On this week's episode, the guys kick things off by diving into a lively discussion about Joe's recent completion of the thrilling adventure game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This cinematic experience has left Joe buzzing with excitement, as he shares his thoughts on the game's intricate plot, stunning visuals, and the nostalgic elements that are a hallmark of the Indiana Jones franchise. Following this, Cody chimes in with his own cinematic journey, recounting his decision to rewatch the critically acclaimed science fiction film Interstellar. This leads to a fascinating conversation about the varying quality of content available on AppleTV compared to other streaming platforms, as they analyze the differences in production values, storytelling techniques, and overall viewer engagement that each platform offers. As the conversation unfolds, Joe drops a surprising piece of news on Cody: Cillian Murphy, known for his captivating performances, will not be reprising his role in the highly anticipated first installment of the new 28 Years Later movie trilogy. This revelation sparks a spirited debate about the implications of casting decisions in film franchises and how they can impact audience expectations and the overall narrative arc. The guys then pivot to an intriguing topic that has been on the minds of many film enthusiasts: the conspicuous absence of news regarding a new James Bond movie since MGM's acquisition by Amazon. They explore the potential reasons behind this silence, considering the complexities of studio politics, the impact of the pandemic on film production schedules, and the shifting landscape of cinematic storytelling in a post-pandemic world. In an unexpected twist, Cody leads Joe down an exciting new path that delves into the expansive universe of The Dark Tower series, which has captivated readers for decades. This discussion seamlessly transitions into a conversation about Stephen King's collaboration with Peter Straub on the novel Black House. They dissect the themes, characters, and the intricate connections to the broader mythology that King has crafted throughout his works. To wrap up the episode on a thought-provoking note, Cody shares insights about another of Stephen King's gripping novels, The Long Walk. He elaborates on the novel's dystopian themes, its exploration of human endurance, and the moral dilemmas faced by its characters. This closing discussion leaves listeners with much to ponder about the nature of storytelling and the profound impact of King's literary contributions.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy

Send us a Text Message.Stephen King is back! What other intro do you need? Okay, fine. He talks to me about the stories behind the stories in his new collection, You Like it Darker. I had the audacity to ask him “where he got some of his ideas.” He also updates us on the potential of a third Jack Sawyer book, to follow The Talisman and Black House. He hints at what's next from him, and Holly Gibney. He gives a perspective on his view from the top of the horror pyramid, and I finally get to ask him about a beloved-yet-underappreciated novel. Is that enough for you, or do I need go on? Thought not… Thanks for listening – and enjoy. Today, Darkness Radio is Encountering Anton LaVey and The Church of Satan with Carl Abrahamsson! Carl Abrahamsson was a young man in Sweden who quickly became fascinated by the magic act of Anton LaVey and his appearances in different occult magazines in his native land. He went from creating a fanzine and band, to making a song dedicated to LaVey to soon interacting with him and getting contributions of articles from LaVey to Carl's Newsletter. Carl then struck up a friendship with LaVey towards the end of his life that gave him a unique retrospective of the man behind the Church of Satan. Carl Abrahamsson joins us today to talk about that relationship, the legacy he has left behind, and what made LaVey the cult of personality that he was.
