What is ESA money going towards? David Well with the Grand Canyon Institute explains the groups' views on the scholarship money and how it should be regulated.
Are you anxious about the future? David Wells, who is quite the scholar, wrote a book about 15 years ago, called Losing Our Virtue. And listen to what he says about this as we think about the future and the present. Wells says: “The world today intrudes upon us as it never has before, and one of the surest indications of this is that the levels of anxiety have never been higher in peoples lives. And why are we more anxious? There are, no doubt, many reasons, including a heightened tempo in the workplace, greater economic insecurity, too many choices, and perhaps, family breakdown.” This was before you had to worry about terrorism. This was before 9/11. He continues: “What is more, the extraordinary rapidity of change in our society powerfully fixes our attention upon the future, for we need to anticipate events that are in the making in order to avoid what will be harmful and to capitalize on what will be beneficial.” But then, listen to this. Wells says: “Anxiety, however, is nothing more than living out the future before it arrives. And modernity obliges us to do this many times over. The future is thereby greatly intensified.” Yet we're being instructed by Jesus to live in the present. Our lives should be focused on the day at hand.
Key Takeaways: + Prayer is the Direct Communication with God. + Prayer Shapes Outcomes. Psalm 34:6 (ESV) “In essence, prayer is rebellion – rebellion against the status quo, the state of the world in its sin and fallenness. It is the absolute and undying refusal to accept as normal what is completely abnormal. It is the rejection of every agenda, every scheme, every opinion that clashes with the norms that God originally established.” – David Wells. 2 Thessalonians 3:1–2 (CSB) Acts 12:1–5 (CSB) Philemon 22 (CSB) + Prayer is Contending for the Purposes of God. "The secret of prevailing prayer is not our eloquence, but our faith; not our fluency, but our fervency." - George Muller "Prevailing prayer is the most powerful force in the universe. It can move mountains, heal the sick, and change the world." - Charles Spurgeon 2 Corinthians 10:3–4 (NIV) "The number one reason why prayer malfunctions in the hands of a believers is that they try to turn a wartime walkie-talkie into a domestic intercom. Until you believe that life is war, you cannot know what prayer is for. Prayer is for the accomplishment of a wartime mission… But what have millions of Christians done? They have stopped believing that we are in a war. No urgency, no watching, no vigilance, no strategic planning. Just easy peacetime and prosperity. And what did they do with the walkie-talkie? They tried to rig it up as an intercom in their cushy houses and cabins and boats and cars - not to call in fire power for conflict with a mortal enemy, but to ask the maid to bring another pillow to the den." – Piper, Prayer the work of Missions + What status quo in your life do you need to rebel against? + Will you give yourself to intercessory prayer for the mission of God?

Joe Torre talks about how the current expectations of managers in baseball have changed. Plus, David Wells talked about his issues in the past with Joe. We play David's comments and Joe gives his response.
Hour 1 Boomer is out today and Stugotz is filling in, so it's Gio & Stugotz. He was up for the Program Director job at WFAN and he strung us along only to not take it. He said if he took the job he would fire Evan Roberts so he could do afternoon drive. Gio also wondered how Stugotz got into a spat with BT & Sal. He said they are the top 2 ‘radio goons'. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with the Mets beating the Marlins behind 2 home runs by Francisco Lindor. The Yankees beat the Rays as Juan Soto hit 2 home runs. Jose Siri took his time around the bases after his HR, so Juan Soto took 37 seconds to round the bases on his. David Wells was with BT & Sal and they went at each other. Wells called BT a ‘yes man'. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about a guy that almost got killed by a water buffalo and it changed his life. Hour 2 Dianna Russini will be in studio at 8am to talk about the Jets and Giants and the stories she has been involved in with them. It seems like Rob Saleh is not in control of the Jets. Aaron Rodgers is the one in control. We also talked about Davante Adams and the Jets. Gio is concerned that Rodgers is old and coming off a major injury and Saleh and Hackett can't get it done. He doesn't like that combo. C-Lo returns for an update but first Stugotz said he would do away with update anchors if he was in charge. But he would keep Jerry Recco. C-Lo has audio of Aaron Rodgers on with Pardon My Take. He talked about ‘mandatory' mini camps and OTAs. Dianna Russini had Saquon Barkley on her podcast and said it was over when the Giants told him to test the market. In the final segment of the hour, Stugotz is very friendly with Joe Schoen. But, he has not watched any of the Hard Knocks. He has been to the Sphere in Las Vegas a few times. Gio talked about the heightened hearing he got after he took a gummy. Hour 3 Dianna Russini joins us in studio with Gio and Stugotz. We talked to her about Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. Dianna thinks we're going to see a different Rob Saleh this year, in a good way. She doesn't like the way the Jets make it appear Rodgers is running the show. Dianna said there's not a lot of truth with Davante Adams and the Jets. She said the Jets feel set on their offense right now. Dianna stuck around for another segment and we played a clip from her podcast where she interviewed Saquon Barkley about bolting the Giants for the Eagles. Gio can't believe the Giants still have Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback. In the final segment of the hour with Dianna, Haason Reddick is a no show to Jets camp. We also talked to Dianna about Bill Belichick dating a 23 year old and Boomer's belief that teams will not want to hire him because of that. Hour 4 Stugotz reveals that he has a book coming out in November and said he got a huge advance. Nobody believes him. He does have a book coming out, but we don't believe he got a huge advance. C-Lo returns for an update but first we debated whether keeping your golf clubs in the trunk in the summer is bad for them. C-Lo starts with audio of Evan Roberts singing ‘Big Pimpin'. The Moment of The Day involves Stugotz claiming to be a huge WFAN fan but not knowing some people on air. In the final segment of the show, Sal Licata is in studio with Stugotz as they had a radio beef a few months ago.

David Wells was with BT & Sal and they went at each other. Wells called BT a ‘yes man'.
David Wells went on to call pitchers today wimps, and explained his relations with Torre as not as good as he'd like it to be.
Hour 2- David Wells went off on a ton of issues with baseball and the Yankees. Sal and BT react to a lot of what David said.
Hour 1- The New York Yankees have won 9 games in 6 weeks. That's not good enough. But how do they fix this team. BT and Sal differ with their approach.
The New York Yankees have won 9 games in 6 weeks. That's not good enough. But how do they fix this team. BT and Sal differ with their approach. David Wells went off on a ton of issues with baseball and the Yankees. Sal and BT react to a lot of what David said. Sal says, there is no reason to trade away prospects this year. The Yankees aren't good enough to win.
On July 18, 1999, New York Yankees ace David Cone pitches the 14th perfect game of the modern era and the 16th overall in major league history. Cone doesn't reach a three-ball count on a single batter and throws only 88 pitches in shutting down the Montreal Expos, 6-0. Cone becomes the second Yankee in the last year to throw a perfect game at Yankee Stadium, joining David Wells in the exclusive club.July 18, 1987, New York Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly ties a major league record when he homers in his eighth consecutive game. Mattingly connects in a 7-2 loss to the Texas Rangers, matching a 31-year-old record set by Dale Long.July 18, 1970, San Francisco Giants outfielder Willie Mays collects the 3,000th hit of his career - a second inning single against Montreal's Mike Wegener. The umpires stop the game, enabling Mays to be honored in ceremonies that feature Hall of Famer Stan Musial.July 18, 1961, Commissioner Ford Frick makes a controversial ruling in announcing that Babe Ruth's single-season home run record cannot be considered broken unless it is accomplished in 154 or fewer games. Frick's decision will result in two separate records: one for a 154-game season and one for a 162-game season.July 18, 1927, Ty Cobb of the Philadelphia A's collects his 4,000th hit. Cobb's double caroms off the glove of Detroit Tigers outfielder Harry Heilmann. Cobb will hold the record for most hits until 1985, when Pete Rose surpasses him. Hour 1 Both the Mets and Yankees won yesterday. The Yankees actually stole a base and the Mets bullpen didn't implode. We golfed yesterday in the sweltering heat in north Jersey. It took Gio 2 hours and 45 minutes to get home. Boomer, Gio and friends are all bringing their little kids and grandkids to the Mets game today. We talked about adults taking balls at games that were meant for kids. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the Mets win over the Nationals. Jose Iglesias had a great game and Brandon Nimmo hit a HR in his third straight game. Ron Darling did not like Luis Severino not backing up the catcher on a play to the plate. The Yankees won thanks to the bat and the glove of Trent Grisham. Players went into the stands in Charlotte to fight fans after a Copa America match. In the final segment of the hour, Bill Belichick is living his best life now that he's not in football. We also talked about Belichick not getting the Falcons job and if Robert Kraft had something to do with that. Hour 2 Aaron Rodgers was approached by a sad Jets fan who was crying that he wants a Super Bowl. This was at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Gio said this guy represents all Jets fans that want Rodgers to save the organization. Gio was feeling it this time last year, but he's just not feeling it this year. Gio said Rodgers is not the guy who's going to do it. He is more distracted by things that aren't football and is coming off a huge injury for his age. Plus he's got Rob Saleh and Nathaniel Hackett. Boomer thinks the NFL set up the Jets schedule for success. After the Niners, the Jets face 4 teams with questionable quarterbacks. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Nationals again, 6-2. The Mets bullpen didn't even come close to blowing it. The Yankees didn't have a whole lot of offense but it was enough to beat the Rays, 2-1. Trent Grisham had both RBIs and made a great catch late in the game. David Wells was on with Big Cat at Barstool and told a story about almost fighting George Steinbrenner. Jerry has audio of a crying Jets fan who told Aaron Rodgers he wants a Super Bowl. In the final segment of the hour, Gio realized he doesn't have any Mets t-shirts or polos. Gio doesn't know if that's sad or if it's more adult of him. A caller wonders what Boomer thought of Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels on Hard Knocks as Brian Daboll ran them through some plays on the white board. Hour 3 Frankie Borrelli and Trent Ryan from Barstool Sports' Fore Play golf join us in studio. We all played together and the video was just posted to the Fore Play YouTube channel and Twitter. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Nationals as the bullpen actually came through. The Yankees beat the Rays thanks mostly to Trent Grisham. Chris Russo has a list of things he doesn't like about Summer. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about some of the clothing the Fore Play golf guys brought us and it got Boomer talking about Jerry's yellow shirt. Hour 4 Gio talked about Chris McMonigle hating the fact that Yankee fans are saying this feels like 2022. Meanwhile, they were in the ALCS that season. But, they were not anywhere near actually going to the World Series. The Mets looked good, except for Luis Severino not backing up home two plays in a row. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the Yankees beating the Rays 2-1 in St. Pete. Trent Grisham had both RBIs and made a game saving catch. The Mets beat the Nationals again thanks to Jose Iglesias. The Moment of The Day involves a suite at the Mets game and Eddie's stay at a barn. In the final segment of the show, HBO Max announced a Pete Rose documentary for later this month. The NBA got a rights deal for 11 years, $76 BILLION!
David Wells tells Barstool's Big Cat about a time he wanted to fight George Steinbrenner.

Envoy's CEO Brent Lucas and Envoy's CFO David Wells join WTR's Thierry Wuilloud and Tim Regan to discuss the company's Acclaim cochlear implant. The Acclaim has two key differentiating characteristics compared to the current market leading cochlear implants: First, it uses the ear to capture sound, unlike the current standard devices which capture sound externally behind the ear. Second, the device is completely implanted, unlike the other devices which are partially implanted, with elements resting on the skull, typically above the ear, and posing associated challenges (think Lasik vs contact lenses or glasses). Brent and David discuss the Acclaim, its modus operandi, patient profiles, reimbursement issues, approval process, and the company's financial position and needs to shepherd the product through approval and commercialization.

The Revoice Conference was founded in 2018 in order to 'support and encourage gay, lesbian, bisexual, and other same-sex attracted Christians—as well as those who love them—so that all in the Church might be empowered to live in gospel unity while observing the historic Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.' (Revoice, Mission Statement). A year after the initial event, aware that the movement was only just beginning, Dr. Jonathan Master wrote a 'Letter from America' in the Banner Magazine. With the help of the analysis of David Wells, he notes the weakness of the postmodern vision of spirituality that informs Revoice's commitments. He points us back to classical Christian spirituality, founded on a commitment to the holiness of God and a seriousness about sin which is well reflected in our second selection, from Geoff Thomas, entitled 'Take Sin Seriously'.
