Trying to Conceive Is Affecting Your Relationship? How to Stay Connected Through Fertility Struggles | #178

Trying to conceive can affect so much more than your fertility. It can change your sex life, create resentment, bring old trauma and insecurities to the surface, and leave couples feeling more like roommates than partners. In this episode, Dr. Leah breaks down some of the most common relationship dynamics she sees during a difficult TTC or infertility journey, including the project manager and avoider, silent grievers, sex on schedule, and the unequal burden dynamic. She also shares practical ways to communicate your needs, involve your partner, protect intimacy, shift unhealthy patterns, and create a stronger foundation for the parenthood you're working toward. Most importantly, if trying to conceive has changed your relationship, you're not alone, and it doesn't mean your relationship is doomed.00:00 Trailer + Intro01:43 How Trying to Conceive Can Affect Your Relationship02:47 When TTC Starts Changing Your Relationship05:07 When Sex Becomes a Chore06:43 The Vicious Cycle of Libido and Disconnection10:06 How Hard Times Bring Old Wounds to the Surface11:43 When Fertility Changes the Relationship Dynamic16:04 The Project Manager and the Avoider18:39 Give Your Partner the Map20:06 The Silent Grievers21:13 Sex on Schedule and Unequal Burden25:35 The Hidden Grief of Trying to Conceive27:30 The Micro-Griefs Women Carry30:32 When Your Partner Doesn't Know How to Show Up33:05 Creating the Support You Actually Need35:30 Reconnecting With Joy and Your Identity37:46 Giving Your Partner a Clear Role41:37 Letting Go of Control43:48 Protecting Polarity and Connection49:28 What Your Partner Can Actually Do51:50 Protecting Your Relationship During TTC55:07 Breaking the Resentment and Disconnection Cycle57:27 Getting Support and Processing the Hard Stuff60:44 Building a Stronger Foundation for Parenthood63:03 You Are Not AloneResources From This Chapter: The Queen's Code book by Alison Armstrong - https://www.amazon.com/Queens-Code-Alison-Armstrong/dp/B01DAYC348/The Queen's Code Podcast Episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0Kx1WKOBj6ByS9BWrMm3fH?si=afc6a448f29a40a1 Healthy As A Mother Podcast | YouTubeHealthy As A Mother Podcast | InstagramHealthy As A Mother Podcast | TikTokHealthy As A Mother Podcast | Merch StoreFind more from Dr. Leah:Dr. Leah Gordon | InstagramDr. Leah Gordon | WebsiteWomanhood Wellness | WebsiteFind more from Dr. Morgan:Dr. Morgan MacDermott | InstagramDr. Morgan MacDermott | WebsiteUse code HEALTHYMOTHER and save 10% at EarthleyUse code HEALTHYMOTHER and save 15% at RedmondFor 20% off your first order at Needed, use code HEALTHYMOTHERSave $260 at Lumebox, use code HEALTHYASAMOTHERUse code HAAM and save 10% at Fond

All THINGS HIP HOP EPISODE #1

Young MCThe Man Behind the Music That Made the World Bust a MoveSome songs become hits. Some songs become memories. And then there are songs that become part of the language.“Bust A Move” is one of them.Listen to the new single "I'm on one"In this episode of The VIBE with Kelly Cardenas, we honor Young MC — Marvin Young — a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum artist, songwriter, performer, and genuine pioneer of hip-hop whose music helped bring rap into the center of popular culture. In 1990, Young MC made history when “Bust A Move” won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance, becoming one of the defining songs of hip-hop's golden era. The track reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 40 weeks. His debut album, Stone Cold Rhymin', became a platinum success. But Young MC's legacy goes far beyond one legendary song. Before stepping into the spotlight himself, he co-wrote “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina” for Tone Lōc — two songs that helped define the sound of late-1980s hip-hop and its crossover into mainstream music. He was also a USC economics graduate who somehow went from writing rhymes between college assignments to becoming one of the most recognizable voices in hip-hop. And yes, the story of how Bust A Move came together is almost as remarkable as the song itself. For anyone who grew up with “Bust A Move,” “Principal's Office,” “I Come Off,” “Know How,” or the sound of late-'80s and early-'90s hip-hop playing through the speakers, this is more than a conversation with an artist. It is a celebration of a soundtrack to a generation.Young MC helped prove that hip-hop could be clever, funny, intelligent, infectious, commercially successful — and still unmistakably authentic.More than three decades later, Bust A Move continues to appear in movies, television, playlists, parties, sporting events and across generations. That kind of staying power isn't nostalgia. That's legacy.

Welcome to another episode of Perspective Checks where I sit down with friends and folks from the TTRPG world and discuss what they love about this wonderful hobby!   This month I'm honored to have sat down and talked with one of my absolute favorite game designers Cezar Capacle! You've heard me play multiple of his games on this feed such as Wraithound and Midnight Melodies, and believe me I will play more of them!   Cezar is a Brazilian game designer now living on the island of Madeira and not only does he put out a lot of games, all of which are incredibly quality, his breadth of genres and mechanics and concepts is truly a marvel to behold. We talk about his philosophy of letting all of your ideas bounce around in your head like a game design hadron collider to his work ethic of diligent vs. inspired creativity which helps him capitalize on those a-ha moments. Honestly, if you take nothing else from this episode, this was an amazing tip to just show up and do the work so you find your groove, hone your craft, and then the rest will come easily when the muse comes to bless you with great game ideas.   But most importantly, we talk about his upcoming game Mausworn: Brave Tails on Perilous Trails, a Mausritter-meets-Ironsworn game of mice adventurers on epic quests. This game feels like it was made FOR ME, and you can be I'm going to play it on this podcast when I can! Instead of just taking bits and mashing up the two systems, Cezar has carefully crafted OSR sensibilities and Ironsworn's narrative generation into a whole new thing and it. sounds. amazing.   Cezar's YouTube channel has multiple videos on his process with Mausworn I highly recommend!   I hope you enjoy this chat, I would love to bother and chat with Cezar every day about games if I could. Go get his games and tell me (and him!) how excellent your experience was, you won't be sorry.   ----more----   Join the DMs After Dark Discord channel!   I made a Ko-Fi if you feel absurdly generous and want to help cover podcast hosting costs & all the upkeep. Self-Focused vs. Task-Focused Attention & How Great Things Are Done by a Series of Small Things [277]

Joy Lab Podcast

This final episode of our Confidence series ties everything together: the inner work of accepting discomfort and self-doubt, defusing from self-critical thoughts, and clarifying values now becomes the foundation for outer action. You can build confidence through the daily practice of taking small committed actions, again and again, in alignment with your values, even when you don't feel ready.  We'll dig into strategies like psychological flexibility: the ability to be present with thoughts, feelings, and sensations without letting them stop you from doing what matters. With that flexibility, we can shift from self-focused attention (consumed by what others are thinking, picking apart your own performance in real time) to task-focused attention. Self-focused attention takes the prefrontal cortex partially offline and redirects computing power to threat-detection and self-monitoring. Shifting attention to the task brings it back online. You think more clearly. You respond more flexibly. You perform closer to the level you're actually capable of. The practice is simple to describe and genuinely hard to do: when you notice self-focused attention taking over, pause, ask "What does this moment call for?" and do the next best thing, imperfectly. You'll get pulled back into self-monitoring. That's okay. That's actually the practice. That's where the real strength is built.    About: The Joy Lab Podcast is an Ambie-nominated podcast that blends science and soul to help you cope better with stress, anxiety, and depression. More about Victor Frankl's work from VFIA.   Full transcript here   Common Questions: Q: How do I actually start building confidence when I don't feel confident at all? A: Start with small committed actions (not big goals) that are aligned with your values and take those small actions even when you feel doubtful or uncomfortable. These small actions are the most important starting point, they collect evidence your nervous system can learn from (I can do it!), and the feeling of confidence can follow those small actions.   Q: Why does my anxiety get worse when I'm in the middle of doing something I care about? A: That's self-focused attention. Your energy and focus gets redirected from the task to self-monitoring and threat-detection; this episode explains the neuroscience, introduces the shift to task-focused attention, and gives you a simple one-question reset to bring your prefrontal cortex back online.   Key moments: [00:00] Welcome to the final episode of the Confidence series — committed action, the last step [00:30] Recap of the series: Ep. 274 (being with discomfort), Ep. 275 (unhooking from thoughts), Ep. 276 (clarifying values) — now it's time to act [01:00] Quoting Dr. Russ Harris: "The actions of confidence come first; the feelings of confidence come later." [01:30] Henry: up until now, we've done the inner work — now it's time for the outer work [02:00] Committed action: moving toward what matters even when uncomfortable, doubtful, or uncertain [02:30] ACT's psychological flexibility: being present with thoughts, feelings, and sensations without letting them stop you [03:30] The amygdala learns through action: "Oh, I just handled that. This isn't as dangerous as I thought." Over time the alarm quiets — not because you forced it, but because you gave it evidence that you can do hard things [04:30] Aimee: psychological flexibility is at the heart of courage and confidence — it's not the absence of self-doubt, it's the ability to be with it [06:00] Experiencing anxiety during a task is not a reliable predictor of performance — that is liberating [07:00] The real performance problem: not the anxiety, but the anxiety about the anxiety — self-focused attention [07:30] Self-focused attention: running assessments about being judged, picking apart your performance in real time, obsessing over the shaky voice or red patches [08:00] Russ Harris's hands-over-eyes metaphor: your thoughts are your hands — self-focused attention is covering your eyes with them [09:30] Cognitive defusion creates the space — unhook from the thoughts, shift attention to the task [10:00] The task-focused question: "What does this moment call for? What can I do right now?" [11:00] Self-focused attention takes the prefrontal cortex partially offline; shifting to task-focused attention brings the prefrontal cortex back online — clearer thinking, more flexibility, better performance [12:30] You don't have to wait until self-critical thoughts stop — you can have them AND shift your attention to the task [14:00] You'll get pulled back into self-focus — that's okay; that's another repetition, another chance to reset [15:30] This is why Joy Lab's experiments lean on mindfulness — the practice of returning attention is the whole skill [16:00] Rather than big hairy audacious goals — work on what we've already built: defusing thoughts, clarifying values, task-focused attention [17:30] As confidence builds in one area, it spreads to others — "I can do hard things" becomes a foundation [19:00] Confidence is not a destination — it's an ongoing practice; some days self-doubt is louder, and the practice is showing up anyway [20:00] Dr. Anne Wilson Schaef: "Perfectionism is not a quest for the best. It is a pursuit of the worst in ourselves." [20:30] Small imperfect actions are part of the best of who we are — that resilient nature to take small steps that build [20:45] Joy Lab final Experiment for the Element of Confidence is available [21:00] Closing wisdom from Vincent van Gogh: "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."    Like and follow Joy Lab on Socials:  Instagram Linkedin Facebook YouTube   Please remember that this content is for informational and educational purposes only. Has your teen ever looked you directly in the eye and told you something you knew was not true?Teen lying can make you question more than the story your teen is telling you. It can make you question your relationship, your judgment, and whether you can trust anything they say. When you are parenting on your own, this can feel especially destabilizing. You may not have another parent in the home to compare notes with, and you may feel completely responsible for figuring out what is true and how serious the situation is.Your instinct may be to ask more questions, present more evidence, increase the consequences, or keep arguing until your teen finally admits what happened. Unfortunately, turning the conversation into a courtroom often creates more defensiveness and denial—not more honesty. In Episode 283 of The Single Parenting Reset Show, Tess Connolly, LCSW, explains how you can address dishonesty without destroying communication with your tween or teen.In this episode, you will learn:Why tweens and teens lie, hide information, or tell partial truthsThe difference between healthy privacy and unsafe secrecyHow to regulate yourself before investigating what happenedWhy trap questions and forced confessions usually backfireHow to begin with the facts you reliably knowHow to choose consequences that connect directly to the behaviorWhat your teen can do to begin rebuilding trustWhen repeated lying may require additional professional supportYou do not have to pretend the lie did not matter in order to protect your relationship. You also do not have to damage the relationship in order to hold your teen accountable. The goal is to make honesty more possible while main⭐Got screen time problems at home? A: This episode teaches cognitive defusion, a practice from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) that loosens the grip self-critical thoughts have on you without fighting or suppressing them; two specific techniques that we added in this episode (the "thank you, brain" method and psychological distancing) give you practical tools to use in the moment.   Q: What's the difference between managing stress and actually changing my relationship with difficult thoughts? A: Stress management techniques are like inner tubes that are genuinely helpful for keeping your head above water. Cognitive defusion goes deeper, shifting you from reactive management to a more fundamental change in your relationship with the thought; this episode explains the distinction and why both have a place.   Key moments: [00:00] Welcome back to the Element of Confidence — introducing cognitive defusion as this episode's core skill [01:00] Sometimes thoughts aren't peaceful branches on a stream — they're the Bunker Hills Wave Pool, circa late '80s [02:30] The lifeguard metaphor as an upgrade to the peaceful river observer — seasoned, present, with a broader view [03:00] The kinds of thoughts that come in like waves: "I'm never gonna get this. I'll embarrass myself. I always screw up. Everyone will think I'm an imposter." [03:30] When thoughts overwhelm: stress response surges, the only thought becomes "how do I get out of this?" [03:45] Reminder: if thoughts are feeling truly overwhelming, reaching out for extra support — therapist, NAMI helpline, 988 — is always an option [04:30] When we stop fusing with or fighting thoughts, they start to get smaller over time [05:30] How fusion works physically: heart rate rises, palms sweat, decisions made from the fused belief [06:00] The thought is not reality — it's neural activity generated by past experience, fear, or ingrained patterns [06:30] Cognitive defusion: loosening the grip, creating space between you and the thought [07:30] Defusion vs. positive thinking or cognitive restructuring: this doesn't fight the thought, it changes the relationship with it [08:30] Aimee introduces self-as-content vs. self-as-context from ACT [09:30] Stress management as inner tubes: helpful for riding waves, but you're still in the pool managing the waves [10:00] Self-as-context: the lifeguard — noticing "I've seen that wave before," seeing the bigger picture, able to take wiser action [10:30] From the lifeguard perspective: "The waves are uncomfortable, but they'll die down" — and you can give yourself true support [11:30] Henry: stress management is great and important — AND it keeps us in reactive mode; defusion is a different level [13:30] Henry on perfectionism and defusion: if you believe you need to be perfect to be confident, you'll become hypervigilant about thoughts [14:30] The truth: you don't have to be perfect; when you accept doubt and mistakes as normal, imperfect thoughts become no big deal [15:00] Aimee: strategies for defusion — not to dispute the thought, but to notice it and loosen its grip [17:00] Strategy 1 — Psychological distancing: "I'm noticing that I'm having the thought that..." instead of just "I'm going to blow it"   [19:00] Adding levity: say the phrase in the silliest voice you can — trailer narrator, romance novel narrator, sports commentator [20:00] Henry introduces Strategy 2 — "Thank you, brain" [20:30] How it works: immediately positions you as observer; paradoxically accepts rather than fights; carries humor that defuses in the moment [22:30] Aimee: this is not about forcing a feeling or suppressing thoughts — it's about letting them matter less [23:00] Connection to last Element (Humility) and right-sizing: letting thoughts take up the space they need, no more, no less [23:30] Preview of next episode: values — what we care about, so we can choose where to put our energy and take action toward confidence [23:45] Closing wisdom from Eckhart Tolle: "The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive... It is not so much that you use your mind wrongly — you usually don't use it at all. It uses you."    Like and follow Joy Lab on Socials:  Instagram Linkedin Facebook YouTube   Please remember that this content is for informational and educational purposes only. Welcome to another episode of Perspective Checks where I sit down with friends and folks from the TTRPG world and discuss what they love about this wonderful hobby!   This month I'm joined by Ciera, a.k.a. RagePandaPajamas around the internet! Ciera is a media theory enthusiast who loves to look at and review TTRPG actual plays through a critical academic lens, as well as an author on the blog The Fandomentals, a theater & live production designer, and designer of the GM-less game Leave A Message After the Tone!   We don't get anywhere as deep as we could have into this topic, but the idea of looking into the evolving landscape of actual play performances in all of their forms from audio to video to written, with various intentions and goals to achieve different experiences was such an interesting talk. We discuss a lot about what it means to put your game out there in the world for an audience and how you don't need to strive to be like the bigger productions or do something entirely new to find your niche, but you do need to commit to learning and improving your craft.   Some of the books Ciera mentions are: Radio Drama & other essays on audio dramas by Tim Crook The Fantasy Role-Playing Game: A New Performing Art by Daniel Mackay Watch Us Roll: Essays on Actual Play by Shelly Jones et al. Every coach has had that moment. You're staring at your calendar, seeing a client's name, and feeling a knot in your stomach. Maybe they keep canceling. Maybe they're not doing the work. Maybe you've been dancing around a problem for weeks because you don't know how to bring it up. The difficult client conversation is the one most coaches avoid — until they can't anymore. And by then, the issue has often gotten worse. This episode is the finale of our five-part series, "The Conversations That Build Coaching Businesses." We're wrapping up with the conversation most coaches dread — and the one that can make the biggest difference in your coaching practice and your peace of mind. I'm walking you through five of the most common difficult client situations, what's really going on underneath each one, and exactly how to have the conversation with clarity and kindness. In this episode, I cover: Why coaches avoid difficult conversations (and what happens when we do) The client who's not doing the work — how to name the pattern without shaming, and when to have a bigger conversation about fit The client who keeps canceling or rescheduling — how to hold your boundary while staying compassionate The client who wants you to tell them what to do — how to hold the coaching stance without being rigid The client who's made no progress in weeks (or months) — how to address the plateau and explore what's really going on When and how to end a coaching relationship — how to have the conversation with integrity and grace A simple framework for any difficult conversation: curiosity, honesty, kindness, clarity, follow-through Series episodes: Episode 89: How to Get More Coaching Clients Through Referrals (Without Feeling Salesy) Episode 90: How to Network as a Coach (Even If You Hate Networking) Episode 92: How to Follow Up After a Discovery Call That Didn't Convert (Without Feeling Salesy or Desperate) Episode 93: The Price Conversation: What to Say, Whether to Post Your Rates, and How to Pre-Qualify with Confidence Episode 94: Five Difficult Client Conversations Every Coach Needs to Know How to Have (Without Damaging the Relationship) ← You are here Resources & Links: Get Clients Now FREE Masterclass Business Building Support — anytime The Confident Coaching Skills Intensive — now available self-guided Get It Done: Private Coaching with Wendy

What if the marketing content you create today was still bringing in leads, clicks, affiliate income, and clients a year from now?Because that's exactly what Pinterest can do.And if you're anything like me, you've probably been treating Pinterest like that app you open when you're planning a trip, redecorating your apartment, or convincing yourself you'll start meal prepping next week. But after this conversation with Pinterest strategist Laura England, I'm officially reconsidering everything. In this episode, we're talking about why creators, travel bloggers, business owners, coaches, and service providers need to stop chasing one-hit-wonder content and start building marketing assets that compound over time.Laura shares how she grew a Pinterest account from virtually zero to over a million monthly impressions, why Pinterest works more like Google than Instagram, and the exact strategy she uses to help clients generate long-term traffic without posting 24/7.If you've been relying entirely on Instagram, TikTok, or short-form content to grow your business, this episode might just change your marketing strategy forever. In This Episode, We Cover:Why Pinterest is one of the most underrated marketing platforms in 2026The difference between short-term marketing and sustainable marketingHow Pinterest traffic compounds over timeWhy creators and business owners should think like search engines, not social media algorithmsThe Pinterest SEO strategy every beginner should knowHow to use Pinterest Trends to predict future search trafficCommon Pinterest mistakes that hurt reach and visibilityHow travel creators can use Pinterest to drive blog traffic, affiliate sales, and inquiriesWhy linking directly to affiliate links can hurt your Pinterest strategyHow to create Pinterest boards that actually help the algorithm understand your brandThe role of keywords, alt text, and SEO in Pinterest growthWhy LinkedIn and Pinterest are Laura's favorite sustainable marketing platformsThe surprising reason most creators quit Pinterest too earlyKey TakeawaysPinterest is a Search Engine, Not a Social PlatformMost creators approach Pinterest like Instagram. What if the reason your marriage still feels disconnected… isn't because you don't understand the problem? What if it's because you haven't yet stepped into what actually creates change? In this episode, we're talking about the place so many women get stuck—especially after they've already started doing the inner work. You're more aware now. You're catching your thoughts. You're recognizing the patterns that have been creating distance in your marriage. But the truth is…your intimacy, connection, and desire still feel the sameAnd now you're wondering:“Why doesn't this feel different?”“Why do I still feel disconnected from my husband?”“Am I doing something wrong?”Let's gently challenge that…What if nothing has gone wrong? What if you're simply in the middle of transformation?⸻In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why awareness alone won't rebuild intimacy or emotional connection in your marriageThe hidden gap between knowing what's wrong and actually changing how you show upWhy your brain defaults to old patterns—even when you know betterHow to move from being a meaning maker to a pattern breaker in your marriage⸻The Truth About Intimacy & Connection in Midlife MarriageHere's what most women don't realize:Insight does not equal transformationYou don't change your marriage by:hearing something onceunderstanding it intellectuallyor agreeing with itYou change your marriage by:practicing a new way of showing up—moment by momentBecause even when your thinking starts to shift…your reactions will still default to what's familiarAnd that doesn't mean you're failing. It means you're growing.⸻The Missing Piece: Moving From Awareness to ActionAwareness is powerful…but it's only the beginning.Real change happens when you:slow down your reactionschoose what you want to create in the momentand intentionally show up differentlyBecause this is where intimacy starts to rebuild:not from knowing more…but from doing something newThat's not a sign to stop. It's a sign you're breaking old patterns.⸻A Faith-Based Perspective on Real ChangeThis isn't just mindset work…this is spiritual transformation.“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2Renewal doesn't happen in a moment. It happens through repetition.Every time you choose:openness instead of shutting downconnection instead of withdrawaltruth instead of assumptionyou are partnering with God in rebuilding your marriage.⸻Your Next Step This week, I want you to take what you learned in the last episode even further. When something happens in your marriage, pause and ask:What happened? What did I make it mean? What do I want to create instead? How am I going to show up differently right now?Not later. In the moment.Because this is how:emotional connection growsintimacy rebuildsand desire begins to return⸻Ready to Go Deeper? If this episode spoke to you, come join me inside my private Facebook community:Empty Nest Wives: Rebuilding Intimacy & ConnectionThis is where we go deeper into:rebuilding emotional connectionrestoring intimacy and romancebreaking old patterns in your marriageand creating a relationship that feels alive againOr send me a message. I would love to personally connect with you.Friend…Awareness is not the finish line. It's the doorway. And when you begin making new decisions—right in the middle of real-life moments—everything in your marriage can begin to shift.I'm not sharing this from theory…This is what God has walked me through in my own marriage. And I believe with everything in me:He can do the same for you.⸻Related EpisodesEP 316: My Sex Drive Isn't There… I Want Emotional Connection and IntimacyEP 315: Don't Know How to Get It Back? What if the problem isn't your desire… but the meaning you're giving it?What if nothing is actually wrong with your marriage…but the way you're interpreting what you're feeling is quietly creating distance? In today's episode, we're having a real and honest conversation about something so many midlife Christian wives are silently carrying:“I love my husband… but my sex drive just isn't there.”You want emotional connectionYou want intimacy and romanceYou want to feel close againBut instead…You feel disconnected, confused, and maybe even a little broken. And here's where most women go: “Something must be wrong with me” “Something must be off in our marriage” “Why does this feel so hard now?”But let's gently challenge that…What if your desire isn't gone? What if it's being shaped—blocked even—by the meaning you're assigning to your experience?⸻In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why your lack of sex drive doesn't automatically mean disconnection in your marriageHow your thought patterns are influencing your intimacy, desire, and emotional connectionThe powerful truth behind Romans 12:2 and renewing your mind in marriageWhy connection often comes before desire (not the other way around)A simple 4-step process to help you rebuild intimacy, shift your thinking, and feel closer to your husband again⸻The Truth Most Women Miss About Intimacy in Midlife MarriageYou're not just experiencing your marriage…you are interpreting it.And that interpretation is shaping:how you feel about your husbandhow you show up in your marriageand even your desire for intimacy and romanceWhen you start believing: “We're disconnected” “Something's wrong” “I should feel different”You unknowingly create pressure… distance… and resistance. But when you shift the meaning?Everything begins to open again.⸻A Faith-Based Shift That Changes EverythingThis isn't just mindset…this is biblical.“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2When you change the meaning you're giving your marriage…you begin to experience your marriage differently. And that's where intimacy starts to rebuild—not from pressure, but from connection, safety, and openness.⸻Your Next Step (Don't Skip This)This week, I want you to notice:What am I feeling? What am I making it mean?Is that actually true? What's another way I could see this? Then invite God into it:“Lord, show me what's true here.”⸻

Welcome back to the monthly design diaries series of 2026 where I am holding myself accountable toward putting out more games.   For the first Design Diaries of the year that isn't about Gardens of Rust, I decided to go back to what was going to be the original Design Diaries episode of 2026... my two-player buddy cop TTRPG Decktectives.   In this game, the two players sit down and create a pair of detectives or investigators who are going to solve a crime in around 1 hour of real time like an episode your favorite procedural using a deck of cards and a Three Act Structure with "commercial breaks."   The game mechanics are very simple, using cards from small hands to overcome prompts and obstacles flipped from a 3x3 grid representing each Act of the investigation to create piles of Clues & Complications. By the end, hopefully your duo has amassed enough evidence to put away the culprit (or solve the crime and let it slide).   I'm confident this one's done design-wise, I just need to get the layout done.
