WITF and Tim Lambert received some good news last week. Tim's story about his father being one of the last living witnesses to a unique atomic test in the 1950's was honored with a national Edward R. Murrow Award for best use of sound. Director of Journalism Scott Blanchard who was Tim's editor for the project sat down with Asia Tabb to talk about the impact of this story. “The Murrow Awards are among the most prestigious in the industry. The Radio Television News Directors Association presents Murrow Awards for first in 14 regions across the US. Broken down by the size of the market a station serves, and then the regional honorees are judged, and one story is recognized as the best among all regions in its market size. As the organization says, stories must uphold the RTDNA Code of ethics, demonstrate technical expertise, and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community, so they honor the dedication and excellence that broadcaster Edward R Murrow was known for. This is the seventh time that Tim has received a national Murrow, and the 18th time for WITF since 2007. So, it's a big deal to be honored on a regional level. And in fact, Tim Story received three regional awards for sound digital presentation and for Feature Story. And I want to take a minute to note that the, did digital producer Jeremy Long, graphic designer Tom Downing, and videographer Doug Watson all played key roles in the project.” The story called “A Pennsylvania man saw the true power of Atomic Annie,” is about Tim's father, who was in the Army, witnessing a nuclear test in the Nevada desert in 1953. “It was the only time that a tactical nuclear device was fired from a cannon. So it was a massive logistical undertaking. And a lot of that comes through in Tim's story. And in May 1953, when that test took place, the Korean War was on going, and North Korea and Russia were paying really close attention to what the U.S was doing. So, as you'll hear, the historian that Tim talked to, you say the U.S. was very much sending a message to those adversaries with this test. So this is a fascinating story about Tom Lambert's personal experience amid the bigger picture. Of this, event that had such international impact. And it's also a story that lives in American cultural history, the whole atomic age.” Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our Present Reality Pastor Doug & Cindy Watson harvestrenewal.org Cindy and I are so blessed to be with you this morning and to be able to share our hearts with you today. This past year has been an adventure of experiencing and living out this passage in Mark. Jesus clearly communicates that something totally new enters our life as we trust in Christ with all of our heart. A new reality dawns upon our lives and a transformation must take place in our minds for us to understand and comprehend this wonderful life in God. If we fail to grasp this new reality we will spend the rest of out lives as Christians trying to grasp something through our own efforts, which has already been freely given to us by Father, God. May we have eyes to see and ears to hear today. Love and blessings, Pastor Doug & Cindy
Redeemed To Become Pastor Doug Watson harvestrenewal.org Have you ever wondered what motivated Peter and Andrew to leave the only thing they were familiar with to follow Jesus? I have heard many reasons over the years, but I believe it was hope of becoming someone different. Jesus looked beyond their present place in life as uneducated fisherman to cast a vision of what they could become in Him; men who would turn the world upside-down! Throughout history God redeems people who were in sin, unqualified, and inexperienced to be transformed and become what God knows they can be. Today I want to address the idea of us becoming the people that God believes that we are meant to be, as those who are truly one in Christ? When we look at ourselves, whom do we see? Today, are we willing to accept the reality that we are "Redeemed to Become?" - Pastor Doug
In this episode Scott Becker interviews Doug Watson, CFO at Dignity Health Arizona.
In a moment of crisis for Israel, Nehemiah prayed an urgent prayer and from that one prayer God ignited a dream in the heart of this man that would transform a nation and bring a people back to their God. I truly believe that God has called our church to be a place of dedicated prayer where dreams, miracles, signs, and wonders emerge daily because we have, asa people, invested into a culture of prayer. Today I want to ask, is your prayer life releasing and igniting visions and dreams for your life and family that are so big and magnificent that only a life committed to God's presence and prayer will bring them forth? Will we be willing, as a people, to make room in our lives for God-size dreams and the prayers that will ignite them? In Ephesians 3:20 found in the Passion Translation it powerfully describes our God as one who will infinitely achieve more than our greatest request, our most unbelievable dream and will exceed your wildest imagination! I believe it's time for you and I to encounter that kind of God in our prayers. - Pastor Doug

A continuation of last week's sermon
In God's Kingdom we all stand on level ground according to the faith that God has gifted to each one of us. When we turn to Christ through heartfelt repentance and confession of our intent to follow after Christ, we receive one of the true treasures of God's kingdom, which is faith. It is this kingdom faith that Jesus inquires about when he asks in Luke 18:8, "Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" As we examine the gospels we find that Jesus often spoke powerfully into moments where he found no faith, little faith, and even great faith! It seems that Jesus always expressed great pleasure when he encountered those who demonstrated faith in the things that He has spoken. God's kingdom advances through our simple response of belief, trust, and obedience in the relationship that we have in Christ. Today let's receive and learn from the truths that scripture proclaims concerning Kingdom Faith.
Gideon was faced with his own weakness, fear, failure when God proclaimed him as a mighty man of valor! Gideon certainly seemed the most unlikely to save anyone from the Midianites. In spite of Gideon's own personal view of himself, God had a great vision and plan for him. We may identify with Gideon and many of the other heroes in the Bible. When God invites we for a great mission we only see our inability to accomplish the task set before us by God. We find ourselves in the group of the "Most Unlikely!" This morning we want to discuss how to make that transition from the most unlikely, to seeing ourselves as chosen by God to do the extraordinary. God's kingdom is filled with many who have made this journey and live to testify of a "Most Likely Life!" God invites you to be one of those. -Pastor Doug
This morning I want to take a few minutes and share some important truths on the kingdom that Jesus so passionately preached wherever he went. There's no doubt that Jesus modeled what we are to also carry as we proclaim and live out the "Good News." What will that look like for Harvest Renewal Church as we reach Richmond and beyond? I believe the pursuit of these questions will be transforming for us all.
May 28th, 2018 will be one of our national holidays that we set aside in America to celebrate. Memorial Day has been recognized in some form ever since the Civil War to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the giving of their life for our freedom. Each life story becomes a testimony of bravery, sacrifice, and love for something greater than their individual lives. Today it is right and holy to remember every life and honor the stories of these brave men and women. In God's Word it consistently encourages us to remember the stories that God is building in every believer's life. These stories or testimonies reveal the history of God's promises, power, and divine possibilities for a follower of Christ. Each story remembered empowers someone else to believe what is possible in his and her life. Today as we celebrate God's goodness I want to share the importance of three things. What does it mean to you and me as we declare a testimony, keep a testimony, and remember a testimony. The collection of God's testimonies in every life declares a valuable story to be remembered, honored, and celebrated! - Doug Watson
In most of Paul's writings to the early church he reminded and encouraged the believers to be aware of how you live your life before others. It seemed to the Apostle Paul that we must be clothed in the fruit of the Holy Spirit just as much as in the power of the Holy Spirit. Doug examines Colossians 3:12 - 17, and the valuable insight that it brings to us as Christians as we commit ourselves daily in following Christ. I believe a lost generation is waiting to see followers of Christ who actually carry the heart of Christ to those they encounter!

Regular listeners of Brandon's Buzz know that I got my start working on Stardish Radio, a BlogTalkRadio show hosted by my good pal JoAnn Kubasek. I still work with JoAnn often, and occasionally, I even pop in and guest-host Stardish. And with JoAnn's very generous blessing, I am presenting a compilation of conversations I have conducted over the past couple of years on Stardish with four of our favorite soap stars past and present, including: "One Life to Live" hunk MATT WALTON (who discusses how he nabbed the role of Llanview legal eagle Eli Clarke); former "General Hospital" star MICHAEL SUTTON (who talks about his recent return to the show as tragic hero Stone Cates); former "Another World" heroine SANDRA ROBINSON (who recalls working opposite daytime legends like Doug Watson and Victoria Wyndham, who portrayed her character Amanda Cory Fowler's parents); and legendary "One Life to Live" returnee KIM ZIMMER (who discusses the turbulent final days of "Guiding Light," as well as how thrilled she is to return to Llanview after nearly three decades).
