Wake your partner up at 2 in the morning, because it's all been building to this—our season 4 finale! David DaCosta (designer, illustrator, and writer of both Jokey Jokes: A Collection of Illustrated Dad Jokes and the new Jokier Jokes: Another Illustrated Collection of Dad Jokes) joins Sean to talk rock and roll accounting, the circular file, and Too Much Good(?) Stuff. You can find and order Jokey Jokes, the new Jokier Jokes, and all of the Jokey Jokes Merchy Merch (including the gorgeous Dad Jokes hat) at jokeyjokes.com! The books are gorgeous and the merch is great! Pick up one for a kid or a dad joke lover in your life! You can find David's other work on the web at therealdacosta.com or on the ‘gram at @dacostadraws!If you're intrigued by David's work on Snack Watch, his vending machine news and reviews blog from his magazine days, good news! He was kind enough to share the final issue here—drop in some quarters and remember the days when Lay's was courageous enough to think anyone at all wanted cheesy garlic bread flavored chips. This episode's cold open included clips from our episodes with Kristin Rogers Brown and Emily Tate; you can hear the full conversations, which are chock full of more mascot chat, in our back catalog. That segment also featured the song “Action Strike,” written and performed by Rafael Krux and distributed under a CC0 license. This episode was recorded Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the Rat's Nest, which I am beginning to think is less an office and more a locus at which the earth's EM radiation is focused to a fine and impossible-to-filter point. Thanks, 1920s architects and 1950s electricians, for your fine work on this monument to buzzing. I only hope not too much of it made it to air, but if you can hear it, I apologize—I did my best! This episode was once again guest edited by the great Orion Cortez; I couldn't have done this season without him! The city is alive with the sounds of jazz. There are so many talented musicians out there... how can even you keep up with them all?
Continuing our conversation on Marketing and Public Relations, we've teamed up with the Director of UpLIFT Movement, Jonathan C.W. In your leadership role, you may lose sight about what's happening around you, especially if you tend to insulate yourself or get caught up in the “busyness.” Or you may worry too much about your own performance or what people think about you. But leadership is ultimately about elevating others. It requires standing tall in your own way and keeping the focus on your team--through many ups and downs. The journey is much like an elevator ride. Find the full show notes at: https: //workmatters.com/Jazz-it-Up-Elevating-Your-Leadership-Performance
This week Leslie tells us the tale of the Axeman of New Orleans, who was possibly an American serial killer active in New Orleans, Louisiana, and surrounding communities, including Gretna, from May 1918 to October 1919. However, similar murders occurred as early as 1911 that may hold some connection. He mainly targeted Italian immigrants and Italian-Americans. The Axeman was never identified, and the murders remain unsolved. But one thing is for certain, the Axeman was fond of Jazz Music. I bring you a very special conversation with Jaze, as we have a genuine conversation full of gems to help you realize the bigger picture in life. A gentle reminder that you all deserve to take up space in this world and you matter! Also, you can change the story you tell people about yourself any morning when you wake up, you have the power to choose who you are. Do the work, seek professional help if needed, and fight for your life, it’s your life... your time as a caterpillar has expired your wings are ready and it’s time for us to love life as we were intended to!
Jazz is a true expression of individualism, creativity and freedom. When played well by talented musicians it can be amazing. At times it may sound like there is no structure. In relativity there is incredible structure in jazz. The structure is created in the mastery of the instrument through practice. Scales, drills and fundamentals are practiced at nauseam. Your business and your sport can be seen the same way. Playing golf can be a technical and mechanical math problem that involves biomechanics and physics or it can be a free flowing art form. Just a golfer expressing their greatness on an 18 hole canvas. Your business can be a daily checklist with a static spreadsheet or a dynamic, creative expression of your passions. No matter how you approach your sport, business or music you need fundamentals. If you do the hard work on the fundamentals you will free yourself to play YOUR notes YOUR way! Jazz It Up !!! radioshow #221 - 09.02.2016 by Simone Vimercati An eclettic mix of new, old and classic sounds with no time and one common thing: Jazz Music. This is the aim of "Jazz It Up !!!". A selection where Jazz is mixed but without borders and limits of time and genres, which often bring this music to be a niche's phenomenon for experts and purists. During this appointment, I give you a cocktail of pleasant and good quality music that goes from instrumental to vocal jazz, from soul to funky, from latin to rare grooves or new electric sounds. This is also to show everybody that jazz is not a musical genre, but a style, an attitude to express ourselves through the music. This attitude keeps on evolving and it has no limits. It is a music that embraces many listeners' generations: from the youngest, who can discover the past's giants through new artists, to the the eldest who will get amazed by listening to the music's evolution of jazz, soul and funk. I wish you a good listening: let you cherish by "Jazz It Up !!!". "Jazz It Up !!!" radioshow is available through radios, web radios, platforms for streaming on-demand and podcast. I have had the pleasure of seeing Motivational Speaker after Motivational Speaker strut their stuff. As with most things, some are extraordinary and others are not…yet. Who did you last observe being totally ‘in the groove’ with something? A team member, your manager, your partner, a TV chef, a singer, the window cleaner….? I find it fascinating to watch – so connected with the activity, so elegant and so committed. Have you watched anyone recently and noticed they were NOT in the groove? The experience is very different: clunky, dis-connected and stilted. Read more http://buildingateam.co.uk/motivational-speaker-jazz-it-up
