Today is day 333 and we are studying The Eighth Commandment. 333. How did God teach Israel to respect the property of others? God required restitution when property was stolen or destroyed; and he forbade unjust loans and oppression of the poor. (Exodus 21:33–22:15; Leviticus 25:35–37; Psalm 37:21–22) We will conclude today by praying The Ayin Stanza of Psalm 119 which is verses 121-128 found on page 436 of the Book of Common Prayer (2019). This morning Pastor Rob broke down the passage in Matthew 6 that we know as the Lord's Prayer into six themes, each of which we will be diving deeper into in the coming weeks of the series. Whether you're new to prayer or you consider yourself a prayer expert, grab 5 or 10 minutes this week with your Bible in a quiet place where you won't be distracted or interrupted, and work your way through the Lord's Prayer. As you invite God to teach you to pray, as you learn to be with Him and enjoy Him, prayer will eventually no longer be a discipline, but a delight that you cannot go without. Prayer isn't a formula, it's a relationship that changes us.

This episode looks at Luke 3:10, “So the crowds were asking him, “What then should we do?” This is the question for every human in every age. And John's answer is to repent and then show charity, compassion, integrity, and contentment as fruit in your life.
In digging through the scriptures to see how Noah got through these events without a significant trauma response, we might learn a little bit about how to overcome traumatic events in our own lives.
2022/01/09 - How Does God Teach Us to Worship? (Deuteronomy 12:1-14) | Pastor John Cherne by Indelible Grace Church
This episode looks at Philemon 1:17, “So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me.” Paul would have been received with honor and respect. He wants that same thing from Philemon toward Onesimus. May our transformed Christian communities be characterized by honoring others, especially the marginalized.
This episode looks at Philemon 1:9, yet for love's sake I prefer to appeal to you—I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus.” Philemon's love for the saints and Paul's love for Onesimus motivate him to appeal to Philemon rather than command what is right. May we learn from Paul in this, and may we learn to love as these saints loved.
This episode looks at Philemon 1:4, “I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers.” The way we give thanks to God is by memorializing the faith and love of fellow Christians. May God teach us to do that well.
The promises of God are the foundation of our spiritual goal.
This episode looks at Luke 2:24, “and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” Luke emphasizes that Mary and Joseph worship God according to his prescriptions for worship. May we learn, washed clean already by the blood of Christ, to do the same.
This episode looks at Colossians 4:15, “Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.” Paul encourages the Colossians to warmly greet two nearby churches. Though we should have independent church identities, we should live with a spirit of humility and interdependence between churches.
This episode looks at Colossians 4:2, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Paul calls us in prayer to overcome three challenges (Gerald Peterman, Moody Bible Commentary): 1) lack of dedication; 2) a sluggish approach to prayer; 3) prayers filled with requests but devoid of thanksgiving. May it be so in our prayer lives.
Jesus's teaching and lifestyle is summed up by one word—grace. He's the full expression of both grace and truth ( John 1:14, 17). Some say we need to balance grace and truth. But grace is the truth that will set us free. So this is how He teaches us... Grace!
This episode looks at Colossians 3:19, “Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.” Husbands have a high calling, to desire the eternal good of their wives in relation to God and to avoid harshness in the relationship. May God teach us to do these things.
Why do our prayers matter? And how do we process the fact that sometimes our prayers don’t get answered?
“Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.” —-1 Thessalonians 4:9, NIV On tonight’s episode, I chatted with Nerissa Street, who is an award winning educator, executive producer, radio host, author and storyteller based in South Florida. As we continued the discussion of Love vs Lust, we realized only God can teach us about love and how to love. The more we walk with God & acknowledge His Spirit in us, the better we’ll be at loving people and avoiding lust of any kind such as “people-pleasing.” Did you ever think about people-pleasing as a type of lust? This episode looks at Proverbs 10:23, “Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.” Sin is no laughing matter. But we can and should find joy and pleasure in the things of God. We need his help to do that.
2 Thessalonians 3:5 Never Pray for Patience.
Dr. Ken Berding // Psalm 42:1-5
This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:12, “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” This verse has plenty of connections back to Psalm 1. We see that those who will not believe in the Son perish in the way of the wicked. The righteous find refuge in him as they meditate on God's instruction, and thus they find happiness and joy as well.
This episode dives into Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;” In this Psalm, the Psalmist invites us into a truly happy life. The first step in this life is to avoid the path of sinners, wicked ones, and scoffers.
Waiting. It's hardly my favorite activity. For most people waiting is a waste of time, a tedious postponement of our life. But waiting is precious to God. Psalm 25 teaches us what to do while we're waiting. If you are getting started in a relationship with God, trying to have a quiet time or seeking guidance at this point in your life, you're in the right place.Spend your first fifteen minutes of the day listening to God and responding in a personal way. This podcast will show you how and teach you in an easy to follow process. In fifteen minutes (or less) you will listen to God's w/Sin/ord for you, reflect on it and learn to pray to God as well as carry that word with you through the rest of your day. What a perfect way to get started! We are listening to Psalm 25 in this episode and the theme is waiting. Psalm 25 is a lament, and lament is really about waiting and growing in the process. This acrostic psalm shows artistry in its arrangement and depth in the range of themes that is tackles. Some of the poetry is hard to appreciate in translation, but the main messages come through clearly. Here are some of the "power ideas" mentioned in the episode: trust, shame-disgrace, teach-guide, path-ways, God's love (and goodness), sin, covenant, fear God, troubles-suffering, deliverance-salvation. Go ahead and get started listening and follow/subscribe to this podcast to hear more from God's word. As we get into season three get a copy of the book God Help Me Grow: Learning to Pray through the Psalms on Amazon (or the ebook) so you can pray all of the first 30 psalms in the book of Psalms. In the spirit of the acrostic psalm, here are some of the clusters I mentioned for you to meditate on and use in prayer: Trust/Truth/Troubles, Shame/Sin/Salvation, prayers to God-Teach me/Love me/Deliver me.Download the helpsheet that details and demonstrates the four step process we use on First Fifteen using Psalm 1. In this message, Pastor Chris explores the promise in James 5. The promise that the “prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective’”. What does it mean for us to have a powerful and effective prayer life? And why is the effectiveness of our prayers tied to righteousness?

12/01/19 - Joe Kimmell - Isaiah 2:1-5 Today begins the season of Advent for us as we remember the coming of God to our world and how he promises to come again. This light is our hope, and it is also a wake up call to us to open ourselves to God afresh that He would lead us and teach us how to live.

Message from Jeremiah Canfield on June 30, 2019
Title: Undivided Heart Series: Life in (Multicultural) Community Summary: In Psalm 86, David prays for God's protection and deliverance, from a posture of praise and worship. Within this prayer, he asks God: "Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." Using this prayer as a backdrop, this sermon explores the urgent need for deliverance from the lie of white supremacy, which separates us from ourselves, one another, and from God - and considers that liberation from this lie comes only from the reconciling power of Jesus, who restores the Imago Dei in each of us, uniting our divided hearts as one.
Welcome to the Podcast of Southwest Bible Fellowship in Tempe, Arizona. WHO ARE WE? • We are a group of people who are committed to living the grace life as set forth by the apostle of the Gentiles, the Apostle Paul. • We come together to study our Bibles, and yes, we believe we have God's perfect Word in the King James Bible. It and it alone is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice! • We do not come together and study our Bibles for the intent of being smarter than others. We understand that knowledge for the sake of knowledge is purely vain and serves no Godly purpose. • We do come together and study our Bibles for the intent of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection. (Philippians 3:10) • We do come together and study our Bibles to understand that we have been crucified with Christ; nevertheless we live; yet not us, but Christ liveth in us: and the life which we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us. (Galatians 2:20) • We do come together and study our Bibles to understand that because Jesus Christ shed His blood for us and we should not live for ourselves but for Him, who died for us and rose again. (2 Cor. 5:15) • We do not claim to have attained to these lofty goals, but we press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. In order to find God’s will for your life, we first must allow God to teach us His will we find in the Bible. What is God’s will for my life? This is one of the top two or three questions many Christians have. What is God’s will? What is my purpose? Today’s One Verse says something very interesting: “Teach me to do your will...God.” Teach me? Not show me or lead me. Teach me. Why? Because there are two “God’s wills” for our lives. There is the purpose/God’s will many of us think of first. What job am I supposed to have? Where should I live? Who should I marry? What does my future look like? And these are honest questions we all need to answer. BUT… There is another purpose and God’s will that we find in the Bible. This “God’s will” is the same for ALL Christians. I have found verse after verse after verse that says, “If you want to do God’s will…” followed by love others or pray or spend time with God. That is what I believe Psalm 143 is talking about. Teach us, God to do the will of yours that we find already laid out in the Bible. If we do, I truly believe the purpose and God’s will that is specific to us will be much easier to discover! About One Verse One Verse is a short, free podcast devotional designed to help you grow closer to God through less than 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Consistency trumps intensity. When it comes to working out, eating healthy, or managing our finances, consistency always trumps intensity. We reach our major life goals through small, purposeful steps taken daily. The same is true in our spiritual lives. I truly believe you will grow closer to God by spending just 5 minutes a day with Him versus cramming in an hour once a month. The One Verse Devotional is here to help take away the barriers of spending time with God. Now, during your workout, drive to work, or even shopping for groceries, you can invest in your spiritual life. http://phosphorusproject.com/
