We're wrapping up this month's Marketing Methods series with a reminder that social media is just one way to create loyal shoppers for your farmers market operation, and not necessarily the best one. Nowadays rules and algorithms and reach seem to change daily, at the whim of the platforms. Email newsletters let you control your list and your timing, and personalize your outreach to build connections. How do you maximize those results? In this episode, Erika Tebbens, the Director of Impact at woman-owned and woman-led local food marketing agency Taste the Local Difference, makes a convincing case for breathing new life into your email marketing campaigns. Listen in to this exclusive excerpt of Erika's presentation at the 2025 In Tents National Farmers Market Conference. We've skipped the parts of her session that relied heavily on visuals. Listen in for expert tips on how to keep your content in front of shoppers who will keep coming back to the market, as well as: Determining the best email platform Building and expanding your own contact list Including effective calls to action
For our annual Live from InTents episode, Tent Talk producer Leandra Hays sat down earlier this month with almost 30 attendees of the hundreds at the national Farmers Market Conference in San Diego. They shared what keeps them going and what rewards them in the face of farmers market challenges. Tune in to hear all about it.
In this episode, I sit down with Hart Lambur, the co-founder of Risk Labs, the team behind UMA and Across Protocol, two projects solving some of the biggest challenges in crypto—cross-chain interoperability and on-chain data verification.Ethereum has scaled, but in the process, it's fragmented into over 50 Layer 2s, creating a messy user experience. Hart and his team are pushing for a cross-chain intent standard (ERC-7683) to make blockchain transactions feel instant and seamless—because let's be real, waiting minutes (or days) to move assets across chains is a joke.We also dive deep into:The “two-second rule” for crypto UX and why speed is kingHow ERC-7683 enables cross-chain swaps without waiting for block confirmationsWhy Ethereum's fragmentation problem could kill adoption if we don't fix itThe future of prediction markets and decentralized oraclesHow Chainlink maintained dominance in the Oracle space—and whether that's changingWhy AI-powered agents will need blockchain-based dispute resolutionIf you're into DeFi, cross-chain tech, and the future of Ethereum, this episode is packed with insights you won't want to miss.Key Takeaways:✅ Ethereum has scaled, but it now feels like 50 separate chains—interoperability must be solved.✅ The two-second UX rule: If a transaction takes longer, users will lose focus and abandon it.✅ ERC-7683 introduces cross-chain intents, allowing instant swaps by having solvers front transactions.✅ Optimistic oracles (used by UMA) enable decentralized dispute resolution, powering prediction markets like PolyMarket.✅ AI agents will need on-chain contract enforcement—blockchain oracles will play a crucial role.Listen & Subscribe:

Wrapping up our Recruit and Retain series, we come back to what makes it all come together: shoppers. Remember, we heard from Corinna Smith earlier this month that increasing market attendance is great, but what's critical is how many of those attendees are buying something at the market. Are they filling those shopping bags and baskets? Then retaining farmers and vendors is a slam dunk. That income will allow you to retain staff. It's a whole ecosystem right there. In the final installment of this series, let's talk about some Farmers Market pro tips, including: Followers are fine, engagement is epic More attendees is good, more buyers is key Email lists may be more secure than social platforms Co-op marketing with local businesses is golden It's not QUITE too late to register for this year's InTents, the National Farmers Market Conference, in San Diego March 10th -12th and live online. Moving between chains is a hassle.Whether you're swapping, bridging, or managing liquidity across ecosystems, users face clunky interfaces, slow execution, and unnecessary risks. What if that friction disappeared?Enter Shogun, a trading platform that makes every chain feel like one. Using intent-based execution, automated routing, and solver-driven auctions, Shogun lets traders move assets smoothly across Solana, Ethereum, Move-based chains, and new rollups. No more juggling wallets, bridge delays, or split liquidity. The concept is straightforward: Specify what you want, and Shogun finds the best way there. It uses TEV (Trader Extractable Value) to optimize trades for user benefit rather than extract value. By combining centralized and decentralized solvers, trades settle faster and more efficiently. This could be the next step toward a true single-chain experience. With integrations on Phantom, MetaMask, and Telegram, it meets traders where they are. What happens when trading across chains becomes as simple as trading on one?Let's get into it.Join The Rollup Edge: https://members.therollup.coWebsite: https://therollup.co/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1P6ZeYd..Podcast: https://therollup.co/category/podcastFollow us on X: https://www.x.com/therollupcoFollow Rob on X: https://www.x.com/robbie_rollupFollow Andy on X: https://www.x.com/ayyyeandyJoin our TG group: https://t.me/+8ARkR_YZixE5YjBhThe Rollup Disclosures: https://therollup.co/the-rollup-discl

There's no one right way to manage vendor applications for your farmers market. Some managers prefer simple inquiry emails before a detailed form. Some market management platforms integrate applications with online maps and vendor profiles. We all need to know business names and exactly what will be sold. Inspired by Cosmos' IBC ethos, Anoma takes interoperability a step further, from VM (virtual machine) to IM (intent machine). While traditional dApps that run on virtual machines require step-by-step instructions to achieve a desired outcome, Anoma's universal intent machine design allows users to simply define their end-results which are then aggregated and an optimal combination of intents is selected - cross-chain, simple, elegant. Moreover, intents also enable on-chain privacy, a concept explored by Namada.Topics covered in this episode:The vision behind AnomaOS for decentralised applicationsWhat is Anoma?Building dApps with AnomaNative generalised intentsAnoma's L1 blockchainThe importance of decentralisationOn-chain privacyNamadaThe collapse of the banking systemRoadmapEpisode links:Adrian Brink on TwitterAnoma on TwitterNamada on TwitterSponsors:Gnosis: Gnosis builds decentralized infrastructure for the Ethereum ecosystem, since 2015. Managing a farmers market is just like managing a craft fair or fall festival, right? Yes. And no. There are similarities and there are big differences between coordinating vendors on a weekly basis and once a year. When experienced annual event managers Patricia and Brett Keller took over a local farmers market after the sudden departure of its founding manager, they learned a few things. Are you a large scale event coordinator thinking about taking on a farmers market, or a market manager planning an annual fundraiser? Listen in while they share those lessons, including: • Ease into changes to an established market to avoid mutiny • Relationships are key to both kinds of events • A permit is a permit is a permit, right? Not always • Recruiting help once a year is different than weekly staffing Today's episode of Tent Talk, the Farmers Market Podcast, is supported by InTents, the National Farmers Market Conference.

Jeroen Develter is the Chief Operating Officer at Persistence Labs. Persistence One aims to become the gateway for Bitcoin Interoperability, powered by Intents, secured by Bitcoin. The solution ensures seamless movement of BTC with fast, zero slippage, cross-chain swaps. Why you should listen Persistence One is developing a Bitcoin interoperability solution for Bitcoin Layer 2 and related assets, powered by Intents and secured by the Bitcoin network. The rapid rollout of Bitcoin Layer 2s and sidechains has led to a significant increase in BTC variants. These tokens are neither fungible nor easily swapped, creating a fragmented and complex ecosystem that could hinder the immense potential growth of BTCfi. Leveraging years of experience in the DeFi and interoperability space, Persistence One is addressing this issue head-on by offering fast, zero-slippage, cross-chain swaps, enabling BTC to move seamlessly between different versions. Our solution will leverage scalable liquidity without limitations, driven by cross-chain intents. For the widespread adoption of BTCfi, Bitcoin must be able to move seamlessly. With this vision, Persistence One aims to become the gateway for Bitcoin ecosystem swaps and a cornerstone hub for all BTC variants. We have a mixed bag of topics in this month's Ask the Pros episode. With hot weather advisories, fires and floods becoming more common, we've been getting a lot of questions about when closing a market is justified. Weather or not, farmers need to move their produce so it's not a decision managers take lightly. We're chatting about that and a variety of other questions from our listeners and our online community today Listen in while we chat about these quandaries and more: • Balancing safety, comfort and farmers' and vendors' need to make a living • What to do when you're selling out mid-market • Managing vendor to vendor conflicts that go public • Listening closely to find the source of customer complaints Remember, Super Early Bird registration for InTents, the National Farmers Market Conference 2025 starts THIS Thursday. Watch this space and our email newsletter for all the details and save.
We're about to share so much news about 2025's InTents: the National Farmers Market Conference. Today, we're starting with the announcement that the Request for Proposals opens in just a few days. We're adding a special farmer and vendor track in 2025, so possibilities abound. Are you ready to share your expertise about a topic with market managers or participants from throughout the US, Canada and beyond? Submit that proposal! Do you have a need that you're hoping a speaker or panel will address? Pop us an email or a DM and we'll add it to our targets. Listen in for some tips on how to create a successful proposal, then stick around as we look back on attendees at the 2022 Conference sharing what makes them keep doing this important work.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of many farmers markets and we know that even market managers are sometimes labeled as volunteers. That labor of love is admirable. Is it legal? That depends, and it's complicated. Wendy Chen joined us at InTents, the National Farmers Market Conference earlier this year. Her work at the Center for Agricultural and Food Systems at Vermont Law School includes the newest section of the Farmers Market Legal Toolkit, specifically focused on the role of volunteers at farmers markets. Listen in as we discuss the answers to these questions and more: What kind of organizations can host volunteers? Do the market bucks you give volunteers put you at risk? Who is responsible if a volunteer is injured at the market? Can a full time manager be a volunteer? What penalties come with misclassifying team members? Find the new volunteer resource and more at farmersmarketlegaltoolkit.org
A problem we've been fiddling with in the interoperability landscape is this idea behind achieving maximum extensibility with regards to the creation of hundreds of new chains. We know that if there's going to be an overwhelming amount of chains, we need solutions that are permissionless and easy to spin up on new chains. For today's podcast, we sat down with Catalyst CTO Alexander, to discuss this situation and more. We talked about the concept of the unit of liquidity, which enables asynchronous asset swaps between different pools on different chains. We went on to discuss the best way to tackle the N-squared problem in which traditional cross-chain solutions require each chain to know the state of every other chain. We went on to talk about the idea of logic-dependent swaps, which allow for condition-based transactions. These swaps can be set to execute only if specific conditions are met, opening up novel use cases for onchain users. Catalyst is already live on the mainnet with three OP stack chains: Blast, OP, and Base, with plans to extend to more ecosystems over time. As the cross-chain landscape continues to evolve, with more app-specific chains emerging, Catalyst is aiming to solve this extensibility dilemma to address the challenges of scaling horizontally, in an interoperable way. Our Live from the InTents Conference episode has become an annual tradition, and it's one of our favorites every year. Tent Talk producer Leandra Hays sat down with conference attendees and asked them to share the best part of their market day. They made us laugh, and cry and sometimes say, "What the heck?" Drop a note in the comments to share the part of your market day that is your favorite. Big thanks to the wide variety of people who shared their experiences from markets coast to coast (we see you, New Brunswick!)

nteroperability is a holy grail problem in the crypto space that once solved unlocks cryptos version of the internet. Cross chain intents don't fully solve this issue, but do potentially solve a piece of the puzzle. In this episode I talk to Hart Lambur about Across and what are cross chain intents, how do they work and what is Across overall building? We also dive into the ACX token, how it works and overall the long term vision for Across as a whole. ----------- THE OBSIDIAN COUNCIL PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP

Phil Daian is a crypto-economic researcher! Phil is the lead author behind the landmark paper, “Flash Boys 2.0,” which introduced and defined the MEV problem in the Ethereum landscape, over 4 years ago. He is the cofounder of FlashBots, which is a research and dev organization with the mission of mitigating the negative externalities of MEV. Andrew Miller is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois, SGX Bull, and visiting researcher at Flashbots, and big believer in cypherpunk values through crypto-economic mechanisms. ------ ✨ DEBRIEF | Ryan & David unpacking the episode: https://www.bankless.com/debrief-suave Have you ever heard of Flashbots? Flashbots is the silent protector of Ethereum, a shield against the forces of centralization that silently sneak into our cryptosystems and turn them into TradFi. It's one of the unsung heroes of crypto. The guests we have on today are from Flashbots, Phil Daian, and Andrew Miller. They believe the biggest centralization threats in crypto still lie ahead. And they've got a new platform that's being built to defend against them. It's called “Suave”, and we've been hearing a lot about it recently - “Solving MEV” - “Decentralizing block building” - but going into this episode, we weren't sure exactly what it was. We found out during this episode. -----

Welcome to David's takes. A new format with David and RSA where we explore David's weekly articles in 30 minutes or less. This week, we're diving into one gigantic metaphor. Ethereum as a reserviour of liquidity. So sit back, relax, and enjoy "A Hitchhiker's Guide to Riding an MEV Bot". Read David's article here: https://www.bankless.com/a-hitchhikers-guide-to-riding-an-mev-bot/ If you're looking for a more technical explanation check out our recent episode with Dan Robinson: https://youtu.be/h4gzZib0j48 -----
Dan Robinson is GP and Head of Research at Paradigm. He, over the years, has done a lot of deep thinking about markets, auctions, and liquidity in DeFi, with a particular focus on Uniswap and Uniswap V3. Recently, Uniswap Labs released UniswapX, a new dutch auction mechanism, that Dan thinks changes the meta for swapping assets in DeFi, MEV, chain interoperability, and much more. The last time Dan was on Bankless was September 2020…almost 3 years ago! If you have ever heard Ryan or I say the phrase “Ethereum is a dark forest”...it came from that episode. ------
