Have you ever felt like your body is just stuck? Like no amount of stretching, foam rolling or chiropractic visits hits the spot? In this episode, we're peeling back the layers—literally—with a chiropractor and fascia whisperer who's here to crack more than just your spine. We're diving into the weird, wonderful world of fascia—that sticky, stretchy, superhero web of tissue that's been secretly holding your body (and maybe your stress) together for years. I'm speaking with the brilliant and unconventional Dr. Bryan Geier, a fascia-focused chiropractor who's redefining how we approach movement, pain, and healing. Forget the standard spine crack—Dr. Geier dives deep into the fascial system, the often-overlooked connective tissue that influences everything from posture to emotional trauma. With a unique blend of science, intuition, and hands-on expertise, Dr. Geier shares how unlocking the fascia can lead to dramatic, lasting results—without surgery, pills, or endless PT appointments. Whether you're an athlete, a chronic pain sufferer, or just fascia-curious, this conversation will change the way you think about your body.

Unspoken Pain Points: What Every Leader Feels But Never Admits Are you feeling the weight of leadership in silence? You're not alone. In this candid episode of No More Leadership BS,the No BS Gang dives into the taboo topic of leadership struggles that most executives keep buried. The Desolation of Command Leadership can be profoundly isolating. This desolation often stems from our own decisions without having the right peer group to understand the unique pressures of leadership. Rather than grinding through it solo, discover why connection is crucial. The Authenticity Paradox Leaders fear vulnerability will diminish trust, yet the opposite is true. "Humbleness is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less." When you're fixated on yourself, you become less trustworthy. True leadership elevation comes when you embrace authentic connection. The Invisible Burnout Many leaders have normalized overwork to the point where burnout becomes invisible. Geoff points out that disconnection plays a major role: "An empty cup can't fill up anything." Learn why creating genuine relationships outside your leadership role isn't just beneficial—it's essential. The Bottom Line These unspoken pain points require a safe, confidential space to address. The panel unanimously agrees: every leader needs a coach, mentor, or confidant to break the cycle of isolation. Your leadership style sets the example for future leaders—make it sustainable. Tune in for: Ways to recognize burnout before it's too late ->How vulnerability actually builds trust instead of eroding it ->The critical reason your benefits package is worthless if unused ->A practical first step to breaking the cycle of leadership isolation Remember: "The reason it feels lonely is because you've decided for it to be lonely. Change that cycle. You'll become a better leader, you'll feel better about it, and relationships at work and at home will get better—and that is no BS."
In their most urgent and emotionally charged episode yet, Dr. Jonathan Howard and science journalist Wendy Orent confront the accelerating unraveling of public health institutions in the United States under the RFK Jr. administration. They open with a flood of disturbing headlines: Peter Marks, the nation's top vaccine expert, has been ousted. Measles is surging in Texas, and children are arriving at hospitals with liver failure after being treated with toxic vitamin A overdoses—recommended by RFK-aligned influencers. The CDC and NIH are being gutted: funding pulled, scientists fired, and research into vaccine hesitancy and mRNA technology halted. David Geier, a disgraced figure with a history of chemically castrating autistic children, has been tapped to lead a new federal vaccine safety study. Howard and Orent don't hold back. They rip into this dystopian reversal of public health, where disinformation peddlers are now calling the shots. They highlight the sheer absurdity and danger of putting figures like Jay Bhattacharya, Scott Atlas, and Geier in positions of power—people who have spent years sowing distrust in vaccines, downplaying COVID, and demonizing public health measures. The episode draws a brutal contrast between the lived reality of frontline doctors and essential workers—many of whom died in early pandemic waves—and the self-styled martyrs of the anti-lockdown movement, who now paint themselves as victims. One particularly enraging example: Bhattacharya's claim that he felt “unsafe” on Stanford's campus after a flyer was posted with his own quote alongside Florida's Delta wave death tolls. This, while over 20,000 Floridians died in that wave, many unvaccinated due to the policies he championed. A major target of their critique is the book In COVID's Wake, which they say rewrites history by glorifying the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration and ignoring the real human toll of their misinformation. Orent and Howard dismantle the book's central claim—that these anti-lockdown figures were treated unfairly—pointing out that many of them became media darlings, got promoted, or were appointed to powerful roles. Meanwhile, real scientists and doctors who fought on the frontlines were ignored, censured, or worse. They also expose the cynical “woke-washing” by these same figures—claiming to champion the poor and marginalized while promoting policies that left essential workers unprotected. Their concern for “equity,” Howard and Orent argue, was nothing more than rhetorical cover for libertarian, laissez-faire ideology. As the episode barrels toward its conclusion, one message becomes chillingly clear: We are watching the active dismantling of public health—science silenced, disinformation rewarded, and truth replaced by ideology. And as Dr. Howard puts it: “If we had predicted these headlines six months ago, we would've sounded insane. But now, they're reality.” This episode is a searing call to action. For scientists. For journalists. For anyone who still believes in truth, public health, and protecting the vulnerable. Because as Orent warns: “The wild horses of the plague apocalypse are descending... and the party's just beginning.” Connect with us further on https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/author/jonathanhoward/ The Fine Print The content presented in the "We Want Them Infected" Podcast and associated book is intended for informational and educational purposes only. Flying Solo is a No-Go: Why Everything Changes When You're Not Alone Leadership's Strongest Force Isn't Isolation – It's Connection Think you do your best work in solitude? That leadership is about carrying the weight alone? Think again! This episode busts the myth that leadership is a solo sport, revealing how synergy, trust, and community create stronger outcomes than any individual effort could achieve. When One Plus One Equals Way More Than Two The power of synergy transforms organizations. "Two is one and one is none" – highlighting that working together produces exponentially better results than working alone. Stephen Covey's principle of synergy means one and one doesn't equal two anymore; it can equal three, four, or more depending on how effectively people collaborate. The Trust Factor: Why Leaders Need Their Tribes Our best ideas emerge not in isolation but through human connection – often in hallways, parking lots, and after-hours conversations. The magic happens when people feel valued and trust each other enough to share ideas freely, even the potentially "stinky" ones. This psychological safety becomes the breeding ground where innovation thrives. Breaking the Leadership Vacuum Effective leadership isn't about knowing everything – it's about bringing people together. Our hosts share how their organizations' most successful events came from collaborative efforts where team members continuously built upon each other's ideas, creating outcomes that never could have been imagined alone. The Bottom Line Leadership in isolation isn't leadership at all – it's ego. The most effective leaders build communities of trust where accountability, innovation, and growth flourish naturally. As one host concludes, "If you're alone, it's because you've decided to be alone." Tune in for: * Practical advice on creating environments where synergy can thrive * Stories of leadership transformations from isolation to collaboration * The critical difference between leading people and working with people * How to find your leadership tribe outside your organization "You can fly airplanes solo, but it's way safer, better, more efficient, and more fun if you have another pilot with you."

#211: On a recent trip to Biofach 2025 in Germany, Linley Dixon visits with former IFOAM (International Federation of Agriculture Movements) president Bernward Geier to discuss ways to maintain organic integrity around the globe amid growing industrial pressures. Market forces, political influences, and variances in integrity among certifiers are all contributing to the growing differences between the EU and US organic labeling systems, with the EU growing their acreage planted in Organic and corresponding labeling programs, and the US importing the majority of their offerings on the shelf while keeping their farmland dedicated to chemical agriculture. Whether you're an organic farmer, industry insider, or eco-conscious eater, this episode offers a deep dive into the critical issues defining the future of sustainable food production worldwide. Bernward Geier is the former director of IFOAM (The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements), a role which he held for 18 years. He is the current director of COLABORA - Let's Work Together, a nonprofit focused on bridging the overlap in sustainability movements between agricultural and ecological organizations. Bernward serves as a board member for Vandana Shiva's organization Navdanya, and is also a celebrated author, filmmaker, and speaker. To watch a video version of this podcast with access to the full transcript and links relevant to our conversation, please visit:https://realorganicproject.org/bernward-geier-doing-right-in-wrong-systemThe Real Organic Podcast is hosted by Dave Chapman and Linley Dixon, engineered by Brandon StCyr, and edited and produced by Jenny Prince. The Real Organic Project is a farmer-led movement working towards certifying 1,000 farms across the United States this year. Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce, and pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs from products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit:https://www.realorganicproject.org/farmsWe believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be, but that the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing the ability for small farms who adhere to the law to stay in business. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but still paying a premium price. And the lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. If you like what you hear and are feeling inspired, we would love for you to join our movement by becoming one of our 1,000 Real Friends:https://www.realorganicproject.org/real-organic-friends/To read our weekly newsletter (which might just be the most forwarded newsletter on the internet!) and get firsthand news about what's happening with organic food, farming and policy, please subscribe here:https://www.realorganicproject.org/email/

The Camerosity Podcast returns with Episode 85 where we wander back into the wonderful world of high end camera auctions. For this episode, we went all the way to Vienna, Austria and invited Jo Geier from Mint and Rare Cameras and the Wetzlar Camera Auctions. In addition to Jo, we also welcomed back Dan Tamarkin from Tamarkin Camera and Auctions. Joining Anthony, Paul, Theo, Mike, and our two special guests are returning callers Brian McDomnhaill, Dan Cuny, Fernando Villava, Gheerwijn Clicque, Ira Cohen, Wes Loder, Miles Libak, Tom Zoss, and Wayne Scheipers, As you might expect when you have two of the world's most respected camera auctioneers on the same episode, we talk about a lot of super rare and collectible cameras. Everything from the original Ur-Leica to rare cameras like the Carl Zeiss Jena Contax, the Australian Snider 35 rangefinder, and Luxus Leicas. In addition to some pretty deep GAS, some love is given to several more affordable cameras like the Canon P, Tower/Nicca rangefinders, and the Nikon F4. In addition to GAS, several great questions were raised including whether or not the definition of 'rare' has changed over the years, whether or not finding collectible cameras is getting harder to find, and why there aren't more younger people collecting cameras. Jo tells us his origin story to how he started both companies and shares with us what his 'white whale' camera would be, Dan and Jo show appreciation for each other and talk about how they have collaborated in the past, including a very special Leica which Dan found at a Pennsylvania garage sale. We revisit the need to get old cameras repaired sooner than later and how quickly experts in certain cameras are disappearing, tips and tricks for new collectors, and Jo proposes a $10 "ugly" camera challenge for anyone going to a camera show. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, we are are going to the suggestion box and covering a topic that you all have told us you wanted to learn more about, adapting lenses. There are many people in this hobby who love cameras, but love the lenses more. While an old Kodak Ektra might be pretty to sit on the shelf, it is more practical to adapt that lens to a modern digital camera and see what kinds of results you can get from it. Episode 86 will be dedicated to the hobby of using old lenses on modern digital cameras. We will record Episode 86 at our regular time on Monday, February 10th at 7pm Central Standard Time and 8pm Eastern Standard Time. If you live in a different time zone and would like to participate, be sure to check your favorite time zone calculator to find out the exact time in your region. I love beer flights. One of the things that makes craft beer so much fun is its sheer variety of styles, interpretations of those styles, and ways of using those styles for flavor experimentation. A flight is an opportunity to explore. A flight board might have an Abbey Dubbel, a Munich Dunkel, an ESB, and a Biere de Garde, taking you on a sensory trip to Belgium, Germany, England, and France a few ounces of beer at a time. Flights aren't without their critics—and valid criticisms—but at their best they represent curiosity, excitement, and joy, all qualities craft beer needs right now as it weathers its current market challenges. Why am I talking about flights? Because today we're talking with the king of beer flights, Joel Geier. Joel runs the @brewery_travels Instagram and Twitter accounts and is the author of the new book Flights Across America: A Brewery Lover's Journey, chronicling his beer adventures to over 1,300 breweries across all 50 states. That's an incredible number, meaning Joel has probably visited one in every six or seven breweries in the entire country. And at as many of those breweries as allow it, he's ordered a flight. In the book, Joel gives tips on beer travel, provides hundreds of brewery recommendations, and reminds us how much fun beer is supposed to be.In our conversation, Joel and I discuss our love of flights, how he keeps track of his journeys and the beers and breweries along the way, and some of his favorite stops from his beer voyages. There's been a lot of bad news in craft beer lately, but this conversation between two beer lovers is a chance to rediscover some of the excitement that got us into craft beer in the first place. Thanks for listening! Ever notice how the phrase "it's just a holiday party" often precedes some of the most cringe-worthy moments in office history? Welcome to another episode of No More Leadership BS, where we're tackling the elephant in the conference room: keeping company celebrations from becoming next year's cautionary tale. In this episode, we explore: #The infamous "pre-lubrication" incident (a cautionary tale from Jeff Geier) #Why your leadership role doesn't clock out for parties #How to keep celebrations both fun and professional #Practical strategies for maintaining boundaries (hint: it's not about being a party pooper) #Real talk about dress codes and social expectations Key Takeaway: The best holiday party strategy isn't about limiting fun – it's about creating an environment where everyone can celebrate safely and professionally. Because let's face it, nobody wants their holiday party story to become next year's leadership seminar example.

The ILB Team meets with the man who literally wrote the book on brewery travels. He has visited over 1300 breweries in over 500 US cities in every state! Welcome back to The DC Beer Show! This week, our hosts Michael Stein, Jacob Berg, and Brandy Holder take you on a flavorful journey with brewery aficionado Joel Geier. Renowned for his extensive "brewery travels," Joel shares his adventures and insights from visiting a staggering 1,367 breweries across all 50 states, and yes, that includes our very own Washington D.C.!Joel's new book, "Flights Across America" will be out December 17 and is available for pre-order now.Joel kicks off by reminiscing about his early love for craft beer, sparked by his father's influence and further ignited during his college years. His move to Oregon with his wife opened new beer horizons, and their subsequent relocation to Milwaukee became a springboard for documenting his brewery escapades via his popular Twitter account, "brewery travels."Ever wonder what it's like to dive into the craft beer scenes across America? Joel's wife, working as a travel nurse, allowed them to crisscross the country, pushing his brewery counts through the roof. They've lived in 14 states over 9 years, each stint providing new local brewery experiences. Joel's dedication led to his first book, "Flights Across America," where he showcases over 400 brewery visits expanded to include an awesome 200 breweries in Wisconsin alone!Did you know Joel's kids tag along on these beer quests? That's right, he's a big advocate for responsibly managed kid-friendly taprooms, sharing touching stories of family outings with breweries providing inclusive, family-centric atmospheres. As the conversation flows, Joel spills his Milwaukee favorites—shoutout to the affordable and varied beers from Lakefront and 3rd Space, the latter celebrated for its wins at the Great American Beer Festival. And who can forget the beloved New Glarus beers? It's not just about the brews; Joel appreciates the historical and community fervor attached to each taproom and brewski stop. His methodical approach to note-taking and storytelling keeps listeners hanging on every word. The hosts also dive into upcoming DC beer events that you won't want to miss. They hype up trivia nights at Other Half, celebrate Right Proper's 11th anniversary with a diverse lineup of events, and the infectious festive vibes at Wheatland Spring holiday markets complete with live music. And don't forget to grab your tickets to the 12 Beers of Christmas at Metro Bar!They even touch on a poignant story of entrepreneurial spirit and community support: Avery Swanson's quest to open her brewery amidst financial setbacks, with a fundraiser pouring Keeping Together beers at the Sovereign.Lastly, our hosts chat about their drink picks, Jacob's beer trade tales, and passionate sips from favorite brews. They leave you with a heartfelt nudge to contribute to the DC beer scene through their Patreon, nurturing the metro area's craft beer culture. So, pour yourself a frothy pint, kick back, and hop aboard another enriching episode of The DC Beer Show! Cheers!

Ever notice how your team seems to read your mind... until they don't?

Success comes from collaboration, not individual effort. Everyone is on their own journey, but the paths we take and how efficiently we travel them can vary dramatically. As leaders, we often bear the weight of responsibility, thinking we must shoulder every burden alone. But what if that very mindset is holding us back? In today's episode, we're challenging the myth of the self-made leader and exploring why even the most capable among us benefit from guidance. Here are three key insights you'll gain from our discussion: 1.The Power of Perspective: Discover how an outside view can illuminate blind spots and open up possibilities you never saw before. 2.Accelerated Growth: Learn how coaching can dramatically shorten your learning curve, helping you achieve your goals faster and more efficiently. 3.The Ripple Effect: Understand how investing in your own growth through coaching doesn't just benefit you – it amplifies your impact on your team and organization. Join us as we share personal stories, debunk common misconceptions, and reveal why the most successful leaders aren't going it alone – they're leveraging the transformative power of coaching. Whether you're a seasoned executive or an aspiring leader, this episode will challenge you to rethink your approach to personal and professional development. Let's dive in!

We know very little about him but we know that he was deaf from the age of twelve. And I know that I love this story. It was published in the summer of 1947 about the time of the Roswell incident in Roswell, New Mexico. Everyone's on their own journey when it comes to change, but how we navigate it can make all the difference between stumbling and striding forward. In this episode of "No More Leadership BS," we're diving headfirst into the choppy waters of change with insights from the No More Leadership BS Gang. Now, we all know change is as inevitable as death and taxes, but it doesn't have to be a four-letter word in your organization. Our guests have been down this road more times than they can count, and they're here to share the nitty-gritty on embracing change effectively. We're talking real strategies that work in the trenches, not just feel-good fluff that falls apart under pressure. So, whether you're a seasoned leader or just dipping your toes into the leadership pool, buckle up. We're about to show you how to turn the tide of change in your favor. From learning to adapt instead of resist, to mastering the art of change communication, to spotting those golden growth opportunities hiding in plain sight - we've got it all. This isn't just talk; it's your playbook for navigating change like a pro. Stop fighting the current and start riding the wave.
I'm so stressed! There's so much! Too much! Stress can be bad, unhealthy. Too much of anything can be negative. Stress can also be very good. Stress on our muscles can cause damage AND growth. So stress is not going anywhere, what in the world can we do? 1️⃣ We can react or we can respond. Usually reacting is less measured than responding. 2️⃣ Stress is necessary and we can manage how we engage it. 3️⃣ It is more effective if stress represents a brief peak rather than a constant state. Leaders face all kinds of stress. The decisions they have to make for big picture issues impact many others. Negotiating how to address a difficult conversation with another person is not everyone's favorite task. We've pinpointed the issue... now what? The No More Leadership BS team addresses stress, stressors, and how we respond. SPOILER: our recommendation is NOT to avoid stress. We're not advocating for hermitism. As a leader, you have the ability to engage in meaningful behaviors to appropriately manage the stressors in your life. You also have the responsibility to do so in order to serve those who look to you for leadership.
