The Everett AquaSox's home for 40 years, Funko Field, is no longer in compliance with new stadium regulations implemented when Major League Baseball took over the minor leagues in 2020. Now the city of Everett is exploring a replacement stadium that could cost up to $120 million. The city isn't shouldering the whole burden of this stadium, the state has chipped in money, along with Snohomish County, and AquaSox ownership has pledged $5 to $10 million. The city estimates that a new stadium downtown could generate up to $55 million dollars a year, whether that makes the stadium a good investment is up for debate. Hello Seattle Mariners fans! John Trupin, Kate Preusser are joined by Lookout Landing prospect expert Max Ellingsen on July 13th to talk future stars at the halfway point in the minor league season. Max has been spending time watching the Everett Aquasox, getting to see the much heralded Lazaro Montes and Michael Arroyo in person. Max remarks on improved athleticism and movement from our future star and Kate points out that Lazaro has unfairly been given the “big boy” speed tax based on his size. Kate says Aidan Smith in the fourth round was the Mariners biggest draft steal in recent years, next to Logan Evans and Brandon Garcia. The gang reflects on the Fangraphs prospect rankings and the differences in perception on some of the higher profile names (Arroyo, Ford, Morales). Finally we shift to looking at the draft and a world of possible selections. Does the team add young arms to begin the next rotation? Could a surprise college bat make an impact right away? Which teams might be looking to draft similar players and could foil the plot? https://mybookie.website/MeetAtTheMitt TWITTER LINKS: https://twitter.com/MeetattheMitt https://twitter.com/LookoutLanding https://twitter.com/JohnTrupin https://twitter.com/KatePreusser https://twitter.com/EvanJamesAudio https://twitter.com/AndersJorstad https://twitter.com/RealZachMason https://x.com/EllingsenMax18 https://macdougallbats.com/ We are partnering with MY BOOKIE to give you an extra 50% on your first deposit! Good news, as we slowly get back to normal: The Mariners have announced that those who are fully vaccinated can go maskless at games. Speaking of the M's, they had a great weekend, winning three of four against Cleveland. Kelenic had a huge night on Friday, but not so much the rest of the series. That's okay though. Every at-bat is a must-watch, and he clearly has the confidence to not get rattled. He's only going to get better. So what about the next wave of prospects working their way to the Majors. We check in with the Everett AquaSox voice Pat Dillon, and Mike Curto, voice of the Rainiers to find out how players on their respective clubs are doing. We just saw a great opening weekend in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We recap it on the Power Play. Today's Something Good is Brad Marchand? Really? Yes, he's done something that doesn't make people hate him.

0:00-6:00 – We introduce our guest, sportswriter Josh Horton of the Everett Herald. Josh covers the AquaSox during the summer, making him arguably the most qualified person on earth to do an episode about the Mariners’ affiliate in Everett. 6:00-16:00 – How do the AquaSox adjust to life in Everett? Which of the players have the most unique stories? Who plays the role of translator for the AquaSox’ Spanish-speaking players? Kate points out the Mariners’ promotion strategies when it comes to challenging their prospects. 16:15-25:00 – Austin Shenton talk! Josh has seen him play, in person! We run through some of the less-heralded players in Everett who have stood out in their first month of pro ball. What sort of skills should we look for in the low levels of the minor leagues? Also, son of Beef Dad is discussed. 25:10-33:20 – The AquaSox fired their manager, and that’s about all we know. As Josh tells us, there’s lots of secrecy around this team. He can also confirm that the Northwest League gets chippy, and the championship was once won on a walk-off balk. 33:30-44:00 – What is the best name on the AquaSox roster? There are legitimately too many to choose from. Damon Casetta-Stubbs is an interesting high-ceiling guy that many fans aren’t paying attention to. And at long last, some love for Trent Tingelstad and Carter Bins. What is the best between-innings game or promotion at Funko Field? 45:45-1:01:55 – Robinson Canó stories! Believe it or not, the Mets legend was once an Everett AquaSox. How creepy is Webbly the Frog? Is Webbly in cahoots with The Rainforest Café? Stop making the “When are they getting traded?” joke about all of our baseball children!!!
