Pastor Sam Rainer preaches a series about God's names in the Bible. This sermon examines the Trinity, God in three persons. The Trinity is an essential way to know God, even if it's partially a mystery we will never understand fully. Describing the Trinity can be challenging, but wehave several reasons why God reveals Himself in this way.
How does Trinity God save?He saves us powerfully, graciously, and effectively - from beginning to end, our salvation is the work of Trinity God.
How does God save us? How has he saved you?Our salvation is the work of Trinity God from beginning to end - he did what we couldn't do. The Father elected us, the Son died for us, the Spirit has given us new life - and now we are held in his hands, preserved by him and perserving in our faith.
Our Awesome God -- Part 3: Trinity; Jesus, the Christ MESSAGE SUMMARY: We pray and sing to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – the Trinity: one God and yet three persons in the one God. All analogies fall shot in explaining an incomprehensible God and the Trinity. The Trinity is a mystery, and the word Trinity is not found in the Bible – the Bible has inferences to the Word Trinity and each of its component persons without naming the overarching word “Trinity”. However, the authority of speaking about the Trinity comes from the Bible. During the first few centuries of the Church, Christians wrestled with how to describe and communicate God in writings and teachings. These early Christians, in their study of the Scriptures, saw that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were all Devine; however, they knew that God was one. Therefore, these early Christians concluded that the Scriptures taught that there was only one God; but that the Father is God, the Son is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God – what we now call the Trinity. Today, we will look at the second person of the Trinity – Jesus. Jesus is the rock upon which Christianity is built. Typically, we refer to “Jesus Christ”; however, “Christ “is not Jesus last name. “Christ” is a title that means Messiah. Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, is viewed from three perspectives: 1) the pre-incarnate Christ; the incarnate Christ (God man); and the post-incarnate Christ. In John 1:1-5, the Apostle John tells us that the pre-incarnate Christ was the Word (Logos) and in the beginning. Also, the pre-incarnate Christ was a person, but He was: with God, a deity (God), and a participant in the Creation. Also, the pre-incarnate Christ, in the Old Testament, is referred to as “The Angel of the Lord” (Exodus 3:1-18). Whenever The Angel of the Lord appears in the Old Testament, God ends up being referenced as the person speaking. In John 8:58, Jesus removes all doubt that He was God, The Angel of the Lord, speaking to Abraham in Exodus 3: “Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.'". In John 1:14, the Apostle John identifies the God-man Jesus, the incarnate Christ, as God: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.". Jesus was the person of God's Son and He was Devine. In the year 325, leaders from all over the Church met in Nicaea to debate and understand who Jesus was. These Church leaders came out of this meeting saying that Jesus was co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father. In the Incarnation, Jesus remained God; but, also, Jesus became fully a sinless human – Son of Man and Son of God. The incarnate Christ was crucified, and He was resurrected; and He is living today as the post-incarnate Christ. As the post-incarnate Christ, Jesus is the reigning and redeeming Christ. Also, we are told that the post-incarnate Christ will return. Therefore, Jesus is the visible expression of the invisible God. It is because of Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, that we are able to have access to the first person of the Trinity – God the Father. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit are inseparable because they are one God together in the Trinity. We are God's children; but God, our Father, has no grandchildren. Jesus tells us in John 14:6-7: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.'". The understanding of the Godhead and the Trinity are a gift to us through our Salvation brought to us by Jesus. TODAY'S PRAYER: Keeping the Sabbath, Lord, will require a lot of changes in the way I am living life. Teach me, Lord, how to take the next step with this in a way that fits my unique personality and situation. Help me to trust you with all that will remain unfinished and to enjoy my humble place in your very large world. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 129). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. Many of us might have misconceptions about the Holy Spirit. We may think of Him as an impersonal force, like something out of Star Wars. Or we might assume He is a mere projection of the Father's work in the world. But Scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit is a person, like God the Father or Jesus Christ the Son. He can be grieved and lied to, and He cares deeply about us. This week, Pastor Connor continues our series on the Trinity with a message on the Holy Spirit and His roles in the world. He is the Convicter who shows us our need for a Savior, the Indwelling Presence of God who comforts and helps us, the Transformer who makes us more like Christ, the Advocate who makes our prayers acceptable to God, the Great Giver of spiritual gifts, and the Guarantee of our salvation. Every step of the way, He is a vital participant in how the gospel changes our lives. This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the trinity, some of the talking points were, are we supposed to have all the fruits of the spirit, what will the Holy Spirit's role be after Christ returns, and so many more questions about the Holy Spirit. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about their close encounters with fire.Got questions about the trinity? Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?” This is one of the most important questions any of us will ever answer. This week, Pastor Connor continues our series on the Trinity with a look at who the Son is. As almighty God, He is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, but is also a distinct person with His own roles. He is Eternal God, the Incarnate Word, our High Priest, the Head of the Church, the Final Judge, and the Returning King. Because He's fully God and fully human, He is uniquely positioned to be our advocate and our judge. He understands our weaknesses and our sufferings completely, so He can be both perfectly compassionate and perfectly just. This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the trinity, some of the talking points were, if Jesus had a body in heaven, did Jesus's role in heaven change while he was on earth, what the word begotten really means. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about when they realized as kids that Jesus and God were one.Got questions about the trinity? The Trinity is a great mystery, but a basic understanding of this doctrine gives us a clearer picture of what it means to belong to Christ. This week, Pastor Connor kicks off our new series on the Trinity with a look at God the Father. We look at five different roles that the Father has: Architect, Sender, Covenant Keeper, Judge, and King. In all of these roles, God the Father shows us that He wants the very best for all of creation, including us. He is deeply involved in our lives, and we can trust Him completely, just as Jesus did. This week, our hosts have their first discussion on the trinity, some of the talking points were, where we hold the Athanasian/other creeds, if the father, son, and holy spirit have their own will, and if the father consults with the son and the holy spirit. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about different trinity analogies.Got questions about the trinity? Have you ever tried to wrap your brain around the Biblical teaching of the Trinity? It's challenging, to say the least. And yet, it is an absolutely essential doctrine to our Christian faith, and to what the Bible teaches. So let's look together in Scripture, as we also talk about God the Father.
Inside our theme of love this month, this week we are focusing on teaching our kids what love is. God has assigned us the role of teaching them about love, to lead and be their example, to help them see by words and actions that authenticity is the only way to understand love, especially His love. Real love and intimacy require vulnerability and sincerity. And God's Word is the original love letter from His heart to ours.Today, we're going to look at the first event in Jesus' life that launched His ministry and started His road to the cross: His baptism. Now, you might ask … what does Jesus's baptism have to do with love? Well, it's really about what happened at Jesus's baptism … listen as I read . …The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God's Spirit—it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. And along with the Spirit, a voice: “This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life.” (Matthew 3:16-17 MSG)Did you hear the words of love and affirmation God spoken over Jesus? Imagine for a moment what John witnessed? The Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—all present at this historic event. Now, listen once again, and afterwards, I'll tell you how you and I are connected to this moment.Whenever we choose to enter into a relationship with Jesus, the reconnection of our spirits to His is completed. Please know then, that He will, for the rest of your life, look at you and say, “This is my son, this is my daughter, chosen and marked by my love, the delight of my life.”I'm betting that is exactly the way you look at your child. But you need to know this is how God sees you. And if you can accept and receive that is the way your Heavenly Father sees you, you will then be able to pass that truth on to your kids. If you believe it, they will more likely come to believe it as well.Repeat this truth out loud right now … I am chosen … I am marked … by my Father's love ... and I am the delight of His life. … Say it to Him … You have chosen me … You have marked me … by Your love … and I am the delight of Your life.Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, thank You that You chose me, thank You that my life is marked by Your love. Thank You that I am the delight of Your life. Help me to show my kids that You and I, together, feel that way about them. As above, so below.”
"The Trinity is God. The Father is God. The Son is God. The Spirit is God.""God is three persons but God is he".In mainstream Christianity there is real confusion and an identity crises about who God is, how many persons God is, and who and what the title “God” refers to. Mainstream Christianity also presents a identity confusion about who Jesus is. "Jesus is God. Jesus is a God-Man. Jesus is man. Jesus is an angel, or was the angel of the LORD". The Trinity God has one nature, but the Jesus God has two natures. This confusion is not found in the Bible, but is only a result of later human speculation and lies.

1 Timothy 1:3-17 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work—which is by faith. 5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. 8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. New Year. Same Core. 1 Timothy 1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. We affirm that these doctrines make up the distinctive nature and core center circle of Christianity: the Trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) the deity of Jesus Christ the atoning, liberating work of Christ on the cross the bodily resurrection of Jesus and salvation by grace through faith. At the core isn't an idea. At the core is Jesus. We are not merely to be believers of ideas, but disciples of Jesus. At the core isn't a checklist for sinners. At the core is a Savior for sinners. Legalism does not compare to the love of God. At the core isn't earning. At the core is following. Obedience should flow from internal transformation, not external constraint.

Recognizing false teaching, embracing weakness, and standing firm in spiritual warfare. We gathered to discuss the importance of spiritual discernment, the danger of false teaching, and the centrality of maintaining intimacy with Christ. Our conversation centered around how doctrine shapes our relationship with God and how easily deception can spread when believers drift from truth. We reflected on the rarity of sound teaching in local assemblies and our responsibility to remain grounded in the gospel of grace rather than performance-based religion. We shared about how God often uses weakness as a vessel for growth and revelation. The topic of spiritual dyslexia emerged as a metaphor for how harmful teachings can distort the truth—causing fear, suspicion, or guilt where love and freedom should reign. We reminded ourselves that even when believers fall into error, they are still loved by God and can be restored through humility and dependence on Him.The discussion then turned toward Christ's authority and presence, emphasizing that we are seated with Him spiritually—secure and victorious in His love. We explored how faith, not feelings, sustains our walk, and how prayer strengthens us against doubt and deception. We also reflected on how creation itself reveals Christ's sustaining power: He holds all things together, even those who deny Him.We concluded by reflecting on spiritual warfare and divine love, affirming that no darkness can overcome the light of Christ. Scriptures like Revelation 2:17, Isaiah 59:19, and Ephesians 6:10–18 reminded us that victory comes through faith, prayer, and God's armor. We closed by thanking God for His hidden treasures—those moments of intimacy and revelation found even in darkness—and by praying for protection and continual discernment as we grow in His grace.Themes:Spiritual discernment and sound doctrine God's strength revealed through human weakness Christ's authority and light in spiritual warfare The unity and love of the Trinity God's hidden treasures in seasons of darknessScripture References: Revelation 2:17; Isaiah 45:3; Isaiah 59:19; Ephesians 6:10–18Reflection Question: How can we better discern between man's teaching and God's truth, allowing Christ's love—not fear—to define our faith and guide our walk?

"Life and death is in the power of the tongue. There's no in-between; there's either life coming out of your mouth or death coming out of your mouth." --Dr. Edith Davis In "A Secret of How to Receive and Keep Your Divine Healing - Part 7," Dr. Edith Davis of "Into the Glory Zone" unpacks profound revelations about the believer's spiritual authority in the physical realm. She explains how the indwelling Trinity – God the Father, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit – empowers new creations to manifest the full blessings of the fourth dimension, where God reigns. Dr. Davis powerfully asserts that "life and death is in the power of the tongue," urging listeners to speak life by aligning their words with God's Word rather than the world's system. She illustrates the stark contrast between worldly advice leading to destruction and Christ-centered living that yields glorious marriages, families, and prosperity, much like Joseph brought wealth to Egypt. The broadcast delves into practical steps for receiving and retaining divine healing, emphasizing that believers must speak directly to problems – commanding sickness, pain, and poverty to bow to the King Jesus within. Dr. Davis shares personal testimony of God's provision and calls believers to mature from "children" to "sons and daughters," actively exercising their spiritual dominion. She stresses the necessity of guarding one's heart with Christ's peace, the Lord's joy, and God's agape love, highlighting faith as the essential currency of heaven. Ultimately, the teaching underscores the transformative power of understanding one's identity as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and cultivating an intimate, Mary-like posture of surrender and soaking in God's presence. Listeners will be equipped to resist the devil by first submitting to God's Word, ensuring they can receive and keep their divine healing. Paul's Letter to the Romans and the Gospel of John reveal how the Holy Trinity restores peace, love, and truth to our lives. (Lectionary #166) June 14, 2025 - Cathedral of Christ the King - Superior, WI Fr. Andrew Ricci - www.studyprayserve.com
The Rev. Sarah Phelps preaches on Trinity Sunday.
As We Are One: Living the Unity of the Trinity Today's Gospel is from John 17, which emphasizes Jesus' prayer for unity . . . . . . not a worldly unity, but a divine one, mirroring the oneness of the Trinity. The homily contrasts two kinds of unity: being “frozen together” (rigid and superficial) versus being “melted together” (softened and transformed in love). Christian unity must be rooted in two things: unity in truth (faith in Christ's resurrection and teachings, as exemplified by Paul and St. Boniface) and unity in charity (the way we treat each other with love and mercy). Two Kinds of Unity Through stories . . . including a child moved by liturgical joy and a teacher inspired by kindness . . . we see how actions grounded in love can powerfully express Christian unity and evangelize others. Ultimately, the message is that unity in truth must melt into unity in love to reflect Christ to the world. Hear more on how we do this in this Meditation Media.

The story of Christmas is a tribute to the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In this message, Adrian Rogers shares the mystery, history, and ministry of the Trinity.
In this message, we are reminded of the profound simplicity and power of trusting in the Lord, especially during the Christmas season. Reflecting on the story of the Magi from Matthew 2, we see how God used a star to guide these wise men to Jesus, illustrating the importance of following the light that God provides in our lives. The Magi, despite their pagan background, recognized the significance of the star and followed it, demonstrating a deep trust in the divine guidance they received. This trust is a call for us to move out of our comfort zones and follow God's light, even when it doesn't make sense or when it leads us to unexpected places. The sermon emphasizes that Jesus is the light of the world, a theme we've explored throughout December. Light, as explained, is composed of three distinct rays, paralleling the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This divine light can dispel darkness, just as Jesus dispels the darkness in our lives. The Magi's journey is a testament to the power of this light and the importance of trusting in God's guidance, regardless of our understanding. As we look forward to 2025, we are encouraged to anticipate a revival, where God will speak to people in unexpected ways. The Magi's story reminds us that God can reach anyone, regardless of their background, and that His ways are often beyond our comprehension. We are called to trust in Him, acknowledging that His plans are perfect, even when they appear simple or humble, like the birth of Jesus in a manger. This Christmas, let us remember the simplicity of God's love and the gift of Jesus, who came to bring us hope, peace, and joy. As we partake in communion, we are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and we are encouraged to trust in His light and follow His voice, just as the Magi did.
In this episode, we discuss the theological concept of the Trinity–God as Creator of the universe, Jesus of Nazareth, and the Holy Spirit. April gives the historical context for how the early church wrestled to explain their experiences with God within their own cultural context, and how folks argued over words in the creeds–some of it was about conviction, but it was also a power struggle. Ultimately, the early church and all Christians since have been grasping at language to a Mystery that cannot be defined. April and Anna find resonance in the idea that God is love, so of course God would be a community of self-giving and receiving love with Themself–and God invites us to join in that ecstatic dance of Love. Genesis 1: 1-5 In the last of the sermons in this series, we look at the First Person of the Trinity: God the Creator. But we will also use this sermon to talk about what the Trinity means in the first place.
Chapter 2.2: Of God and of the Holy Trinity – God's External Relations God, having all life,17glory,18goodness,19 blessedness, in and of Himself, is alone in and unto Himself all-sufficient, not standing in need of any creature which He hath made, nor deriving any glory from them,20 but only manifesting His own glory in, by, unto, and upon them; He is the alone fountain of all being, of whom, through whom, and to whom are all things,21 and He hath most sovereign dominion over all creatures, to do by them, for them, or upon them, whatsoever Himself pleases;22 in His sight all things are open and manifest,23 His knowledge is infinite, infallible, and independent upon the creature, so as nothing is to Him contingent or uncertain;24 He is most holy in all His counsels, in all His works,25 and in all His commands; to Him is due from angels and men, whatsoever worship,26 service, or obedience, as creatures they owe unto the Creator, and whatever He is further pleased to require of them. 17 John 5:26 18 Ps. 148:13 19 Ps. 119:68 20 Job 22:2–3 21 Rom. 11:34-36 22 Dan. 4:25,34–35 23 Heb. 4:13 24 Ezek. 11:5; Acts 15:18 25 Ps. 145:17 26 Rev. 5:12-14.
Galatians 4:4-6 — When we think of Christmas, we usually tend to associate it with Scripture passages from the books of Luke or Matthew, but are there other passages in the Bible that shed more light on what happened that day when Jesus Christ became a man born in Bethlehem? Preached just a few days before Christmas, this sermon by Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones draws truths from Galatians 4:4-6 that are crucial to our understanding of the celebration of Christmas. First, all three members of the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit— are involved in our salvation. Second, the focal point of all of this is the coming of Jesus into the world, the reason behind the celebration of Christmas. Paul says that Jesus was “sent forth”— a phrase that has caused many questions throughout the centuries among New Testament scholars, but Dr. Lloyd-Jones provides answers to help us understand what this means. Third, what does Paul's statement of “the fullness of time” mean? Is it in an evolutionary sense that the present is better than the past? No! Dr. Lloyd-Jones emphatically demonstrates that it means God is in control of time and that God has predetermined all of the major events having to do with our salvation. How does this apply to us as we think of Christ's coming? Dr. Lloyd-Jones reminds us that ultimately, because of God's sovereignty, our worst time is his best time, and we can rest in that.
