Okay so... What are we actually doing here?In light of a semi-baffling narrative reversal in the way of character competence — plot coherence too perhaps — Ebube invites Afam and Soonen for some much needed analysis, and to figure out if House of the Dragon still knows what it's doing this seasonThey start by discussing Aegon's new path to resurrection (2:27) and proceed to dissect the episode's themes as well as litigate Rhaenyra's competence as a ruler (21:15) and give Mysaria a quarterly review she might not like (26:16).They of course also try to make sense of the generational dragon mosh pit that left them with several questions (31:11), before trying to decipher Helaena's dreams (1:00:34) and watch the weird inhabitants of Tumbleton at work (1:09:12).Does this penultimate episode work? You can support us here. Also available on YouTube.Host: Ebube UbochiGuests: Afam and SoonenProduction by: Ebube Ubochi

It's almost like 'House of the Dragon' finally remembered how to play the game of thrones. With key characters making the competent moves Ebube always knew they were capable of, he returns to the fold to convene his council of competent analysts: Afam and Soonen. Now that Criston Cole's fate is sealed, they might have to find someone else they can love to hate. They begin with a full retrospective on the enigma that is Ser Criston (2:05) while praising Loni Peristere's impeccable directing (9:09). They then go on to discuss Alicent's new set of troubles (22:28), Rhaenyra's new stressors (32:10) and the chaos that was this week's Tumbleton storyline (44:50). They also talk about Baela's new groove (58:48), Alys' new moves (1:06:28) and what the heck is up with Corlys (1:18:13), among several other pressing matters.Does it get any better than this? You can support us hereAlso Available on YouTube.Host: Ebube UbochiGuests: Afam and SoonenProduction by: Ebube Ubochi

Come reagirà Daemon? Nettles Explained: How House of the Dragon Replaced a Fan-Favorite Character With Rhaena

House of the Dragon Season 3 just made one of its biggest departures yet from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, cutting the fan-favorite dragonseed Nettles entirely and folding her role into Rhaena Targaryen. In this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, we break down who Nettles is in the books, how she claims the wild dragon Sheepstealer, her complicated relationship with Daemon Targaryen, and why showrunner Ryan Condal chose to merge her arc with Rhaena's instead of adapting her directly. We also dig into what this change means for Daemon's redemption arc going forward, and whether the show just skipped past some of the richest material in the source text.**Timestamps**- 0:00 Intro, the big change to House of the Dragon- 0:12 Who is Nettles in the books- 0:28 The showrunner's reasoning for replacing her with Rhaena- 0:49 The Battle of the Gullet aftermath- 1:03 Daemon takes Nettles in as a companion- 1:26 Rhaenyra's paranoia and the hit on Nettles- 1:48 Nettles' fate in the Vale- 2:20 What this means for Daemon's redemption arc- 2:36 Final thoughts and wrap up**Key Takeaways**- Nettles is a lowborn dragonseed who claims the wild dragon Sheepstealer by feeding it dead sheep daily until it trusts her- Showrunner Ryan Condal chose to give her arc to Rhaena Targaryen to keep the story centered on the Targaryen family- Unlike Rhaena in the show, book Nettles was not responsible for Jace's death and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Gullet- Daemon takes Nettles in afterward, teaching her the ways of court, and the book leaves it ambiguous whether their bond is romantic or fatherly- Rhaenyra grows paranoid and puts a bounty on Nettles, forcing Daemon to help her flee- The show's choice to skip this material may cost us the redemption arc for Daemon that the book's ending sets up**Memorable Quotes**"She's a fighter, you know, she grew up tough. She claims Sheepstealer by feeding him dead sheep every day until the dragon trusts her.""Nettles is a great character I think really deserved to be in the show, but I understand making Rhaena more substantial.""He has not been a good dad. He's a terrible dad."**Got Thoughts on This Change?**Do you think replacing Nettles with Rhaena was the right call, or should HBO have found a way to keep both characters? HBO's 'House of the Dragon' is FINALLY back for its third season! But at what cost?Ebube summons Afam and Soonen for a deep dive into a truly pyrrhic victory, dealt at the most pivotal naval battle the realm has ever known, and brace for the inevitable as they evaluate the legacy of Jacaerys Velaryon, as well as take stock of the confusion across the entire board. They discuss the audacity of Alicent's offer and the problems she faces now that her rug's been pulled (6:55), including her relationship with Aemond (12:10) and the schemes of the Hightowers as a whole (44:49). They also talk about the significance of mother-son relationships in the episode (30:28); the insanity of Rhaena's current situation in addition to its potential repercussions (7:45); and the true cost of the Battle of the Gullet (52:14), all before finally introducing Ebube's brand new device: the Adaptometer® (1:15:20).R.I.P to a real one yet again. You can support us hereAlso available on YouTubeHost: Ebube Ubochi Guests: Afam and SoonenProduction by: Ebube Ubochi

They want to make more seasons of that show and I sure like to see that bald child... but they told me I need to finish Winds first. But writing is so hard... and it's my birthday.... maybe I'll kill off Tyrion next. I'm glad I don't have any children so they can't fuck up my legacy. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by the fabulous writer and director RYAN CONDAL!A genuine treat for anyone in the least bit invested in all things Game Of Thrones and House Of The Dragon lore. Pip catches up with someone who is dealing with one of the tasks in recent times, which is showrunning a series with much expectation on its head. With past success and proven track record, turns out the hands it's in are very safe indeed, but nevertheless it is fascinating to hear how the whole thing is assembled and taken from writing room to screen. As you would expect, it takes a long time and there are no shortcuts, but what a pleasure in a time when so many shortcuts are made for us and the path is usually all about speed and quick results. So much goodness for the fans and appreciators in here, and those who are yet to begin their quest (god bless you!). As Ryan says, "We're not going to do the comfortable thing that you expect or want" - if that doesn't excite you, maybe House Of The Dragon isn't for you! On First Concert Memories 34 we welcome friend of the show and 2 time former guest Ryan Condal, Co-Creator and Executive Producer of House of the Dragon, onto our monthly podcast about those special moments growing up when your favorite rock band is everything. Ryan transports us back to New Jersey in the late 1990's when he took his buddies and his little brother to see Rage Against The Machine with openers The Wu Tang Clan. Hear the astute and well read Ryan talk about learning history through the lyrics of Rage Against The Machine and warming up for lacrosse games with it blaring over the field. He espouses about the tones and funky sounds of guitarist Tom Morello laying the foundation for the anti-establishment lyrics from Zack de la Rocha. For Ryan's generation, Rage represented more than just the teenage angst of bands like Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins - they educated kids on why the world was unfair and what they needed to do to change that. As The Wolf and Action Jackson are not only years older than Ryan but their musical tastes always skewed older for their own generation, they loved hearing from Ryan how RATM was such an important factor in molding his musical tastes but also his understanding of the world we live in. In addition to managing House of the Dragon, Ryan also runs a killer podcast - The Stuff That Dreams of Made Of - talking about classic movies, movie memorabilia, props in their collections and so much more. After delivering what possibly amounts to the most disgruntled eulogy of all time, Ebube summons Afam and Soonen through gritted teeth to talk about the loss that's currently hurting him the most, courtesy of this episode — he can't decide whether to love or hate Ira Parker, but stay tuned. They get into the tragedy of how the events unfolded and how it's partly a commentary on class warfare, before breaking down the story beats within the fight and the flashback, as well as the fascinating lore surrounding it. They discuss what's been lost, the significance of the episode's title, what the flashback really shows us about Dunk, and the fact that no good deep goes unpunished in the world of Game of Thrones. We'll all need some time to recover. You can support us hereAlso available on YouTubeHost: Ebube Ubochi Guests: Afam and SoonenProduction by: Ebube Ubochi

Min 4: EL CABALLERO DE LOS SIERE REINOS.

For our 200th episode we wanted to bring in a guest that rock fans would be excited about but someone The Wolf and Action Jackson really admire. After hosting amazing guests on our 50th (Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon), 100th (live review of Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets after interviewing Guy Pratt and Gary Kemp on ep 96), and 150th (Steve Kilbey of The Church) we needed someone special to commemorate this milestone. As luck would have it, legendary guitarist and member of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Steve Howe (Yes, Asia) is releasing his latest solo album, Guitarscape, on September 27 and made himself available to us. As we tried hard not to be complete fanboys, we asked Steve to walk us through how he started building the bones of the album in 2019 thanks to a new Novatron that he'd acquired. We speak with Steve about the different textures of the album from acoustics (Spring Rhyme) to his signature hollow body electrics (Distillations, Passing Thoughts) to his brand new pedal steel (Equinox, Steel Breeze). With his son Dylan on the drums, Steve has put together a colorful palette of textures using his many talents and toys. We also manage to work in some questions about touring with Yes in the US with Deep Purple; however, when we interviewed him the tour was yet to begin, at the time of the release of this episode the tour had concluded. It sounds like there will be more new Yes music and future tours which is wonderful to hear. And, of course, we managed to squeeze in an Asia question because as long time listeners will tell you, it all comes back to Asia. The bottomline is we think you'll love our chat with Steve Howe and encourage you to pick up Guitarscape September 27. And thanks to everyone who's supported us through the first 200 episodes - we have much more in store so stay tuned. If you keep listening, we'll keep doing the show! www.yesofficial.com Ugly American Werewolf in London Website Ugly American Werewolf in London Store - Get your Wolf merch and use code 10OFF2023 to save 10%!
