When you watch a series or a documentary do you ever wonder about what goes on behind the camera? Today I talk to James Maher, a media producer who has created content for a whole range of different types of projects. We talk about how he got into media initially by taking photos for a shop he worked for and that grew to being lead producer on The Grassroots Rider Academy this year. How James didn't get a formal education in video and media production but has still worked with the likes of RTÉ How people initially don't tend to take him seriously just by how he looks That no project is the same and each one is like a new adventure which James really enjoys We also talk about interviewing and finding ways to get people to tell their story We discuss The Grassroots Rider Academy the preparations and the importance of having a good team behind you James also talks about how if you want to do something just do it, the only way to learn is by getting out there and making mistakes and he wouldn't change anything good times or bad The importance of word of mouth and also being okay with turning down projects because the work will be there That if you want to do something the time to do it is not when you get home from work James has a great piece of advice at the end of the podcast which everyone needs to hear If you want to find out more about James or working with him you can find him here Instagram: @evilcharmander @jamesmaher.media Website: https://jamesmaher.media/ If you are interested in working with me you can find me : Equestrian Instagram: @stronginthesaddle_ Equestrian Tiktok: @ stronginthesaddle Happy Hips for horseriding PDF: https://landing.mailerlite.com/webforms/landing/b4y0n6 Website: www.chrissyhawkins.com Instagram: @chrissyhfitness Want my FREE Kickstarter workout guide? We're over the midway point now with our mini series on women in politics in Tipperary here on the 5.45. We are really enjoying hearing the experiences of women involved in that world locally and from different sides as well, and today we continue that with Dr. Michelle Maher who is the Programme Manager with See Her Elected but we have also been reliably informed that Dr. Maher has local links her late husband James Maher was from Thurles- and she is a daughter-in-law of the late Michael Maher who had a pub in Thurles. But today she is talking to be about the organisation and their event which is happening here tomorrow:

On this episode I chat to Mr James Maher, a man that has a skateboard in one hand and a camera in the other! James snook his way into many video / photo opportunities in the aim to build his portfolio and of course profile. Maher grew his hobby with a camera into a full scale business dealing with companies nationwide. We hear how one day he could be in the middle of a forest and the next videoing a bathroom installation! A really fun and enthusiastic chat with James. BAXE is not just a platform, it's an ecosystem with a vision to take back the internet. As CEO and co founder Christian Moore explains: “This is our mission; I have been blessed by a team of highly intelligent capable executives who are passionate about our dream to use blockchain and Web3 technology to make a difference and put control back into the hands of the community and the world.” Or to describe it another way, the team behind BAXE call it the world's first DLT based super app. The BAXE Management team has diverse and relevant career backgrounds to contemplate such a major opus: Moore's background is legal and finance, COO Andrew Broad capital markets technology CTO Dylan Blankenship is blockchain development, CFO James Maher is a CFA and market analyst and CMO Ben Lightfoot's is in digital media, Facebook to be more precise. Much like the app the team is also decentralised across Australia and Asia, their careers have also brought them into the intersection of West meets East in terms of technology and business models which has fuelled the thinking behind the BAXE super app. Listen to podcast to hear more Your host is Jillian Godsil, award winning journalist, broadcaster and author - her latest book can be found here https://persons-of-interest.io/

Who doesn’t love New York?Well, many New Yorkers we’ve spoken to in the past are not always enthusiastic about their city, but one exception is certainly James Maher.James is a street, fine art, and portrait photographer who recently released a book titled “The New York Photographer’s Travel Guide,The Best Places to Photograph from a Professional Photographer, Tour Guide, and Lifelong New Yorker” and we asked him about his favorite locations and his best tips for taking the best photos of the city that never sleeps. That’s not the only book by James that we discussed, the other one being his most recent, “Creative Freelance Marketing: Traditional and Digital Marketing Strategies for Photography, Art, and Creative Businesses.” Of course, we tried to pick his brains with respect to the topic of this other book. So, whether you’d like to make the best of a photo trip to New York for your own pleasure or you’re in it commercially, this episode has something for everyone. ProBlogger Podcast: Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging
Note: this episode is available to listen to in the player above, on iTunes and Stitcher. A Walk-Through of Reasons Why My Recent Top Posts Have Done Well Today I'm going to talk about some posts that have worked for me in the last month on Digital Photography School, my main blog. This episode comes about from a question received by one of our readers, Matthew. He asks if I could walk through a number of posts that have recently done well and why they have worked. We have done this before on the blog and it worked really well, so let's try it for the podcast. In the last month, these four posts have all been in the top 20 on Digital Photography School. I checked Google Analytics for the most read posts, and I tried to pick ones that I haven't talked about in the past. In Today’s Episode 4 of My Most Viewed Blog Posts This Month and Why They Worked 21 Settings, Techniques and Rules All New Camera Owners Should Know Written in 2010. It’s always been a strong performer. Over 100,000 views this month. It’s shareable. It’s a sneeze page - it links to 21 other posts Topic - good big picture overview Generates a load of page views Makes a bit claim Generates curiosity Gets a lot of shares - over a million, people recommend this post to beginners they know Feature image - has been tested and honed, something our readers love about dials works great on social because it signals topic and builds reader anxiety/curiosity This post promotes our course which solves a problem What we could do better - specific opt-in for the post Better formatting - looks a bit tired Replicate this format for specific niches of photography 11 Stages That Every Photographer Goes Through This was written by James Maher a guest writer. I had reservations about this post. It wasn’t a tips post. It was written tongue in cheek a humour story It didn’t have a “hero” image or hit the inspiration angle It worked because it was relatable - I shared on facebook with a question of which stages do you relate to? Touches on a pain point, stage 6 everything sucks Key lesson - you don’t have to always solve a problem, you can create content that shows the reader you know where they are at and can relate to that Everyday Carry – Must-have Tools for Photographers This one surprised Bulk of our articles are tips related This is an accessory or gear article Writer put all of these things in a small tin, which created a strong visual The items were affordable and accessible We claimed must have tools - the word tools works well The post has a hack/DIY perspective EveryDayCarry - is a movement that people are obsessive about, possible share on EveryDayCarry forums How to Make Colors Pop in Your Portraits – Without Using Photoshop I had a feeling this would work well It connects with something people want to make their photos pop It has strong visuals - uses beautiful images with gorgeous kids and color which would be great for sharing The topic - Photoshopped images can be a polarising topic to photographers, some think of using Photoshop as evil, a technique that makes a claim to not use Photoshop will attract readers in that segment Simple but useful techniques Full Transcript Expand to view full transcript Compress to smaller transcript view Hey there and welcome to Episode 104 of the ProBlogger Podcast. Today, I want to talk about some posts that have worked for me in the last month on Digital Photography School, my main blog. This episode really comes about from a question that I received via email from one of our readers, Matthew, who asked if I could walk you through a number of posts that have done well for us recently, and talk about why they have worked. We've done this in the past on ProBlogger on the blog.
