It's been one year since Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez moved to Paris to take on the role of creative director at the craft-focused brand Loewe, and the duo is still adjusting to their new life in the City of Lights. “I'd hardly call us Parisians,” McCollough said. “We've got a lot of work to do with our French.”Linguistic obstacles aside, the pair has already made a big impression with their first two collections, which Hernandez sums up as “taking those codes of American sportswear—like the T-shirt, the jean, the bomber jacket—and then putting them through the filter of high craft, specifically leathercraft.” They've swiftly established principles for their tenure: poppy colors, trompe l'oeil fabric innovations, and sleek silhouettes that marry their American point of view to Loewe's technical capabilities. McCollough and Hernandez made their names two decades ago with their line Proenza Schouler, which helped shape the downtown cool-girl uniform of the era: casual yet elevated, arty without being pretentious. They were very much a part of the fabric of New York's fashion scene, so it was something of a shock when it was announced that they would decamp to Paris for this new adventure. Still, they've taken the challenge head-on, adding a jolt of American ease and fun to the brand. The pair discuss the Loewe Craft Prize, now in its 10th year. The program, run through Loewe's non-profit arm, seeks to elevate craftspeople from various disciplines and has been an eye-opening initiative for the pair to take part in.“It's just so nice to be working at a company that celebrates this kind of thing,” Hernandez said. “I think it's quite rare these days. So it's been very fulfilling.”The Run-Through with Vogue is your go-to podcast where fashion meets culture. Questions - Week 24: Is the Shroud of Turin Genuine?

The Shroud of Turin is a relic housed in the cathedral in Turin Italy and claimed to be the burial cloth of Christ.   The Gospels give us some details: Matthew 27:59-60 ESV "And Joseph (of Arimathea) took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away."  Mark 15:46 ESV "And Joseph bought a linen shroud, and taking Him (Jesus) down, wrapped Him in the linen shroud and laid Him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb." Luke 23:53 ESV "Then he (Joseph) took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid Him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid."  John 19:40 ESV "So they (Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus) took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of Jews."   Shroud of Turin A linen shroud approximately 14 feet long, 3 1/2 feet wide.  Pastor shares a picture of the shroud. It's very hard to discern what shows on the shroud.   But on May 28, 1898 Secondo Pia (1855 - 1941) received permission to take a picture of the shroud. The photographic negative ended up being an image of a man's brutalized face.  He said "I think I may have been the first person in centuries to see the face of Jesus!" In the following years many others have used developing technologies in photography to take photos of the shroud. Pastor shares his pictures and how it shows the person has been crucified and brutally whipped with over 300 lacerations.  Many people have asked the last 100+ years if this is indeed Jesus.   Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP) a group came to examine and test the Shroud 1978 - 40 U.S. scientists, multiple institutions and laboratories. Went to Turin Italy - 5 days, 122 hours, to study the shroud, fully expected to find a forgery Tests- large variety of tests and equipment And in the following years 1978-1981 they spent an additional 100,000 - 150,000 hours of intensive study on the results of their testing. And made their final report in 1981.   1981 STURP Report Findings Image is on the top surface of linen fibers. The image is only .2 - .7 microns - that's several hundred times thinner than a human hair) Identity - it is the image of a scourged and crucified man. Approx 5' 11" tall around 178 lbs.  Origin - No evidence of paint of pigment Bloodstains were found of hemoglobin + serum albumin - which is evidence of a person having been horrifically tortured. 3D data - used a VP8 Image Analyzer (developed for the space program) and discovered that what is recorded on the shroud had 3 dimensional properties. Mechanism - how was it produced - unknown   For an insider's view of the study "Report on the Shroud of Turin" published in 1983 by John Herbert Heller. (A member of the Shroud team). The book caused many questions to start emerging. Pastor shares an article "On the Physical Death of Jesus Christ" from the JAMA Journal of the American Medical Association from March 21, 1986, Volume 256 and the impact that article had on him.   Pastor goes further into the continued testing over the years. Here are the latest results: 2013 - (FTIR) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy indicated the Shroud was 2,000 years old 2013 - Raman Spectroscopy also reported the Shroud to be 2,000 years old 2022 - (WAXS) Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering was used and it showed the Shroud to be 2,000 years old.   Research continues: Physicist Paolo di Lazaro and team at ENEA Labs, after 5 years and hundred of failed attempts to reproduce an image like the shroud, concluded that to make the imprint on the Shroud it would take 34 trillion watts of radiant energy for 1/40 billionths of a second. (An energy level greater than all the energy plants in the world combined)   Final Observations: 2000 year old Linen Shroud Crown of Thorns Abrasions on shoulders from carrying Crossbeam Nailed to the cross, not tied Has a side wound, no broken bones Rushed burial - as body was not washed Brief entombment    Could this be the burial shroud of Jesus? Pastor shares an interesting quote from the book by Heller and then shares that he believes it is certainly possible that this is the burial shroud of Jesus!      Now What? Hna. Maria Ruth  Radio Paulinas Boston

TV isn't just for billion-dollar brands anymore. And if you still think it is, you're already behind. In this new mini-series brought to you by Tatari, Daniel sits down with Donna Lazaro (Senior Director of Brand Media at Gabb) and Anna O'Neill (Customer Success Team Lead, Platform at Tatari), to break down how modern brands are using linear and connected TV to drive real, measurable growth. From why Gabb added TV in 2023 to scale awareness and credibility, to treating TV like a performance channel instead of just a brand play, they unpack what TV actually looks like in 2026 and beyond. They dive into creative testing, halo impact across Meta and Google, measuring incrementality, scaling during moments like back-to-school and holiday, and why consistent brand presence wins long-term. If you're a marketer wondering whether TV is still out of reach (or how to make it measurable and performance-driven) this is the episode for YOU. Tatari helps brands run TV like a modern performance channel. Unlike most platforms that focus only on programmatic CTV, Tatari gives marketers access to all of TV - linear, streaming, programmatic CTV, and direct publisher inventory - in one platform. By combining premium inventory with transparent reporting and outcome-based measurement, Tatari lets growth teams evaluate TV the same way they evaluate paid search or paid social. The result: more control, better reach, and TV spend that can actually be tied back to business results. Part 2 of 2: In our conclusion to the Baby Lollipops case, we examine the final months of three-year-old Lazaro Figueroa's life, the investigation that followed his discovery, and the decades-long pursuit of justice that saw his mother convicted three separate times.VICTIM PROFILE:Lazaro Figueroa never had a chance at a normal childhood. Born in September 1987, just weeks after his father, drug dealer Fidel Figueroa, was murdered in Miami, Lazaro became the target of his mother's resentment as her lavish lifestyle collapsed. At three years old, he weighed only eighteen pounds, half what a healthy child his age should weigh. His left arm had been broken so many times that muscle tissue calcified into bone, freezing the limb at a permanent ninety-degree angle. Despite the relentless abuse, witnesses recalled him running across streets alone, a tiny figure navigating a hostile world without protection.THE CRIME:On the morning of November 2, 1990, Florida Power and Light employees discovered Lazaro's body hidden beneath bushes outside a Miami Beach mansion. His emaciated frame bore forty-three documented injuries: cigarette burns, defensive wounds on his small hands, a fractured skull, and two front teeth knocked out months apart. Brown packing tape secured a soiled diaper to his wasted body. Medical examiner Dr. Bruce Hyma determined Lazaro had endured eighteen months of systematic torture, including being bound, gagged, locked in closets, and left in bathtubs with scalding or freezing water. The cause of death was blunt force trauma from a baseball bat, compounded by starvation and extensive bodily trauma. Most devastating: Lazaro may have survived up to three days after being abandoned, lying alone and helpless before death finally came.THE INVESTIGATION:Police initially could not identify the child and dubbed him Baby Lollipops after the cartoon candy pattern on his T-shirt. The nickname stuck as investigators canvassed Miami Beach with flyers. On November 6, Martha Fleitas recognized the photograph on television and identified Lazaro. The investigation led to his mother, Ana Maria Cardona, and her partner Olivia Gonzalez Mendoza, who had fled to St. Cloud, Florida, stopping at Disney World after disposing of the body. Neighbor Mercedes Estrada reported hearing screams on Halloween night followed by a heavy thump against her wall, then silence. Her report to social services went unanswered.CURRENT STATUS:Ana Maria Cardona's path through the courts spanned nearly three decades. She was sentenced to death in 1992, but the conviction was overturned in 2002 due to a Brady violation. Convicted and sentenced to death again in 2011, that conviction was overturned in 2016 for prosecutorial misconduct. In 2017, prosecutors waived the death penalty, and Cardona was found guilty a third time, receiving life without parole. Judge Miguel de la O told her that wild beasts show more empathy for their offspring. Olivia Gonzalez Mendoza served fourteen years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Cardona's eldest son, Juan Puente, died in prison in 2018 at age thirty-seven. The only publicly available photograph of Lazaro Figueroa shows him in death.RESOURCES:Learn more about this case at mythsandmalice.com/show/obscuraSupport Obscura: https://www.patreon.com/obscuracrimepodcast/Our Sponsors:* Check out BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.com* Check out Chime: https://chime.com/OBSCURA* Check out Progressive: https://www.progressive.com* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code OBSCURA20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/obscura-a-true-crime-podcast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

On November 2, 1990, Florida Power and Light workers discovered the emaciated body of a small child hidden in the bushes of a wealthy Miami Beach home. The boy, dressed only in a lollipop-decorated T-shirt and a soiled diaper wrapped in brown packing tape, had been beaten, starved, and systematically tortured. He weighed just eighteen pounds. This is part one of the story of how a mother's resentment turned deadly.VICTIM PROFILE:Lazaro Figueroa was born September 18, 1987, into what should have been a life of comfort. His father, Fidel Figueroa, was a well-connected drug dealer who kept his family in a lavish penthouse overlooking Biscayne Bay. But fate intervened before Lazaro ever drew breath. Just two days after his birth, his father was executed in a gangland-style shooting outside a Miami riverfront bar. The murder was never solved. From that moment forward, Lazaro became the target of his mother's displaced rage, blamed for the loss of everything she had.THE CRIME:Ana Maria Cardona's abuse of Lazaro began shortly after he was returned to her custody from foster care in late 1988. Over the next eighteen months, she systematically starved, beat, and confined her son in conditions the Dade County Medical Examiner would later call the worst child abuse he had ever witnessed. Lazaro spent weeks locked in closets and tied to beds. His arm was broken and left untreated, eventually becoming fixed at a ninety-degree angle. His two front teeth were knocked out. Cardona wrapped duct tape around his diapers to avoid changing them, leaving his skin raw with bedsores. On October 31, 1990, Cardona beat Lazaro with a baseball bat, fracturing his skull. She then dumped his dying body in the bushes of a Miami Beach mansion and fled the state with her girlfriend, Olivia Gonzalez, stopping at Disney World before their arrest.THE INVESTIGATION:Miami Beach police initially could not identify the battered child, dubbing him Baby Lollipops after his T-shirt. Detectives conducted door-to-door interviews in English and Spanish and distributed flyers throughout the community. The break came when a neighbor who had occasionally cared for Lazaro recognized him from police bulletins. The investigation led detectives to Ana Maria Cardona and Olivia Gonzalez, who had fled to central Florida. Both women were arrested within weeks. Gonzalez eventually testified that Cardona had called Lazaro the son of the devil and blamed him for her descent from riches to rags.CURRENT STATUS:Ana Maria Cardona has been convicted of first-degree murder three times. Her first two death sentences were overturned by the Florida Supreme Court on procedural grounds. In 2017, she was convicted for the third time and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Olivia Gonzalez served fourteen years for her role in Lazaro's abuse and has since been released.RESOURCES:Learn more about this case at https://www.mythsandmalice.com/show/obscura/Support Obscura: https://www.patreon.com/obscuracrimepodcast/Our Sponsors:* Check out Chime: https://chime.com/OBSCURA* Check out Kensington Publishing: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com* Check out Mind of a Monster: The Killer Nurse: https://podcasts.apple.com* Check out Mood and use my code OBSCURA for a great deal: https://mood.com* Check out Progressive: https://www.progressive.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/obscura-a-true-crime-podcast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We also discuss Spotify's acquisition, what it was like integrating into big tech, and the launch of audiobooks to hundreds of millions of listeners. Ralph walks us through the INaudio spinout process — buying back the very business he helped grow inside Spotify — and what it's been like stepping back into the founder's seat. From building a new team and intentionally shaping its culture around past lessons and personal philosophies, to navigating the evolving audiobook industry with new competitors and technologies, Ralph offers thoughtful insights into INaudio's mission as “the world's audiobook partner.” He also reflects on entrepreneurship, Cleveland as a place to build, and how his definition of success has evolved.Ralph brings incredible energy, humility, and earned wisdom to this conversation, and I'm grateful to share it with you.00:00:00 - The Findaway Journey Begins00:08:42 - Transitioning from Spotify to Findaway 2.000:16:53 - Exploring Opportunities in Audio00:24:31 - The Evolving Audiobook Landscape00:35:55 - Navigating Leadership Transitions00:41:47 - Lessons from Spotify00:46:56 - Optimizing for Growth00:54:25 - The Future of Audiobooks01:03:14 - The Importance of Leadership in Career Growth01:04:40 - Hidden Gem-----LINKS:https://www.linkedin.com/in/ralph-lazaro/https://www.inaudio.com/-----SPONSOR:Roundstone InsuranceRoundstone Insurance is proud to sponsor Lay of The Land. Full Text of ReadingsMemorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus Lectionary: 402/607The Saint of the day is Saints Martha, Mary, and LazarusSaints Martha, Mary and Lazarus’ story Martha, Mary, and their brother Lazarus were evidently close friends of Jesus. He came to their home simply as a welcomed guest, rather than as one celebrating the conversion of a sinner like Zacchaeus or one unceremoniously received by a suspicious Pharisee. The sisters felt free to call on Jesus at their brother's death, even though a return to Judea at that time seemed to spell almost certain death. Martha's great glory is her simple and strong statement of faith in Jesus after her brother's death. “Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?' She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world'” (John 11:25-27). No doubt Martha was an active sort of person. On one occasion, she prepares the meal for Jesus and possibly his fellow guests and forthrightly states the obvious: All hands should pitch in to help with the dinner. The Lord recognizes that Martha is “worried about many things,” also noting that Mary, who has spent the preparation time at Jesus' feet listening to his words “has chosen the better part.” John 12:1-8 describes Mary's anointing of Jesus' feet at Bethany, an act which he praised highly. Immediately after we are told that the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus “because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him.” Lazarus was the one of whom the Jews said, “See how much he loved him.” In their sight Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from the dead. Legends abound about the life of Lazarus after the death and resurrection of Jesus. He is supposed to have left a written account of what he saw in the next world before he was called back to life. Some say he followed Peter into Syria. Another story is that despite being put into a leaking boat by the Jews at Jaffa, he, his sisters, and others landed safely in Cyprus. There he died peacefully after serving as bishop for 30 years. It is certain there was early devotion to the saint. Around the year 390, the pilgrim lady Etheria talks of the procession that took place on the Saturday before Palm Sunday at the tomb where Lazarus had been raised from the dead. In the West, Passion Sunday was called Dominica de Lazaro, and Augustine tells us that in Africa the Gospel of the raising of Lazarus was read at the office of Palm Sunday. Reflection In its 2021 decree on combining veneration of Mary and Lazarus with Martha, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments said, “In the household of Bethany, the Lord Jesus experienced the family spirit and friendship of Martha, Mary and Lazarus, and for this reason the Gospel of John states that he loved them. Martha generously offered him hospitality, Mary listened attentively to his words and Lazarus promptly emerged from the tomb at the command of the one who humiliated death.” Saint Martha is a Patron Saint of: CooksHomemakersRestaurant servers Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus are Patron Saints of: Siblings Click here for more on Mary and Martha! Happy Monday, Everyone! If you need any of this explained, you're not alone. The term “Immersive” basically means that instead of watching the music video on your TV oron a movie screen, you're watching it on a virtual reality headset. Got it? Because I am too darn busy at the festival to enjoy the VR Pavillion for myself, David Lazaro came over to my home, showed me “Freaky Friday” on his Meta Quest 3, and BLEW MY MIND.                                It is simply amazing. In around 4 minutes I went from being a person who never considered getting a VR headset to being a person who shouted for his wife and teenager to both watch “Freaky Friday” before David went home with his amazing work. And guess what? David is also a kickass person and awesome conversationalist who gave a great interview. Hna.
