Welcome back! I'm so pleased to start this series of never before heard conversations from my archive with a dear friend of mine - photographer, artist and co-founder of menswear brand Adret, Adam Rogers.Along with his co-founder Seto Adiputra, Adret is discreetly tucked away between the high fashion luxury brands of London's New Bond Street and the bespoke tailors of Saville Row. Their tagline - ‘Smartly Tailored for Smart Relaxing.'We talk about patience, about finding your way, about imposter syndrome, about being uncompromising. About independence and the musical Singing in the Rain. And how a young man from a family of musicians, with a love for BMX bikes, who studied art and design, ended up with his own menswear brand. And of course we talk about music.Guest: Adam RogersTitle: It was the constant idea of independenceMusic: Clifford St playlist Matthew Halsall, Johnny HartmannLinks: Adret on IGOther Links:Find out more about ways to support my special limited Israel-Palestine series click herePodcast WebsitePodcast IG Hosted on Acast. For the newest edition of The Seltzer Salon, I talked to trumpeter, composer, and so much more, Matthew Halsall, about his new album, An Ever Changing View. It's a stunning album. I've been an admirer of Halsall's work for a while, but this album really swept me up in this lively, vivid world he creates with it. His compositions and trumpet playing are, of course, top notch, but the percussive elements of the album heighten its impact considerably. Add in the full package - custom fonts, cover tapestry, etc - it's an incredible listening experience. It was great to chat about it and hear him discuss those elements and how it came together to produce something so special.Matthew Halsall “An Ever Changing View” https://matthewhalsall.bandcamp.com/album/an-ever-changing-viewTickets for Royal Albert Hall: https://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2023/matthew-halsall/The Seltzer Salon is a concise, conversational podcast hosted by Brad Rose and produced by Foxy Digitalis. Matthew Halsall is a trumpeter, producer and composer who is redefining spiritual jazz for the next generation. Over the course of nine albums, numerous accolades and his taste-making label, Gondwana Records, he's become a vital voice in UK music with his lithe, limitless blend of jazz and deeply meditative influences that's in tune with the natural world. His thoughtful and refined style draws on the foundations laid by greats like Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, but adds the sample-fuelled electronica that he first heard in clubs, as well as global percussive influences and his signature – what you might call – sparkle. Today we feature his new album, An Ever Changing View, which is out today! Support the show

We're back with the second episode (of the second series) of Contemplative Podcast in which Matt Emery chats with Matthew Halsall, a Manchester-based jazz musician, trumpet player, and founder of the independent Gondwana Records. As broadcast April 17, 2020. This week was a very special presentation with a guest artist who is pretty much one of our favorite people ever, which would be veteran DJ & tastemaker Harmeet Kala. We met Harmeet way back when at The Ohio State University's student radio station, The Underground or KBUX, and even after all these years Danno & Harmeet just love talking tunes & the experience of audio magic. Harmeet joined us via phone from LA to take over the 2nd hour playlist with cuts from Snoh Aalegra, Matthew Halsall, and Don Cherry amongst other worthies. We also discussed fanboy experiences, the disappointment of not getting the album version at a live show, and his dear friend Otis Styles, who he's also still tight with after all these years.#feelthegravityTracklisting: Part I & IIJan Hammer Group – Peaceful SundownRoisin Murphy – Murphy's Law (edit)Henry Wu – Don't Want The RegularJitwam – busstopWajatta – We Know More (Than We Lead On)Little Dragon – TimothyRoberta Flack – Tryin' TimesRonnie Laws – Tidal WaveRichard Spaven – Show Me What You GotSAULT – MasterpieceKamaal Williams feat Mansur Brown – Snitches BrewPart III & IVMatthew Halsall – Cherry BlossomGeorgia – Started OutSnoh Aalegra – TorontoAgoria feat Scalde – For One HourGiraffage feat Angelica Bess – Green TeaUnknown Mortal Orchestra – Not In Love We're Just HighNookie – Only You (Original Mix)Seals & Crofts – Sweet Green FieldsAnna Wise – CoconutsDon Cherry – Brown Rice
