The Work of the Spirit “I did not tell you these things at the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am going to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 Rather, sorrow has filled your heart because I have told you these things. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 When He comes, He will convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I am going to My Father, and you will see Me no more; 11 and of judgment, because the ruler of this world stands condemned. 12 “I have yet many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own authority. But He will speak whatever He hears, and He will tell you things that are to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will receive from Me and will declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is Mine. Therefore I said that He will take what is Mine and will declare it to you. JOHN 16

6 When they had gone through the whole island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a Jewish false prophet, whose name was Bar-Jesus, 7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (which is his name by interpretation) opposed them, trying to divert the proconsul from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, stared at him and said, 10 “You son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, full of deceit and of all fraud, will you not cease perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11 Now, look! The hand of the Lord is against you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell on him, and he went about seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed and was astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

In this teaching from John chapter 4 we see a glimpse of the most missional person who ever walked the earth, Jesus, engage in a simple evangelistic conversation. We see Jesus press pass the social and cultural barriers of the 1st century to evangelize a Samaritan woman through a simple conversation.

Evangelsim Week 3 by St. Johns Church of God

The Apostle Paul's ministry was a stewardship given to him by God for the sake of others. And it involved suffering and struggles in which he had to endure to fulfill his mission of making the word of God known to the Gentiles. Followers of Christ can expect suffering and struggles as well. And they too should see themselves as stewards of the gospel message and seek to be faithful messengers.
