Two incredible teachers. One unforgettable conversation. On this week's episode of Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we sit down with Mrs Bullock and Riaan du Rand... two South African educators who are not only changing lives in the classroom but also lighting up TikTok with their humour, honesty and heart. You might recognise Mrs Bullock from her viral dance videos that brought joy to millions, and Riaan from his sharp, funny (and sometimes emotional) “Dear Parents” and “Dear Teachers” series (not to mention that iconic “Diddy” moment). But beyond the likes and shares, they're using their platforms to open up meaningful conversations about education, mental health, connection and the power of showing up authentically.... both online and off. And of course, there is dancing! This episode is full of laughs, goosebumps and real moments that will make you fall in love with teachers all over again.
Today we are sitting down with writer and modern day explorer Riaan Manser. His adventurous journey began the day he decided to quit his job and go for a bike ride... around the entire continent of Africa. This was done without backup, and before personal gps and smartphones were in public circulation. Riaan has since become the holder of numerous world records: first to ride 42000km around Africa, first to lap the islands of Madagascar and Iceland in his kayak, and first to row from Morocco to New York in a 18ft row boat. All this to say having survived through landmines, multiple kidnappings, wild ocean storms, starvation and extreme dehydration — Riaan has a story or two to share with us today.Once again a huge thankyou to Riaan for sharing his time with us!Check out his books and adventures at Riaanmanser.comAnd give him a follow on Instagram and Facebook!-----------------Subscribe to this podcast so you're always up to date. Rugby YouTube star Riaan Louw joined Brett McKay & Harry Jones on The 8-9 Combo Rugby Podcast to ponder a very simple concept: what would you pinch from any other League in the rugby world to make your own league that much better? Whether it's the URC's graphic, the Top 14 budgets, Super Rugby's impatient referees, or League One running Japanese and English language websites and social media, there are plenty of things to envy from other comps around the world. And there are things to avoid too. English accounting, for one obvious example. Plus: the URC, the Premiership, and the Top 14 are all back this weekend, along with Super Rugby Pacific, League One in Japan and Major League Rugby, and for the first time in podcast history, Harry Jones knocks off early.
