State of Origin fallout, Bulldogs' spine shake-up & Dean Young's Dragons future — Round 16 Review. Laurie Daley is under fire after NSW's Origin 2 blowout loss to Queensland, and the panel doesn't hold back Alex demands accountability from the coach, while Dean Ritchie pushes back on the personal criticism crossing the line. Is "sorry, we got it wrong" the speech Daley needs to give before Game 3? Plus, the Canterbury Bulldogs survived an ugly golden-point win over Manly, but Cameron Ciraldo's constant spine tinkering raises a bigger question is this team good enough to make the finals? The panel locks in the spine they believe can get the Bulldogs there. And at the Red V, Dean Young keeps finding signs of life in a one-win Dragons season. The panel asks the hard question: can you sign a coach based on potential alone, or does St George Illawarra need to look elsewhere?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's been a disappointing season for the Red V to say the least, but signs are looking up after securing their first win of the season. The Australian's Andrew Webster joins Adam Hawse to celebrate the Dragons first win in 295 days. What does it mean for coach Dean Young, and what of the Brisbane Broncos? The premiers were also sitting at 5 wins and 7 losses at the same time last year. Also, the players have spoken! A RLPA survey shows 84 per cent of leading players believe referees are having an increased impact on results and most fear they are more vulnerable to injury in the modern game. Naughty Mal Meninga has been caught courting a couple of Bulldogs, and the Galvin booing goes on. For all your NRL news, follow the Continuous Call Team wherever you get your podcasts. Also, we look at whether Nathan Cleary really has to dominate or "own" Origin in order to be considered a future immortal, why the build up to State of Origin game 1 has been flat, and how Dean Young's chances of coaching the Dragons in 2027 fade with every loss. When Dean Young took the stage in October of 2012 to read from his Copper Canyon Press collection, Bender, we were incredibly fortunate to bear witness to his humorous, irreverent, and fearless poetry. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing in August 2022, and we continue to treasure his voice as it lives on in his work.
