HEY YOU GUYS!!!!! Did you miss us? Since this is the week that we would normally be coming back in a non-covid world Aaron and I thought we would do something fun for all of you. Believe it or not Aaron and I do other podcasts. Shocked you are I know! But one that we are really proud of, because we hope one day someone calls us for our ideas, is Remake This Movie Right! The concept of Remake This Movie Right! was born out of Hollywood's obsession to remake every freaking movie from Aaron's and my childhood and completely RUIN it. We got the braintrust together to tell Hollywood how these movies SHOULD BE remade for a modern audience, literally how to Remake These Movies Right! From Short Circuit, to Stand by Me, to Gremlins and The Princess Bride, no movie was safe in our production of this podcast, not even Star Wars! (Audible Gasp Emoji). Now that the 35th anniversary of one of the most beloved films of all time is upon us we took up the charge to attempt to remake The Goonies. Sit back and relax and enjoy what Aaron and I do best, break down entertainment in a fun way while making fun of me and hearing Aaron come up with ideas that he thinks makes sense. If you love this and want to hear more just subscribe to Remake This Movie Right! in Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and now Amazon Music. Or just go to the website RemakeThisMovieRight.com and all the links and info are there if you forget! Remember Goonies never say die, much like Aaron and I.
1985 was a big year for movies! It was a year dominated by flying DeLoreans, Breakfast Clubs, Beverly Hills Cops, as well as massive pop artists like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cindy Lauper, and Prince. It was also the year of one of the greatest movie adventures of them all! The secret caves. The lost map. The hidden treasure. The Fratelli’s. What an exciting time to be alive as a kid, back when you knew it was time to get home when the streetlights came on and just riding bikes with your friends meant the world was yours to explore...until dinner time at least. 1985 was the year that Austoria, Oregan got put on the map, the “truffle shuffle” became the newest dance move, and the kids from the “goon docks” took the oath that “Goonies never say die!” On this episode, Tim Williams and guest co-host, Ron West, share their memories of this iconic 80's classic! They also share their favorite characters, movie moments, and behind the scenes trivia along the way. Here are some additional behind the scenes trivia we were unable to cover on this episode: The Goonies set became a Hollywood hot spot. Celebrities such as Dan Akroyd, Harrison Ford, and Pee-wee Herman all visited the set while the film was in production. Corey Feldman said that Michael Jackson hung out at the set so often that "he was basically part of the cast." Feldman recalled, "It was like we had the coolest set on the lot. Harrison Ford came and walked the caves with us. We felt like we were in Indiana Jones." When the Fratelli brothers argued, Anne Ramsey really slapped Robert Davi. She was told to hit him as hard as she could. Production designer J. Michael Riva said in a National Public Radio interview that, before shooting the first scenes with the prop map, he thought that it looked good but not old enough, so in his hotel room, he aged it with coffee and (when he couldn't find paint) his own blood. Much of the theme music for the film comes from the 1948 "Adventure of Don Juan" (1948) starring Errol Flynn. Sloth is seen in his dungeon room watching similar swashbuckling films from the 1940s and '50s on TV and imagines himself a hero like Flynn, as evidenced by his sliding/slicing down the sail of the pirate ship near the end, which is also from another Errol Flynn film. Cyndi Lauper co-wrote the theme song "Goonies 'R' Good Enough", and shot a music video that features a cameo by the film's executive producer Steven Speilberg. The 12-minute video basically tells the movie's story as a musical. Cyndi Lauper plays Cyndi (a new Goonie recruit), The Bangles play pirates, and Andre the Giant plays Sloth. Scott Davis (Hey You Guys) Amon Warmann (Empire Magazine) join Flixwatcher to review Scott’s choice Groundhog Day. Groundhog Day is a 1993 romantic comedy starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, co-written and directed by Harold Ramis. Murray plays Phil Connor, a TV weatherman sent to cover the annual Groundhog Day event who for reasons unknown ends up living the same day over and over again until he gets the day right. Hard to believe now but when it was released Groundhog Day, despite favorable reviews wasn’t a hit. It wasn’t until the late 90s and Murray finding his groove with Wes Anderson that Groundhog Day finally found the audience it rightly deserves. So iconic it coined the phase for we now use to describe a reoccurring situation. Scores [supsystic-tables id=158] Any worries you might have about Groundhog Day not having aged well are unwarranted - it’s still hilarious, amazingly warm-hearted and a little bit dark around the edges. Scoring very highly across all Flixwatcher categories - including perfect fives in recommendability and even first time watcher Amon enjoyed it enough to give it a high repeat viewing. Losing only a couple of points Groundhog Day scores a very high 4.71 overall and takes 3rd place in the Flixwatcher rankings. What do you guys think? Have you seen Groundhog Day? What did you think? Episode 54: Hey You Guys! by We seen't It
HEY YOU GUYS! Can you believe it's taken us nearly five years to get to The Goonies?! We know it's been a frustratingly long wait for a lot of you, but with a rising premium being placed on this particular brand of Amblin-esque nostalgia these days, it finally felt like the right time to dig out that old treasure map and search for rich stuff. All three of us experienced the film at different points in our lives and that definitely had an impact on how we felt about it. In addition to sorting through some of these wildly different reactions, we also address the backlash the film has received in certain circles recently and whether or not that movement has any merit. Get away from Troy's bucket because it's our time down here. Topics include: Spielberg's notoriously more "hands-on" approach to producing, the traumatic experience one of us had on our first viewing, some suggestions for a cleaner way to set up the back story, an incredibly ill-advised real-life Goonie adventure, deleted scenes that were broadcast on the TV version, the Goonies 2 video game, whether or not an actual sequel is even a good idea at this point, and much much more! iTunes / Stitcher / RSS / Facebook / Twitter / Instagram About The Show
HEY YOU GUYS! We're missing Ben this week, as he had some circumstances beyond his control come up. So it's just Mary and David in this one, here to keep you on the up and up and make out a WHOLE bunch! This week, with their sexy new money, the Code Lyoko crew has gone and built us a brand-new sector. I hope you like blue rectangles! We also get schooled on the Tunic - pardon me, PUNIC Wars, finally hear Franz Hopper's name spoken aloud, forget things about the episode we REALLY should have remembered, and do our level best to protect Aelita from all the bullies ever. ==== Questions? Welcome back to another scintillating episode of Danish and O'Neill. On our 87th edition, we kick things off by talking about a new study about swimming pools and hot tubs (propaganda!). Invigorated and motivated by the pool talk, Danish is compelled to unleash a Y update. After that, we need to cleanse our palettes with something fresh yet spicy. How do you do that? By returning to your roots. Horse talk. Yup, it's back! Then, we hop on the ol' Danish and O'Neill jet and fly to Ireland to talk about a mailman who got into some serious shenanigans. Cue some light air raid sirens...cause a story about a movie trailer gets O'Neill a lil' hot and bothered (just bothered, but it doesn't sound as good without the "hot" before it). When that concludes, we honor Scottie Maples by talking a little 60 Days In. Don't put those sirens away just yet! Cause a story from North of the border bothers O'Neill. More frequent flyer miles are coming our way cause we're off to Taiwan to talk about a special group who's spreading love with their hands. We stay in Asia for a much needed camel toe fashion update. To wrap up the show, we delve deep into Goonies and ask questions that no one has ever had the courage to ask! HEY YOU GUYS!
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!! It's a brand new episode of "Sequel This" Dave and Marc visit their favorite childhood movie and warmly discuss what it meant to them.
