What you speak over your spouse matters. It's what gets you through the valleys, struggles, and plateaus of your marriage relationship. You may be familiar with the old adage, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." It was often the advice given to console those who were bullied through taunting, brought to the edge, or past the edge, of anger. Hip Hop Harry probably had it right though, "Words have power! Words have power!" They really do.Throughout history, words have been used to garner excitement, encourage those who are hurting, inspire, and even rally hate.If you are married, chances are words were spoken at a ceremony in the form of vows. Words probably even led up to you connecting with your spouse for that first date, the second, and even the proposal if we go far enough back in time. Words got you into your marriage. Words will either make or break your marriage going forward. This episode will take the time to explore how your words have an impact on your spouse, how to assess the words you are speaking over your spouse, and considerations to make a change going forward. You can see the full show notes at BeyondTheRut.com/235.
Hip Hop Harry would be proud of this episode. TAJ and Will love hip hop, so it's only right that they talk about recent events involving some of the biggest names of the genre. They start with their thoughts on the Verzuz battle of DMX vs Snoop Dogg. Then, they continue the hip hop conversation with a debate about J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake (9:35). They also talk about civil rights icon John Lewis and touch on the importance of questioning what's taught in U.S. history class (21:42). Then, TAJ and Will voice their concerns about Kanye West's health, and they tackle the negative public perception of the Kardashian family (36:20). TAJ also shares an idea for Tiktok to combat the ongoing issue of creators not being credited for their dances (47:17). Like what you hear? Give us that 5-star rating on Apple! Have THINGS, nigga! We also get into the infamous shoe, the Fresh Air EP, and thanks to tequila? Z may or may not be trying to choke niggas on a boat... don't judge, just listen! (Outro: Michael Da Vinci feat. OGTHAGAWD - Roid Rage)
