Hello everyone, as Travis stated in the beginning the first category the audio has some issues. A Microphone has a loose part so a bumping noise is magnified during movement.Luckily this is caught after Best Film then the rest of the cast doesn't have that audio. So if you can get through the first category the rest is mostly smooth sailing.Enjoy Ad-Free, Early, & Exclusive Episodes! https://www.patreon.com/GeekVerseSupport Our Patreon To Help Us Grow The Podcast and Create New Content Guest On Shows, Pick Films For Us To Review, Send Topics & More!GeekVerse.ca is where you can find all the info on the show and where you can find it!Come Chat With The Hosts, Join Our Discord! https://discord.gg/yFwsFEJcBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geekverse-podcast--4201268/support.

Please consider nominating us for best podcast in the golden geek awards on BGG. In this week's episode. Jake and Brendan talk about revisiting games. What causes us to dust off and revisit a game after it has been on the shelf for some time? Are there some qualities that make a game more revisitable than others? Is revisitability even a word? Don't answer that last question. After an initial discussion, Jake and Brendan dive into some games that they have been revisiting lately and there experiences with them. The beginning. Ever wondered what a smash hit, worldwide sensation of a podcast sounds like on it's inaugural voyage into the unknown audio sphere of the listener's auditory orifices? Cultisti! Golden Geek awards. We are honored to be nominated alongside a ton of great podcasts. Good luck to everyone nominated in all categories! This weeks episode is something of an experiment. We are trying out a new deep dive format, where we provide our review and decision space exploration for Messina 1347 and reserve the second half of the episode for a related topical discussion on overcentralizing mechanisms (closely related to overcentralizing strategy and/or dominant strategy). We are trying to make sure that our deep dive episodes offer something to all of our listeners, even if you are unfamiliar and/or uninterested in Messina 1347. We'd love to hear your thoughts on how this went, and all feedback will absolutely be considered for future deep dive episodes! There are many ways that we can accidentally contribute to gatekeeping in the hobby - pushing those who want to embrace it away. Hey, sorry we're late! We had the craziest three weeks as a team, but we are all here (hopefully, David will survive The Great Flood, but we're getting ahead of ourselves). In this episode, after the Standee Catch-up (1:11), the team tackles Golden Geek 2020 winners with a round of very unrehearsed opinions (17:00), then Alessio introduces us to the wonderful world of trick-taking with The Crew: The Quest of Planet Nine (49:29), in sight of the summer release of its new iteration, and Fen talks about Wild Assent (62:51), which is about to get a reprint + expansion campaign on GameFound! It was up for many of the biggest gaming awards such as the Mensa Award, Spiel der Spiele Hit für Familien, Golden Geek, and others! Peter talks about the success of the game and the creation of two expansions that add more depth, and the decision to take on a co-designer for developing these and other future expansions. Dan has been gaming since his mid-teens, although he became really immersed in the hobby about seven years ago. He has been making videos together with his daughter Cora for the Dice Tower for about four years, reviewing children's and family board games. And during lockdown they both decided that they would have a go at designing a board game themselves. Dan also co-hosts the Golden Geek nominated podcast Sporadically Board with Mike and Dan. He also created and is the former host of the Golden Geek nominated podcast This Game is Broken. Chris and Jay discuss Wingspan's wild success in the 2019 Golden Geek awards and whether there is any problem with the breadth of the games wins across multiple categories.
Matt and Jon travel back in time to check out the evolution of the Golden Geek Awards.
In this Pod Solo Gaby discusses the Golden Geek's, murder hornet's, the Snob's Facebook group, the Snobbies game of the year, Coffee Roaster's app versus the game and more! Enjoy! Congrats to Wingspan's Elizabeth Hargrave and Heavy Cardboard on their wins!!

In the show Ted Lasso (possibly the subject of a future Masterpiece Theatre?), French-Canadian goaltender Zoreaux asks to be called Van Damme. This is partly because people kept mispronouncing his name as "Zorro," and also because he admired the Muscles from Brussels. The point is that even people who thought it was stupid respected his wishes and called him what he wanted to be called, because that's what not being a jerk is. Similarly, ain't nothing necessarily wrong with being called Sally, but if you consistently call someone Sally when they don't want to be called that, you're being a toxic jerk. It doesn't have to be a big deal, and we're not the ones making it a big deal. Call people what they want to be called. It costs you nothing and decency is always a good look.Games Played Last Week:00:49 -Hot Lead (Reiner Knizia, Bitewing Games, 2022)02:49 -Masters of the Universe: Fields of Eternia The Board Game (Dave Ketch and Jakub S.
