What if oxygen could be one of the most overlooked keys to fertility?
Diana Wassef is a Lebanese-Egyptian living in upstate New York with her lovely husband Patrick and two furry creatures Qi-Qi & Umpa. Her work centers on menstrual cycle awareness, natural fertility, and cyclical living as a path to deeper embodiment. She guides women toward reconnecting with their inner rhythm, and runs Cremona Studios — a sustainable fashion label rooted in the phases of the cycle and the stories woven within them.We begin our conversation hearing about Diana's background, her love for Lebabon and why she left. After suffering for most of her life with painful menstrual cycles, she at last finds a course that awakens her to a new relationship to her cycle and cyclical living. She shares about the 4 phase cycle and how this awareness transformed her life. After years of building this new relationship and some additional training, she now supports women who are seeking a deeper relationship with their cycle, whether it be because of the inherent beauty of it, or because of a specific need to balance things out or support a fertility journey. Diana shares honestly about her own fertility journey and the two pregnancy losses she's experienced in this past year. We get a little personal together about these loses we've both experienced and how we hope having these conversations will help to normalize the discussion around pregnancy loss to better support those experiencing it.We also dip into her clothing line, and how she went from a goth designer to one aligned with the seasons of the menstrual cycle. Yes, you heard "Bloody Romper."She offers regular "womb circles" in the area. If you are inspired to explore and researched your options in reproductive health and natural fertility awareness methods, then this episode is for you! In this episode, Erika's guest is Siri Kalla. A modern witch (according to Erika), who teaches women all around the world how to understand their menstrual cycles, learn safe natural birth control, and learn how to truly nourish their bodies into resolving menstrual cycle health and fertility problems. Siri was born in Sweden but lives in Norway. Her work originates around menstrual cycle health and fertility from a functional medicine approach - meaning that she looks for root causes rather than just treating the symptoms. At the core of Siri's work is the wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies. Understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health is a human right and a basic necessity for a truly feminist society. She has been on her own journey of healing, understanding and befriending her menstrual cycle since 2009, took my certification as a Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner at @justissecollege between 2013-2017, and founded Our Fertility in 2018 to be a container for this work. While discussing Siri's work, the conversation delves into the historical persecution of female power, embodied sovereignty, and wisdom held by women, midwives, and witches. In this episode: The historical background that set the stage for the current modern medical system, and how it impacts the knowledge we have about fertility. The weaknesses and issues with the current Western medical system in regards to female reproductive health, and the benefits of alternative methods. Siri's work in functional medicine and her wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies. The importance of understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health as a human right and basic necessity for a truly feminist society. The availability of natural fertility awareness methods, such as the Justisse Method, and Billings Method, as alternatives to conventional medicine options. Let's connect! Birth Control. Let's talk about it. If you've ever tried to get pregnant, or gone out of your way to be sure not to get pregnant, my guess is you've either been on some form of hormonal birth control, or considered it. Doctors quickly prescribe “the pill” for issues from family planning, cramps, and even for acne (though let's be honest… the pill can often cause acne)! But there's a growing consensus on this drug: hormonal birth control often has very serious side effects, and if not informed about, it can lead to more problems than it solves. I'm so excited to share with you some advice about Fertility Awareness with a true expert in the field, Amy Murray. Fertility Awareness lets you see changes as they are happening to your body. How effective is this method? We dive into that in today's episode. Accurate information is needed to make an informed decision about freedom over your own body.
