If you are inspired to explore and researched your options in reproductive health and natural fertility awareness methods, then this episode is for you! In this episode, Erika's guest is Siri Kalla. A modern witch (according to Erika), who teaches women all around the world how to understand their menstrual cycles, learn safe natural birth control, and learn how to truly nourish their bodies into resolving menstrual cycle health and fertility problems. Siri was born in Sweden but lives in Norway. Her work originates around menstrual cycle health and fertility from a functional medicine approach - meaning that she looks for root causes rather than just treating the symptoms. At the core of Siri's work is the wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies. Understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health is a human right and a basic necessity for a truly feminist society. She has been on her own journey of healing, understanding and befriending her menstrual cycle since 2009, took my certification as a Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner at @justissecollege between 2013-2017, and founded Our Fertility in 2018 to be a container for this work. While discussing Siri's work, the conversation delves into the historical persecution of female power, embodied sovereignty, and wisdom held by women, midwives, and witches. In this episode: The historical background that set the stage for the current modern medical system, and how it impacts the knowledge we have about fertility. The weaknesses and issues with the current Western medical system in regards to female reproductive health, and the benefits of alternative methods. Siri's work in functional medicine and her wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies. The importance of understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health as a human right and basic necessity for a truly feminist society. The availability of natural fertility awareness methods, such as the Justisse Method, and Billings Method, as alternatives to conventional medicine options. Let's connect! Beautiful consciousnesses, spring is in the air, finally! I'm back with a new episode; I hope you enjoy it!  This podcast episode is about natural fertility, birth control, and hormone balancing methods by learning to "work" with our cycles and tuning into the wisdom of our bodies. It was refreshing to hear this perspective and learn from Lana, as we are not taught about the natural ways to approach these issues we face as women. Lana shares her journey about how her allopathic doctor couldn't help her with polycystic ovary syndrome. When her doctor told her not to worry about her irregular cycle, she took the matter into her own hands, did some research, and found the Justisse method. Through this method, which consists of tracking our cycle, Lana has had positive results in overcoming her condition and conceiving a healthy child. She is now teaching and supporting women doing the same.   The Justisse method empowers women to heal themselves by learning how the body operates. There is so much that we can learn by tracking our moon cycle. Please share with anyone interested in holistic reproductive health. For more information, reach out to Lana at lanajoyparra.ca. Ladies, why are we so afraid to ask for what we want in the bedroom?   This week on the Ignite Intimacy podcast I'm talking to sex educator Kim Sedgwick, co-founder of Red Tent Sisters, about the female tendency to put others first and not take time to consider and express their own desires and needs. We're talking about opening up the channels of communication in the bedroom, and prioritizing all different kinds of pleasure, not just orgasm.    Learn the beauty of letting go of your fears, saying goodbye to those pesky hangups, being fully seen for all of you, and creating true connection and intimacy with the right people (for you!).   About Kim: Growing up Toronto, Canada, in a very sex positive atmosphere, Kim always felt comfortable asking questions and having discussions about sex. After majoring in English and Gender & Women's Studies, Kim and her sister Amy founded Red Tent Sisters to teach women how to manage their fertility naturally through the Justisse Method, and helping them feel sexually empowered. Kim aims to change the definition of the passive "nice girl", and teach women about the confidence that comes from knowing your boundaries and creating deep connections because of it. Currently working in Toronto, Kim also works in continuing education and advocacy for sexuality and gender issues. In today’s show, we delve into the psycho-spiritual aspects of fertility awareness, the different ways that our bodies are commodified and mistreated within the standard medical system, and the implications these issues have for modern day feminists. Topics discussed in today's episode Where does the Fertility Awareness Method fit in with modern day feminism? Why is our fertility treated as a "disease" that needs to be "treated" by modern medicine? Why are women still told that hormonal contraceptives do no harm to our reproductive systems? What is misogyny? And what does it have to do with the way women's bodies are treated in our medical system? The importance of calling it what it is - "birth control" vs. "contraceptive endocrine disruptor" vs. "temporary sterilization" The role of fear in the development of birth control methods The complicated relationship that women have with their bodies and their fertility Unplanned pregnancy, and why hormonal birth control is considered the only 'valid' birth control option The consequences of unplanned pregnancy, and the lack of support for mothers with newborn children The importance of proper attachment between mother and baby within the crucial first 2 years of life The role of breastfeeding in encouraging proper attachment between mother and child Connect with Geraldine You can connect with Geraldine on the Justisse website and on Facebook!
