The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE with the purpose of protecting the emperor in his afterlife. The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BCE, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong County, outside Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. The figures vary in height according to their roles, the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots and horses. Estimates from 2007 were that the three pits containing the Terracotta Army held more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which remained buried in the pits near Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum. Also, uh, end-of-round bonuses are cool and change incentives. 00:02:13 Splendor: Duel, Splendor00:03:01 It's a Wonderful World, Race for the Galaxy00:03:18 Skymines, Obsession00:03:47 Frosthaven00:05:54 Harvest, Empyreal: Spells & Steam, Argent: The Consortium00:08:28 FEATURE REVIEW Terracotta Army00:08:37 Origins: First Builders, Nemesis, Lords of Hellas00:09:31 Frostpunk00:10:21 Underwater Cities00:31:38 Bunny Kingdom00:38:09 Tekhenu00:39:07 Verdant00:39:25 FEATURE DISCUSSION End-of-Round Objectives00:43:28 Terra Mystica, Gaia Project, Terra Nova00:46:19 Barrage00:47:33 Wonderland's War00:50:32 THE CONTEST: Win Ark NovaJoin us in the conversation on discord: https://tinyurl.com/2wood4wheatAsk us a question at TwoWoodForAWheat@gmail.comLeave us a review on Apple podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/two-wood-for-a-wheat/id1447901771Read Tony's blog: https://boardgamegeek.com/user/maxlongstreet/blogsThanks to God Street Wine for our intro and outro music: https://www.facebook.com/GodStreetWine/

In this deliberately 156th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, Tom and Matt are poring through the back-catalogue after a lovely afternoon of playing nice games together. We're chugging along in Empyreal: Spells & Steam before literally obliterating hundreds of invaders in Spirit Island. It's a tonal soufflé! I will not elaborate further. Have a lovely weekend, folks! On this bloated episode of Two Wood for a Wheat, we're reviewing the extremely large box that's been sitting on my shelf. It's Trey Chambers' Empyreal: Spells & Steam. Do train games and magic malevolent powers wet your whistle? Then it's the most excessive Kickstarter campaigns, components, and all around useless things that nobody asked for but millions of people paid for. We discuss Kickstarter bloat. Marc, Matt, and Orion are joined by Trey Chambers, designer of Argent: The Consortium, Harvest, and Empyreal: Spells and Steam (now on kickstarter!). We hit all of the important topics: whether dogs or cats are better podcast mascots, dreams about Stefan Feld, and how long you can ramble on a tanget after the end of the podcast before you inadvertently begin a second podcst. Also some stuff about Trey's games. Empyreal is only on kickstarter for a couple more days. It looks wild. Check it out! Also play Harvest because it's seriously legit and seems to have slipped under the radar. In the show Ted Lasso (possibly the subject of a future Masterpiece Theatre?), French-Canadian goaltender Zoreaux asks to be called Van Damme. This is partly because people kept mispronouncing his name as "Zorro," and also because he admired the Muscles from Brussels. The point is that even people who thought it was stupid respected his wishes and called him what he wanted to be called, because that's what not being a jerk is. Similarly, ain't nothing necessarily wrong with being called Sally, but if you consistently call someone Sally when they don't want to be called that, you're being a toxic jerk. It doesn't have to be a big deal, and we're not the ones making it a big deal. Call people what they want to be called. It costs you nothing and decency is always a good look.Games Played Last Week:00:49 -Hot Lead (Reiner Knizia, Bitewing Games, 2022)02:49 -Masters of the Universe: Fields of Eternia The Board Game (Dave Ketch and Jakub S.
