The Real Reason Our Culture Is Falling Apart. Stephen Meyer Explains. ACU Sunday Series.  Watch this video at- https://youtu.be/al8F1aTY2uY?si=bLweNNnGmJ6hno1B Stephen Meyer 89.9K subscribers 448,356 views Aug 1, 2025 Today's video is a reflection on the 40th anniversary of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's chilling speech, "Men Have Forgotten God." There are many sobering parallels between the collapse of spiritual life in Soviet Russia and today's cultural crisis in America like how the rise of materialism, scientific atheism and nihilistic worldviews are contributing to a decline in faith especially among Gen Z. If you've ever wondered why belief in God seems to be fading, and what can be done about it, this is a conversation you can't afford to miss. ====================================================== Are you interested in the origins of life and the universe? A mother is dead. A neighbor claims fear. But what really drove Susan Lorincz to pull the trigger through a closed door?  In this exclusive conversation, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski. Stacy Cole, and Todd Michaels to dissect the psychology behind The Perfect Neighbor case — where paranoia, entitlement, and grievance collided in one deadly moment. Scott unpacks the behavioral descent that transforms everyday irritation into lethal certainty. Was Lorincz truly afraid, or was “fear” the mask for long-nurtured anger? From chronic irritability and confirmation bias to the self-righteous delusion of being “under siege,” Scott breaks down the cognitive distortions that rewrite reality until violence feels justified. Together, they examine how “stand-your-ground” culture, racialized fear, and emotional dysregulation converge — and what this case reveals about the American obsession with safety at all costs. In episode 217, Max chats with South East Melbourne Phoenix Owner Romie Chaudhari! Romie takes us through constantly moving around the US as a kid, to building a property empire in LA, and now leading one of the NBL's most ambitious clubs. Romie opens up on how growing up moving around the US shaped an emotional detachment from his business ventures - something he says has been both a strength and a weakness. But there's one venture he admits he's deeply connected to: the Phoenix. We dive into his first real estate deal (a three-story apartment he renovated himself), his three key questions before partnering with investors, and his major development projects in Miami. Romie also shares how he initially said no to investing in the Phoenix, the 48-hour deal he struck with Larry Kestelman, and the faith he's placed in Tommy Greer to build the club's foundation. Plus - the story behind turning down LaMelo Ball in 2020, and how Josh King's appointment mid-season last year transformed the team's direction. Send us a textWhat's really behind America's epidemic of violence? While politicians and pundits endlessly debate gun control, they're missing the core issue: untreated mental illness. This raw, unfiltered episode dives headfirst into the uncomfortable truth about who's pulling the trigger and why.The disturbing pattern is clear. From public shootings to random stabbings, perpetrators often have documented histories of psychological instability and concerning behavior that was reported but ignored. Our society has created a perfect storm where warning signs go unheeded, bureaucracy flourishes without saving lives, and mental health treatment remains woefully inadequate compared to physical illnesses. Why do we rush cancer patients through treatment while leaving the mentally ill with nothing but prescriptions and waiting lists? Why can someone make explicit threats online without triggering intervention? The disconnect between our rhetoric about preventing violence and our actions is staggering. The contrast in our cultural responses to tragedy speaks volumes. Some communities respond with prayer and quiet reflection, while others erupt in destructive chaos under the banner of "justice." Public officials who mock victims or celebrate violence face career-ending consequences – and rightfully so (do you want fries with that?). These reactions reveal deeper problem that prevent us from finding common ground.True solutions require looking beyond weapons to the minds wielding them. We must create better systems for identifying and helping troubled individuals before they become dangerous, while maintaining the constitutional rights that protect all citizens. The path forward demands both personal responsibility and community vigilance.Stand up for common sense approaches to violence prevention. Isn't it great when you connect with someone on such a high level, you feel empowered to share your message or thought process with the world? Welcome to the mind behind the podcast, an episode dedicated to overcoming your history, your trauma, and persevering with a positive mindset. I expose ways I find to grow with forgiveness to my core and choose to rise above from who I once was by putting myself first, raw and real, out there for you to feel inspired by, connecting with me on a higher level of understanding within this message. Take a breath before you respond to give your mind a brief moment to think before reacting first. You don't owe anybody an instant response, no matter how uncomfortable your delayed silence might make them feel during the conversation. If you choose to forgive somebody, make sure it's for you and not because of any outside factors at play. Have they also demonstrated the need to be forgiven when they are asking for redemption? There are things in this world that you may not be able to give pardon to.

Their conversation reveals Summer's personal journey, wisdom and the philosophy behind creating content that's reached the top 2.5% of podcasts globally! Through talking about fear, purpose, and healing, Summer shares her thoughts on how inner work creates outer success and why going to ‘war with yourself’ instead of the world leads to true transformation. KEY TAKEAWAYS Courage isn't about fearlessness but taking action despite fear. Summer started Inner Wealth at just 18, acknowledging it was scary to speak on profound topics so young, but that self-belief and purpose carried her through potential criticism. Success requires patience and dedication. What appears as overnight success for Summer, actually involved an entire year of podcasting before gaining traction and ten years of personal development to build the wisdom shared in each episode. Adversity should be reframed as working in your favour. When challenges arise, adopting the perspective that this is helping me somehow creates growth. Healing requires self accountability. Summer talks about why true change comes from stopping the blame of external circumstances and recognising that you must ‘go to war with yourself’ instead of with the world. Balance may not be necessary for passion driven work. Summer admits she doesn't balance being 20 with being a role model well, she's immersed in her work. Divine connection transforms perspective, connecting to a higher power, whether through religion, nature, or other personally meaningful practices, changes how we experience life's challenges. Authenticity creates unique value and the fastest path to success is being genuinely yourself, rather than trying to be the next Oprah. Service to others is the ultimate fulfilment. Serving others is both the most human and spiritual act. BEST MOMENTS "People think courage is not being fearful, but I disagree, courage is doing something despite being fearful. It's facing it head on." "Go to war with yourself and connect with divine and I can promise you your life will change." "When anything goes wrong in my life now, the immediate thought before finding a solution is 'this is helping me in some way.'" "There's nothing that I have been through that hasn't added to me in some way, and that's not to say trauma makes you an amazing person. No, you make the choice to not let trauma make you a not nice person "It's so freeing when you realise that you can just be you, authentically you and it's enough and it's special." CHECK OUT THIS EPISODE! https://omny.fm/shows/inner-wealth/039-iwe HOST BIO I am Summer. A spiritual being having human experiences. From the age of 11 I have been obsessed with all things self- development; looking at it from every angle, in pursuit of finding answers for my life. Like all other humans I am figuring out. The Nicest Debate I Have Ever Heard. Michael Shermer of Skeptic Interviews/Debates Dr. Stephen Meyer. The Return of The God Hypothesis. Stephen Meyer—Return of God Hypothesis: 3 Scientific Discoveries Reveal the Mind Behind the Universe Beginning in the late 19th century, many intellectuals began to insist that scientific knowledge conflicts with traditional theistic belief — that science and belief in God are “at war.” Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer challenges this view by examining three scientific discoveries with decidedly theistic implications. Building on the case for the intelligent design of life that he developed in Signature in the Cell and Darwin's Doubt, Meyer claims that discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe. Previously Meyer refrained from attempting to answer questions about “who” might have designed life. Now he provides an evidence-based answer to perhaps the ultimate mystery of the universe. The most common explanations cite the West's superior geography, commerce, and technology. Completely overlooked is the fact that faith in reason, rooted in Christianity's commitment to rational theology, made all these developments possible. Simply put, the conventional wisdom that Western success depended upon overcoming religious barriers to progress is utter nonsense. In The Victory of Reason, Rodney Stark advances a revolutionary, controversial, and long overdue idea: that Christianity and its related institutions are, in fact, directly responsible for the most significant intellectual, political, scientific, and economic breakthroughs of the past millennium. In Stark's view, what has propelled the West is not the tension between secular and nonsecular society, nor the pitting of science and the humanities against religious belief. Christian theology, Stark asserts, is the very font of reason: While the world's other great belief systems emphasized mystery, obedience, or introspection, Christianity alone embraced logic and reason as the path toward enlightenment, freedom, and progress. That is what made all the difference. In explaining the West's dominance, Stark convincingly debunks long-accepted “truths.” For instance, by contending that capitalism thrived centuries before there was a Protestant work ethic–or even Protestants–he counters the notion that the Protestant work ethic was responsible for kicking capitalism into overdrive. In the fifth century, Stark notes, Saint Augustine celebrated theological and material progress and the institution of “exuberant invention.” By contrast, long before Augustine, Aristotle had condemned commercial trade as “inconsistent with human virtue”–which helps further underscore that Augustine's times were not the Dark Ages but the incubator for the West's future glories. This is a sweeping, multifaceted survey that takes readers from the Old World to the New, from the past to the present, overturning along the way not only centuries of prejudiced scholarship but the antireligious bias of our own time. The Victory of Reason proves that what we most admire about our world–scientific progress, democratic rule, free commerce–is largely due to Christianity, through which we are all inheritors of this grand tradition.     The Return of the God Hypothosis by Steven Meyer Return of the God Hypothesis: Three Scientific Discoveries That Reveal the Mind Behind the Universe Hardcover – March 30, 2021 by Stephen C. Meyer (Author) The New York Times bestselling author of Darwin's Doubt, Stephen Meyer, presents groundbreaking scientific evidence of the existence of God, based on breakthroughs in physics, cosmology, and biology. Beginning in the late 19th century, many intellectuals began to insist that scientific knowledge conflicts with traditional theistic belief—that science and belief in God are “at war.” Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer challenges this view by examining three scientific discoveries with decidedly theistic implications. Building on the case for the intelligent design of life that he developed in Signature in the Cell and Darwin's Doubt, Meyer demonstrates how discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe.  Meyer argues that theism—with its affirmation of a transcendent, intelligent and active creator—best explains the evidence we have concerning biological and cosmological origins. Previously Meyer refrained from attempting to answer questions about “who” might have designed life. Now he provides an evidence-based answer to perhaps the ultimate mystery of the universe. In so doing, he reveals a stunning conclusion: the data support not just the existence of an intelligent designer of some kind—but the existence of a personal God.    Is Atheism Dead?  Eric Metaxas (Narrator, Author) Is Atheism Dead? is an entertaining, impressively wide-ranging, and decidedly provocative answer to that famous 1966 Time cover that itself provocatively asked “Is God Dead?” In a voice that is by turns witty, muscular, and poetic, Metaxas intentionally echoes C. S. Lewis and G. K. Chesterton in cheerfully and logically making his astonishing case, along the way presenting breathtaking - and often withering - new evidence and arguments against the idea of a Creatorless universe. Taken all together, he shows atheism not merely to be implausible and intellectually sloppy, but now demonstrably ridiculous. Perhaps the only unanswered question on the subject is why we couldn't see this sooner, and how embarrassed we should be about it.   -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  John Zmirak makes his weekly appearance and covers current events and shares recent articles available at-   https://stream.org/author/johnzmirak/ Watch Eric Metaxas on Rumble-  https://rumble.com/c/TheEricMetaxasRadioShow  The Eric Metaxas Show- https://metaxastalk.com/podcasts/ Eric Metaxas Show on Apple Podcasts-    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-eric-metaxas-show/id991156680 Check out- Socrates in the City   Find All of John Zmirak Articles at- https://stream.org/author/johnzmirak/ John Zmirak is a senior editor at The Stream and author or co-author of ten books, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Immigration and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism. It is a message increasingly echoed from the nation's pulpits, presented as common-sense decency and virtue. Calls for “radical non-violence” are routinely endowed with the imprimatur of religious doctrine.   But what if such teachings were misguided, even damaging? What if the potential of a citizenry to exercise force against violent criminals and tyrannical governments is not just compatible with church teaching, but flows from the very heart of Biblical faith and reason? What if the freedoms we treasure are intimately tied to the power to resist violent coercion?  This is the long-overdue case John Zmirak makes with stunning clarity and conviction in No Second Amendment, No First. A Yale-educated journalist and former college professor, Zmirak shows how the right of self-defense against authoritarian government was affirmed in both the Old and New Testaments, is implied in Natural Law, and has been part of Church tradition over the centuries.   Zmirak further shows how today's mounting threats to the gun rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment are inexorably linked to the   HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD!  Please go to Apple Podcasts and give ACU a 5 star rating.
