News: As part of the DisneylandForward project, the Manchester cast member parking lot is scheduled to close this summer to make way for a new multi-level parking structure and Harbor Boulevard gateway. Built behind the Harbor Boulevard hotels, the structure will feature a pedestrian bridge crossing over the street to connect guests directly to the Esplanade. Although official timelines have not yet been released, construction permits have already been filed with the city of Anaheim. – https://www.micechat.com/436946-disneyland-news-halloween-buckets-avengers-anniversary/ https://youtu.be/OUZ0Em7Lm_c?si=Qbxo_oRkee9JgtTf&t=20 Disneyland has recently expanded its covered seating options for the summer season, including the addition of the new Edelweiss Lodge in Fantasyland and Red's Community Garden in Cars Land. To provide guests with more indoor places to cool off, the park has also converted the Port Royal shop in New Orleans Square back into a seating area and is adding more shade to the Hungry Bear Barbecue in Bayou Country. The Knicks are playing in Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden tonight. The NYPD has ramped up security at MSG due to President Donald Trump attending the game. Watch parties outside of the venue have been canceled, and TSA-styled security checkpoints will be all around the Garden. Restaurants are also preparing for fans to watch the game at 8:30. Construction began for the 2nd Avenue Subway project. It will extend the Q line into Harlem and East Harlem. This comes after the Trump Administration reinstated funding for the project. Governor Hochul said the project is on track for service to begin in 2032. The World Cup kicks off its first game this Thursday with matches at the NYNJ Stadium on Saturday. WFUV's Sonia Weliwitigoda tells where to watch the final championship game. This past weekend, more than a hundred community gardens in New York City opened their gates to the public. A passionate gardener with an interest in growing food, Naomi soon began hosting gatherings in her yard where neighbors could discuss ideas to beautify and strengthen their community. Is the rising cost of groceries keeping you up at night? It's time to stop being a consumer and start being a grower—even if you only have a tiny patio. This week, we're joined by Dena, who is reclaiming her food independence by growing entire harvests from the "scraps" most people throw away. We're breaking down the Grocery Rebellion, teaching you how to turn a single tomato slice, a scallion nub, or a dollar-store find into a literal feast. We'll cover the "Why" behind using organic produce for regrowing, the magic of companion planting, and how to use banana peels as a natural shield against pests. In this episode, we explore: The Patio Revolution: How Dena grows "plenty" in a small space and tips for reclaiming vacant lots in your town. The Science of "Second Growth": Why hybrids often fail and how to pick the right veggies to regrow. Abundance from Crisis: The moving story of a community dinner that turned a suspected tragedy into a massive gift for the homeless. Frugal Alchemy: Making "Kitchen Sink Soup" from less-than-perfect veggies and finding hidden resources at food banks and dollar stores. Growing the Next Generation: Why kids who help plant the garden are more likely to eat their greens. Feeding your family healthy food shouldn't be a luxury. Join us as we think outside the box, lose the stigma of seeking help, and learn to find abundance in the most unexpected places. In this special seasonal episode of the Hort Culture podcast, join Ray as he sits down with Boyd County Horticulture Extension Agent Lori Bowling to explore a truly impactful and unique horticulture program: the Federal Correctional Institution Master Gardener Program in Ashland, Kentucky. Lori shares the origin story of the program, which began more than two decades ago with a simple orchard planting and evolved into a full Kentucky Master Gardener certification offered inside a federal prison. Listeners learn how incarcerated participants complete the same rigorous coursework and volunteer requirements as any Master Gardener, while gaining valuable job skills, purpose, and confidence. The conversation highlights the program's far-reaching benefits, including the production of tens of thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables each year that are donated to River Cities Harvest and distributed to food-insecure families across Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. This episode powerfully illustrates how horticulture education, community partnerships, and Extension programming can change lives—both inside and outside prison walls—by growing food, skills, and hope.River Cities HarvestBoyd County Extension Horticulture ProgramQuestions/Comments/Feedback/Suggestions for Topics: hortculturepodcast@gmail.comCheck us out on Instagram!

This week, Donna and Orlando sat down with David Daley, investigative journalist and author of Anti-Democratic: Inside the Far Right's 50-Year Plot to Control American Elections. In 1981, a young lawyer, fresh out of Harvard law school, joined the Reagan administration's Department of Justice, taking up a cause that had been fomenting in Republican circles for over a decade by that point. From his perch inside the Reagan DOJ, this lawyer would attempt to bring down one of the defining pieces of 20th century legislation—the Voting Rights Act. His name was John Roberts. Now lauded investigative reporter David Daley reveals the urgent story of this fifty-year Republican plot to end the Voting Rights Act and encourage minority rule in their party's favor. From the bowels of Reagan's DOJ to the walls of the conservative Federalist Society to the moneyed Republican resources bankrolling restrictive voting laws today, Daley reveals a hidden history as sweeping as it is troubling. To learn more about Anti-Democratic: Inside the Far Right's 50-Year Plot to Control American Elections, click here. FOR HOT TAKES:DETROIT GETS $19.8M FROM KNIGHT FOUNDATION TO BOOST ART, TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNITY PROJECTSCITY OF DETROIT SLAMS ROGERS FOR CALLING ON TRUMP TO SEND TROOPS Support the showFollow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
