I recently ran across the transcript from an interview I conducted fifteen years ago with theologian and author, David Wells. My last question to Dr Wells was this: If you were to address a room full of youth workers and you had the opportunity to communicate one message to them, what one message would you communicate? Here's his answer, and it applies to parents as well:  It is time to get brave. Let's stop the pandering. Kids see right through it. Let's give them the real thing. They are looking for it. No one has demanded anything of them; let us tell them that if they come to Christ, he bids them die. No one has told them that they can know truth as something other than their own private perspectives; let us tell them there is Truth and those who know it, lose their lives. No one has told them that there is a different way of life. If we tell them that they can have Christ on their own terms, we are selling them down the river. They instinctively know that. So, let us not make fools of ourselves anymore.

Dear Parents, Now more than ever, our teens need our support just in a different way. Many teens are anxious and depressed due to varied reasons. How can we help prevent this or support them through it? Data shows that low self esteem is a major feature in high number of cases with teens who suffer from anxiety and depression. There are reasons outside our control that could play a part as well but I want us to focus more of how we can help with the factors within our control. In this episode, I share 5 ways we can help our children build up their self esteem. I trust this helps. For more on parenting teens, come and join us on Instagram. We would love to see you there.

Dear Parents, Do you want to have less conflicts with your teens? We all have moments when we need to address concerning matters with our teens or our young adults (actually it applies to all children irrespective of their ages) . Many parents do share with me the fall outs that happen after they have corrected their teens. These fallouts most of the time could be a reaction to not considering these 4 points that I share in the video. Have a self reflection and think back at the last time you corrected your teen and got a disrespectful or rude response back, which out of these 4 were forgotten to be considered ? When you get in the habit of considering these 4 things, you will experience less conflicts with your children. I trust you found this helpful. Please share this episode with your family and friends so that they can also experience less conflicts in the home. If you found it helpful, please share with me what resonated the most for you. Also if you have any topics you would love me to talk about for future episodes, please do let me know as well. On this week's episode of Parent Tell, Kaila has an extremely fulfilling discussion with Sharon Silver, a parent educator with a world of experience on boundary setting, re-parenting, and proactive parenting. It's an episode where a Boomer and a Millennial lovingly collide to discuss why parenting can be so GD triggering, why it's so important for parents to educate themselves on how best to reach their children, and why it's okay to be screaming on the inside during one of your kiddo's tantrums as long as you're keeping it as zen as possible on the outside.Follow Parent Tell on InstagramSupport Parent Tell on PatreonSend Kaila an email with your parenting story at parenttellpod@gmail.com

Today, this conversation is a snippet of a larger discussion that I had with Gabbie Stroud. Gabbie is a former teacher and now spends time writing books about teaching and education. Some of her works include Teacher, Dear Parents and an article in the Griffith Review titled “Fixing the System.” In this discussion, we talked about the power of little, moments with students and what really matters.  The link to the whole episode is here: https://apple.co/3WpUW8v The Art of Teaching Podcast resources:  Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/artofteaching Here is the link to the show notes: https://theartofteachingpodcast.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theartofteachingpodcast/

Hi fresitas!! On today's episode we talk about breaking generational expectations and choosing yourself and putting yourself first. We talk about what it is like to have immigrant and undocumented parents and how that shaped us as people and how it affects the decisions we make. We just wanted to share some light on what it feels like to leave your family behind and move away from home and how that can sometimes lead to feeling guilty. We love you so much fresitas and we hope you enjoy this episode!Instagram & Tik Tok: @fresasconcremapodcastTwitter: fresasxcremapodEmail: fresasconcremapodcast@gmail.com

If you think you are helping by yelling instructions at your kid, someone else's kid or the referee during a game, you're not. You are actually causing harm to the players, their coach and the referee.

Thank you for doing the work thank you for recognizing there's a better way and thank you for asking for help. Therapy will give your children a fresh experience that you wish your parents gave you. Im happy therapy is talked about more with my generation... "no more family business mindset", that gets swept under the rug and never given a healthy solution. Our kids deserve better, so thank you. Let's talk about it.
