This next guest has certainly seen his fair share of action by being the 3rd manin the ring over the years, with getting his start in the old TWA promotion, which lead to things turning into ECW (both Eastern Championship Wrestling, then becoming the land of “Extreme” in ECW & was there til it closed in 2001. This next guest always tried to call it down the middle and be one to lay down the law. Kris & David are back with yet another episode of Between the Sheets, a Patreon request submitted by Allan Paisner who wanted us to do the week that was August 24-30, 1994. We are also joined by one of our favorite guests, Joe Gagne (@JoeGagne), which is always a treat. We start off talking about WCW and one of the most watched wrestling matches in cable TV history, as Hulk Hogan faced off against Ric Flair at the Clash of the Champions in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We talk about the pre-match angle featuring Hulk Hogan getting his Nancy Kerrigan moment, as well as all the other hullabaloo surrounding that, plus the rest of the card, which was a helluva show all together. We also talk about the state of WCW at that time, as Hogan's power is growing fast and furious thanks to his business success, as well as the other WCW issues of the day.We then go to Japan talking about everything there, especially FMW, WAR, & AJW having major shows doing great business, before going to Mexico, where AAA is doing big things and CMLL debuts in Houston, Texas. We come back to the U.S. and go to ECW, where Shane Douglas threw down the NWA World Heavyweight Title belt after winning it in a tournament at the ECW Arena, proclaiming himself the new ECW WORLD Heavyweight Champion as Eastern Championship Wrestling became Extreme Championship Wrestling. We also have a big possible narrative shift taking place regarding this whole thing too, particularly how much of it was a double cross in the moment compared to later that week on TV. Then we talk about SMW, USWA, GWF, and other promotions, including some fun clips from SMW.We close with the WWF, where we go in depth talking about SummerSlam '94, featuring one amazing match, a terrible main event, and other assorted matches including Walter Payton having a blast with Razor Ramon. We also talk about Shawn Michaels & Diesel winning the tag titles the night before the PPV and having a great morning in NYC on Regis & Kathie Lee before flying back to the midwest for the big show, among all other SummerSlam fallout. This was a pretty great, slam-packed show, so you'd better listen!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 WCW2:19:15 Eastern Hemisphere: AJPW, NJPW, FMW, Michinoku Pro, WAR, AJW, and Maharaj Promotions2:52:19 Classic Commercial Break2:56:30 Halftime3:25:07 Mexico: AAA, CMLL, Chavo Guerrero Jr. in Juarez, & UWA3:42:29 ECW4:48:37 Other USA: WCPW, SMW, CWA (IN), USWA, & GWF5:19:34 WWFTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. On this episode of the Noobs and Knockouts Podcast, we are joined by David's roommate Kyle as we venture back to 1994, to the birth of Extreme for a new arc, this time in Extreme Championship Wrestling. And we're going so far back, it's still Eastern Championship Wrestling. The Sandman is pimping out his own wife, but Tommy Dreamer is coming to save the day for Tommy Cairo. Sort of. On this episode we talk about the origins of ECW, the prevalence of tape trading, Paul Heyman's legacy, the term "Pre-Crisis", Sandman's iffy storyline with Tommy Cairo and Woman, stolen music, local Philly commercials, Mikey Whipwreck as King of the Jobbers, Public Enemy cutting the same promo twice, Cactus Jack being the highlight of the episode, bad portrayals of concussions, and more! Won't you join us?

He has been called a renegade, a rebel, a mad scientist who changed the way the world sees sports-entertainment. But ladies and gentlemen, there's only one word that best describes the man born Paul Heyman: Dangerous. This outspoken, brusque New Yorker first gained enemies under the guise of Paul E. Dangerously in WCW. Managing Steve Austin, Arn Anderson and Rick Rude in a stable he dubbed his Dangerous Alliance, Heyman used a Big Apple attitude and an oversized 1980s cell phone to help his charges run through the likes of Sting and Ricky Steamboat. After WCW released the hothead in 1993, Heyman found opportunity in failure, turning a modest Philadelphia-based independent promotion called Eastern Championship Wrestling into the notoriously daring Extreme Championship Wresting. Inspired by alternative rock music and MTV, the innovator took ECW from public access to national pay-per-view through his endorsement of brutal bouts that showcased the rare combination of misfit warriors alongside cutting-edge athletes. Credited with inspiring WWE's landmark “Attitude Era,” the controversial brand became the third-largest wrestling company in the world before it was crippled by financial problems in 2001. Heyman joined WWE as Jim Ross' broadcast partner, but it wouldn't be long before the nonconformists of ECW re-emerged in WWE as part of the infamous “Invasion.” Aligning himself with Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Heyman came frighteningly close to overthrowing Mr. McMahon's empire, but ultimately failed to bring down WWE. Time and again, however, Heyman was able to worm his way back in, forming alliances with CM Punk, Big Show, Kurt Angle and, Brock Lesnar, whom Heyman guided to multiple championships and a historic defeat of The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30, snapping The Phenom's undefeated Streak at The Show of Shows. Heyman is firmly entrenched as the Special Council to Universal Champion Roman Reigns where he lends his opinion and his outspoken nature to praise the greatest of The Head of the Table wherever possible. One thing's for sure — this New Yorker knows how to make life hell for anyone that crosses him. His name is Paul Heyman, ladies and gentlemen, and you'll never forget it for as long as you live.

It's E C Ref'N W on the Insider's Edge Podcast! We do a deep dive on the life of an ECW referee, and talk about his fondest moments and times in ECW, as well as his side of the story with One Night Stand, getting powerbombed by Mike Awesome and essentially telling the WWE to stick it once it was obvious that WWECW was going no where, and much more! Eastern Championship Wrestling? Yep, that's some early 90s' NWA shit.
After some tour scheduling issues, Jenny, Matt, Drew and Scott head to Philadelphia! They go back to 1992 for a pair of rare VHS releases from EASTERN Championship Wrestling. They talk about 80's stars in the twilight of their careers, dingy Philly bars, Dick Graham, cabarets, janitors and more! So sit back, let us tune the instruments and enjoy another great show from Jenny & the Gems!
Hi there! Remember us? We're back! After taking a monthlong absence from publishing a new episode, we've returned to review Eastern Championship Wrestling and one of their early non-ppv supercards. We also discuss the new Jerry Lawler podcast and the passing of Road Warrior Animal. The review starts around 25:25.

It is very rare to be able to talk to an ECW original. It's even more rare when by original, we mean when ECW meant EASTERN Championship Wrestling. Tonight, we have the honor of interviewing one of those originals, Tommy Cairo. Tommy, like many wrestlers, started out as a bodybuilder. We'll talk about his competitive bodybuilding days and when and how he transitioned from bodybuilder to wrestler. While Tommy is probably most well known to ECW fans for his programs with The Sandman, which also involved Sandman's wife Lori Fullington he also worked quite a bit in Japan, including the almost mythical wrestling-shootfight promotion UWFI. We also have several surprise guests who will be making appearances during the evening. Steve, Katie and Sean are honored to have this wrestling icon joining us and we hope you will enjoy him.
About a year prior to this show, Eastern Championship Wrestling morphed into EXTREME Championship Wrestling, and the rest was history. Before ECW produced pay-per-view events in 1997, they held "Supershows" like this one at the ECW Arena. The card is littered with brutal bloody battles, including a main event between Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. Other matches on the card include Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven and Shane Douglas vs. The Sandman for the ECW World Championship. The middle of the card featured a classic matchup between Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko for the TV Title.Follow the show on Twitter: www.twitter.com/jawpodcastSubscribe to JAW Podcast on Apple, Google, Spotify or your favorite podcast app!

Bay Ragni has always had a strong love for entertainment, whether it was music, movies, or wrestling. His passion for the industry was so strong that Bay always knew he wanted to be involved in some capacity. Bay’s love of pro wrestling led him to eventually joining Eastern Championship Wrestling, a company he would return to after it made the change to the Extreme ECW that is known so well. With this return Bay became known as Chubby Dudley, a member in what was considered the promotions top stable. Years after giving the pro wrestling world a rest, Bay’s love of entertainment would strike again, in the form of his award winning radio show, Totally Driven Entertainment. Which he has evolved into a network with multiple shows and hundreds of episodes and interviews. Bay was recently diagnosed with sarcoidosis, but even given this condition, he continues to push to create memories for himself and with fans, as he continues to produce awesome interviews, spends time with his loving family, and has even returned to the pro wrestling world through commentary and conventions! Bay Ragni joins the DTP to discuss how his love of entertainment led to him becoming a pro wrestler, ECW and Chubby Dudley, Totally Driven Entertainment, living with sarcoidosis, his return to wrestling, and so, so much more!!!

After a bit of an ordeal, we have managed to record another episode of our FIRSTS series, touching on notable wrestling debuts. This one is the first 'ECW' TV show. Way before Paul Heyman arrived on the scene Tod Gordon and co were already making a scene in Eastern Championship Wrestling, whatever that is...
Many people talk about ECW's start w/ their NWA days, but immediately jump to the end of the double cross. What happened in between, though?
