À Rodrigues, le temps reste pour l'instant clément, mais la vigilance reste de mise. L'avertissement de cyclone de Classe III est maintenu alors que la forte tempête tropicale Dudzai se rapproche de l'île ce dimanche 18 janvier 2026. Si la situation demeure sous contrôle, les habitants savent que les conditions peuvent se détériorer rapidement au cours de la journée. Certains ont déjà pris leurs dispositions, multipliant préparatifs et mesures de précaution. Entre attente et inquiétude, l'île retient son souffle. À Baie-aux-Huîtres, Tenda Epagne témoigne : « Dans notre région, il n'y a pas encore de pluie. Le ciel est un peu sombre, mais, par précaution, j'ai déjà acheté des provisions. » Pour Jean Clyde Samoisi, actuellement hors de l'île, l'inquiétude est bien présente. À mesure que la forte tempête tropicale Dudzai se rapproche de Rodrigues, il multiplie les appels téléphoniques depuis ce matin pour prendre des nouvelles des membres de sa famille restés sur place. De son côté, Steny partage également son inquiétude. Elle habite dans une région particulièrement exposée et redoute que Dudzai ne reproduise le scénario du cyclone Belaal, qui semblait calme avant de frapper l'île de manière soudaine. « C'est ce qui me fait le plus peur », confie-t-elle. Face à cette situation, Rillo Ravina, directeur du Rodrigues Emergency Operations Command (REOC), se mobilise et appelle la population à rester vigilante, en insistant particulièrement auprès des éleveurs et des pêcheurs, secteurs les plus exposés aux risques liés à la tempête. Pour rappel, un avertissement de cyclone de Classe 3 est en vigueur à Rodrigues.

L'alerte de cyclone de Classe III reste en vigueur à Rodrigues alors que la tempête tropicale Dudzai se rapproche de l'île. Bien que le temps soit pour l'instant calme, les autorités appellent la population à la prudence. Pêcheurs et éleveurs sécurisent bateaux et installations, tandis que les planteurs surveillent de près leurs cultures. Jessica Castor, une planteuse à Rodrigues, se dit sereine mais reste attentive aux vents. Elle estime que la tempête ne devrait pas causer de dégâts majeurs pour l'ensemble du secteur agricole. Jean Perrine, pêcheur local, a déjà pris les dispositions nécessaires pour protéger son bateau, mis en sécurité à terre. Steny, qui réside dans une zone particulièrement vulnérable, redoute que Dudzai ne frappe comme le cyclone Belal. « C'est ce qui me fait le plus peur », avoue-t-elle. Les perturbations se font également sentir dans le transport aérien. Tino Emilien, qui devait se rendre à Maurice, a dû rentrer chez lui après l'annulation des vols au départ de Rodrigues. Face à l'approche de Dudzai, les commerçants adaptent leur activité. Louna Speville a fermé son commerce par précaution, précisant que dès les premières heures de la matinée, de nombreux clients se sont approvisionnés en produits de première nécessité, notamment la farine. Face à cette situation, Rillo Ravina, directeur du Rodrigues Emergency Operations Command (REOC), appelle la population à rester vigilante et à suivre toutes les consignes de sécurité.
