The Houston Astros had three pitchers combine to throw the first no-hitter of the season. Does it mean you can now trust Tatsuya Imai? Corey Pieper breaks down the top injury news, studs and duds, the Bullpen Report segment, and the FanDuel Bet of the Day. On the injury front, the White Sox designated Jarred Kelenic for assignment to pave the way for Nishida, while the Blue Jays officially placed ace Dylan Cease on the 15-day IL with a hamstring strain and hold Vladimir Guerrero Jr. out with elbow soreness. Meanwhile, Cole Ragans has been shut down for 2-3 days. In studs and duds, Jacob Misiorowski put on a masterclass by striking out 12 over seven frames, and Colton Cowser hit a walk-off home run for the second consecutive day. Conversely, Tanner Bibee got completely annihilated for seven earned runs while surrendering an egregious five home runs. Curtis Mead and Jarred Kelenic try to force their way onto the White Sox bench, while Jonathan Cannon looks to snag an unexpected rotation spot. Do they have a legit shot, or does the option of one young pitcher signal that Spring Training results may not be the deciding factor when the 26-man roster is set? Chuck Garfien's Spring Training Podcast-pa-looza rolls on with White Sox non-roster invitee Jarred Kelenic, who explains why signing with the South Side felt like the right move at this stage of his career. The Waukesha, Wisconsin, native reflects on growing up playing ball in the Chicago area, handling the spotlight as a former top-10 prospect, and the whirlwind path that took him from being drafted by the New York Mets to a blockbuster trade involving Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz that sent him to the Seattle Mariners. Kelenic opens up about the adversity and growth that have shaped his confidence today, why he believes he's always swung the bat well at Rate Field and Wrigley Field, and how those experiences fuel his belief in what he can bring to the club. He also shares his outlook on what the 2026 White Sox could become and the role he hopes to carve out moving forward.
The guys discuss a new analytical approach from the White Sox front office and ask if that's why the team seems to be hyping Jarred Kelenic this week. Sure he has a new swing, but is that enough to prevent another outfielder from joining the team before Spring Training? More national lists are also coming out, and one has a young Sox player in the Top 100 in all of MLB for the first time. Plus, the Sox Nerd explains why he held back a nugget from the scoreboard during Mark Buehrle's perfect game. Video version now available on YouTube! Hey Sox fans! We're living in a Bears dominated world but we try to scratch out a little White Sox chatter in the middle of January. There are some names out there that could fit in with where the Sox are heading but do you want to see a reunion with Moncada or Giolito? SoxFest is coming up in a few weeks? What questions do you have for upper management? Thank you for the continued support. Go Sox. #WhiteSox
