Send us Fan MailThis was another good episode. And another good build up to Tumbleton. Both sides took a big loss. The greens lost Crispy and the Blacks lost the Seas Snake, but not from death. We saw the beginning of a relationship with Baela and Alyn, as well as Alys and Eyemond and possibly the end of a relationship with Hugh and his wife. Daemo found the killer responsible for the deaths of the gold Cloaks and he embarrassed the hell out of Ulf...again. Rhaena is back in the Vale being a nuisance and Alicat and Rhaenyra are still playing cat and mouse. Episode 5 of Season 3 of House of the Dragon had a whole lot going on. And, for the most part, they pulled it all off quite well. There is tension building between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Meanwhile, Aemond, with the help of Alys, is recovering his strength and confidence at Harrenhall. Ditto for Aegon, whose worldview is significantly challenged by Larys. Though she proclaims victory and aims for a brighter future, Rhaenyra is overwhelmed by problems of the moment and haunted by ghosts of the past. There's an ominous soundtrack and a familiar theme presented as a double edged sword… Like Maester Aemon told Jon Snow and his brother Egg, to become a man you must kill the boy. It's a metaphor for growing into a ruler, but for Rhaenyra it is also quite literal… and the boy is Alicent's child. Until she discovers simultaneously that he's not Daeron, and the war is not over. Daemon forces the Hightowers to yield and takes Daeron as his ward. Rhaenyra has taken the throne and it immediately appears she is overwhelmed. There are problems coming at her immediately from every angle and the mistakes are obvious. Rhae knights the bastards, but does not legitimize Addam as a Velyarian and this will have ongoing issues. We discuss taking out Daeron without true confirmation.
