Could a simple breathing technique help release stress you've held for years, and strengthen your bones in the process? I'm excited to introduce you to a powerful healing practice I've recently added to my own routine: Clarity Breathwork. My dear friend and colleague, Robin Eisen, joins me to demonstrate how this gentle yet transformative breathwork method can reduce stress, release stored tension, and support your overall bone health. In this episode, Robin guides us through a beautiful 15-minute breathwork experience you can follow along with. If this resonates with you, check the details of Robin's upcoming classes and resources to make breathwork a tool in your bone health journey! Here I explain the lymphatic system, a crucial bodily network for overall health and appearance. I explain how the lymphatic system works to remove cellular waste and fluid from your organs and combat infections. I provide science-based tools that support your lymphatic system for the sake of health and appearance, including: how to reduce fluid retention in your limbs, trunk or face, how to eliminate 'bags' under your eyes and brain fog, and how to improve cardiac health and longevity. Because your lymphatic system lacks a central pump, it needs the mechanical forces generated by specific types of bodily movement, breathing and pressure to circulate your lymph properly, and I explain how you can activate these. I also explain how to support optimal functioning of your glymphatic system, a brain- and spinal cord waste-clearing system active during sleep that is crucial for brain functioning and longevity, including to prevent dementia. In this Season 14 review (episode 376) Andrea Samadi revisits highlights from her interview with Dr. John Ratey about the science of exercise, nutrition, and social connection for brain health and longevity. The episode explains Peter Attia's rule for foundational fitness, warns against sugar dependence and fat phobia, and presents the three biggest levers for healthy aging: exercise, diet, and social connection, plus practical tips to track and apply these habits. Takeaway: prioritize consistent movement, whole foods, and meaningful connection to boost mood, memory, and overall well-being. On today's episode #376, we review PART 2 of our 2021 interview with Dr. John Ratey and will learn: ✔ 3 Science-backed keys to brain health: Exercise, Nutrition and Connection ✔ What is Attia's Rule that allows us to dive deep into diet and nutrition? ✔ Practical Tips for improving consistent movement, our diet and social connection to boost overall well-being and brain health. Welcome back to SEASON 14 of The Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast, where we connect the science-based evidence behind social and emotional learning and emotional intelligence training for improved well-being, achievement, productivity and results—using what I saw as the missing link (since we weren't taught this when we were growing up in school), the application of practical neuroscience. I'm Andrea Samadi, and seven years ago, launched this podcast with a question I had never truly asked myself before: (and that is) If productivity and results matter to us—and they do now more than ever—how exactly are we using our brain to make them happen? Most of us were never taught how to apply neuroscience to improve productivity, results, or well-being. About a decade ago, I became fascinated by the mind-brain-results connection—and how science can be applied to our everyday lives. That's why I've made it my mission to bring you the world's top experts—so together, we can explore the intersection of science and social-emotional learning. We'll break down complex ideas and turn them into practical strategies we can use every day for predictable, science-backed results. Episode 376: PART 2 Featuring Dr. John Ratey For today's Episode 376, we continue with PART 2 of our review with Dr. John Ratey, covering the first health staple that we know is scientifically proven to boost our physical and mental health: exercise. We first met Dr. Ratey on Episode 116[i] (back in March 2021) on his book “The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain.” Dr. Ratey is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and an internationally recognized expert in Neuropsychiatry. Dr. Ratey has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and 11 books in 17 languages. You'll notice that around the time of the pandemic, in 2020, our interviews took a turn towards health and wellness, and to stay on track, I created a framework of our Top 5 Health Staples on Episode 87[ii], which eventually evolved into our Top 6 Health Staples.

Today I sat down with someone I admired from afar. I knew not only did I need to sit down with her to have this conversation, but also to experience what I've seen as one of the best results for lymphatic drainage. I share in this conversation how I discovered the importance of the lymphatic system and that was actually because of my dog and also an incredible interview I had a few years ago with an expert about the lymphatic system. Since then I have been conscious of taking care of mine and being mindful of the extra little things we can do to support it. Raena O'Neil is the founder of Lymphatic Organic, specializing in lymphatic drainage techniques and education. She developed the LO Method, a lymphatic drainage technique, and offers online certification courses in it. Her work focuses on detoxifying the body, enhancing immune function, and promoting overall wellness through lymphatic drainage. After our conversation I got to experience it for myself and truly I have to say, there is nothing like it and I felt renewed after it. Trust me when I say, I would have no problem driving 2 hours to have a session with her once a month, which is her recommendation, unlike some others. She wants you to learn how to support your own lymphatic system at home. In this conversation we talk about: The importance of your lymphatic system What makes her method different Why you might be retaining water Common histamine issues What to do before and after drainage massage Balancing your blood sugar Why caster oil is so beneficial and more For full show notes and episode resources head to: https://ericalippy.com/raena-oneil/ Watch episode on YouTube Find our guest at: Raena O'Neil: Website, Instagram Certification Course Follow me on Social Media: Your Host: @ericalippy Podcast: @passionlovepursuit YouTube PASSION LOVE PURSUIT PODCASTS: https://ericalippy.com/the-podcast/
