment for the week is from AVEA on the post claiming Prince Philip wouldn't want Queen Elizabeth to mourn. Thanks for listening bitches! Call us or leave a voicemail at 434-218-3219

Not for the faint of heart, thin skinned, narrow minded or bigoted, Melissa and Tim get hot and go deep in celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights icon and Congressman John Lewis, Trump et al's continued assault on democracy, the hypocrisy of religious zealots who fail to practice what they preach and more (in other words, if you don't want to hear some brutally tough talk about politics, religion, language and Melissa's body parts, you might want to sit this one out). Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 Chandra’s youngest cat was sick with a respiratory virus, would could have been coronavirus but there’s no way to tell. He’s improving and Chandra’s older cat didn’t get sick, but she thinks he brought it home with him. I’ve been baking, which I’ve never tried before. I’ve made banana bread a couple of times and that turned out well and I mentioned that I was about to make challah bread. It turned out great! Here’s a link to a photo of that. What should we keep from our lockdown lifestyle?: Minutes 6:00 to 23:30 Chandra wrote a story last week asking what we should keep and what we should ditch from our lockdown. We have fun talking about the things we should keep or leave behind, including: - Shaking hands - Hugs from people we don’t know well - Kissing as a greeting, with hot Spanish and French guys excepted - Washing hands frequently - Wearing masks - Social distancing and personal space - Takeout and takeout cocktails - Buffets - Working from home - Cruises - Cheap gas - Gyms and group classes vs. outdoor exercise - Going to the movies - Bars and clubs - Hard pants! For the record, I’m still wearing jeans at home - Hair salons and nail salons - Concerts - Shopping extra for things you use Royals: Minutes 23:30 to 28:15 The Sussexes sent a letter to the Sun, Daily Mail, Mirror and Express that they would have “zero engagement” with them and would only talk to them through lawyers. Now we know that the sources they use are either made up or come from Kensington Palace. So many royal households have participated in the tabloid smears against them. The tabloids had the courtier’s reactions to that, who claimed they were stunned and likened it to censorship. The Sussexes videoconferenced Queen Elizabeth for her 94th birthday and let friendly outlets know about it. Becky English at the Daily Mail ran a petty response to that, criticizing the Sussexes for confirming the new. All of this happened in the days leading up to the big hearing on Friday between the Sussexes and The Mail on Sunday. The Sussexes lawyer released the text messages that Harry and Meghan sent to her father, Thomas Markle, who told TMZ that he had a heart attack preventing him from attending Meghan and Harry’s wedding. The messages showed that Thomas lied to the press and that Meghan and Harry repeatedly tried to contact him. They asked him if he was OK and they offered to send him security and to visit him in the hospital. Maya Hawke: Minutes 28:15 to 32:30 Maya Hawke, 21, is covering Nylon Magazine, where she talked smack about Generation X. She didn’t just make a throwaway comment, she went on about it. Chandra thinks that Maya was being a brat, but also that she was really funny and somewhat self aware. Maya said her parents’ generation was just driving around in gas-guzzling cars and getting high without a care and that “they really f’ed us.” That story blew up. Of course we don’t blame Generation X because we’re Gen-X and Xennial. She’s not completely wrong, the 90s were a lot of fun, but we did have the AIDS crisis and the Challenger disaster. User Feedback: Minutes 32:30 to 33:45 Hollah thanked us for putting the podcast out on Sundays now and Molly reminded me about small breast privilege. Comments of the Week: Minutes 33:45 to 38:30 My comment of the week is from Flamingo on the post about Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes covering US Magazine. Chandra’s comment of the week is from Oatmeal on the post about Novak Djokovic being anti-vax. Thanks for listening bitches! Text us or leave a voicemail at 434-218-3219.

My piano lessons were a dark, 45-minute drive from home. Mom and I left home at 6:30 am on Tuesday mornings to get there before school. “Luke is really good at this,” Ms. McGill said after my third lesson. I was eight, and that simple comment, deliberately made within earshot, gave me confidence with music that I carry even to this day (despite my obvious lack of skill as an adult). I never said thank you to Ms. McGill. I should have. My sophomore year in high school, Mrs. Johnston tortured every paper I gave her with red ink. It was a bloodbath, and I suffered. But at the end of the semester, she gave me an A. It was one of the more meaningful grades I ever received, and her red ink comments continue to help me write better to this day. Mrs. Johnston smoked and was 50-years older than me, I'm sure she's passed away by now. I should have said thank you. On this week's podcast, we'll discuss the simple and powerful practice of writing thank you letters: to people, to family members, to cities, to the diseased, and even to people with whom you'll never see again. We often talk about the woman's experience, but let's take a moment to talk about a father's experience during postpartum. I sit down and I have an interview with first time father, James, as he talks about his struggles, stressors, and difficulties with fatherhood. James also offers three tips for new dads to help them during the adjustment period of fatherhood. And we briefly discuss a new celebrity father's behaviors during his postpartum experience and what James thinks about that. I also share recent research covering Paternal Postnatal Depression and what some risk factors are for men. Andy Stein founded the Orphaned Starfish Foundation in 2001 to help orphans, victims of abuse and at-risk children worldwide escape their cycles of poverty and abuse through education and job training. From humble beginnings building a small computer vocational training center in an orphanage for young victims of abuse in Santiago, Chile, he has built the Foundation to now serve over 13,000 children in 62 programs in 27 countries: Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Honduras, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ecuador, Haiti, Cambodia, Colombia, Ethiopia, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Uruguay, American Samoa & Nepal. Andy has partnered with local partners in each of these countries, including Save the Children, Rotary Club, and USAID. "Tio Andy! Tio Mago!" Andy makes yearly visits to each Orphaned Starfish program. Mago is Spanish for Magician. He brings a magic show complete with balloon animals for all the children. (His highest amount recorded was 1,000 balloon animals in one sitting.) His visits also allow for a personal connection not only to the children but to the institutions and their directors and teachers. Every visit helps OSF learn what is needed at our programs so we may better serve these children. Every trip also allows for new program scouting. For his work helping the children of the favelas of Brazil, Andy was awarded an Honorary Citizenship in Rio De Janeiro by their Congress. In the United States, he has also been awarded the Jefferson Award for Community Service, the key to the city of Miami Beach, and several other state and local honors. He and the Orphaned Starfish Foundation have been featured on CBS News, Fox News, ABC News, Telemundo and Univision as well as in the Wall Street Journal, Miami Herald, Star Ledger, Jewish Week and US Magazine. Andy has also been a member of the Benefit Committees for Aleh Foundation, National Academy for the Arts, US Doctors for Africa, and Harlem’s Playing 2 Win Foundation. Prior to his work with Orphaned Starfish, Andy was active in Special Olympics, Rotary Club and Counterpart International. Visit the Orphaned Starfish Website and donate today!
Intro: Minutes 0 to 5 We had an awesome week and are really looking forward to impeachment hearings. I talk about the tandem skydive I had scheduled for the weekend. I decided to do that after covering an interview with Viola Davis who had just done a plane jump. (Update: that didn’t happen due to a weather cancelation and I have to reschedule!) We talk about Viola’s Emmy sneakers and how wedges and flip flops are comfortable. Royals: Minutes 5 to 13:45 Harry and Meghan are suing the Mail on Sunday for publishing a handwritten letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas Markle. Meghan set that up perfectly by sending her father the letter in August after he ditched her wedding. The text of the letter directly contradicted the claims Thomas had been making to the media for months. The letter was then referenced in a People cover article about Meghan in February. Thomas took the bait and sold the letter to the Mail right after that. It was a smart strategy by Meghan and Harry, which Thomas played right into. Harry’s letter to the media about the lawsuit put so many outlets on notice for their negative coverage. Reports vary as to whether Harry told the Queen and his father about the lawsuit and/or his letter. We talk about Meghan’s shirtdresses on this tour. I love shirtdresses but Chandra doesn’t like them because she has big boobs. We doubt trench dresses are ever going to catch on. Meghan is such a natural and is so great at her job. Angelina Jolie: Minutes 13:45 to 17:45 Angelina is doing a press tour for the first time in years. She’s been giving quotes which sound like she’s referencing problems in her marriage to Brad Pitt. Chandra thinks she’s saying that the past few years have really hurt. I remember when Jennifer Lopez made similar oblique references about her marriage to Marc. US Magazine reported supposed insider quotes that Angelina thinks Brad pressured her into getting married and that she will never marry again, but we think that was an educated guess. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin: Minutes 17:45 to 22 Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin had a fun second wedding with friends in South Carolina, although they were officially married over a year ago. I say they got married so they could have sex, and Chandra reminds me that they dated prior to this and had already had sex, and that Justin opened up about his relationship issues which he wanted to work out before getting into another serious relationship. Justin bought two savannah breed exotic cats at a cost of $35,000! We think they look beautiful but very naughty and that he should have adopted rescue kitties instead. User Feedback: Minutes 22 to 26:30 Thanks to Cristin and Lady D for letting us know how they found us years ago. We love stories like that! That makes us reminisce about the Gosselins and how trashy they were. DogObsessedGirl texted us that she works at a doggie day care and that the dogs are soothed by the Great British Baking Show! Chandra’s sweet late dog Pogu used to love it too and British shows in particular. Her cats now enjoy tennis, which is good because Chandra watches so much of it. Comments of the Week: Minutes 26:30 to 31:30 My comments of the week are from virginfangirls and CharliePenn are on the story about the rogues gallery around President Trump and what scumbags they are. Chandra’s comments of the week are from the Vanity Fair cover story about Joaquin Phoenix. OriginalLala summed up Joker director Todd Phillips’ position on “woke culture” perfectly while OriginalRose wrote about how Joaquin is raising his dogs vegan. I didn’t realize that’s what she was referring to and thought it was about vegan hot dogs! We talk about the trend of raising dogs and cats vegan and agree that this is so bad for pets! We have some controversial thoughts on raising kids vegan. Thanks for listening bitches! Please text or leave us a voicemail at 434-218-3219.
Intro: Minutes 0 to 8 I’ve been watching the new season of The Great British Baking Show with my mom, which Chandra loves too. Chandra is watching the docuseries Country Music on PBS by Ken Burns. We talk about Johnny Cash being a huge celebrity and friends with Bob Dylan and what a great show this is. We’re both hopeful after news of an impeachment inquiry, which is putting Chandra in a good mood. I don’t think he’ll be impeached but that it might mean we’re spared four more years. Emmys: Minutes 8 to 11:30 I have trouble falling asleep after big awards ceremonies. Chandra can fall asleep without a problem except on Oscars night. Big winners at the Emmys this year were Fleabag, which Hecate watched but didn’t love, Chernobyl and Game of Thrones. I watched Chernobyl and wish some of the actors would have won instead of the writers. Chandra avoided it because of what a downer it was. Game of Thrones won because it was their last season. Peter Dinklage won despite his character’s lousy story arc. Royals: Minutes 11:30 to 23 We got to see Baby Archie who is huge and looks “scooped out of his daddy’s ass,” as Chandra puts it. Archie is adorable and looks like he’s got a lot of personality. Meghan has been wearing simple, uncontroversial outfits on this African tour. I’ve liked her looks and think she’s trying to keep the focus on her visits. Chandra wishes Meghan hadn’t repeated so many looks from her last tour, especially since she wore a $13,000 dress to a wedding in Rome. She talks about the controversy over Meghan’s hair being half covered, but still hanging out during her visit to a mosque. I thought that was deliberate so she wasn’t criticized for trying too hard. Neither of us liked her dress at that visit, which was baggy and olive-colored. We both liked her black Everlane jumpsuit and her Martin Grant maxi dress. Minute 18: Princess Beatrice got engaged to a guy named Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi . Her ring is pretty but understated. It’s a similar design to Meghan’s ring. We agree that it’s not worth the £300,000 that The Sun says it’s worth. Chandra wonders how much of a blue blood Edoardo is and calls him “trash adjacent,” which is definitely true now. Demi Moore: Minutes 23 to 28 Demi Moore said in her new book that she had threesomes with Ashton Kutcher, that they left her feeling ashamed, and that Ashton Kutcher cheated on her during their marriage. We’ve know Ashton is a cheater for years because two different mistresses came out, on the record, to gossip outlets at the time. Chandra reminded me of that time that Scott Eastwood said his girlfriend cheated on him with Ashton, when Ashton was married. Ashton’s response to Demi’s book was petty and lame but we had to logout of Twitter to see it because he blocked both of us years ago. Chandra talks about her tweet on Emmy’s night calling out Tim Allen for being a Maga, which went viral and drew the attention of the Maga loonies. By saying Ashton is an a-hole we’re not saying Demi is a saint. Brad Pitt: Minutes 28 to 31 Brad Pitt is covering US Magazine with the news that he has a new girlfriend, a 50-year-old jewelry designer and holistic healer named Sat Hari Khalsa. We think it’s cool that she’s age-appropriate for Brad, who is 55. Chandra mentioned the news that Sat Hari was allegedly a sober companion to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which may explain how she met Brad. I found the website for her jewelry line and the pieces are Indian-influenced and crazy expensive. I ask Chandra if Brad is both leaking the news that he’s with this woman and then denying it. She said she thinks that’s the case, because he did that with Neri Oxman. User Questions: Minutes 31 to 34:30 Maggie asked us in a text if we have any LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian news which didn’t make the site. They did contact us and I got a lawyer involved as I explain. My decision about that matter was based on LeAnn naming Celebitchy in a lawsuit against another blogger who had recorded a phone call with LeAnn and posted it. That lawsuit was dismissed. We haven’t heard about LeAnn in a while but assume that Eddie is cheating on her because that’s who he is. I thank LaUnica Angelina and Lila who both gave us nice feedback! Comments of the Week: Minutes 34:30 to 38 My comments of the week are from Luna and Original LaLa about Hillary Clinton’s awesome new look and the impeachment party dress code. Chandra’s comments of the week are from Jenns and Diana on the post about Jennifer Lopez’s shady 1998 interview. Thanks for listening bitches! Our number to text or leave a message is 434-218-3219.
I’m allergic to red meat and this is a quicker episode: Minutes 0 to 2 This is a shorter podcast than usual because it’s our second attempt at recording this week. The first time we talked it didn’t record. So we’re goofier than usual because we know we’re making the same jokes! I mention that I’m allergic to meat (red meat specifically, it’s called Alpha-gal allergy) after that tick bite last week. Royals: Minutes 2 to 8:30 Duchess Meghan made her first post-baby event appearance at Trooping The Color last weekend. We were surprised that people were focusing on her weight because she just had a baby! Meghan and Harry were shoved to the back of the balcony behind other royals, which seemed odd to us. Kate and Meghan are getting along great, and as we’ve seen it’s the brothers, Harry and William, who are feuding. We haven’t seen Harry and William together in a long time and it looks like they’re avoiding each other. Duchess Kate is covering US Magazine with the title “Grace Under Pressure” about how she handled the rumors of her husband cheating. She didn’t say anything about it, which was smart. Kate and William visited a sheep farm together looking matchy and Kate later went to an addiction gala in a fit and flare white dress. Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper broke up: Minutes 8:30 to 14 Chandra mentions that they promoted the breakup like it was a movie. We kept hearing that they were having problems and when the news of the breakup came it wasn’t a surprise. We wonder about Bradley’s relationships because he never seems to be in love. There are rumors that Lady Gaga is the reason why they broke up but that makes no sense to us. They’re not promoting anything and we don’t buy them as a couple. Nicole Kidman takes her cats hiking: Minutes 14 to 15:45 Nicole Kidman has two long-haired fluffy cats, Snow and Ginger, whom she takes hiking with her in a little backpack made for small pets. She talks to them like they’re babies and has posted video of it to Instagram. US Women’s Soccer team criticized for celebrating their wins: Minutes 15:45 to 19 The US Women’s Soccer Team celebrated after every goal when they beat the Thai team in The World Cup, and they were criticized for that. We find that sexist, especially because the US Women’s Soccer Team is fighting for recognition and suing US Soccer for gender discrimination. User Feedback: Minutes 19 to 20 Thanks to Marshmallow on Twitter, LaUnica Angelina and Lila for your nice feedback! We missed you too. Comments of the Week: Minutes 20 to 25 My comment of the week is from Giddy on the post about Trump tweeting he’d met with the Prince of “Whales.” Chandra’s comment of the week is from Other Renee on the post about Kendall Jenner never trying a Hershey’s kiss. She hates dark chocolate and I hate white chocolate and think it’s garbage. We also complain about people bragging about only eating dark chocolate. Thanks for listening bitches!

We tried something new this week! We talked about three stories we deliberately didn’t cover! We start off with Operation Varsity Blues and how Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are covering US Magazine. We talk about Elizabeth Holmes the Theranos scammer’s deep voice and how it’s probably an affectation and code switching. We call it a bit sexist to focus on her voice and appearance when so many men do the same thing. Chandra is also watching Billions on Showtime and she talked about how great it is. We cover the teaser trailer for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and say it looks like a campy fun film set in 70s Hollywood, but also like it’s using the Manson family murders and Bruce Lee to add interest. We talk about the royals and the controversy over the fashion brands which Kate and Meghan are wearing. Finally we cover Lena Dunham’s cringey essay for Vogue, which we definitely didn’t talk about on the site. It’s a long self-indulgent mess in which she requests some kind of unspecified light S&M from a sketchy guy. Our user question is about the type of people we think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will end up dating (we get a bit racy in that part). We have three comments of the week this week! Prior to his work with Orphaned Starfish, Andy was active in Special Olympics, Rotary Club, and Counterpart International. Andy Stein is a recovering banker having worked in banking for nearly 25 years. He was President and CEO of Makopastreet Partners, LLC. Makopastreet Partners provides senior debt financing for luxury and ultra-luxury hotel, and mixed-use developments, as well as infrastructure projects worldwide. Andy has been a featured speaker at several industry conferences worldwide and was a guest professor on the topic of international hotel finance at Wharton for the past several years. Andy was a Senior Vice President at a large German Bank, running their Hospitality Division and, prior to that was a Vice President at Chase and its predecessor institutions focussing on Infrastructure and Project Finance. From 1993 – 1996, Andy was based in Manila, the Philippines as the Joint Head of Corporate Finance for Chase’s (formerly Chemical Bank’s) Manila Branch. During his tenure in Manila, Andy developed the Bank’s project finance and hospitality expertise in the Philippines. Andy also was instrumental in the execution of the Brady Plan bonds, which restructured the bank debt of several Latin American and Asian countries. Andy holds a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from the University of Virginia. Andy is married to Dilia Stein and has two sons, all very much involved with Orphaned Starfish Foundation. Andy lives in New York City when not traveling for the Foundation. The World Needs More Of: 1. Caring for Others: People willing to give an opportunity to those most in need of it. 2. Love, Laughter and, of course Magic Wow Factor: My WOW factor is that I left a successful career in banking to spend my life dedicated to helping orphans, victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children and at-risk youth break their cycles of abuse and poverty. Over 18 years ago, I was one of the top fliers for Continental Airlines for all my business travel. I told each bank country manager that in order for me to get on another plane and pitch business, they had to find me an orphanage and time in the schedule to play with those kids, make balloon animals and help them with their work and homework. 18 years ago, in one such orphanage in Chile, the nuns told me that when each girl reached the age of adulthood, they had to leave the orphanage and each girl that left would become a prostitute or live on the streets. I started the Orphaned Starfish Foundation to help these girls, building a state of the art computer center in their orphanage, and it was magic. Six months later the younger girls were the head of their classes, the older girls learned computer skills, and, since we started, only one girl went to the streets, and all others got into university or got jobs. Favorite Color: Blue
We were so excited to catch up after we missed our talk last week to cover the Oscars. We discuss The Oscars and how we were scrambling to cover them live after upsets for Best Actress and Best Picture. We also cover the surprisingly biggest story to come out of the Oscars: Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s supposed chemistry and how Irina Shayk, Bradley’s partner, should be jealous. We crack up about Miranda Lambert’s messy marriage to a NYC cop she’s known all of three months who was living with his pregnant mistress when he met her. We also cover recent royal appearances, including Meghan and Harry’s trip to Morocco and Kate and William’s trip to Northern Ireland. Plus Meghan and Kate covered both People and Us Magazine this week. We analyze Jordyn Woods’ appearance on Red Table Talk and whether we think she’s telling the truth. We also talk about Khloe Kardashian’s history of taking back cheating men and blaming the other woman. In our section answering user questions, I own up to three stories I’ve gotten massively wrong. We pick three comments of the week this week! Links to the stories and photos we mention are available at the podcast section on the top of Celebitchy.com and here: https://www.celebitchy.com/?p=612163
This week we talk about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt covering US Magazine after Brad went to Jennifer’s 50th birthday party. It felt like old school gossip and like they’d just hit pause for over 15 years. We also discuss Duchess Meghan’s dad selling a handwritten letter she wrote him that showed how gracious she was to him after he sold her out. That was a clever chess move by Meghan, who forced her dad’s hand after mentioning the letter in her sourced People profile. George Clooney defended Meghan and called out the British press, similar to the way he called them out after Diana’s death. Of course the British press came for Clooney after that. And we talk about the Oscars and how much of a mess we think it will be this year. You can find the stories we talk about at Celebitchy.com under the podcast section and the post for this episode is: https://www.celebitchy.com/?p=610154 Music via Premiumbeat and credit A.A. Alto

The epic story of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger will forever be known as one of the greatest moments in sports history. The on-field moment lasted for twenty-seven seconds, but his legacy is complete as one of the most famous graduates of the historic University of Notre Dame. The son of an oil refinery worker and third of fourteen children, Rudy Ruettiger chose resiliency and strength over discouragement and despair. Armed with a fierce determination, Rudy was able to achieve a lifelong dream - to attend Notre Dame University and play football for the Fighting Irish. As fans cheered RU-DY, RU-DY, RU-DY, he sacked the quarterback in the twenty-seven seconds of the only play of his college football career! The stadium was electrified, and he was carried off the field on the shoulders of his teammates. In 1993, TRISTAR Productions immortalized his life story with the blockbuster film, RUDY. Written and produced by Angelo Pizzo and David Anspaugh, the award-winning team who brought us HOOSIERS, the critically acclaimed RUDY received "Two Thumbs Up" from Siskel and Ebert. It is commonly known as one of the all-time great sport films. Today, he is consistently one of the most popular motivational speakers entertaining corporate audiences around the world with a unique, passionate and heartfelt style of communicating. He reaches school children, university students, and professional athletes with the same enthusiasm, embodying the human spirit that comes from his personal experiences of adversity and triumph. Rudy frequently shares the speaking platform with great leaders and speakers including President George Bush, First Lady Barbara Bush, Peter Lowe, Joe Montana, General Colin Powell, Christopher Reeve, and Zig Ziglar. From introduction to conclusion, he receives thunderous applause and ovations from emotional audiences as they chant RU-DY, RU-DY, RU-DY. In addition to speaking, Rudy Ruettiger has co-authored several books, including: RUDY'S INSIGHTS FOR WINNING IN LIFE, RUDY'S LESSONS FOR YOUNG CHAMPIONS, and RUDY & FRIENDS, and has produced the DREAM POWER tape series. He has appeared in numerous media outlets such as People Magazine, Sports Illustrated, US Magazine, Readers Digest, Inside Sports, The 700 Club, NFL Films, CBS Goodmorning, ABC Good Morning America, NBC Talk Live, Regis and Kathy Lee, Montel Williams Show, and Entertainment Tonight. Rudy is the founder of the Rudy Foundation, an organization tasked with the goal of assisting children of all ages to maximum their full potential. The Rudy Foundation develops and supports programs that cognitively, emotionally, physically and spiritually impacts the lives of children. The Foundation's award program, The Rudy Award Program, recognizes children who make an outstanding effort to reach their personal best in everyday situations. Selfish for Success: Entrepreneur | Business | Psychology | Self Esteem | Happiness | Health
Today, I spot selfishness in two media powerhouses: the long-running reality TV show The Bachelor, and the outspoken digital-media entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. I was in a supermarket a few months back, and the cover of US Magazine (not a rag I read) caught my eye. On the cover was a photo of The Bachelor, Nick Viall, with a large quote that read: "I've Been So Selfish." I was compelled to read it. What I found is that Mr. Nick was, in fact, selfish, but in the positive way I discuss on this show. Unfortunately, he meant it as an apology. Despite being a superficial reality show, The Bachelor is watched by millions and Viall's apology reflects the wide cultural belief that selfishness is bad and self-sacrifice is good. I defend Viall's actions as being rationally selfish, and discuss why successfully choosing a romantic partner requires absolute selfishness. Gary Vaynerchuk is a force in digital media. His confident, outspoken personality has drawn a massive following, while building two successful companies. In a self-penned article, "Two Secrets to Staying Motivated & Hungry," he names Selfishness as one of the secrets. And to my amazement, most of what he says about selfishness is positive! I also discuss his response to a question about being selfish from his popular Ask Gary Vee show. One of my favorite quotes from Gary V: "Be grateful for the time you have and selfish with the time you have left." Lots of great stuff in today's show, so listen now and enjoy! Today's Success Question Do you ever feel guilty for being selfish, for doing things just for you (e.g., exercising, taking a vacation, getting a massage, breaking up with someone)? If not, great! If so, do you think you deserve to feel guilty for that? https://entrearchitect.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/KHMarch2017byAMRossi1600x1200.jpg ()Katie Hutchison Living a Portfolio Life Katie is an architect, an author, photographer and many other things based in Warren Rhode Island. She’s passionate about residential architecture, specifically small projects. She’s the author of http://amzn.to/2uepzUp (The New Small House) and she’s currently working on a new book. This week on EntreArchitect Podcast, Living a Portfolio Life with Katie Hutchison. Katie’s Origin Story Architecture didn’t come to Katie early. She was most interested in writing when she was younger and she pursued that initially. Throughout her early childhood and education, she was very interested in fine arts; she drew, painted, and felt like she was very spatially aware. After her degree, she went to work for magazines, including US Magazine, in Manhattan. Her friend worked for Robert A. M. Stern, and she ended up with a temporary position in the Publicity department there. She worked in the slide library of architecture from around the world. Katie spent hours in the tiny room going through the slides. After that, she decided to go back to school and her family connections brought her to the Newport, Rhode Island. She called the head of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and inquired about their architecture program; they only had an undergraduate program and she wanted to know if they had any suggestions. They suggested that Katie enroll as a transfer student, essentially using her prior credits to advance as far as possible and then take the remaining courses required for a Bachelors of Architecture degree. Upon graduating in 1992 during a recession, Katie started at a Benefit Street Design, a firm in Providence that specialized in commercial interiors. After that, she jumped around a lot at many firms based on where her and her husband relocated to. When did you officially start practicing? Katie went out on her own in 2002. Shortly thereafter, she collaborated with an architect friend in Cape Cod which helped bring in some consistent work and get her off the ground. She has various other interests in addition to architecture, so her view of the small firm life is diversified. Not long after she went out on her own, she began freelance writing for https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiU7oW4k5jVAhWZuMAKHcdxBhUYABAAGgJpbQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESEeD2tvhw7pPnhpuKCPk4zTup&sig=AOD64_2TfIcSpNx7mgT5nbWydzWPk236hw&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjwkv63k5jVAhVB-2MKHZb1BGUQ0QwIJg&adurl= (Fine Homebuilding). It was a great way to keep her thinking about design and build some publicity. That’s what started her along the journey to eventually write her book. Katie had a friend who worked for another publication at https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiO892qlJjVAhUX9GMKHaxBCKQQFggyMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.taunton.com%2F&usg=AFQjCNF73bTuUFfU1Uyp8T1gEHshhJ3kSQ (The Taunton Press) and continued to pitch them her ideas. Why did you decide to be a sole practitioner? Like any other career choices, Katie’s career evolved from who she was. She always followed design-oriented pursuits and didn’t want to do just one thing to the exclusion of the others. She loves the change in activity, bouncing around between writing, billing, administrative work, phone calls, and more. How did you begin writing your book? In 2007, she started pitching book ideas to The Taunton Press. They brought her in for a meeting to discuss concepts and figure out what was marketable. Because of the recession in 2008, her first book idea was killed. One day, she got a call that they had a book idea in the queue but no author to write it. In Katie’s case, it wasn’t a straightforward path, it was a lot of back and forth and working toward a...

Over the last 13 years as a certified fitness professional, Pilates instructor and nutritionist, Danette has changed the lives of 100’s of thousands of people by transforming their bodies and helping them achieve their weight loss goals. And it’s with this experience and a degree in pre-med and nutrition, she founded Mindful Health, LLC, a platform that provides millions of people around the world with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to look and feel their best while living more healthy and zestful lives. She's the author of several best selling books, 7 Day Jumpstart, Bikini Body Detox, and Bikini Body Recipes, a recipe book with 5 ingredient meals that take 10 minutes or less to prepare, for busy women and men who want to save time in the grocery store, save time in the kitchen, and have more meaningful time with families and loved ones. Danette has been a fitness model for US Magazine and Women’s Health Magazine, and a frequent guest on National TV, Access Hollywood, Hallmark Home and Family and CBS LA. Additionally, she's starred in some of the top-selling fitness videos including “Flat Abs Fast,” “Bootcamp Bikini Body,” and “Get Me In My Skinny Jeans.” Danette has worked with some of the top fitness professionals in the industry including Jillian Michaels and George St. Pierre. For the first time ever, Danette shared her “$47 story” at my wife’s event, The Bliss Project. After the fear of being too vulnerable subsided, Danette now shares her story with the world to let us all know, that it is VERY MUCH possible to change your life, the minute you change your mindset. “I feel like so many of us are just going through life on cruise control.” After losing her second-born during childbirth, Danette spiraled into a deep depression. She went from being an active fitness leader to a young Mom who couldn't bring herself to get out of the house for months. “Looking back I like to call it a refiners moment, it's how glass and diamonds are made. You are getting burned, but turn out better than ever.” Just when you thought things couldn't get worse, she tells us the terrible things her ex had put her through including wiping the bank account clean, leaving her with her two daughters broke. “I remember telling my girls we were going to play a game, to try and find any and all money we could around the house, including in-between the couch cushions. We came up with $47.63” Survival mode set in. There was no way she was going to allow her ex to bring her and her beautiful baby-girls down like that. Starting off with books and podcasts, Danette educated herself each day. Not having money was never an excuse. There is so much coaching for free on the internet, if you are willing to belly up and listen to it. Fast forwarding to today, Danette has become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the business. Not only did she move on spiritually and financially, but Danette is now also married and continues raising her two young daughters who I know will only be just as successful as Danette, when they are older. “The motto in our family is “Small hinges move big doors.” I know that my eldest daughter knows that money takes work and showing up in even the smallest ways each day.” Having Danette on my podcast today was such an honor. Her life advice and the inspiration she exudes cant be topped. Order 'Trauma: Season 1,' created by Dario Scardapane, available from Amazon.com by clicking the DVD cover above! (2009) From what I’ve read, the opening 10 minutes of the NBC drama “Trauma”—and say that five times fast—is the greatest introduction to a TV show ever. It cures cancer, tames global warming and reveals the secrets behind “Lost.” Okay, maybe it doesn’t do the last thing, but still! Seriously, NBC has had great success with emergency medicine shows going back to “Emergency!”—the one with the exclamation point—and, of course, the long-running “ER.” DARIO SCARDAPANE podcast excerpt: "I keep hearing, 'Okay, that's a pretty amazing way to start things. How are you going to keep up with it week after week?' Television isn't the realm of the timid. Setting the bar really, really high for yourself... I embrace it." Dario Scardapane is the creator and executive producer of “Trauma,” which, all; kidding aside, is one of the most talked about dramas of the new TV season. And Scardapane brings an unusual background to this show. Instead of being a Hollywood set rat, he’s a former journalist who has worked at Vogue, Los Angeles Times, Details and US Magazine. Movie Meltdown - Episode 192 Sure the zombie apocalypse is upon us... but it's still business as usual here at "Movie Meltdown"! Recorded "live" from the middle of the 8th Annual "Louisville Zombie Attack", we wander the streets with droves of the undead and somehow still manage to deliver our usual movie geek banter. This event was one of the first of it's kind and has since become one of the largest gatherings of zombies in the country. Last year alone they unleashed between 8000 - 9000 zombies on the city! And this year the tradition continues as we talk to the creators of the event and find out a little more about the crazy preparation and logistics involved in conducting an event this big (and potentially out of control)! Plus movie geeks that we are, we ask people 'the question of the episode', that is described as not just hard but... just plain mean!! And as we hang out not too far from the SWAT team outside of the Dairy Queen, we also address... David Cronenberg, continually slamming US Magazine, favorite movies of the year, zombies riding the bus, Jeremy Northup, and also let's not forget... Frank Stallone, Ridley Scott, mixed martial arts, Cube, Tony Scott, Big Fan, Cosmopolis, Ruby Sparks, the warthogs??, explode-nentially, police... traffic... waste management... emergency services, so heavy-handed, children zombies, Jason Yee, Splice, Alan Parker, Zoe Kazan, someone almost ruined one of my favorite silent movies, Prometheus, reuse recycle... your caskets, Sasha Grey, Sean Penn, we're this cool Hollywood couple, Lucy Liu, zombie or drunk?, Birdemic: Shock and Terror, making it safe and fun for everybody, the life of the zombie in the tutu and a cowboy hat, Vincenzo Natali, Rumble Fish, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Girl from the Naked Eye, Man on Fire, Paul Dano, when the zombies tried to turn over the bus, Mickey Rourke, convincing everyone you are the beautiful girl, squeezing tears out of my eyes, millions of dollars in insurance, Dominique Swain, Darren Aronofsky and coffin go karts! "There's more and more zombies just crowding around us... and it's getting darker and darker."
