This week's scripture: Psalm 118v1-2, 14-24Luke 24v1-12Luke 24v13-35This Easter, Adam explores the idea that what if God often amazes then invites us to take the next step, but doesn't rush us on the road to belief? What if one of our greatest challenges on the road to "your kingdom come, your will be done" is simply doing the next thing God is asking us to do.

Remnant people understand the need to walk a crucified life. There's an awful lot of prosperity teaching out there. You know it and I know it. It's all over television and radio and it's all about what God is going to do for you and what God can do for me, and what God promises me. Me, me, me. I have news for you, it's not about you, it isn't about me, it's about Him, it's about Christ. We don't have to go chasing prosperity. Scripture says, may you prosper as your soul prospers. We at Word of Faith Ministries International-Miami hope and pray that these teachings of the Holy Spirit through Bern will edify and regenerate your spirit to gain a deeper understanding of God's Word and His truths so you can have a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him. The religious leaders send spies among Jesus' followers to try to trick Jesus with complex questions. In this context and the turning of the tables, Jesus tells two parables about a vineyard and the wickedness of the religious leaders. The parable of the two sons is about two sons. One is wicked, honest, and repentant and the other is religious, deceitful, and unrepentant. Which one did the will of the father? The parable of the wicked vinedresser speaks to the love of the God, that would send prophet after prophet to Israel followed by his own son which would be rejected and killed. The parable was a condemnation of the religious leaders as much as it is a prophetic annotation of the days to come. Matthew 21:23-22:14Mark 11:27-12:12Luke 20:1-19www.messagetokings.com

Welcome back to the Salty Pastor Podcast for another insightful episode of our series, "Exposed: The Intimacy Illusion." This week, we delve deeper into the complex interplay between human sexuality and spiritual intimacy, challenging the misconceptions that cloud our understanding.Doug continues to explore how modern society has distorted the true meaning of intimacy by separating it from our spiritual nature. He argues that this separation has led to widespread confusion and dissatisfaction, making us rethink what genuine closeness entails. This episode discusses the profound implications of confusing sex with intimacy and how this misunderstanding impacts our spiritual and emotional well-being. By reconnecting our physical desires with our spiritual needs, we can begin to unravel the illusions presented by contemporary culture.Jesse adds perspective on navigating the noisy landscape of social discussions about sexuality, emphasizing the importance of understanding biblical teachings in their true context.Tune in as we equip you with insights to foster deeper, more meaningful relationships, shedding light on the true essence of intimacy where the spiritual and physical converge.**Check out our new website (www.thesaltypastor.com) for more resources, and don't forget to like and subscribe for more episodes that challenge the status quo and enrich your faith journey.****Note:** This series discusses mature themes; listener discretion is advised for younger audiences.References:Old Testament:Genesis 1:26-27Genesis 2:18-25Genesis 17:7-12Genesis 19:1-11Exodus 20:14Leviticus 18:22-23Leviticus 20:13Deuteronomy 22:30Deuteronomy 23:17-18Deuteronomy 27:21Judges 16 (Samson and Delilah)2 Samuel 11 (David and Bathsheba)Psalms 51Proverbs 5Proverbs 6Proverbs 7Song of SolomonJeremiah 23:14New Testament:Matthew 5:27-32Matthew 15:19-20Matthew 19:1-12Mark 7:20-23Mark 10:11-12Luke 16:18Acts 15:20-29Romans 1:26-271 Corinthians 5:1-131 Corinthians 61 Corinthians 71 Corinthians 10:82 Corinthians 6:142 Corinthians 12:21Galatians 5:19-24Ephesians 4:19Ephesians 5:3-5Colossians 3:51 Thessalonians 4:1-182 Timothy 2:22Hebrews 12:16Hebrews 13:4James 1:12-151 Peter 2:111 John 2:15-17Jude 1:7Revelation 2:14, 20Revelation 21:8Revelation 22:15

In ancient Israel, the people needed to remain vigilant at the sound of the trumpet or the sight of the raised standard. These signals were indispensable - even so, in the era of the church, the trumpet symbolizes the preached Word of God, while the standard signifies the embodiment of His teachings. Hence, it is essential not only to proclaim the truth for all to hear but also to exemplify it daily in our lives.04/14/2024 - Sunday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Isaiah 62:10-12Joel 2:1I Corinthians 14:8Jeremiah 4:21Isaiah 59:14Leviticus 25:9Exodus 19:13Numbers 10:8Romans 10:14I Corinthians 1:21Ephesians 4:11-12Luke 8:18Judges 6:34Isaiah 58:1Jeremiah 9:3I Corinthians 9:16Matthew 5:13-16

Leadership is a part of spiritual organization” -WWSeveral others I read said that everything rises and falls on leadership. We know this intuitively. We see it in the workplace. We see it in sports. We see it in politics. Great leaders lift everyone else up. And the great leaders aren't just great in competencies. They are great in character. So it should not surprise us that most of God's qualifications for his leaders are based on character. ContextOUTLINE (Based on Wiersbe & Platt)Key theme: How to manage the ministry of the local churchKey verse: 1 Timothy 3:15I. The Church and Its Message (1)II. The Church and Its Members (2–3)A. Praying men (2:1–8)B. Modest women (2:9–15)C. Dedicated officers (3:1–13) THIS WEEK STARTS HEREThe Bible identifies 2 primary leadership roles in the church:Pastors/elders, who are servant-leaders. (Aka overseers, bishops, shepherds)Presbyter or elder, referring to the person (mature)Pastor or shepherd, referring to their role. (Lead, feed, protect, model)Bishop or overseer, referring to their role. (Watch over, see Pastor) We do not see bishops over elders/pastors in the early church.1-3 are all interchangeable because their all referring to the same person/role.Minister or deacon, referring to those who support the pastor/elder.Deacons, who are leading servants. The Bible identifies 4 responsibilities of pastors/elders: (3:1-7; Acts 20:17-31)Lead under the authority of Christ. #LEADOur pastors/elders are accountable to the church members i.e. Matt 18:15-20Our pastors/elders are accountable to GodCare for the body of Christ. #PROTECT (Acts 20:28-30; 1 Peter 5:2) “be on guard” for “savage wolves” in sheep's clothingTeach the Word of Christ. #FEEDModel the character of Christ. Bottom line: What will happen if the church imitates this leader? #MODEL 3 Responsibilities of Deacons (3:8-13)Meet needs according to the Word.Support the ministry of the Word.Unify the body around the Word.Model the character of Christ is appropriate here to. 1. Pastors (3:1–7)Generally/summarily: “Above reproach” or “blameless” literally “nothing to take hold upon”; irreproachable observable conduct.“Faithful to his wife” literally “one woman man”Can mean one wife for life thus excluding divorced and/or remarried men (in every case though? No)What about the innocent party when the other was unfaithful?Paul allowed a new believer to let their unbelieving spouse leave the marriage Would not exclude widowers who remarry; Paul may not have ever married—wished for followers to be single like he; Paul encouraged young widows to remarryDoes not require marriage but seems to lean in that direction; this tends to take care of itself in that the typical pool of candidates is usually mostly married menPolygamy obviously not okMost likely meaning: Faithful to your current (some would say one and only) wife in every area of life. From porn to adultery, you are faithful. To not be is to be disqualified.Self-masteryTemperate—sober; clear-headedSelf-controlled—sensible; disciplinedRespectable—the outward expression of an inward self-control Hospitality—showing love to strangers (whether a traveling preacher or a needy church attender)Able to teach—specifically, the word of God. This is our authority and we must know it, believe it, and obey it. This is gifting and a skill.Drinking habits—While drinking is not forbidden by scripture, it is treated as the depressant that it is. A depressant that impairs about ability to make good judgments. This is why in the Old TestamentPriests weren't to drink while on dutyKings were discouraged from becoming drunkMagistrates were warned that they would more likely pervert justice under the influenceProphets would struggle to teach under the influenceSo it makes sense that Paul would discourage it to those who lead and teach in the churchTemper and temperamentGentle—humbly gracious and yielded or even submissiveNot violent—not a bully physically or verballyNot quarrelsome—patient with difficult people; not argumentativeAttitude to money—not a lover of money; greedyDomestic disciplineAnalogy between the family and the church family (Oikos = household)If you don't discipline at home well, you won't discipline the church well, if at allSpiritual maturity—not a new believer or pride may take him down; first called “elders” because they were senior in age and mature in faithOutside reputation—the non-Christian public2. Deacons (3:8–13)—these qualifications have a lot of overlap with elders including able to teach, at some levelSelf-masteryWorthy of respectSincere—genuine, authentic, honestNot indulging in much wineNot pursuing dishonest gainOrthodox convictionsThey must keep hold of the deep truths (mysteries or sum total of the revealed truths of the faith) of THE faith (not just any faith) with a clear conscience (as opposed to letting go of these truths like false teachers).Trusting & ObeyingTested and approved—period of probation where the congregation can assess your character, beliefs and gifts of the candidates.Irreproachable home lifeIf a woman deacon or wife of a deaconWorthy of respectNot malicious talkers (gossipers)TemperateTrustworthy in everythingDomestic disciplineFaithful to his wifeManages his household wellIf served well so far they receiveAn excellent standingGreat assurance in their faith in Jesus ChristD. What do I want them to know?A. The qualifications for pastors/elders and deacons.Q. Why do I want them to know it?A. Because they are to select their leaders based on these qualifications.Q. What do I want them to do about it?A. 1. Choose qualified leaders to lead your church.Become a qualified leader whether you are ever selected or not.Q. Why do I want them to do it?A. Because this is what a true disciple of Jesus Christ looks like and what we're to become over time.Q. How can they begin to do this?A. 1. Take the test yourself. Go through the qualifications and grading yourself.Repent where appropriate and believe that God can transform you into a qualified leader.PrayNOTESElders in the New Testament are tasked with several key duties, including:1. **Spiritual Oversight:** Providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the church community.2. **Teaching and Doctrine:** Instructing and ensuring adherence to sound biblical doctrine.3. **Shepherding the Flock:** Caring for the well-being of the congregation, like a shepherd caring for a flock.4. **Modeling Character:** Demonstrating a godly and mature character for others to follow.5. **Prayer:** Engaging in prayer for the church and its members.6. **Protecting from False Teaching:** Guarding the congregation against false doctrines or teachings. These duties are outlined in passages like 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-5 in the New Testament.OUTLINESBKC OutlineI. Sermon Texts:Genesis 4:8-12Luke 4:16-21Exodus 7:14-25Today we look at what is traditionally known as the first plague in which the Nile River is turned to blood. However, I argue we should use the term sign instead of plague because signs are symbols that reveal information. In this case, we learn something about YHWH. Along the way we will begin to study the issue of the hardening of Pharaoh's heart as well as learn about different conceptions of the brushtail possum in Australia and New Zealand. We also study blood as a symbol and why this sign may be a bit more complex than traditionally read.

Have you ever struggled with self-care: -What it is-How to do it-What actually fills you up-What the Bible says about it?If so, this podcast is for you! Here's a little glimpse of what Brit shares…“Why do we need self-care? How did we get to the exhaustion point?Am I worried about things I shouldn't be worried about? What is the root cause of this? Many times the root case is an identity or trust issue. And a pedicure is not going to cure that. Get a pedicure, but it may not fill you the way you need to be filled. When I'm still for a while and really sit with the Lord - that has filled me up in a way nothing else can.”A few Bible verses we mention about self-careLuke 6:12Luke 5:16John 6:15Mark 3:7-9“Somebody to You” song

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. The Apostle Matthew spends one of his five major teaching sections on the sending out of the disciples to do Evangelism in Matthew 10. Jesus gives them instructions and imparts to them the authority for healing and deliverance, and almost immediately speaks instructions to a future generation, the future Book of Acts Church. In this episode, we cover Jesus instructions, the actions of the disciples, and the so-called "Pre-Commission." Matthew 10Mark 6:12Luke 9:1-9www.messagetokings.com

Reading the Bible is not an academic exercise, but an investment in a relationship. Today we talk about how the main objective in the entire Christian life is to know Jesus. If we miss the relational component of our walks with Him, then we miss everything.Episodes referenced in this one:Episode 4: Brief overview of the Old TestamentEpisode 24: The GospelScriptures used in this episode:John 17:3Jeremiah 22:8-9Ezekiel 33:10-112 Peter 3:9Ezekiel 18:32Ezekiel 18:23Romans 6:23Ezekiel 18:4Jonah 1:1-3aJonah 3:1-10Jonah 4:1-4, 11Matthew 23:12Luke 15:17-24John 1:14Philippians 2:12-13Matthew 11:28Ezekiel 34:1-6, 15-16John 10:112 Corinthians 3:17-18John 14:8-9Hebrews 1:1-3**CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS**When quoting John 10:11, I accidentally omitted the second occurrence of the word "good". In Episode 146, we continue talking about one of the Grace Breakthrough books I authored, Grace Breakthrough: Exploding the Lies that Wound Your Confidence and Joy (The Grace Awakening Trilogy). What exactly is grace? It seems to be a simple question, yet the answer has many diverse perspectives. We may all be ashamed to confess that we have difficulty understanding one of the most often-used terms in the church today. Grace is the word. We often hear it characterized as "undeserved favor" or "receiving something we don't deserve." Knowing that grace is merited and that we would be lost without it should humble us. And from that humility should spring an unwavering thankfulness exhibited through a faithful, obedient life.Tune in now, and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! In Episode 133, we go deeper into a walk with God through grace. Our episode today goes back to 2014 when I had my talk about Grace Intervention, where I referred Pathway Church by its old name, Neighborhood Church.Actual graces are specific interventions from God to help us in our spiritual journey. We understand that God's particular love is such that he grants us support to live in a way that leads to sharing his life through grace and in many ways.Tune in now, and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! Be Strong | Hank Parker Jr. | BreakoutWhat does it look like to be a Gospel-driven man? In this breakout, Hank Parker Jr. walks through how to be Gospel-driven men. It is easy in ministry to become so familiar with the Gospel that we lose sight of its magnitude. There is nothing else in this world worth pouring our lives out for. We are undeserving recipients of God's grace. In His goodness, He saves us. Let's be on mission and rest in Christ. 1 CorinthiansGenesis 3:15Romans 5:12Luke 2:10-11Colossians 22 CorinthiansSnowbird Wilderness Outfitters exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the exposition of Scripture and personal relationships in order to equip the Church to impact this generation.Learn more about our student and adult conferences at https://www.swoutfitters.com/Please leave a review on Apple or Spotify to help others grow in their faith.
