Send us a textWhat do you carry with you every day? Keys, wallet, phone—these items help us feel prepared for whatever the day might bring. But what about spiritual preparation? Our new series "Everyday Carry" opens with a thought-provoking message about the armor of God and how we prepare ourselves spiritually for daily battles. Through a humorous story about accidentally bringing a pocket knife through airport security in Europe, we're reminded that we can carry all the right physical tools and still be spiritually unprepared.Jesus challenges us in Luke 9 to "take up your cross daily and follow me"—emphasizing that spiritual readiness is a daily commitment, not a weekend activity. When we're caught unprepared spiritually, we're vulnerable to attacks that could have been prevented. The armor of God in Ephesians 6 provides a powerful framework for spiritual preparedness: the belt of truth that anchors us in honesty, the breastplate of righteousness that protects our heart while keeping it open to God and others, shoes of peace that carry God's presence wherever we walk, the shield of faith that blocks spiritual attacks, the helmet of salvation that gives us the mind of Christ, and the sword of the Spirit—God's Word—that becomes our weapon against darkness. Most compelling is the realization that while we might forget our physical tools, our spiritual armor should never be left behind. Faith becomes our currency in God's kingdom, blocking attacks of doubt, fear and anxiety. The peace of God doesn't just rest within us but goes before us into our homes, workplaces, and relationships. Are you fully equipped for today's spiritual battles? The greatest thing you can carry isn't something that fits in your pocket—it's the presence and protection of God that goes with you everywhere. Join us as we learn to be spiritually prepared every single day.Cornerstonehttps://www.cornerstoneaz.org/Follow Jesushttps://www.cornerstoneaz.org/follow-jesusLife Groups https://www.cornerstoneaz.org/life-groupsGiving https://cornerstoneaz.churchcenter.com/givingChurch Center App - Download then add Cornerstone Christian Center in Avondale, AZiOShttps://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-church-center/id1357742931?mt=8&ls=1&ign-mpt=uo%3D4Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ministrycentered.churchcenter----Instagram https://www.instagram.com/cornerstoneazFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cornerstoneaz.orgTwitterhttps://twitter.com/cornerstoneaz.org

Cameron started training Jiu Jitsu at the age of 7 in Centennial, Colorado. He instantly fell in love with the sport and has been absolutely fascinated ever since. Cameron earned his blue belt at the age of 15 before being sidelined by a severe neck injury. This downtime turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because it helped Cameron discover his passion for teaching Jiu Jitsu. After receiving his purple belt, Cameron decided to make the pilgrimage to OCBJJ under the instruction of professor Tom Deblass in order to pursue his goal of becoming the best in the world. He has worked his way through the belt rankings, earning his black belt in January 2024. With Deblass's coaching, he has won the Pan-American Games, American Nationals, ADCC Open, and earned silver and bronze medals in the IBJJF Worlds. OCBJJ is a tight-knit family and Cameron couldn't be happier to be a part of the world-class instruction taking place at Ocean County Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.@cameronmellottThanks for listening to My White Belt!Order your My White Belt Shirts here: https://www.mywhitebelt.com/shopDonate to support our work here: https://cash.app/$JimTrick or Venmo @Jim-Trick (0423 if they ask) Join our free, My White Belt Wednesday, newsletter here: https://www.mywhitebelt.com/Follow us on Instagram @mywhitebeltSupport My White Belt when you shop ORIGIN x JOCKO FUEL by using discount code: TRICK10 https://originmaine.com/?ref=iRlDmaPt8CdIHSBighorn Athletics is the official grappling tape of My White Belt!Use code Mywhitebelt to save 10%https://www.bighornathletics.com/Check out Tactition Trays for your Every Day Carry! https://tacticiantrays.com/Use code: TRICK10 to save $$$Submit podcast questions here:https://www.mywhitebelt.com/podcast

Quick Series Overview Back to Basics Series: A 12-part series covering essential preparedness topics to build a strong survival foundation. Episode Summary: In this episode of the Back to Basics series, Coby and Cam break down the essentials of Everyday Carry (EDC)—the gear and mindset that keep you ready for anything, no matter where you are. They cover the must-have EDC items, discuss how to tailor your carry to your environment, and explore the balance between preparedness and practicality. Whether you're a hardcore prepper or just starting to think about what you carry, this episode will help you build an EDC setup that makes sense for your lifestyle. Episode Notes: What is EDC? EDC stands for Everyday Carry—the essential gear you have with you at all times. Designed to keep you prepared for daily tasks, unexpected situations, and even emergencies. Can vary depending on lifestyle, location, and personal preference. Core EDC Items Knife or Multitool – A must-have for utility, self-defense, or survival. Flashlight – Small but powerful; crucial for emergencies, power outages, and self-defense. Wallet – Keep it simple but secure, including cash, ID, and emergency contacts. Phone – Your most versatile tool, but don't rely on it for everything. Firestarter – Lighter or ferro rod for emergency situations. Pen & Notebook – Useful for notes, navigation, or leaving messages. Watch – Preferably analog for reliability in power outages. Paracord/Bracelet – A simple survival tool with multiple uses. Self-Defense Option – Pepper spray, firearm (where legal), or a defensive tool. Situational EDC Adjustments Urban EDC: Keep it low-profile with a multitool, flashlight, and cash. Wilderness EDC: Add fire-starting gear, a small first-aid kit, and a whistle. Work/Office EDC: A discreet setup—pen, multitool, flashlight, and extra phone battery. The Philosophy of EDC Prepared, Not Paranoid – Carry what makes sense, don't go overboard. Layering Your Gear – Everyday Carry → Vehicle Kit → Bug Out Bag. Training Matters – Having the gear is one thing; knowing how to use it is another. Final Thoughts Your EDC is personal—build it based on your daily life and risk factors. Keep it simple, practical, and effective. Always reevaluate and refine your carry setup over time. Too often, public conversations about EDC resort to shaming in order to produce a reaction. Instead, we are going to look at scaleability as a continuum that we can control. When it comes to every day carry, we think about self defense, first aid, and disaster response. These are the backbone of the subject, but not alone the answer. In light of recent events, we take a look at a few items and ways of carrying them that meet the adage of not "doing them the first time in combat" and fit them into what reasonably consists of our every-day life. Scaleability doesn't mean having a train of gear to work toward, but a few, small things that we can add with ease because they are practiced. From the critical role of the environment to the future of personal holding companies, Yong-Soo shares invaluable insights on entrepreneurship, business, and building a personal brand.Through candid reflections, he reveals the challenges he faced, how he overcame them, and the philosophy that continues to drive him today. Whether you're just starting or looking to take your business to the next level, this episode is packed with actionable advice for founders navigating the rapidly evolving digital world. The Power of Environment in Entrepreneurial SuccessYong-Soo emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people and environment to foster growth. His decision to move from New York to San Francisco was a pivotal moment in his journey. He shares how immersing himself in an entrepreneurial community sparked his motivation to build companies in alignment with his passions.By removing himself from the corporate mindset of New York finance, he was able to fully embrace the possibilities of the startup world. His message? Your environment plays a huge role in normalizing your ambitions. If you want to think like an entrepreneur, you need to be around entrepreneurs.Building a Personal Holding CompanyOne of the most profound topics discussed is Yong-Soo's concept of a personal holding company, which he believes is the next wave of entrepreneurship. Unlike traditional holding companies that focus on financial ROI, a personal holding company is centered around creating businesses based on personal interests and passions.Yong-Soo has successfully built businesses around his hobbies, from everyday carry items to dog boutiques, and emphasizes that entrepreneurship can be structured to serve your life and happiness. This approach allows for greater control, personal fulfillment, and the ability to leverage multiple streams of income without the constraints of investor expectations.Navigating the Creator Economy and Building a Personal BrandYong-Soo also touches on the importance of building an audience and distribution. With platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok evolving, he discusses how entrepreneurs can maximize opportunities by paying attention to macro trends and doubling down on content creation. His practical advice encourages consistency and learning from each post, as growth often comes from repetition and improving over time. For those worried about saturation, Yong-Soo's advice is clear: it's all about execution and trust. Building an authentic connection with your audience and providing consistent value are the keys to standing out in an increasingly crowded space.Practical Takeaways for Aspiring EntrepreneursChange Your Environment: If your current environment doesn't align with your goals, consider moving to a place where you can surround yourself with people who inspire and motivate you.Repetition Breeds Success: Start with quantity—consistently create and publish content. Over time, focus on improving quality while maintaining that consistency.Personal Holding Company: Consider building businesses around your hobbies and interests, allowing you to enjoy life while growing multiple streams of income.Execution Over Ideas: It's not about access to tools or ideas anymore; it's about execution. Focus on standing out through consistent effort and execution.Memorable Quotes"Your environment is constantly gathering information around you and normalizing what's okay and what's not. If your surroundings don't align with your goals, it's time to move.""I believe the next wave of entrepreneurship is personal holding companies—building a portfolio of businesses centered around your own passions and interests.""Repetition is the key to success. First focus on quantity, then quality, and finally master both."Guest BioYong-Soo Chung is an entrepreneur, founder, and host of the First Class Founders podcast. Welcome to a new episode of Patriot on Purpose. Today, we dive deep into the world of everyday carry (EDC) and holster training. We discuss the essentials of concealed carry, exploring the best practices for selecting and using holsters, including the popular Vanish holster. We dive into the critical importance of regular training, highlighting various methods such as dry firing, laser training systems, and live ammo practice. Listeners will hear our personal stories and expert tips on balancing comfort and capacity when choosing an EDC weapon, ensuring you're prepared without compromising on safety or practicality. We also touch on the value of community in training, the benefits of training with purpose, and the importance of being ready for real-life situations. Highlights: "As soon as stress is introduced, you have to start filtering out the right thing to do. If you don't have fundamentals, you won't be able to do much of anything." "The most important thing is to carry. Realize you have the fundamental right to do that and exercise it." "Train with a purpose.
